[Runabout Roundabout - Planet's Surface] Thea certainly appreciated Sven checking on her, before he began to follow her orders by picking up Isaiah using a fireman's lift. " I'm okay" she assured him as he then took Isaiah out of the damaged runabout. Knowing that he would be okay, enabled Thea to focus as Crewman Duff then asked for some help with Aravis, after Sven had left her in charge of the injured flight officer. " I can help Crewman" she offered, unsure about how much of a drop it was between the ship or the ground. However they would no doubt come up with a suitable way to get everyone down safely as Carlisle confirmed it was her and tried to explain her sudden appearance. Agreeing with the civilian that any further explanation could wait, especially as she was keen to help them. Listening as she came up with an idea as to how she could do that, which in itself raised some questions. Although considering their circumstances, they could be left for now. " We can definitely talk about it later and I appreciate the offer of help, so yes I'm okay with you checking the engineering systems once we're all out. Then you can come join us outside so we can regroup and go from there".Thea trusted Carlisle as the redhead had been invaluable during the tense moments of Galaxyvision and doubted that she was here to cause any trouble. With a friendly smile in her direction, Thea then turned her attention to Aravis and Alice. " I'm going to check how far we have to go to get out of here, then have the others ready to assist so we can do this safely".Making her way to the hatch, Thea looked down and noted that it wasn't too steep of a drop. Relief washing through her as she saw Isaiah awake. " We may need some help to get Lieutenant Aravis out of the shuttle" she called down, before talking to Alice. " Let's get ready to lower her down".

