[Ensign Enola - hallways -> sickbay]
Enola took one deep breath. It was at least pleasant to hear that he was still functioning as he should. Even if functioning sounded a bit cold, it was still a description that fit best. At least for a Vulcan. Finding herself in sickbay, she puffed once and grabbed the root of her nose with her fingers. Did Evorís have to do that now? She should have...never mind. When the Bajoran addressed her, she took a seat on a biobed as requested, if somewhat reluctantly. It wasn't that she didn't want to go to sickbay, but she didn't really think her condition was bad enough to bother doctors with. especially when there were other patients around who were even worse. When She was scanned, and the Bajoran asked what her symptoms were, she readily gave the information: "I couldn't meditate, and then I wanted to take a walk. While I was doing that, about 15 minutes ago, I felt...", she said, but only then noticed the plant. And Ic. A dull pain went through her and she really had to pull herself together not to show any reaction. Finally, she sat there on her biobed, glanced in his direction, and then looked away again. The doctors would take care of him. This thought was supported when the Bajoran who had scanned her told her not to pay attention to him. She didn't, but his whimpering awakened a kind of maternal instinct in the Vulcan.
"I said I was dizzy and I couldn't meditate," she summarized neutrally once more and kept her gaze intermittently on the man in front of her.

[ Cwm Eliska Bremmer - Ops - Front Ear Station ]Well, it would seem there was some kind of an epidemic of people thundering in, and that was what one Crewman Bremmer got from what was being communicated across Ops. Frankly, she wasn't exactly the right person to advise on the situation; she lacked the basic education most Federationers took for granted, and she certainly was no officer; she was just a grunt who'd just gotten a job policing the Promenade rather than dealing with some kind of station-wide emergency. And now, the Captain wanted to do a deck by deck, presumably door-to-door, sweep that would eventually have to cover every cubic inch of the station. And, well, there weren't enough Security people to get that done in a timely fashion, not when people might fall unconscious and end up injuring themselves seriously while finding the deck. What was needed would be a way to account for as many people as possible, as quickly as possible, and only leave a small minority of people to be swept up and checked in on. "Captain, what you're asking for, that'd take hours and if people are getting hurt passing out they might not have hours, especially if they're alone." Well, officers liked asking for things to get done, but sometimes, well, the realities on the ground were a little different from their vision, which might require some outside the box thinking. "But if we could narrow down who needs checking on, that would really help. How about... Captain, what if we got as many people as we can right where they can be accounted for, and where there's going to be both Security and medical teams if anything goes sideways?"For a moment, Bremmer thought quietly, and snapped her fingers. She knew plenty of people were going to hate the idea she'd just had. Hell, she pretty much had a love-hate relationship going on with that sort of thing herself for while she understood their value they could also be a huge pain in the ass... "How about we run a surprise radiation hazard drill and get everyone to shelter stations? That way we'd know where to look for anyone who's not accounted for instead of having to look everywhere right off the bat."

[[NPC] Dr. Floren Rafa, civilian physician & Ensign Ic Arbrell — Sick Bay, Front Ear] “Nothing else out of the ordinary. Indeterminate onset. Continues to suffer from lack of focus,” he affirmed from the gaps in her story. Rafa set aside the tricorder, readings complete and largely duplicated from the previous results, to perform a more traditional, more energetic physical exam. He began an ancient folk reading of her energies, waving hands around her, as if feeling for changes in the air around her head and shoulders, examining what he could short of grasping her ear. The psychic distress was nearly palpable. But without definitive conclusions, what could he say? Behind him, there was an irregularity in the young man’s desperate rhythmic breathing. For a second, it stopped. A deep breath welcomed a single word— “Enola?”—cracking with emotion. Focus. Paawin would handle him. The plant and its unwelcome leavings could be dealt with later. Normally, he would ask if she’d eaten enough recently, but three similar patients with altered consciousness hardly suggests individual responsibility. Unless there was a dangerous ritual fasting he was not apprised of, but Rafa had been meticulous about adding every known spiritual holiday and cultural observance to his personal calendar, to ensure his competence in others’ care. It was impossible that he’d missed one. Nothing otherwise accounted for this. But, as he always did, Rafa counted. Two was a coincidence, three a pattern, four a trend— “Ensign, do you think you can remain awake? I understand your distress, but I believe it was a blessing that you were not able to meditate. It may indeed be dangerous to do so. If I may ask more questions— do you know the others? Have you shared anything, visited the same location, anything that may connect you?”

