[Alliance Petty Officer Conor Lynch - Crew Gym, Deck 32]Lynch leaned back, just barely beyond the reach of her punch when she'd lunged. He corrected his footing quickly enough, his muscles proving to be capable of memory, and continued with their stepping and stalking. She asked a very difficult question to answer at first, why he left Starfleet was a very complicated and personal issue, but why he stuck around was easier to answer. "It's me Ma, she-"Right between the eyes."Gah!" He exclaimed, form forgotten as his hands whipped back to cover his nose. It had broken before the pain had even registered. It was the curse of the fighter, the boxer; you break your nose once, and you best be prepared for it to break again. And again. "Bye doze!"He stumbled backward, leaned forward and when he pulled his hands away he stared down at them, fearful of what he'd find. "Jaybis, that's lots o' blood." He wavered on his feet as a dizzy spell engulfed him.

[Front Ear - Crew Gym]She felt his nose give way beneath her fist the moment she heard the crack, and as he recoiled her own hands flew up to cover her mouth in a gasp of horror. "hnaev!" she swore loudly, before rushing over and putting a hand on his shoulder to steady him. "I am so, so sorry!" Her gaze darted around the gym, finding the person using the machine closest to them. "Hey! Get a medic down here!" She ordered loud enough to attract the person's attention. They looked over, startled, then immediately nodded and rushed off at the sight of all the blood. Jovireh turned her attention back to Conor. This was definitely not what she'd had in mind when she decided to help him feel better. "Here, you should sit down." She tried to guide him, knowing he was likely already lightheaded. Shock often set in quickly and did a number on a body. Keeping one hand on his shoulder, she held her other up to her mouth, using her teeth to undo the wrap and shaking it off before holding it up to his nose. "It'll hurt, but you need to try and stop the bleeding. A medic is on the way." He was in no condition to walk to Sickbay, and they really didn't need to be trailing blood through the decks. "I am really sorry..."

[Alliance Petty Officer Conor Lynch & Petty Officer 3rd Class Kellen Gates - Crew Gym, Deck 32]"Down is good," he repeated as the blood dripped in that very direction. Conor Lynch allowed the woman to direct him to safety, though in truth, he had little choice in the matter and he was indeed quite light-headed. He let out a grunt of pain when he obediently pressed the wrapping to his nose at her suggestion. She was right again; it did hurt. "S'okay, s'okay, s'no big deal." His eyes were watering, and his vision was a little blurry, but he felt that he should be consoling poor Jovireh. "S'not yer fault!" A wave of nausea overcame him then, and he promptly clamped his mouth shut. With his elbows low on his thighs, close to his knees, he leaned over in attempt to stop the dizziness. "Get him upright!" Called a voice from across the gym. Kellen Gates, who had happened to be enjoying his lunchtime swim, had been the closest when the call came in. He strode purposefully toward the pair, his hair still somewhat damp. He stopped only to retrieve the emergency medkit from a panel beneath the public replicator. "Head up, not down!" He continued to bark out orders, his normally quiet, restrained voice carrying effortlessly in his haste to get to his new patient. "Ah, howeya Gatesy," Lynch greeted, a strange grin on his face. Then the man leaned over again, and puked. Kellen Gates stopped before them and sighed a rather put-upon sigh. "Alright. What happened here, then?" He eyed Jovireh for a quick moment, before bending to open the medkit and retrieve an empty hypospray.

[Crewman Jovireh Velal - Front Ear - Crew Gym]At least she was able to get him sitting against the wall without further injuring him. The last thing he needed was to fall on his face. Conor also obediently held the wrap to his nose, which she was grateful for because it would undoubtedly hurt worse if she did it for him. When he then started reassuring her, her jaw dropped slightly as she just stared at him. "I punched you!" Even though they were sparring, she should have held back more on the face strikes. He leaned forward, clearly getting nauseous, and her hand that was on his shoulder rubbed it a little in subconscious comfort. Hearing a voice calling out from across the gym, she looked over to see the medic walking towards them. Thankfully Conor also looked up - thus correcting his position. At least momentarily... before he started puking on the floor between his feet. Jovireh grimaced slightly, before responding to the medic's question. "We were sparring... I punched, and he didn't blocked." At least it had been a simple-enough accident to explain. Hopefully the break was just as simple to repair.

[Alliance Petty Officer Conor Lynch & Petty Officer 3rd Class Kellen Gates - Crew Gym, Deck 32]"Ah sure, isn't that the idea!" Conor Lynch exclaimed, his voice slurred as he argued with Jovireh over whose fault it was that his nose was broken. He wiped his mouth, his stomach still churning, as the Gates fella got to work. Despite not being involved with the Fleet anymore, he still absolutely trusted them to do the best thing. Kellen Gates listened to Jovireh's explanation, a worried expression flitting across his face only momentarily. Not blocking could be a mistake, a miscalculation, but it was so basic in sparring that Gatesy hoped it wasn't a symptom of a different kind of problem. "Okay," he eventually said, pressing a hypospray loaded with an analgesic and anti-nausea combo against Lynch's neck. "We're going to stop the bleeding, Mr. Lynch, then I will repair what I can with a field osteogenic stimulator. Once you're feeling a little better, we'll get you to Sickbay to make sure there's no long-term damage."He glanced up at Jovireh. "Would you please place both your hands on his shoulders for a few moments, I would like him steady." Then he looked back at his patient. "I will be gentle, but you will feel this." He reached out, thumbs on either side of the Irishman's swollen nose, and prepared. "Alrigh'. Do what ye haveta." Then he screamed.

