[CO's Office - Ops] [Approximately four weeks after " The 'I' In Team"] Closing the channel after ending her conversation with maintenance about an issue with the filters in cargo bay four. Thea sat back against the chair and closed her eyes briefly, whilst wondering what else would need her immediate attention. The answer of course was laid right in front of her in the form of numerous padd, that needed to be looked at and signed off, before she could leave the office and spend some time in the operations hub below. However until then she had work to do and with Judy taking some well deserved time off and Felicity in charge of the Mac's latest mission, Thea could focus on the day to day running of the station. That in itself was exactly what she needed as it had been just over a month since she had unexpectedly lost her Mother and she was a fool, if she thought that her grieving was over when it wasn't. Isaiah had been her rock, her source of comfort throughout the process and he had really looked after her, once she had returned home. That was just further proof of how much they loved one another and how solid there relationship was. A love that she valued and cherished and was already looking forward to his return. Turning her thoughts away from Isaiah for the moment, Thea stretched then poured a fresh cup of tea from the patterned teapot on her desk, her mind clear and ready to tackle the next padd. Aided by the delicious taste of proper not replicated English tea, taking a sip as she picked up said padd and began to read it's contents.

[Blue Beta - Promenade]
Following her near miss with a crate of Seamus's newest ales and despite her insistence that she was okay, apart from being a little more tired than normal. Seamus had seen right through the pretence and practically ordered her to sit down, take a break so she was ready to deal with the impending mid morning rush. Lea knew when to admit defeat and that Seamus was only looking out for her, so hadn't argued with him as he took her over to one of the booths.
Once she was sat down and presented with coffee and an Irish fry, she had thanked him, before he had left her in order to take care of the remaining bottles of ale. Of course she had felt guilty about what had happened and how it was unlike her to be this clumsy. However now that she had time to process it, realised that things hadn't been great since the moment she had woken up.
Fear had clawed at her when she couldn't sense any thoughts or feelings before the more rational and logical side of her took over and she put it down to being over tired and the stresses of the last few weeks finally catching up to her. At least that's what made the most sense and it wasn't as if she hadn't experienced these overloads before. So hoping that it was just temporary and that her abilities would return once she had taken a little time to herself, Lea then turned her attention to her breakfast.

[Ensign Enola - personal quarters - Deck 14]
Enola sat in her quarters and meditated. At least she was trying to meditate, She had been sitting on her little cushion for about two hours now, staring at the small meditation candle just before, while trying to see through it and control the clutter. Well, with a candle one could not speak of disorder, after all the flame waved evenly back and forth, but on Enola's mind the designation discorder was thoroughly applicable. She didn't need to meditate urgently, but she certainly felt the urge to sort herself out before things got worse. Because of her Romulan heritage, it generally took her a little longer to meditate.
She tried everything not to get distracted somehow. Usually during meditation, it made it seem like Enola's mind was no longer where she was meditating. And in a sense, she wasn't. But today she couldn't get a wink of sleep during meditation, and she wasn't particularly focused. But she couldn't think why either. It had been a normal day, just like the last ten.

[PO1 Jovireh Velal - Front Ear - Promenade Security Office]This was it. The start of her first shift as supervisor of Promenade security. The last several weeks had been filled with training exercises with Commander Taggert, testing and improving upon her leadership abilities. Jovireh only wished she had the same amount of confidence in herself that he and Captain Eastman had in her. The view of the office - her office - looked different from this side of the room. The desk looked far larger, the room much smaller. She stood leaning against the back wall with her arms crossed over her chest, staring at the desk as though expecting it to jump and bite her. As many of the senior officers she'd noted, she had also taken a page from Judy's book and left food on a table in the adjoining room for the security personnel working the Promenade. However, as opposed to the relaxing baked goods, she'd focused on a selection that would benefit their health and energy levels. After all, even a quiet day here was more demanding than patrols and guard watch. So there was one basket filled with a variety of fruit, one with jerkies, and a cooler stocked with water and other hydrating drinks. There were already stacks of PADDs on the desk, reports awaiting her attention. A dull headache throbbed between her eyes. But there was one thing she was determined to do before she tackled the paperwork part of her new position. =A="Velal to Crewman Bremmer. Can you report to the Promenade security office, please?"=A= She didn't feel the need to come in and start barking orders on her first day. Especially not when she didn't want the other woman to think something was wrong.