[Ensign Enola - sickbay]
Under an raised brow, Enola watched how the Bajoran fidgeted in front of her It probably wasn't worth mentioning that Vulcans didn't like it at all when another person gestured so close to them. But she bit her tongue and didn't reply anything. When she heard her name come out of Ic's mouth, she gave the Betazoid a reassuring look. "Ic," she said neutrally, nodding once in his direction. She didn't care if someone scanned her or tried to read her the old-fashioned way. It had to be time for a quick nod. His question acknowledged her. "Yes, I can stay awake," she said only briefly, thinking about his following words, "I think it was a blessing that they couldn't meditate. "In what way could meditating make my condition worse?" she asked. "Yes, I know the others," she only replied, having to pull herself together very hard not to turn her gaze back to the others. Petty Officer Velal, Ensign Arbrell, T'Laara. What did these people all have in common? Velal is a Betazoid...no, she is a Betazoid-Romulan hybrid. Arbrell is a Betazoid and T'Laara is a Vulcan. Evoris is a Romulan-Vulcan hybrid. Just like herself. Enola grabbed her temples once and kneaded them, though it didn't hurt there. It helped with thinking and it was probably some attempt to ward off the feeling of dizziness. Then she shook her head. She couldn't think of a connection off the top of her head. Maybe this was the first sign of a concentration disorder? She quickly pushed that thought aside. She is a Vulcan, actually the word concentration disorder should not be in her vocabulary! She gave the Bajoran a quick hand signal. "Give me a minute," She knew that time was a commodity they couldn't afford right now, but a minute had to be time for their deliberations. She snapped her fingers. "All victims so far are telepathically inclined " she then said after a while, which certainly stretched a minute.

[Lt. Paawin Riyo - Front Ear - Sickbay]Hearing his name, Riyo glanced over, seemingly aware of Jack's presence for the first time. "Thanks," he replied to the information. Gesturing to a nurse for assistance, he cautiously approached the plant that seemed to be quivering, and carefully picked up the unconscious man it had left, moving him to the nearest bio bed. Running the initial scan with a tricorder again, he immediately realized the newest patient was Betazoid, and felt a slight sinking sensation in his chest. "Jack... Do me a favor and check on Lea for me?" he asked as he brought up the arms for the neural scans once more. Please let her be okay...He couldn't worry about her right now, he had three unconscious patients and a moving plant to focus on. While the scans were running on Ic, he moved back to Jovireh and T'Laara to double check the findings before addressing the other doctor in the room. "Run a detailed scan of her paracortex. It's the only abnormality I'm finding in the others." His attention shifted slightly to Enola as he explained. "Have you been having difficulty with your telepathy since the symptoms started?" He was moving around Sickbay as he spoke, grabbing a PADD and starting to compile the findings of the scans already completed. Once he'd included the information from their newest patient, he tapped his com badge. =A="Sickbay to Captain Baker. In a moment I'll be sending you the scans of the four patients we have down here... I could definitely use your expertise with telepaths."=A= Thea was the one who reviewed his own scans after Lea had created the link between them. He valued her input in the field he had so little experience in. Just because she no longer worked as a doctor, didn't mean that knowledge went away.

[Ensign Evorís - Operations, Front Ear] He could feel it now in his hands, the nothing clawing through his blood. Numbness spread from the tips of his fingers, a strange sensation for Evorís, who frequently relied on the additional Vulcan nerve endings to ground himself to his surroundings. He continued to scan and adjust the parameters of the signals on his console, but the screen felt strange beneath his hands, as though it were further away. Evorís pushed it aside as a side effect of his fading katra. There was no time now for trivial grievances. There was time, however, for trivial relief, which he felt against his will as Ensign Mila arrived and quickly discovered an anomaly on the sensors. (How long would he have allowed it to go unnoticed, he wondered, already admonishing himself for the oversight.) When Bremmer suggested a radiation drill, Evorís piped up with a contribution of his own. “Captain, I should be able to monitor biosignatures throughout the station based on species. If we go into a lockdown, I can pinpoint the exact location of those who have not reported to shelter stations, and relay them back to the Security team.”Even as numbness gripped his fingers, and fatigue wrapped its tendrils around his mind, he began the preliminary steps to do just that, should she approve the suggestion. “I would also recommend that those on the station feeling unwell be instructed to report to Sickbay, so they are available for treatment if one is discovered.”Excluding himself, of course. It was a sacrifice he was more than willing to make.

