[Personal Log Entry: During S1M8]
I'll be damned... there's more? Talk about poor writing. No one appreciates a critical stage right after owning the Boss Level.
[Forget Me Not (Bar), Freecloud]
It felt like sand when I tried to swallow. With each step, I tried to think of someway to bring this to an end without the rest of that Reman's goons lighting me up the second I crossed that threshold. And then I heard the door open. Sounds like they got tired of waiting. I raised the disruptor and pulled the trigger. A single blast raced through the air and struck the side of the door. "What in the actual fuck?!"
It was after the fact, but I recognized that it was actually Bivar that had come back into the bar, and he wasn't alone. He had brought reinforcements... more of Jaja's men. And pretty soon, the woman herself appeared, looking over the damage that had befallen her bar. "Ms. Sh'qaleq? I don't recall trashing my bar as part of our arrangement," said the Zibalian woman.
"It was always a potential hazard implied by your agreement to see me on that transport," Kova said. The Andorian took a step forward, still staring in Jaja's direction. "What the hell happened out there? Where are the rest of that Reman's men?"
Jaja's eyes narrowed as she stared at the Andorian. Her eyes never left Kova's as she finally spoke, breaking the silence that had lingered between them. "I protect my investments, Ms. Sh'qaleq. My people moved in as soon as key check-ins were missed. They outnumbered those men as soon as they exited the building. They transported away shortly after their weapons were secured." Jaja exhaled and shook her head. "Speaking of investments... I believe you have a transport to catch. Bivar."
The Cardassian stepped forward and gestured towards the door. Kova stood there a moment, staring at Jaja. She finally nodded, and began to move towards the door. She hadn't stepped through the door when Jaja spoke out once more. "Those codes, Ms. Sh'qaleq?"
Kova smirked as she turned to face Jaja once more. "I protect my investments as well. You'll get the codes... once I"m aboard the transport. That was the agreement." The Andorian then went on her way. Bivar saw her to the terminal, and made certain she boarded the transport. It wasn't long after that, that the codes had been sent to Jaja, giving her a hefty boost in capital and cancelling an undesired membership.
Javik stormed through the corridor until he reached the doors at the end of it. He found himself coming to an abrupt halt as they didn't readily part at his approach. The Reman's eyes narrowed, and he clinched his fist and pounded upon it once. They soon parted, and he wasted no time stepping through. "Why did you signal our withdraw? I had the --"
"You had nothing," said a voice, its owner staring at the code on the screen. "I was able to salvage most of this file from the interface before it completely degraded. It'll give us a starting point on our weapons upgrade. The fusion of Tholian weaponry with our own could prove very advantageous in securing prominence in this region."
Javik exhaled, frustrated. "So, what's next?"
"Don't get too comfortable. Pack your bags. You're going back out in the field. We're fast-tracking this. Pretty soon, you'll personally oversee it's testing." Image of the coding obtained gave way to images of the USS Mac and the NSS Soteria. "A rare opportunity has presented itself."