[ Cwm Eliska Bremmer - Promenade Security Office - Front Ear Station ]Security work was, for the most part, routine. Walk a beat, stand in front of a door, do small arms maintenance, run the range, get some gym time somewhere in there. And on this particular day, her job was to walk the Promenade and, well, make sure no one got too rowdy. Though it was a little early in the morning for that, but then again the station never truly slept and the odd joint was running at full tile around the clock. Which meant that after the watch briefing she'd gone and drawn her phaser from the small arms locker and made for her beat a little ahead of time to get a quick pass-down from the poor soul begging for rack time she was relieving, and then started walking. That was, until her commbadge chirped. =A= "Bremmer, acknowledged. On my way."=A= Velal. They'd worked together before and she'd like to think they had established a decent rapport, but she was the shift supervisor down on the Promenade, which meant that she was very much her boss for the day. Before long, she entered the Promenade Security office, and called out. "You wanted to see me, PO?"

[Ensign Evorís - Communications station, Ops]
Some weeks into his assignment, and he finally felt the weight of “prosper” slip from his fingers. In stagnant air and stagnant space, he'd lost his right to his katra, and filled it with the void of storm that he'd spent his youth resisting. Lavender was suppressed by sickly green, but Evorís remained in position, attentive and red against the pull of emptiness that grew within him.
His limbs felt somewhat heavy and uncoordinated, physically burdened in a way he was not accustomed. Though Evorís had not slept the previous night, nor the night before, it was unusual for a Vulcan to be so easily affected by fatigue. Once again, he blamed the apparent loss of his katra, a punishment well-deserved— though for what reason, he couldn't place.
Still, it was nothing to bother the commanding officer about. There was no need to draw unnecessary attention to a problem of such insignificance, in the grander scheme of the Federation and the station as a whole. His duties would go on, even if his soul did not.
He closed himself around the ache, somewhere in the line between his heart and brain— a second rib cage within the first, twisted and grey and empty.

[Deck 12, Ensign Ic Arbrell’s quarters -> Park] The pillow was heavy beneath his head, formed hard against his temple and jaw, as if molded in cement. It felt as if he’d been liquefied in the night, and awakened fused to silk and synthetic down. And as he blinked with eyes still closed, he fought to move, clearly still tight in the shadowed grip of sleep. Hands felt a thousand kilos both when he reached to push the duvet back. Bare legs felt the fabric move, and lacked movement themselves. He whined at the simulated sunlight for five more minutes. The usual acknowledgment from his alarm did not come. Everything was quiet. “Ten more, then.”He had time today to take it; there were still a few hours before his plans began, and the therapist had suggested (and forgiven) allowing a chunk of time to go unscheduled every once in a while. It was forgivable, too, to skip breakfast on these days, if it stressed him out too much. But one of the perks of coffee was its portability, he thought in the clear cement dream. He could take an oversized mug to the park per the morning’s plan, and— Morning?! The alarm was set for dawn! All limbs bursting in their sleep-locked state to sit him upright in bed, they reeled when he finally rose, and ached suddenly in chorus as he fought to open either eye. He managed one only as he struggled clumsily to get dressed. Unique would not notice if he showed up as he was, but he had a feeling everyone else might. But at the same time, he wasn’t convinced that this all still wasn’t a dream. He’d had that one before, only it was set at his primary school on Betazed, and— In his half trance on his way out, Ic had forgotten to think about coffee or shoes. He’d promised Unique a breakfast date today, to make up for the conversation cut short the day before. Having gotten into the topic of how to talk to people, it had turned inevitably to recent embarrassments, and Ic found himself trying to explain relationships even before getting to why his blunders were important (or not). And with the topic lingering through the night like a misremembered dream waiting to be repeated, he realized quite uncomfortably as he stepped into the grass that it was the only thing in his mind. The memory echoed. In teal and a double-gross shades of pink, it echoed. How strange, to still be asleep. How strange that it was all so quiet but for the frantic zoetrope of stupidity and puppy love, which were basically the same thing. “Hey.” Dropping down beside the familiar tangle of thorns and vines, Ic lay dazedly in the grass, tense with the sicklike ache in his limbs. “Sorry I’m late.”