[Operations - Command Deck] Her plan had seemed straightforward at first, simple even or so Thea had thought before Bremmer offered her own opinions about her set of orders. Giving them careful consideration as the Captain was reminded as to why she loved this job. Whilst she was the one to issue instructions and make the final decisions. It was ultimately the crew making suggestions and offering alternatives, that ensured the difference between success and failure. Besides it had a lot of merit and made sense, whilst lowering the risks of panicking the residents. " You raise some good points Crewman and you have my permission to begin the drill, I'll do an announcement shortly" Thea, replied as Riyo made contact from Sickbay. Appreciating how he needed her expertise, especially when Telepaths were mentioned, which raised both her curiosity and interest as to how it could be connected. =/\= Acknowledged Doctor, please direct it to one of the Ops consoles and I'll let you know what I find =/\=There was no point in her returning to her office and commandeering an auxiliary console was easy enough, so she could remain in the heart of the investigation. When Evoris then made a contribution, Thea thought it was another good idea as was his second suggestion. This kind of efficiency and quick thinking would allow them to be one step ahead as she responded to him. " Another great idea, go ahead and do that Ensign and I agree, that anyone feeling unwell should report to Sickbay, have secondary, tertiary and the clinic on standby just in case. I'll also mention it in my announcement".Plan of action in place, Thea then initiated a station wide announcement. =/\= Attention all station residents, this is your Captain speaking. In a moment we will begin a surprise radiation hazard drill. Please report to the designated shelters immediately. If anyone is feeling unwell and unable to do so, please make your way to one of the Sickbays =/\=

[ Seamus - Sickbay] As Riyo acknowledged him, Jack felt somewhat better now that he had shared what he knew. Although when the man he considered a friend and not because he was with Lea, saw to the prone form of Ic. The barman realised that he hadn't seen the Betazoid or the plant that had brought him here, until he was carried to the bio bed. That could be explained away with his concern for T'Laara and being a witness to whatever all of this was and to be fair having a plant deliver a patient wasn't really all that bizarre when you lived on Front Ear. You kind of got used to the random and often daily strangeness and occurrences. So he didn't really think about it too much, other than it's obvious sentience that had saved Ic. His arrival had then prompted Riyo to ask Jack to check on Lea, which he didn't hesitate to acknowledge, especially if this thing was also affecting Betazoids. Understanding the concern behind his words as he replied. " Sure" he said simply before hurrying out of Sickbay. [Leanna's Office - Blue Beta] Once he was out of Sickbay, Jack had ran to the nearest lift and impatiently let it carry him to his desired deck. Gearing himself up to do the same, the second the doors opened and right through until he reached the office door. Not caring about the looks he got or the exertion, especially the moment he saw Lea on the sofa. "Lea.. it's Jack, time to wake up" He almost pleaded, hoping that she was just asleep. After a few more attempts and being joined by Seamus, his heart sank when they realised that she was the same as the others currently in Sickbay. " I'll contact Riyo" Jack offered as Seamus made another call to Ops. =/\= Jack to Sickbay, I'm sorry Riyo but I found Lea unconscious in her office. Seamus thought she was napping so didn't think to check on her... he's arranging the emergency transport =/\= Of course he wanted to go with her, but he had to remain to help with the drill evacuation. Seamus had also remained close by, wishing that things could of been different as he made a second emergency request to Ops. =/\= Seamus to Ops, requesting another emergency transport to Sickbay, this time it's for Leanna Mazal. She'll be going alone as myself and the rest of the staff will be evacuating the bar in accordance with the drill =/\=