{Quoted Posts} [Runabout Roundabout] In the chaos of the crash, anything not secured was in the process of being scattered throughout the vehicle. From someone’s unattended bag of gear, a device went skidding across the floor. After a particularly hard bump, the device activated. Caught in the momentum, a red-haired female shimmered into view, currently somersaulting across the floor. After what felt like an eternity, but was really only seconds, Carlisle came to a stop, and put her hand against a console to steady herself. ”Oof, that’s tingly!” She quickly snatched her hand back, and noted the sparks emanating from the machine. Her head was more than a bit fuzzy from the deep sleep mode and sudden activation. ”Lt. Oo- no. No.That’s not right. He’s not here. I’m here. Where’s here? Or maybe more importantly, why’s here? And why does it smell like a Ferengi dinner party that’s been busted up by the cops?” Her nose wrinkled, and she blinked looking around in confusion. The hazy fog of smoke hung acridly in the air from several small fires. Fire suppression systems should be coming online soonish, if they weren’t damaged. There should be first aid kits for the wounded. She glanced around, trying to determine what she should do. What was her purpose here, assistance? [ Lt. jg Aravis - Roundabout - Planet's Surface] ' I can't get them back online,' Aravis replied shortly to Quinn. ' The best I can do is get down us semi-level.' She leaned her face into her arm to wipe away another trickle of blood that was going to get into her eye. The runabout was buffeted by several more trees, and hanging vines whipped past the viewscreen. They bounced once and tilted as their momentum continued to carry them forward. Aravis let out a surprised shriek as the vessel came to a sudden halt, tilted nose up at a slight cant with the massive branch of a long-ago fallen tree only centimeters from breaking through the viewscreen in front of her nose. The dead tree was covered in moss and vines and shuddered slightly from the impact of the runabout hitting it. There were still several small fires burning, but the fire suppression system didn't seem to be working. Aravis stood and started to ask, ' Is everyone okay?' when a stab of pain and nausea coursed through her and she added the contents of her own stomach to those some of the others had already deposited before sinking to the deck unconscious. [PO2 Jovireh Velal - Runabout Roundabout]The stench of vomit eventually reached her nose, making her own stomach turn, but she grit her teeth and focused on the seat in front of her. Jov was quickly distracted however by a person tumbling past her. She spun around to check on them, but words failed her when she realized that the woman on the ground had not been one of those who boarded the runabout. Where the hell did she come from? But there was no time to question it as she was flung forward against the restraints as the vessel came to a sudden stop. She paused only a moment to make sure they weren't going to plummet farther before undoing the straps and getting out of her seat. Grabbing the fire extinguisher once more, she put out the rest of the small fires before turning towards the stranger. "You alright?" The redhead looked familiar... but given she wasn't in uniform - and definitely had not been part of the boarding party - she wasn't Starfleet. "Commander Aune, want to deal with a stowaway?"The Petty Officer had her own job to do. Returning the extinguisher to its storage location, she moved to the hatch and pulled the tricorder off her belt. They hadn't quite landed... but the runabout wasn't going anywhere, either. The ground was only a meter or two below them though, safe enough to drop. Jovireh opened the hatch as far as she could before it got stopped by the tree trunk, and peered down at the moss-covered ground below. She really hated blind drops... Putting the tricorder back on her belt, she pulled out her phaser and dove forward out of the runabout. Her body curved through the air during the short fall, and the soft ground rolled across her back until her feet planted and she straightened, looking around cautiously. They had gotten pretty close to a clearing... the pilot had at least done a good job there. The trees on the outskirts were thin but tall, and apparently quite sturdy to have stopped their descent. A few of the trunks were wrapped with leafy vines, and judging by the brilliant colors everywhere - water was plentiful somewhere. She scanned the area carefully, making a mental note of the one type of tree that triggered a warning. Other than that... they should be safe enough here to do what they came to do. "Coast is clear," she called back up into the runabout through the open hatch. "Plenty of space on solid ground for those who need medical attention." She'd feel more comfortable once everyone was out of the runabout. The way the vessel was hanging precariously was even more unsettling from the outside. [Runabout - Roundabout] As the sound and smell of vomit permeated within the immediate vicinity and mixed with the smoke that continued to billow despite efforts to put out the fires. Thea didn't feel nauseated herself, in fact vomit was just one the smells she was accustomed to thanks to her medical background. If she had been a fresh faced Cadet, that might of been different but luckily this wasn't the Academy. However the XO had to keep focused and keep her own terror at bay, knowing that she had to be an example for her officers. Despite her internal mantra that they were going to make it and her unwavering faith in Aravis, doing just that. It didn't stop her heart from wrenching as Isaiah's fingers barely touched her hand before he was thrown forward. She knew instinctively that he was out cold and there was nothing she could do right now. Willing herself to remain positive, Thea gritted her teeth as their descent seemed to go on for eternity as if everything was in slow motion. She knew that it wasn't as the restraints held her in place, the inertia practically pinning her back. Unsure if her mind was playing tricks on her or not as Carlisle suddenly appeared from nowhere. Although questions would have to be asked later as the runabout finally came to a halt after a very bumpy ride. Ignoring her own pain and checking herself for bruises, Thea heard Aravis ask if everyone was okay before the flight officer crumpled to the deck after losing the contents of her stomach. Then it was a relief to see Jovireh spring into action as the newly promoted PO spoke to Carlisle and Aune before managing to open the hatch to check their position. " Carlisle is that you?" she asked as she fumbled with the restraints. Freeing herself after a few fraught seconds as Jovireh called back with what she had found. " Acknowledged Petty Officer" Thea called back, keeping her voice at the same level as she spoke to everyone who could hear her. " Let's get everyone out, starting with the injured, then we grab as much equipment and supplies as we possibly can".Judging by the way they had landed and with the natural light shining in, that they would need to hurry, then once they were out, they could plan their next move. |Runabout Roundabout || lt. Cmdr. Sven Aune |The landing was hard, but the resulting jolt wasn’t as hard as the jolt of seeing a new face suddenly cartwheel past them. “What the?” he started to question, but his question was answered by the XO. Apparently this person's name was Carlisle. How she got on board was a problem, and one that would have to be addressed. But it was low on the priority list. The next problem was dealing with petty officer Velal. Ordering commanding officers about wasn’t typically how things should be handled, and more so in dire situations such as this. He decided to offer her some grace. Adrenaline was high and lives were at stake. He would talk to her at a later time about it. But the biggest problem was the knocked out Isaiah Quinn, and the pilot. They would have to get them out of the ship. Sven climbed to the front and made eye contact with the XO. “Are you okay?” he asked. “I can get Quinn out.” he said, hoisting the man upon his shoulders in a fireman’s hold. “Duff, see if you can work with someone to get Aravis out. We don’t know the status of the warp core and the last thing we want is to be around that if it breaches.”Sven walked to the exit, and hopped out. He caught on the loose gravel and slid down a bit managing to keep his balance. He placed Isaiah against a tree. “Petty officer, thanks for securing the perimeter. Keep an eye on the injured.”
|Runabout Roundabout || Crewman Alice Duff. |
Alice smelled terrible, and her tunic was hot and sticky. She couldn’t stand it a moment longer and pulled it off. Sven had issued her an order. Take care of Aravis. She nodded, “I could use a hand here.” she asked looking for some help. [Lt. Commander Isaiah Quinn - Planet's Surface] [...] A groan escaped his lips as he turned slightly, trying to stand by using the tree to support his weight. "Casualties?" he called out to Aune, and soon realized that Jovireh was near as well. He then began to search for signs of the others, Thea in particular. The one mental note he made, and hoped he wouldn't forget, was to buy Aravis a round for managing a crash he could walk away from... though likely not in a straight line.