[Operations - Front Ear] After getting through as many Padds as possible, thanks to the magical elixir of proper Yorkshire tea. Thea had delegated the remaining reports to the do later pile, before deciding to leave the office and stretch her legs. Also it gave her the opportunity to be more hands on and actually be amongst those operating the main hub of the station, well the second if you were speaking to an Engineer. Regardless of opinion, this was where she really wanted to be as opposed to being stuck upstairs out of the way. That's why Thea also enjoyed being on the Bridge of the Mac for the exact same reasons, especially more than ever with her still coming to terms with her recent loss. Four weeks was nothing really and neither were the subsequent weeks since her return. However that had to pushed asideat least until she was alone. Descending the stairs, Thea took a moment to look around appreciating the lull of the morning but for somewhere like Front Ear it was never truly quiet. Pausing as she spotted Ensign Evoris, their latest transfer, Thea proceeded towards his console, aware that she hadn't gotten to know him just yet. That would be rectified as she then greeted him warmly. " Good Morning Ensign, anything to report?".

[Unique - Front Ear - Park]Daylight had only just begun, and the stalk straightened to stretch towards the light, vines shuffling away from their protective barrier formation into a more relaxed thicket, petals unfurling to soak up the warmth. It wasn't long after before it was roused from its slumber by the tingling approach of a familiar presence. As it neared and spoke, the petals folded once more to allow the bud to tilt down towards the Person in the grass. "You apologize more than any other Person that visits me." It was a simple statement, made with no intention beyond curiosity and observance. "Why?" Of course, others had apologized to it before... Mainly when they had been unable to visit for awhile. This one, however, uttered those words quite frequently throughout most of their visits. Since time meant very little to the plant, 'late' was not a concept it was concerned with. Ic had still come, as he said he would. That was what mattered.

[PO1 Jovireh Velal - Front Ear - Promenade Security Office]Jov looked up with a small smile when the other spoke, nodding and gesturing to the chair across from her. "Have a seat. This won't take long." Her gaze shifted to the chair in front of her, as Jovireh realized that she should probably sit down as well. She'd have to get used to it at some point. So with a steadying breath, she moved away from the wall and settled into the chair she knew she'd be spending a lot of time in now. In order to distract herself from the rising nerves that clenched her stomach, she focused on the Crewman across from her and began. "Every time I've worked with you, you've proven to be more than capable at your job, no matter what it entails. I feel like your talents and skills are being wasted on the guard duty and empty deck patrols you're assigned to most often." It actually reminded Jovireh a lot of herself back on Starbase 173, and she didn't like seeing someone being treated similarly here on Front Ear. "Part of the agreement with Captain Eastman and Commander Taggert when I accepted this position was that I'd be allowed to make a few changes to how things operate, including the duty roster and scheduling. I'm offering you a full-time posting here on the Promenade, if you're interested." Jov paused then to give Eliska a chance to react and respond. The headache she'd been ignoring all morning was starting to spread, but she continued to ignore it. She'd never handled change well, but she supposed a migraine was better than an emotional breakdown. Signs of progress, right?

[Blue Beta - Promenade]
Coffee and delicious fried foods usually never failed to not only sate Lea's hunger but also give her a much needed energy boost. However half way through and she may as well be eating air or nothing at all. It was a strange sensation when the Betazoid always enjoyed her food and yet, knew that she would get the Ferengi inquisition if she didn't at least try to eat it all. Unless she could maybe sneak into her office and take a nap, because today wasn't going very well already.
Then again perhaps that's all she needed, especially with the growing emptiness and fuzziness that was still going on in her head. Without her abilities it felt as though a piece of her was missing and of course she'd rather deal with it, rather than worry anyone about it. Luckily Riyo had already left for his shift before she had woken up and with the kids spending the night at their grandparents, it had been much easier than admitting that she wasn't herself.
She was on autopilot and everything just seemed to close in on her, making her vulnerable and weak. No she had to fight through the fog and get on with it, knowing that this was temporary as it had been before. She had suffered worse than this and so she made a decision.
" Shay, I'll be in my office, give me a shout if it gets busy" she said standing up, immediately grabbing the table as a wave of dizziness took over. Taking a deep breath and hoping that Seamus hadn't seen her stumble, Lea made her way to her office as the Irishman answered.
" Will do" He said, having witnessed everything, not that Lea would ever know that.