[ Ensign Ic Arbrell & [NPC] Dr. Floren Rafa — Sickbay, Front Ear] He focused on Enola’s voice, listening without hearing or perhaps vice versa, until found himself moved again. Initially, Ic recoiled from touch ( it was so loud in his ears like kerelian thunder it was loud and burned with the recall of closeness and vines), but uncertainty permitted it, despite himself. Unwilling to be handled, even in this state, he helped the doctor help him onto the bed, finally taking his shaking hands away from wet and reddened eyes. It was then he realized that the migraine had changed. The pain was the same, but the usual visual of a radial spectrum seemed to have faded to black. Everything had. Black blinked rapidly, unseeing. All victims so far are telepathically inclined.Ic stared blankly upward from his daze. And then he felt the shift and the closeness around his head again. His breathing echoed in his ears in his heartbeat in the darkness in the tube— “No! Get me out get me out get me out!” he cried as desperate hands pushed ineffectually at the cold machine around his head. At the bedside adjacent, Dr. Floren sighed. This was why he was a specialist, not an emergency physician— “Because,” he told Enola in an eerie tone of calm, “meditation is an induced state of altered consciousness that it may be difficult to return from, if the others who arrived unconscious are any indication. If you’re already compromised, you could fall asleep during meditation, and we need you rational and awake as long as possible, hm?”It was for her own good, as much as it was for the doctors’ and the other victims’, as she put it, sakes. “Now, Dr. Paawin wants me to do this his way,” he said with a vague smile. “If you’d lay down so we can get that fancy neural scan, please, it shouldn’t take long.”Once that was underway, Rafa turned to his colleague with the slightest tilt of his head that heavily implied the plant. “It knew to bring the boy,” he murmured tensely. “What are we going to do about it? If it’s sentient enough to do all this, we need to know if it’s affected, too, or if we can— ”The page that came in to Riyo about his partner told Rafa that the problem of the plant would have to wait. “It will be fine.”

[Ensign Enola - Sickbay]
When Enola heard Ic crying, a painful stab went through her again. "It's all right Ic, I'm here," she said in a Vulcan tone, glancing at him before listening to the doctor's explanation and nodding at him to show she understood what he was saying. Yes, she also hoped that she would remain rational for as long as possible, even if it was difficult for her at the moment. Then she lay down on the biobed so that the Bajoran could do his little test undisturbed. "You could start" she said when she was lying properly, but did not close her eyes. It was too risky.

[ Cwm Eliska Bremmer - Ops - Front Ear Station ]Well, with officers it was hard to tell how something would be received from the bottom. Either it would be accepted and worked into their own plans, or it would be thrown out right off the bat. But, it would seem Baker was all right with it... but rather than order one of the Ops people to do it, she wanted her to do it? Now that would be... interesting. "Aye-aye," she replied uneasily as she found herself an unoccupied console. Getting it to recognize her as Security and reconfigure itself to that role was elementary, but now, she was working her way through the menus to get to the appropriate alarms. And while she was doing so, she could hear the Vulcan Ensign say just what she was thinking; get people where they can be accounted for, internal sensors get to pick up the stragglers and they get mopped up by Security. But what followed, getting those feeling off to one of the medical facilities, also worked well within the confines of the drill; after all, the Sickbays were heavily shielded for that very reason. And, just as the Captain was giving her announcement did the virtually technologically-illiterate Crewman find her way to the appropriate control menus, and she hit the button that would sound the radiation alarm throughout the whole station. Instantly, the Red Alert klaxon sounded station-wide in every last cubic inch of the station, but it was not the lurid red glow that filled the corridors, but a sickly green light that pulsed from the lamps, and the wall panels started showing the universal symbol for radiation hazards. And, the computer's voice, cool as ever, sounded from speakers everywhere as recreational facilities and messhalls were being shut down. =A= Radiation alarm, radiation alarm. All station residents and personnel to shelter stations; designated personnel, man your stations. Radiation alarm, radiation alarm..."=A= And, the message kept repeating itself. That is, it would until such a time as all shelters and all stations would have reported in... which would take probably a good ten minutes assuming people weren't dragging their feet.

[T’Laara - ?]
Unable to register the transport to Sickbay, or the chaos that was now going on around her, T’Laara remained motionless on the biobed. Doctors ran their tests, and other patients arrived.
She was unaware of them all. In her mind, she was alone.
She stood in the desert, with nothing but the burning sun overhead and red rocks as far as she could see. The air was still, the landscape completely lifeless under an orange sky and stifling heat. Aimlessly, T’Laara started to walk. Any direction was the same, but she knew she had to move- to find the end of this place, to find something. And yet, there was only one word to describe her situation.
Lost.