Tag Sven Aune Carlisle soft tags everyone [PO2 Jovireh Velal - Unknown Planet - Jungle Clearing]After calling out the safety of the clearing, Jovireh had stepped away from the hatch to make room for the others to jump down, but remained close in case anyone needed assistance. Sven jumping down carrying Isaiah was an impressive sight, and as he set the unconscious man down before addressing her she nodded briskly at the order. "Aye, sir." The Petty Officer replied, stepping away from the runabout towards Quinn, whom seemed to be coming to on his own. When he spoke to the other Lt. Commander first, asking for casualties, she paused just briefly. Had there been casualties? She knew several had been wounded... But being the first to the ground hadn't given her a chance to check on everyone. "You hit your head pretty hard, sir," she told him gently instead. "You really shouldn't be standing until one of the doctors has the chance to take a look at you."Speaking of doctors... Thea's voice called from the open hatch, requesting assistance with the wounded. Turning away from Isaiah, she walked back over to the suspended vessel. "If you can dangle her legs out, I can take her from here," Jovireh called up to them. It would be an awkward catch, but it was safer than any alternative she could think of.

{Quoted Posts} [ MCPO Ozu Saya - USS Mac - Bridge] Saya spun in alarm as first Lt. Niles, then the crewman at the engineering station reported on the runabout's status. She knew she should have made Commander Baker stay on the ship. Still, she couldn't help trying to hail the away team. :comm: ' Mac to Runa- Roundabout,' :comm: she demanded, stumbling over the name in her haste. There was a long, pregnant pause as she waited for a reply. Nothing. ' Lt. Niles, do the best you can to triangulate their position and launch a class-3 probe along the runabout's trajectory. If it survives, set it for a low geosynchronous orbit so that we can use it as a booster for our sensors.
'Crewman Mora, keep working on the transporters. Send me what you have so far; I'll help you work on it.
'We have no time to waste. Our people could be badly injured. Pull every resource from every department to figure out a way to punch through that interference.' Isaiah Quinn [USS Mac - Bridge] While some would think a starship, with 'only' 24 decks and 800ish crew members, might be an easier tasking to go through rather than an entire starbase, Derek adamantly disagreed with that assessment. For one, a starbase didn't have to go boldly explore new worlds or seek out new civilizations. Still, he figured it would have to be easier after all that paperwork from the Galaxyvision debacle, and since Mac was in-demand as the only starship dedicated to Front Ear's neverending list of missions, Derek went along for the ride. It certainly was a bit different, having an office instead of running a sickbay or having a front row seat to the best view onboard, but he didn't mind. It was nice to have the thrum of a moving deck beneath his feet again. From personal experience in the past, having an extra hand underfoot during a busy evolution was rarely appreciated, so Derek gave the bridge a wide berth until after the away team was scheduled to land on the planet around which they'd been orbiting. To his surprise, a hive of activity greeted him when he came out of the turbolifts. Judging from the worried faces and hasty movements, something had gone terribly awry. Intuitively taking several steps as old habits propelled him towards the helm, Derek quickly collected himself and retreated to a nearby bulkhead, frustratingly aware that he didn't have a role there besides staying out of the way. [ LT Joshua Niles - Bridge, USS Mac ] "On it."The response to the order to launch a probe wasn't nearly part of the official protocol, but frankly he'd never had to deal with an acting commanding officer whom he technically outranked (not that pointing that out would be a wise course of action!) and at this time, formality could definitely take a back seat. His fingers, those of flesh and bone and polymer and metal, danced on his board and a single Class 3 probe came screaming out of a torpedo tube along the recorded flight path of the Runabout. However, given the mess of interference with his sensors, he doubted he would be able to keep a stable telemetry link with the probe, let alone be able to set up a solid sensor relay just yet. At least, not without more information to go on at first. However, while the probe was in flight, he had already begun trying to work out a likely crash radius, and even without being told he brought up what he'd come up with thus far on the main viewscreen; sometimes, it was easier to show than to tell, and given the ship was in orbit and there was absolutely nothing anywhere near them, using the literally wall-sized screen as a glorified windshield rather than as a high-resolution, large-surface display to further situational awareness was a massive waste of resources. "I already have a likely search area, but given the sensor conditions and Roundabout's erratic flight path, the search area is a lot larger than it would normally be. In the meantime, recommend we get every hard sciences types we have left on board look at those interference patters, see if they can find a way to filter them out or disrupt them in a way to make them predictable."With his report to the Master Chief given, he turned to the Engineering crewman who was on the Bridge with them. "Crewman, not that I don't trust you but I want you to pull the maintenance logs on that runabout and the report from the flight safety officer of the watch. We need to know exactly what was going on with each of its systems when it went in. Anything that can affect its flight path, and let's feed that to the people going over sensor readings, lets try and narrow things down even more if we can."Now, crash investigations were certainly not part of one Joshua Niles' skillset. However, like so many things, it could be broken down into a form of tactical problem, and those he certainly excelled at. [NPC - Crewman Ezra Mora - USS Mac ] "You got it, boss," Ezra said as he returned his attention to his station. He began to look at the readings that he had once more. He proceeded to run yet another diagnostic from his station, and sent the on-duty transporter chief a message to do the same, hopefully to confirm the readings he was receiving, so that they could rule out any issues with the transporters. To be perfectly honest, Ezra was pretty confident that whatever was happening had nothing to do with the transporters or any of their equipment. It was that planet, or at least something in its atmosphere. "Diagnostics are saying the transporters are coming up clean," Ezra reported. "The chief on duty is willing to take it apart if you want him to." Though, the unspoken counter was if the transporters were needed in the event of an emergency. Not to mention resources could be delegated elsewhere. Ezra turned his attention once again to the readouts of the sensor data on the planet, including the information that Lt. Niles was compiling now. In fact, the man himself asked Ezra for the maintenance logs and official report from the flight safety officer on duty. The lieutenant led with 'not that I don't trust you...', which as far as Ezra was concerned, meant he didn't. And why should he? Ezra was new here and definitely didn't work in his department. "Yes, sir." It took only a few moments, but Ezra sent the items that had been requested to Lt. Niles' station. "Just sent your way, Lieutenant," Ezra stated. "As you can see, full routine maintenance and replacement was done on the Roundabout before leaving the station, not to mention a test flight with a scheduled stress test. The latest walkthrough was hours before the flight, and she was all green." Ezra skimmed through the reports he had found and moved to the last one. "All surveillance shows that systems were within nominal parameters from departure up until close proximity of the planet's atmosphere."Ezra's eyes noticed the blue-collar that was trying really hard not to be in the way, but seemed to be finding trouble doing just that. Ezra continued to review the scans of the planet for any hint of a theory, but at the same time was listening for his superiors and any orders they wanted him to pursue.