[Crewman Jovireh Velal - Front Ear - Crew Gym]Jov paused when Conor reminded her that punching people was the idea. He did have a point there. As the medic instructed her to keep Conor steady, she complied by shifting hands and reaching one arm behind him to brace both of his shoulders. As the medic put his hands on either side of Conor's nose, however, she realized what he was about to do and her own stomach churned. Clenching her jaw, she diverted her gaze, but couldn't block out the scream. Her grip tightened on the man's shoulders, and she had the impulse to apologize again, and briefly considered his frustration over it might be enough to distract him from the pain. But thus far she had a poor track record of distracting him not going the way she intended... And Gates might get a little peeved by their continued bickering. Lesson #2 at the Academy... Never piss off the medical professionals.

[Alliance Petty Officer Conor Lynch & Petty Officer 3rd Class Kellen Gates - Crew Gym, Deck 32]Lynch felt Jovireh's hands on his shoulders and focused on that for the few torturous moments that his face was in Gates' hands. As her grip tightened, his own hands snapped up to cover hers. But it was over quickly, and even though Conor Lynch felt as though he'd just run several marathons - his chest panting, sweat dripping from his brow - the pain was subsiding quickly. Kellen Gates ran the osteogenic stimulator over the fractured bone once, twice, then paused and wiped away some of the quickly drying blood with a sterilised cotton cloth. "I think that should do, Mr. Lynch. You'll need to visit Sickbay, sooner rather than later, to get it checked out completely. There may be aesthetic work required, which I'm sure Dr. Baker would be happy to help with, but we won't know until the swelling subsides a little. Understood?""Ya, I get ye. Cheers, man." His eyes were still watering a little, but Lynch managed a smile and a thumbs up for the medic, and then glanced up a little sheepishly at Jovireh. "Never a dull moment, as me Ma would say."Kellen Gates shook his head, and with a wave, wandered off to get his stuff. Maybe he'd have time for a quick jaunt to the holodeck. There was a new spy holoprogram with his name on it.

[Crewman Jovireh Velal - Front Ear - Crew Gym]Jov hadn't been expecting to feel his hands grip hers, and glanced down in surprise. Then immediately regretted it as Gates hadn't finished yet. Closing her eyes, she willed her own nausea to subside, and refused to open them again until the medic said he was finished. Waving with a thanks, she dropped to the floor to sit beside Conor, knowing he would probably still be a bit queasy and lightheaded for a little longer. "Well... That was definitely not what I had planned for today..." She stated with a small laugh. He was right about there never being a dull moment though. That was something she was quickly learning about life on Front Ear. "I don't know about you... But I could use a drink after that." She glanced over at him, grateful at least that the bleeding had stopped. "And you should probably eat something as soon as your stomach settles." No point in trying to eat immediately if he was just going to get sick again. Speaking of which... Her gaze swept across the floor that looked like a crime scene. They were going to have to clean that up, weren't they?

[Alliance Petty Officer Conor Lynch - Crew Gym, Deck 32]Conor Lynch was indeed still quite dizzy, and waved a little from side to side, but the worst of the pain was over and his mood was quickly returning to normal. "I'm a man who very rarely says no to a pint, Jovireh," he informed her matter-of-factly, saying her name correctly, though changed somewhat as a result of his accent and recently broken nose. "And t'would appear I've not much left in me gut."He took the chance to peer at the mess he'd made near their feet and didn't bother suppressing a shudder. "That'll be a health and safety issue," he told her, before trying to force himself upward. His knees complained, and he wobbled dangerously on his way up, but he eventually got there. "'Sides, don't want anyone stealing a sample of it to clone me or anything." He looked around for his work-out towel, obviously deadly serious.

[Crewman Jovireh Velal - Front Ear - Crew Gym]She was glad that he accepted her offer of food and drinks. Thankfully this mishap hadn't made him want nothing to do with her. She rose to her feet as he seemed to have the same idea she did about the mess on the floor. Though as he stood as well, he was clearly in no shape to be bending over cleaning anything. He'd probably fall on his face, break his nose worse, and then there'd be even more of a mess to clean up. "You have two options," she told him, unaware that she had reverted to her firm tone of voice she had used with overly intoxicated patrons on 173. "You can either sit back down out of the way, or go get cleaned up." Jov had an idea he wasn't the type of person who would just sit idly by and watch her clean up after him, which is why she suggested he get started on washing the blood off himself.