[ Cwm Eliska Bremmer - Promenade Security Office - Front Ear Station ]Invited to sit, Eliska did just that. Well, at least it was looking good, given she'd not been stood up to attention of barked at to sit. Which, frankly, was hardly a surprise given that she'd pretty much just arrived on her beat and had barely reported in that she'd taken over. She'd been on time, which really meant fifteen minutes ahead of the official pass-down time after she'd gotten her assignment for the day from the main office, and she'd not been there long enough to step in it just yet. So, it really couldn't be bad. And turns out, it wasn't. In fact she was being complimented! And... offered a permanent post? That was the sort of thing that usually only those really well-established types would wind up getting after a good long while, or some glad-handing with the right people. So, it most certainly was a surprise all right. "Permanent post ? You got it. Thanks!"

[Ensign Enola - personal quarters]
Enola dropped her hands to her lap and took a deep breath. Why isn't this shit working? She had tried it long enough now, and somehow had already given up hope that it would work today. So she blew out the Vulcan meditation lamp that was routinely in front of her and inhaled the smoke for a moment. Then she put the lamp back on the shelf, and set up her meditation corner properly again. The floor cushion was pushed back into its proper place, and the Vulcan wiped her hand once across the table.
For a moment she wondered what she should do. Of course, she could sleep (maybe that would help), but then she had to expect dreams without meditation. And she would rather be awake for 14 days in a row without meditation than dream once. So option to just sleep is gone. Her second idea was to go to the holosuite, and hone her skills in Romulan martial arts. With or without traditional Romulan sword. But she wiped away that idea as well. If she didn't meditate, a game of Romulan martial arts would probably be very beneficial to her Romulan genes, and guaranteed no one wanted a Romulan Enola. Not even Evoris. Speaking of Evoris, "Computer, locate Ensign Evoris," she muttered, pausing for a moment as she directly contained a response from the computer. [Ensign Evoris is currently on the Ops]. Great.
She sat in her bed for a moment and clasped her hands together. What else could she do? Finally, she gathered some of her things and hurried out the door of her quarters. After all, it couldn't hurt to walk around the station a bit.

The time for feeding had finally begun and after it's isolation in the deepest and darkest of all the realms. It was famished and ready to gorge itself before returning to it's home where it could sleep and no longer worry about being banished. Not that it's punishment had been fair or justified but now with the dark ones gone, the need for revenge had been sated.
However it wasn't going to reveal itself just yet, not until the perfect moment to do so. Although that hadn't stopped it from neutralising it's new food source. If it had physical form it would be grinning at the thought of what it had done so far. Enjoying the feeling of making it's prey confused and if the feeding was successful, they wouldn't know until it was too late and by then it would be gone.
Now all it had to do was wait and observe, before the real feast could begin.

[ T’Laara - T’Laara’s Quarters -> Blue Beta] It was uncharacteristic of T’Laara to sleep in, but the fact remained, as she stared impassively at the chronometer, that it was late. Very late. At least by her standards. Of course, perhaps extra sleep was what she needed at the moment. It would not be the first time she had felt off while living on the station, but this time she was unable to discern any logical cause. That in itself was a bit unsettling. However, there was nothing to do but go on with her day regardless. Quickly getting ready, she decided to get breakfast on the Promenade before trying to get some work done. _____ A short time later, she walked through the doors to the Blue Beta and sat down at an empty booth. Taking out a PADD, she propped it up on the table to read while waiting for her breakfast order. soft tag Leanna Mazal