|Runabout Roundabout || Crewman Alice Duff |"Yes Ma'am." Alice positioned herself in order to help move Aravis. She had gotten to the hatch when Jovireh arrived. The other security officer offered to pull the pilot out by the ankles, but Alice didn't think this was a good idea. She addressed the XO. "Ma'am, I have an idea. If you want to pop out I can sit Aravis upright and tip him forward where the two of you can catch her torso and ease her out. That was we don't scrap her back along the lip of the hatch, and then I can pop back in and retrieve the survival kit and toss it out?"|Planetside || lt. cmdr. Sven Aune |Sven watched Jovireh bound back up the hill. She was eager and willing to help. Good traits. He tapped his combadge and it returned the error beep. He squatted next to Quinn. "You feeling okay?" he asked. "I'm not much of a scientist but you said a lot of things during the crash landing. I do have a bit of an engineering background. Whatever caused us to crash is preventing us from communicating from the ship. I wonder if there is a way to boost our signal?" he asked, looking up at the sky. Intuitively taking several steps as old habits propelled him towards the helm, Derek quickly collected himself and retreated to a nearby bulkhead, frustratingly aware that he didn't have a role there besides staying out of the way. [NPC - Crewman Ezra Mora - USS Mac ] Not knowing was something that had always annoyed Ezra. Perhaps that was what had led him to become an engineer. He enjoyed getting to the root of a problem, figuring out how it worked, and solving the damned thing. This issue with the transporters, however, was really starting to piss him off. Initially, sensors were able to penetrate the atmosphere, allowing them to see whatever they needed to. Yet, trying to transport matter was a different issue. Now, there seemed to be some sort of atmospheric interference that was keeping that from happening. Hence, the away team had needed to take a runabout down to the planet. That wasn't a major problem in itself, however, if the away team needed to be recollected in the event of an emergency, then it was a helluva problem. He continued to look at the readings, picking it apart, but thus far, he couldn't see a way around that obstacle. It didn't help that he was a tad distracted. This was his first mission away from the station, and Ezra had left his daughter there alone. Now, she was a teenager, but a responsible one was debatable. Still, she had a civics project that she was working on, and the station was the best place for her to finish it. Besides, he had to start trusting her at some point. Maybe, this was her opportunity to show a little maturity. "Dammit," he muttered as he began his analysis again. The problem wasn't with the transporter at all. Whatever was happening, it was happening somewhere between the exosphere and the mesosphere of the planet. The only question, was to figure out exactly what that was. Unfortunately, it wasn't jumping out like a Ferengi with a neon sign that read: NOW OPEN. Of course, Ezra had spoken too soon. Lieutenant Niles spoke up, mentioning that the flight pattern of the Roundabout had chanaged. Essentially, they were going down. He looked at the readings from his Engineering station and found that he was just as blind as Niles was. All of a sudden, solving the problem with the transporters was even more important. His eyes turned towards his boss, Chief Ozu. "Pre-flight confirms the runabout was all green prior to departure. Whatever happened, happened when it hit the planet's atmosphere." Ezra was sure that orders were coming. He just wanted to be ready to help find a solution, because sending another craft after the Roundabout didn't look to be an option.