[Alliance Petty Officer Conor Lynch - Crew Gym, Deck 32]Conor Lynch knew all about assertive women. His midget mother was tiny, but fierce, and when she told you to do something, you bloody well did it. So when Jovireh outlined his options for him, he didn't even consider talking back. He looked down at his hands, which were red with his drying blood, and his sweat-stained workout garb. "I'll go, so..." He ventured, looking over again and checking to make sure she was still in agreement. He rose, again unsteadily, but the pain in his face was dissipating. Replacing it was a slight throb in his arms, reminding him of the workout he'd subjected himself to before his sparring partner had tried to kill him. "Won't be a tick!" The thought of a pint could light a fire under most people, but especially Conor. He deserved it, he decided, sure he could start his diet again tomorrow when his nose wasn't as broken. Approximately ten minutes later he emerged from the locker rooms, freshly washed and looking a little less like the mess he felt he was within. His dark hair, slightly damp from the sonic shower, was slicked back and he was wearing some comfortable off-duty slacks. The only sign of any incident was the discolouration beginning to bloom around his eyes. "Pints?" Was all he said by way of greeting.

[Crewman Jovireh Velal - Front Ear - Crew Gym]Cleaning up the floor had been quick work, so instead of standing around waiting for him she had gone to the other locker room to wash up as well. Since she hadn't had time to work up a sweat, she didn't feel the need to shower, and just focused on removing any splatters of his blood from her hands and smoothing her hair back into place. Putting her remaining hand wrap back in her bag, she pulled her tank top back on, and returned to the gym just a moment before him. Hearing him behind her, she turned around, smiling when she immediately noticed he looked far better than he had a few minutes ago. "Let's go," she agreed. [Promenade - Blue Beta] She had been planning on giving him the option of where they went, but as she recalled the choices for both food and alcohol were limited, and she'd been impressed with the selection of the Blue Beta when she went there earlier in the week. Not to mention the people she had met there were quite friendly. "Bar or table?" She asked him as they entered the restaurant. She didn't recognize the people working that day, but it would likely take a few visits to get to know everyone.

[Alliance Petty Officer Conor Lynch - Blue Beta, Promenade]Conor Lynch certainly approved of the choice. The Blue Beta had the best pints on the whole station, and that was because his pal Seamus was involved. The man knew his beer. "A table, I reckon?" He offered in the half-suggesting, half-checking way that he had. While they moved toward a free booth, his eyes scanned the bar for his fellow Irishman. It was, admittedly, a little early in the day for Conor's usual visits, so perhaps that was why a few of the Beta faces weren't as familiar to him. Once he'd sat down, he plucked a thin PADD containing the digitized menu and began to make a show of perusing it. "Well, Jovireh, what's ticklin' yer fancy?" He asked with a boyish grin, though he was completely unaware of any sort of double-entendre he might have stumbled on to. Once a server materialised, he happily gave his order. "A pint of Shay's new stuff, if ya please, the pilsner." With the most important part out of the way, he leaned back, a contented expression on his face. It began to fade quickly and melt, however, when he realised his faux pas. "Ah I'm sorry," he said to his companion. "I believe I was s'posed to have ya go first?" His ma had always said he was a charmless oaf.

[Crewman Jovireh Velal - Front Ear - Blue Beta]Following him to the booth, she set her gym bag on the inside of the seat and settled in next to it. When Conor asked what she felt like, she grinned and picked up the other menu padd. "Something strong," she replied simply. Last time she was here she hadn't had a chance to really examine the menu, so she was still browsing when the waiter arrived and Conor placed his order. As he then apologized for ordering before her, she shook her head with a small laugh. "I am not well versed in human manners, so don't worry about it." She'd always felt whoever was ready first, ordered first, that way they didn't have to wait on the indecisive one. It seemed much simpler that way. Setting the padd down, she looked at the server. "I'll go with the Argellian whiskey on the rocks, and the sauteed steak and shrimp with a side of kimden rolls." Her gaze shifted back to Conor. "Think you can keep any food down yet?" Jov was still worried about him, but wouldn't pressure him to eat if he didn't feel up to it.

[Alliance Petty Officer Conor Lynch - Blue Beta, Promenade]An easy smile tugged on his mouth as his companion waved away his apology. "Good. I can't say I'm well-versed in them myself." He guessed he wasn't a very good human. Or a gentleman? His ma had all of these rules she'd tried to batter into him as he was growing up, and even as a grown up, but aside from a few unusual, but often apt phrases, he'd forgotten most of them. His interest piqued at her order, he leaned forward a little in his seat to pay more attention to her and what she was saying. "Jaysis, that sounds great. I think I could manage that." He looked back up at the server and added to his request of a pint. "I'll have what she's havin'. Tanks."As soon as the staff-member left, something occurred to Lynch and he turned a concerned expression toward her. "Now, Jovireh, tell me. What exactly might one expect to find in a kim-then roll?" Jovireh Velal
