[CO's office, Front Ear Station, Dr. Naz] " My dad is a politician on Trill. He has a saying that he grounded into my head whenever the sun happened to be up and he was feeling preachy. "Rise to the occasion to serve." I suppose that's why I'm here right now rather than sipping wine like my older brother is that I actually listened to him." " Sometimes, you have to make the decision to do the most good, and run down that path as far as you can. When I was little I wanted to be a senator, as sad as that sounds for a little girl, because I wanted to be like my dad. My mom is an entertainer, she handles dancers, musicians, touring acts, but as delightful that was, it wasn't for me. I can't dance. And the symbiont isn't going to give me that skill I wish it did. But my dad could diffuse tension and an argument between politicians on the home world. And he always carried himself with such a dignity and such this fervent need to help someone. And I wanted to do like that and be him." She rubbed her arm. " I'm sorry for rambling," She said it was a little wild laugh. " Just get me started talking about my past and I will talk all day because I have more than my share and every single one of my predecessors liked to talk." She shot glowing smile at Judith. [Capt. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - Commanding Officer's Office]Judy didn't comment on Nazra's talkative inclination. The young woman was herself aware of it. However, it turned out they did have something in common. "My mother's a politician as well. Or, rather, was; she's retired now. She was a four-term mayor of New York City, after a very long career in city politics."She took in a deep breath. "One of the greatest life lessons she taught me, actually, is that the important question to ask yourself is never, 'what do you want to be?'. Instead, you should ask, 'what do you want to do?'"With a wry smile, she tapped the fingers of her left hand on her right. "And that's why I didn't become a politician. I didn't want to devote so much effort to titles and positions, rather than actions and achievements."By the same token, she had never lobbied aggressively for promotions.