[Runabout Roundabout] Jonathan remained quiet in the back of the shuttle. The mission that he was assigned was to help explore this planet containing biological properties that might be useful for the Federation. As part of his medical training, he would be able to scan and figure out, if possible, food supplies might be useful or dangerous to individuals of different species. Even though the mission was simple and straightforward, Dr. Hunt felt a little down. He had trained years to be a surgeon, and even though he was still a physician, his skills felt a little basic. However, it was something that a Medical Doctor had to do, and he understood that he was being eased into the service. The journey was going well until the pilot informed the crew that the shuttle was going down. The doctor heard the instruction for bracing for impact and felt the sudden motion of the shuttle. It reminded him of the G gravity training that he used to do in Starfleet Academy. Hunt, instead of reacting, made sure that everything in his area was relatively clear and made sure he was bracing for impact. The doctor heard that they were losing control, and the systems were black. He braced his arms as all of a sudden he felt the impact, and everything went dark. *** Hunt woke up seeing the viewscreen damaged and the vegetation around them. He could feel and inhale some of the smoke from the damage of the crash. Jonathan was not sure how long he was out, but his initial self-diagnosis probably got a slight concussion. The Doctor looked around, and before he moved, he observed his surroundings. He did not see any debris or anything holding him down. As he attempted to move his body, we were able to move with only slight pain. He took out the safety equipment and slowly got up. He felt a little dizzy for a second. He observed his body and observed that he was bleeding somewhere on his side area. He looked to his right side and observed blood. The doctor concluded that he probably suffered a laceration. The doctor took off his black overcoat uniform and observed his blue undershirt, and it was torn on the side. As he observed the laceration, he figured that it was not that bad and that he would be physically and mentally capable of rendering aid. He began walking as he began taking out the Medical Kit and Medical Tricorder. It would be simple to assume that someone was probably hurt from the crash. The doctor began to move as he observed some of the people were being helped out. He coughed a couple of times as he observed the smoke and observed a perfectly dressed redhead human female. He did not remember her boarding the runabout, but he was not surprised that his memory might be affected; after all, memory effects are symptoms of a concussion which he believed he might have gotten one. He felt strong as he moved the shuttle. He remembered his training as the first step is to remove themselves and stabilize the structural integrity of the shuttle. The last thing they need is for people to get trapped before the shuttle collapsed on itself. The Doctor fling the Medical Kit across his blue undershirt. He approached the Redhead woman and said, “ Ma’am, the smoke is not good for you. Let's leave the shuttle so I can give you some oxygen before staying here for a while. We should also leave and scan the structural integrity of the shuttle before we stay here. Don’t want anything collapsing on us and trapping us.” Tag Carlisle

[USS Mac - Bridge] While some would think a starship, with 'only' 24 decks and 800ish crew members, might be an easier tasking to go through rather than an entire starbase, Derek adamantly disagreed with that assessment. [ LT Joshua Niles - Bridge, USS Mac ]
"On it."The response to the order to launch a probe wasn't nearly part of the official protocol, but frankly he'd never had to deal with an acting commanding officer whom he technically outranked (not that pointing that out would be a wise course of action!) and at this time, formality could definitely take a back seat. As expected, it was only a matter of time before an order was sent his way. "Aye, Chief," he replied, having already begun the scans of the atmosphere. Being as thorough as necessary was taking some time though. Focusing on the coordinates where the runabout went awry, he started at the edge of the atmosphere and set the scans to sink down a thousand kilometers at a time. His gaze focused on the read outs as they came across his panel, searching carefully for any anomalies that might have been missed.

