[ Uncle - Park, Front Ear Station ] Uncle examined the tables, and was confident that she had actually brought enough food. The only question was whether anyone would actually show up. It was certainly a bit unorthodox to ring random strangers and invite them to brunch. Yet, it would certainly give her a little insight on the type of community she was in. At least temporarily. Uncle actually had her sights set elsewhere for a permanent residence, but it was nice to get to know the neighbors. Perhaps that was a practice that had been lost over the years, though some traditions needed to be preserved. She stared around the table. There were flapjacks and plenty of maple syrup of course. There was no need to call something a brunch if there wasn't something sweet on the table. Hasperat, which was some of the best she'd had in years... possibly around the last time she'd been on Bajor. Krei'la[fn]Vulcan scones[/fn] which was actually quite palatable, especially with an orange marmalade. hard-boiled Taspar[fn] Cardassian delicacy[/fn] had never been her favorite, but was an excellent source of protein. Uncle scooted the Osol twists[fn]Romulan tarts[/fn] towards the edge of the table as they seemed a bit stale to the taste in her opinion. And then there was the blended mimosas. Uncle had decided to use her own measurements on that particular treat, but there were other beverages as well. Water, of course, sweet tea (something she had found herself spoiled by when introduced to it by a human), and deka tea. There was also a variety of finger sandwiches available to choose from. And whatever wasn't eaten, Uncle planned to donate to the colony workers. Sans the mimosas of course. No one wanted any sort of accidents. Guests were welcome to bring a dish, but it certainly wasn't necessary. The only thing Uncle was looking forward to was getting to know the people. First impressions were everything. At least that was what Terrans seemed to value. So, why not come bearing gifts? Uncle briefly wondered if despite the myth, most Terrans still viewed random gifts from strangers as their Trojans once did, with pure innocence? If not, that Homer fellow had easily ruined a good thing for an entire civilization. Of course, having been born during the Occupation, Uncle could certainly understand. Of course, they all had to be the least bit curious about an invitation signed: Uncle.

[Destiny Santiago-Reyes - Quarter -> Park, Front Ear Station] Destiny was in a particularly good mood today. She got up early - which made for a really good day - and had been looking at the stars while puzzling over what today would bring. She was definitely planning to go to the brunch that was announced by invitation, and something inside her told her that she didn't want to miss it. To her taste, there was too little celebration on this space station anyway, and surely one should take every opportunity to get to know other people. Or it was just her curiosity. She straightened up and hurried towards the bathroom to get ready. Her hair was tied up in a high braid before she traced the lines around her eyes with a pink eyeliner. The pink shimmer gave a contrast to the crystal clear blue eyes. After the makeup was in place, Dessy looked at her entire outfit. She didn't think it was necessary to show up at a brunch in uniform, so she wore civilian clothes.
The part-Risan thought for a moment about what she could take with her. At Risa, it was taken for granted to bring a present no matter where you were invited. She thought for a moment about what she could bring, and then hurried to a closet. From it she took out a bottle with a yellowish liquid. "Perfect," she muttered, pondering for a moment if she had everything she needed.
Shortly thereafter, she had left her quarters and hurried toward the park on Front Ear Station. Once there, she looked around and spotted a Bajoran woman. The corners of her mouth lifted into a broad grin, and she set a direct course for the table. "You're Uncle, aren't you?".

[ Uncle - Park, Front Ear Station ] Uncle had been so wrapped up in preparing the arrival of one of her first guests had nearly gone unnoticed. She turned at the sound of the woman asking the question. She supposed that despite appearances, the answer to the woman’s question was rather obvious. Uncle greeted the pink-haired woman with a warm smile, and set aside the objects she’d been fiddling with only moments before. ”Well, it seems the people here are quite clever,” she said as she moved towards the woman. ”I am Uncle. The pleasure is certainly mine. Thank you for coming.” She paused a moment, briefly wondering the best way to greet the woman. She appeared human, but it was never fair to assume. ”Good day.”Uncle also took notice of the bottle the woman had in tow as well. Of course, she thought it best to get introductions out of the way before focusing on that. ”And exactly whose company do I have the pleasure of enjoying?” the Bajoran asked.

[Capt. Judith Eastman(-Williams), PhD & Max Williams - Park]If she were not in command, Judy would've left the invite from the cryptically-named "Uncle" in her spam folder, writing it up as a prank or a promotion. However, she had certain responsibilities to the community, and after ascertaining that "Uncle" was not, in fact, a prank, she'd decided to go to the brunch, out of respect for this unusually-named member of the community. Of course, that brought up the matter of providing food - kosher food. Judy and Max had settled on bourekas, triangular ones filled with cheese and rectangular ones with potatoes. "This should be interesting," Max said to Judy as they slowly approached. There was no need to cause too much of a stir.