[Shadow Creature] Taking on this form had proven to be most effective as it twisted itself and projected the Betazoid's fears back at her. Feeding on the fear, the adrenaline and all of the delicious emotions, especially when she fell into it's final trap. Prowling around the edge of the cage as she desperately tried to find an escape. However it simply taunted her, mocking her weakness as her pathetic friends attempted to wake her from a slumber that she would not wake from. " No one can save you from this, you're all mine now".Drawing in the shock and surprise, the shadow grew bigger, shaping itself into something more humanoid like. A shriek of maniacal glee followed as it became aware of the two others who had begun to show terror and fear, thanks to the dreams it had conjured. The timing had been most fortuitous as it could be closer to feast on them. It didn't say a word as it left a piece of itself behind in order to continue feeding, gaining strength as it disappeared into the outside world. As it travelled to those they named Jovireh and T'Laara, the shadow being cackled in glee, upon seeing the other chaos that it had brought about. The added emotions of those who could not see or feel the way it's victims did, strengthened it further. Giving them a glimpse as it split itself into two. Then one shadow sought out Jov, entering her dream and gave chase, through the empty ship. " There's no Di'ranov here". The second shadow was quick to find T'Laara, lost in the heat of her world. " Are you lost Dearie?".

[Lt. Paawin Riyo - Front Ear - Sickbay]The message back from Jack made his heart sink and his stomach twist. Riyo didn't blame him or Seamus for not checking on her sooner, though. Until patients started showing up in Sickbay, they had no idea anyone was at risk. =A="I understand, thank you. I'll keep you updated."=A= Before he could do much more, the most recent patient began to panic, and Riyo rushed to his side, placing a firm yet gentle hand over his wrist. "It's alright, you're in Sickbay. I'm Dr. Paawin, and I'm just running a couple scans so we can figure out what's wrong. Almost done... There!" The moment the necessary scan was complete, he hit a button on the mechanical arm and it withdrew back into the biobed. "You're friend Enola is here, she's being examined by Dr. Floren right now, but as soon as he's done she can come keep you company, alright?" As the other doctor mentioned the possibility of the plant being affected, Riyo regarded it thoughtfully. It was certainly acting as though something was wrong, shrinking itself into a corner and quivering, but judging by the way its bud was focused on the patient it brought in, he was led to believe its behavior was more from worry than ailment. Grabbing a tricorder, he moved towards the plant, lifting the device slowly. "I'm... just running a few scans, okay? Just to make sure you're alright. It won't hurt at all..." He had no idea if the plant could even understand him, but it didn't make any move to pull away or stop him, so he began taking the readings. The sudden blaring alarm and flashing green lights made him jump, having momentarily forgotten the warning Thea had issued minutes before. "Computer, disable alarm in Sickbay, authorization Acting Chief Medical Officer Paawin-Gamma-Theta-One!" Instantly the alarm silenced and the lights returned to normal, and Riyo breathed a sigh of relief. Finishing the scans of the plant, he set the tricorder aside to examine the readings in a moment. Double checking to make sure he had all the information on his three patients gathered together, he sent the data packet to Ops with an Urgent notification so Thea would be alerted to whatever console it went to as soon as it arrived. He noticed the two unconscious patients showed an increase in delta wave activity... At least their brains were functioning enough to dream. That was usually a good sign.

This wasn't right. It didn't matter which room she check, which corridor she jogged down, the ship was empty. The ship was never empty. Where was everyone? "Di'ranov? Ri'ranov?[fn]Father, Mother[/fn]" Her own voice echoed strangely, sounding distant like a whisper although she was shouting. Another voice suddenly spoke from behind her - solid and firm, its force striking her almost tangibly. Jovireh spun around, searching for the source. "La-hok yuun uzor nek varet viyuun![fn]Rough translation - Show yourself![/fn]" Her heart was racing as her gaze searched the empty corridor around her, hands flexing into fists at her side as she began to doubt the reality of what she had heard. There was no one else here.