{Quoted Posts} [Runabout Roundabout] It’d be a lie to say Carlisle wasn’t at least a little internally panicked as the security officer noticed her and pointed her out to the much larger security officer. Her chest felt tight at the thought of just how much trouble she could be in. Or she imagined it did. Luckily, they were both too preoccupied with the current crisis to deal with her. One man’s disaster was another’s miracle, she supposed as she watched them go about their duties. Her eyes met Thea’s across the smoky interior of the runabout, and all she could think in her mind was SAVED! ”Ah, yes! It’s me. In the flesh, so to speak.” The last bit was slightly muffled, muttered under her breath. As Carlisle hurried over, she slipped in a puddle of...something and slid, coming to a precarious stop near the doctor. Commander even, she saw as she got a closer look at the woman’s pips. Hopefully a friend in a high place could keep her out of too much trouble with security. ”I’m sure you’d like to know how I got here, and honestly, I’m not entirely sure myself. But we can talk about that later. Please, tell me what I can do to assist you, Commander?” She looked around the runabout assessing the situation. It seemed the fires were, more or less, out, but the remaining smoke and fumes would be hazardous for any crew to remain onboard the runabout without it being aired out. Someone would need to assess the state of the warp core, and stabilize it, if necessary. Frustrated, she tapped the side of her head. If only she had access to all of her memory modules, she’d be just that much more useful. Particularly her advanced engineering protocols. Maybe she could interface with the system, it likely had its own troubleshooting and repair commands programmed in. ”I’m uh, actually pretty ok at engineering. I can run some systems diagnostics, and check on the warp core, while you all clear out. At least until your own crew can get back in here. All this smoke inhalation isn’t gonna be good for anyone. I’m fine though. But really, anything you want me to do, let me know.” She tapered off, worried that she’d slipped up. It might be a bit much to hope that Thea wouldn’t read too deeply into her words, but what with the stress of the crash, there was a chance. " Let's get ready to lower her down".[PO2 Jovireh Velal - Unknown Planet - Jungle Clearing]After calling out the safety of the clearing, Jovireh had stepped away from the hatch to make room for the others to jump down, but remained close in case anyone needed assistance. We should also leave and scan the structural integrity of the shuttle before we stay here. Don’t want anything collapsing on us and trapping us.” [Lt. Commander Isaiah Quinn - Jungle Clearing, Unknown Planet] As Isaiah sat there, carefully inching himself upwards, he first heard Jovireh speaking to him. Her words of caution were sound, however the science officer was under the impression that he wasn't concussed. Having been an athlete, and having had his noggin scrambled a few times on the job, it simply felt different. "You're probably right," Isaiah said. He paused, deciding to give it a few moments so that he could acclimate to his surroundings. Truth be told, he wasn't a fan of being a burden, and he'd been that at least up until now. He was sure that Thea was attempting to get everyone to safety and ascertain the situation, which probably meant the duties of seeing after the crew had fallen to Dr. Hunt. If, of course, Thea would allow herself to be regulated to the sole role of team leader. He doubted that to be the case. The sound of Sven's voice was a reminder of just that, certain that the head of security had been the one to carry him out of the runabout. When asked if he was all right, Quinn managed to look into the eyes of the larger man. "Pretty sure I'll live," Isaiah said, though subconsciously he kicked himself for uttering the phrase under present conditions. Sven went on to mention having overheard much of Isaiah had said aboard the ship. He seemed to think that it was likely interfering with communications as well, and was trying to figure out how to boost the signal. "That makes sense," Isaiah agreed. He took a deep breath, as he was finally getting his mental faculties about him once more. "Whatever interference was blocking our transporter signals also inhibits our communications." A soft groan escaped his lips. "And if it had some sort of impact on our systems aboard the Roundabout, we're going to have our work cut out for us."Isaiah attempted to stand once more, this time making it to his feet. He steadied himself against the tree again, and looked towards the runabout. It didn't look very secure, but whatever they needed to boost a signal would likely be aboard that ship. "What have you all managed to secure form the runabout?" he asked, wondering what resources had already been gathered, and hopefully something they'd be able to use to let the Mac know where they were at least.

"Thank you, Crewman," Niles replied as his console chimed to announce the arrival of the reports he had requested. Granted, he was not the best person to analyze that information, but given that he'd been the one to request the data be pulled so it may be analyzed, it made sense that it would come up to him first. And, from there, just as instructed by the Master Chief, he forwarded a copy of those pre-flight checks, maintenance logs and the flight safety officer's report to her own PADD. However, given the instructions given to Mister Black behind him, he turned his head towards the man. "Ensign, I'm forwarding the information about the runabout to Science II for you to review." As he spoke, the Tactical Officer's hands were still moving across his board to do just that, and when he returned his attention to it, it was to send requests to all personnel involved in the crash analysis in some way to forward their findings his way so they may be collated and rendered into a usable format to be displayed up on the main viewscreen. Of course, those would just be summaries rather than full analyses, but it would have to do for now. And only then did he start scrutinizing his own results. Analyzing courses and velocities was elementary for anyone who was flight trained, or was specializing in operating tactical systems; both of those required a similar grounding in mathematics and physics so a vessel, or fire from weapons capable of sterilizing planets, would go precisely where they were wanted and not slamming into something they weren't meant to. And given just how erratically the runabout had been moving, he actually designated it as a target for the tactical computers and fed every bit of telemetry and sensor data they had to the process. And that was the information he also fed to the viewscreen, but thus far the ellipsis that represented a search area far larger than anyone would care for did not shrink nor reshape itself, which was expected this early in the process of locating the runabout. And, at this point, he did have something else to report. "Probe is about to hit the atmosphere. Telemetry and readings are coming through, piping them to the screen."

