[ LT Joshua Niles - Park, Front Ear Station ]With his arrival being, well, low-key, Josh was entirely happy being simply acknowledged as being present; he'd not planned to attend, but a long watch and a growling stomach had been the truly deciding factors in the process. And then, the redhead Bajoran, who appeared to be the host, addressed him directly, pointing out his uniform. "Niles. Joshua Niles, and no I didn't get dressed for this, I just happened to be coming off watch." he answered with an incline of his head. "To whom do I have the pleasure?"However, before his question was answered, she asked another, regarding the invitation he had received. So it had been a random thing? Interesting all right. "Truth be told, I pretty much decided about ten minutes ago when I came off watch, and realized that I was, well, hungry and didn't feel like eating alone in my quarters."

[ Destiny Santiago-Reyes - Park] Desty put another piece of tarts in her mouth and then leaned back. Then she turned to Uncle's questions and answers. " Well, then I feel even more honered to have been chosen, " she replied to the comment about randomly choosing guests, grinning a little before turning to the second question. What had prompted her to accept the invitation? She waited a moment for the new guest to speak before explaining why she was here. " Well, I had the time. And besides, it sounded exciting. I thought I had nothing to lose and maybe I would make some nice acqaintance. So I came," she explained, taking another piece fo tarts. These things were just too good. After she finished chewing, she was already twirling another piece in front of her mouth, but turned briefly to Niles. " You said you came from a watch. So you work in security?"

[Park - Front Ear] Now that she was seated comfortably, Leanna was happy to listen to the burgeoning conversations happening around her as she began to eat. The food was delicious, even the dishes that wasn't overly familiar to her. Pausing to take a drink as Uncle answered Max's question, before some of the others responded to the Bajoran's question about why they had accepted her invitation. It was fascinating to hear and sense the happy emotions from Uncle as Lea herself knew what it was like to be new. As Desty engaged Niles in conversation. Leanna looked towards Uncle as she spoke up. " I always enjoy meeting new people and it was my partner Riyo who encouraged me to attend. He would of been here but he's taken the children on a trip to the holodeck".That thought made her smile and of course she expected questions but as far as she was concerned, they were his children now.

[Capt. Judith Eastman-Williams, PhD & Max Williams - Park]Max took a seat, and Judy sat down herself, beside him. "Judy got the invite," he answered Uncle's question. "She's always been a social butterfly, so it was a pretty easy decision for us to accept.""Max is more of an introvert, but he's very easy to convince," Judy added. Most of those who had interacted with the couple could recognize this dynamic, in which Max happily let Judy take the lead in social situations.

[ Uncle - Park, Front Ear Station ] Uncle had to admit, she was intrigued with the simplicity of Josh's answer. A simple matter of convenience in seeking out company. And straight away from duty at that. "Well, my friends call me Uncle," she said introducing herself to him. "In that respect, I think I had some responsibility for your being present... the other clearly your stomach, to whom I'm much obliged." She took another sip from her glass as she listened to the others. Desty made a point of saying that it sounded excited, and at the very least she'd have the opportunity to meet someone knew. Uncle smiled at the response of the pink-haired counselor. "An answer after my own heart," Uncle said. "You never know who you'll meet until you meet them. And that never happens as long as one keeps to themselves."Leanna was the next to go, and Uncle made note of not only the mention of children, but also the name Riyo. It stood out to Uncle mainly because the name sounded Bajoran. Of course, it was always difficult to tell given the vast number of cultures that pass through the Federation. "Well, I do hope that I'll have the opportunity to meet this Riyo, and your children," Uncle remarked. "There's nothing as precious as family." A sentiment that Uncle believed, even if not always practiced. Max finally spoke up, saying that it was Judy that had gotten the invite. Uncle smiled at it, landing an invitation right at the top. With that sort of luck, perhaps she should visit that casino she passed by on the way to the park. "Well, I'm certainly fortunate enough to have met each of you. I know that you each have your day jobs, but what do you do for recreation around here? Is there any preferred or popular way to spend one's free time?"

[Park, Front Ear]
Ic felt like the little plastic brush in a children’s doll playset. A cute addition, but ultimately useless amid all the inevitable tangles. Not that there were any (yet— the day was still fresh) but he was also flimsy and probably a bit transparent. Awkward. Especially after a man in uniform joined them shortly after, a lieutenant, according to the pips. He just wasn’t sure which of them was more odd now, the brush or the weapon prop. At the very least, it was a nice-looking weapon, anyway.
He claimed a small plate of food, half his own offering and half krei’la (and half gratitude that no one was probably going to tease him about any gong), and took a seat beside the woman who invited him to do so. He didn’t think she’d taken to him too easily to start with, but if she was welcoming him to join her, he would do so. Ic had never been one to refuse even the vaguest of friendly gestures— historically, even when they were made between a veil of menace, as long as it had been with a smile. Hope was always his downfall, and always it would be. Trust would be what added insult to injury.
Anyway, her hair was really pretty. He imagined love would feel this color. At first, anyway; it was already the shade of a hopeless, clinging crush. (Ic Arbrell knew this so well he could compose the entire palette with eyes closed.)
The captain’s easy welcome made it a little easier to settle into place, even if he wasn’t entirely sure how he was supposed to behave around her off duty. At least she seemed to understand that her newest crew member wasn’t exactly built for life lived simply.
Ic was shy to answer Uncle’s question, doubly so now that he understood the invitation was random. No, not random— fateful. If he was the brush then he was the brush because that’s what the playset called for; as well as he understood the nature of random selection, he also knew there was no such thing as chance in this universe, where anything mattered. Of course, it all did. He was shy to answer her question because it mattered, too, how silly he looked thinking she was someone else, or how insulting it might have been to her to admit. Her followup, however, was easy.
“Holosuites,” he said, perhaps a little too honestly. “Not just for myself, I’ve been working on some features for others’ programs, too, so if you— any of you— ever want something made…” The invitation was open now, and so was the floor for anyone else to chime in. He got the feeling that a detailed account of his training in it at the Academy or his mother's former occupation as a holonovelist was probably best left out.