Her lips quirked slightly to one side at the engineering crewman's comment about the transporter chief. As she turned to respond to him, she noticed Derek Black trying to blend into the bulkhead and immediately had an idea of how he could be of assistance. But first, ' You may tell the chief that I don't think that will be necessary, Crewman. While we shall do our due diligence to ensure that there were no mechanical or electronic failures that contributed to the runabout's crashing, I don't believe such drastic measures are called for.
'Lt. Niles, I would like you to collect all of the data and reports from the various departments. Send it to my PADD, but also continue to update the viewscreen. Someone may see something that was missed in the data.' Turning to Derek, she said, ' Mr. Black, I believe we could use your expertise. Recheck all of the pre-flight checks and protocols to see if anything was missed or ignored.
Lieutenant,' Saya said, glancing at the science station. ' I want a thorough analysis of that atmospheric interference. I believe we may have missed something there.' ---------- Tag Joshua Niles , Isaiah Quinn , Derek Black , Jovireh Velal (science) [USS Mac - Bridge] Tabernac. Derek deduced within moments of being on the bridge that the worst had happened with their runabout, and as an added complication, they weren't able to track or transport them immediately out. If they broke up on the way down, the emergency transporters may have saved some of them. Without supplies though, and likely injured, any survivors wouldn't last long. Their best chance depended on rapid rescue. But for that, Mac needed to find them first. With some experience in what was to come, Derek wanted to volunteer, but waited for Ozu to finish issuing her orders first when he saw her looking in his direction. To his mild surprise and relief, she didn't even bother asking. "Aye, Ma'am." He replied, noting her captaincy by circumstance, while turning away to one of the auxiliary stations and logging on with his credentials. "And I got it, thanks, Sir." Derek acknowledged the lieutenant next, accessing the forwarded files. Like most modern Starfleet vessels, Mac was highly automated, and from the moment Aravis, the assigned pilot, had activated Roundabout's APU, a steady stream of real-time data was automatically transmitted from the runabout's 'black box' into Mac's memory banks. The transfer datalink would, of course, not always remain stable, so normally, the shuttle's logs would be synchronized upon it's return, to replace any corrupted or missing telemetry. Through that, Derek could see when they began to lose the uplink, shortly after the runabout entered atmo. One of the other bridge crew had already mentioned earlier that the shuttle's systems were reading 'green' prior to launch, so he focused more upon what Aravis did before and during the flight itself. Another commonly automated procedure, the computer did 90% of the work, only requiring the physical pilot to doublecheck readings that showed off-nominal. In this case, she hadn't had to do anything at all, besides the usual preflight test of control surfaces. The pilot's log showed everything had been dotted and crossed before they'd even pushed back. One thing Derek did notice was that the walkaround, normally done by a pilot before boarding, had a different signature next to it's checkbox, and a timestamp several hours prior to Aravis' on the rest of the list. Not unusual for busy flightdeck operations, sometimes the cursory visual inspection was done by ground crew, especially if regular maintenance had just been completed. Still, when nothing else stood out from the records infront of him, a trivial matter was probably worth at least taking a look at. Probably grasping at straws, Derek mused, but he still looked over to the tactical officer. "Lieutenant, would you happen to have security footage of the ramp Roundabout was parked at? Say...two hours prior to skids up?"

[Runabout Roundabout - Planet's Surface] Whilst it warmed her heart to see Isaiah upright and talking, they weren't out of this just yet as Jovireh answered her call for help. " Thank you, standby Petty Officer" Thea replied gratefully as her attention was drew back to those who remained in the runabout. Listening as Crewman Duff offered up a solution as to how they could safely lower Aravis out of the ship to Jovireh without causing any further injuries. Thea was definitely a fan of not making things worse and judging the distance between the hatch and Jovireh below, was also reassuring. If the drop had been any longer, that might of complicated things but luck was definitely on their side. " Good thinking Crewman, we'll go with your idea and once Aravis is safely down, I'd also like you to grab as many tricorders as you can".As Thea then prepared to leave through the hatch to put the plan into action. Dr Hunt caught her attention as he approached and spoke to Carlisle. The XO understood why he was talking to her but would leave that decision to the redhead as she had already accepted her offer to help and yet wasn't going to put her in danger either. For the moment Thea concentrated on what she had to do as she looked down at Jovireh. " I'm coming down then Crewman Duff, will lower Aravis so we can both catch her" she instructed as she then exited the runabout. Although being cautious didn't prevent Thea from landing a little more roughly than she had anticipated. Hoping it was just a sprain as her right ankle began to throb. The Commander tried to ignore the pain as she got into position next to Jovireh.

[PO2 Jovireh Velal - Unknown Planet - Jungle Clearing]She couldn't hear everything that was being said above her in the runabout, but when Thea informed her that she was going to help with the catch, that instantly sounded like a bad idea. The hybrid opened her mouth to remind her that she was physically stronger than her and Duff combined, but before she could make a sound the doctor was already dropping out of the hatch. This was going to be interesting. The doctor seemed to stumble slightly on the landing, and Jovireh gave her a concerned glance. The other woman straightened and readied herself without a word, however, so the Petty Officer did the same. "Ready when you are!" she called up to the Crewman.
Meanwhile, something deep within the jungle began to stir, roused from its slumber as an unfamiliar pressure landed on one of its feelers. Intruders...

[Lt.

Alice nodded. "Aye aye ma'am." She was unaware that the XO sprained an ankle. She held Aravis about the waist and began to tip his forward until the other two could reach up and safely grab him. Once she did, here bushy hair disappeared back into the ship. She spied Doctor Hunt and the mysterious Carlisle who appeared out of thin air. "Not to tell you what to do doctor, but you really should clear the crash site. Who knows what kind of toxic gases as spewing. And same to you ma'am... Wait! I'm getting the survival gear. Can you two lend a hand?" she asked as she pried open a panel, pulling out two large bins. and sliding them towards the duo. She then retrieved a number of tricorders, medical, scientific, engineering and tactical along with a anything she could get her hands on in the weapons locker and tossed them into an empty container and slid that to the hatch. She hopped out, turned, jumped up and nabbed the bin. "Can you two hand me the other?" she asked Hunt and Carlisle. Tag Thea BakerJovireh VelalJonathan HuntCarlisle

Lieutenant,' Saya said, glancing at the science station. ' I want a thorough analysis of that atmospheric interference. I believe we may have missed something there.' [Lt. JG Cerjess Miren - USS Mac - Bridge]Things were going well, and Cerjess was looking forward to getting to play with the samples Lt. Commander Quinn brought back from the surface. It wasn't every day a scientists got to study plant life from a previously untouched world. As suddenly as anything could go wrong, there was the announcement that the runabout had veered off it's course, and the bridge erupted into organized chaos. [ LT Joshua Niles - Bridge, USS Mac ]
[...] "Probe is about to hit the atmosphere. Telemetry and readings are coming through, piping them to the screen." [USS Mac - Bridge] [...] One thing Derek did notice was that the walkaround, normally done by a pilot before boarding, had a different signature next to it's checkbox, and a timestamp several hours prior to Aravis' on the rest of the list. The science officer nodded, but continued to listen. It seemed that everything was in order. Secure the people first, make certain they were out of danger, and then proceed to procure survival provisions. Isaiah's eyes attempted to appraise the status of the ship. He took a deep breath, certain that Lt. Aravis would be able to make a better appraisal, but he didn't really like their chances. His eyes fell upon Thea exiting the ship to stand beside Jovireh as they began to ease the unconscious pilot from the hatch. As Sven mentioned the atmosphere, Isaiah nodded. "If I had to guess, I would assume you're correct," Isaiah said. "I'm pretty sure that there's something about the atmosphere that did incapacitate the ship. However, I'm not entirely convinced its toxic. With all the plant life surrounding us, I would assume that it's not, but our tricorders will confirm that much at least." Isaiah's mind was already in problem solving mode, and he had the need to acquire more data. [NPC - Crewman Ezra Mora - Bridge, USS Mac ] "You got it, boss," Ezra said, acknowledging Saya's orders. He communicated to the transporter chief via a brief message that a Level 2 diagnostic wouldn't be necessary, but instructed to continue running simulations. His attention returned to the scans that had been made. A probe had been launched and hopefully data acquired from it would give them a better idea of how to proceed. For now, it was a matter of combing through all the information they had before them and determining if there was a mistake in protocol, or something with the planet that had been overlooked. Naturally, hindsight was 20/20. At least, Ezra was hoping that would be the case here. Another chime at his station indicated that the transporter chief had run another test. Ezra looked over the results as well as the complete transporter logs. He attempted to sync of the time index with the latent sensor readings of the same time. Something had certainly caught his eye, but he thought it best to run it up the chain before taking it to the Chief. Ezra turned and walked over towards the science officer on duty. He hoped this guy wasn't a botanist. Surely the blues didn't let just anyone work on the bridge. "Lieutenant? I was wondering if I could run something by you?" Ezra then offered the Trill the padd he'd brought along with him.

[ MCPO Ozu Saya - USS Mac - Bridge] The probe began relaying telemetry, showing the same unidentifiable interference that they could read with the ship's sensors. And then the probe disappeared. The section of the screen that had been showing the probe's data went blank, drawing Saya's gaze. ' Lt. Niles,' she said sharply. ' What happened to the probe?' She supposed it made sense that the probe wouldn't make it through any better than the runabout had. ---------- Tag Joshua Niles, softies to Isaiah Quinn, Syl O'Connell and Derek Black