[Destiny Santiago-Reyes - Park]
Desty watched with a smile as Ic sat down. This Betazoid radiated something she couldn't place. Her eyes stayed on him a little longer, examining him thoroughly, before she turned back in Joshua's direction. (Was it actually okay for everyone here to be addressed by their first names? This was an off-duty gathering here, so yes, right?). "Why don't you sit down too?"
Then she turned her gaze to the other woman, with whom she hadn't really engaged much. Probably because she got directly involved in a conversation with the captain and her husband. She is a Betazoid too. 'Oooh, I'll have to remember not to think anything naughty,' Desty thought to herself, grinning broadly. Telepaths were quite cute.
" My way of thinking," she chortled, agreeing wholeheartedly with what Uncle was saying. Socializing was not only a valued strategy of the Counselor, however, her half Risian side also demanded some buzz in the acquaintance circle. Slowly she bent forward again, saving her food from being orphaned. The food was really delicious, and it would certainly be a shame if it wasn't eaten, though Desty certainly wasn't the only one who liked the tarts. After she finished chewing the one piece, she began to answer Ic. "Holosuites sound interesting. If I ever need anything in the field of holoprogramming, I know where to go," she said, giving the Betazoid another wink. Then she turned back to the whole table and beamed. She was clearly in a good mood. "I like to read detective novels, am interested in botany, and dance occasionally. Well, I try to dance, at least," she said, a little embarrassed, though she didn't really care what others thought about her. Grinning, she kept her gaze on the other people for a few seconds, noticing that she hadn't introduced herself yet. "My name is Destiny Santiago-Reyes, by the way, but please, call me Desty," she said, omitting her job as well as rank. She wasn't sitting here in uniform, after all.
Finally, she crossed her legs before folding her hands in her lap. "What about you, Uncle? I guess you're not just on Front Ear to treat those present to a wonderful brunch?"

[ Uncle - Park, Front Ear Station ] Uncle listened to those that shared what they did in their free time. Among the first to respond was Ic, who it seemed enjoyed holosuites. Though, he made a point of saying that it wasn't simply to enjoy programs, but to construct them as well. It was quite a contemporary hobby. A fictional world that one could immerse themselves in... literally. "Well, that's quite impressive," Uncle commented. She had always preferred exploring the real thing, though perhaps holosuites needed to be something she looked into. After all, how feasible would it be to travel to every corner of the cosmos at this point? Especially, when one could bring so much of it, as well as different areas to oneself with the mere press of a button? Desty was the next to speak. It seemed that her pastimes seemed a bit more conventional. She couldn't blame her for enjoying a good mystery novel, there was also a mention of botany and dancing as well. Uncle chuckled as she amended the statement saying that she attempted to to dance rather than actually doing so. "Sounds as if you're just being modest for our sakes," Uncle commented. "I've no doubt you dance divinely."As the question was then turned upon herself, or at least what she was doing here, Uncle took a deep breath. "Well, I have to admit, hosting brunches are not my forte," Uncle commented. "I can't begin to thank the profits enough that this didn't turn out to be a complete disaster. Though, once I get settled, I'd like to see as much of Kerelia as I can. Explore a bit. Quench the thirst of the novice scientist in myself.""Though, I suppose it makes sense to get acquainted here first," she said. "Establish a bit of a routine... maybe even find steady work around here." She wouldn't boast that she had many skills that were marketable on a station such as this. Though, she was confident that she could find something.

[ LT Joshua Niles - Park, Front Ear Station ]Uncle. Well that certainly was an unusual name all right. But then again, one had to admit the Front Ear wasn't exactly a run off the mill starbase either. If one Joshua Niles had to bet, it was a place that had attracted a larger proportion of oddballs than most other similar facilities. "A pleasure... Uncle." Truth be told, that, did roll of the tongue rather oddly all right. However, that confusion did not last long when the woman with the violently pink hair invited him to sit with them. "Thank you," he answered honestly before seeking out a chair. He had spent most of the watch on his feet, and despite advances in footwear and insoles technology, his dogs were most certainly barking. And, as he seated himself, he caught the woman's name. Desty Santiago-Reyes. And while she was introducing herself by name and was in civilian attire, the quick darts to his and the Ensign's collars were unmistakably Starfleet. But, he wasn't about to pursue that. Not now. "I never really got into detective novels. But I keep hearing the Dixon Hill holonovels are pretty good. Maybe I'll try them some day," he said. Lately, though, he'd not spent much recreation time on the holodecks. Despite his best efforts to keep his workload manageable, paperwork had a way of piling up and he did not have an administrative assistant... Though, as far as Uncle and Kerelia went, Niles had heard of something lately... "Well, I've heard one of the station's residents, Sir Doug, runs semi-regular tours dirtside. Not my idea of fun, but you might find those interesting."