[Destiny Santiago-Reyes - Park]
"I think to come to this space station and be in a part of the Beta Quadrant that is not really well explored yet, you have to be clever" " Desty replied to the comment that the people on this station were clever, and grinned a little before turning her attention to greetings. Risian, or human? She decided to return the human greeting with a human greeting and nodded. "Good day, nice to meet you and thanks for the invitation". Admittedly, that sounded a bit dry to Risian ears, but Desty had only herself to blame if she didn't wear the sign on her forehead.
"Destiny Santiago-Reyes, but please call me Desty", she introduced herself and put the bottle on the table "Risan wine"

[ Uncle - Park, Front Ear Station ] Uncle listened to the woman's initial response. It was a rather collective point of view. It seemed to give Uncle the impression that the young woman was human. They certainly enjoyed a 'we' spirit more than most cultures. Or perhaps she was Starfleet, given the way she dwelt on her talk of exploring the area. Either way, the young woman was very pleasant and made for excellent company. She was even nice enough to show gratitude for the invitation. "You're most certainly welcome, dear.""Desty it is," said Uncle with a bright smile after the woman introduced herself. She examined the bottle of Risian wine as it was presented. "Ooh, a lovely year to boot. Thank you for this. Now, please, help yourself to anything. There's plenty to go around."Uncle then looked up to see a couple arriving. She was already smiling when she looked upon the older couple, but as her eyes fell upon the gentleman, she got a sense of deja vu. "Why do I get the sense that I know you from somewhere?" she asked, already accepting the challenging of trying to figure out where. "Were you ever in Perth?" She barely allowed time for the question to linger before it came to her and her eyes widened in excitement! "I've got it! My kitchen! That's it!"Her eyes drifted to the woman accompanying him, and Uncle realized a bit more context may be warranted. "Max Williams! I'm a bit of a fan. I own a few of your books. This must be your wife, Mrs. Williams. It's an absolute pleasure to meet you both." She offered her hand to both of them, greeting the couple. She even eyed their contribution to the food. "Had I known I'd be in such esteemed company and had the opportunity to sample what I am sure is perfection, I would have better prepared myself for the experience. Please, allow me." She offered to help settle the food that they had brought. "We can set that over here. I'm sure they won't last very long at all."Uncle even tried to take time to make introductions. "I may be the only actual stranger here, but have you all met Desty?"

[Capt. Judith Eastman-Williams, PhD & Max Williams - Park]Judy and Max paused for a moment, letting the woman sort out where she recognized Max from, and, surprisingly, witnessing as she didn't recognize Judy. That was an unusual experience, and Max was here for it. "Always good to meet one of my readers, and this is indeed my radiant wife Judy," he confirmed. "The pleasure is ours," Judy agreed, relishing this moment in which she didn't carry with her the weight of her office. "We haven't, so good to meet you as well, Desty.""You know, he didn't want to put his headshot in the books. I had to insist," Judy shared an anecdote. "Too humble, this one."

[Destiny Santiago-Reyes - Park] "I was happy to bring that one" Desty replied with a grin, pulling the chair back a bit to sit on it. "Looks good" she said as she let her gaze roam over the table. Well, there really was no lack of versatility here.
She turned her gaze back to the Bajoran, who was apparently already receiving her next guests. Desty eyed the newcomers for a moment and rose from her chair in a gesture of friendliness. She successfully recognized the woman as the captain of this station, and the other as her husband, even though she had to admit to herself that she hadn't really heard anything big about him yet. "Pleased to meet you" she said, nodding once with a grin to the man before giving the captain a nod as well.

[ Uncle - Park, Front Ear Station ] Uncle was still thrown by the delightful and surprising treat of having the renowned chef and author Max Williams of all people answer her invitation. She nearly had to pinch herself remain coherent as their conversation carried on. Uncle chuckled jollily as his wife Judy stated that she had to insist that he include the headshots. "Really?" she said surprised. "I can't fathom what you'd ever have to be modest about. I can't tell you the number of dinner parties your book rescued... or rather the taste buds of my guests."As introductions were made with Desty as well Uncle motioned for them to go on and help themselves and have a seat. "Please, please... help yourselves to whatever and go ahead and start," Uncle insisted. "I'm hopeful that others are on their way. Regrettably the invites were last minute. I certainly understand prior obligations and all." She peered at all that had gathered, hardly defeated by the small number. "Though, a gift from the Prophets, no matter how large or small is still a gift in itself."Uncle took a deep breath, more than prepared to get to know her guests. She began to assemble a small plate for herself, more intrigued by her guests than the food itself. "So, Max... I do hope there's somewhere on the station that serves your marvelous handiwork. It's bound to become my favorite place rather quickly," She then glanced towards the other ladies present. "Judy, Desty... what do you ladies do here aboard the station if you don't mind me asking?" Uncle always believed in the value of a community, and knowing the parts each person within it played.

[Capt. Judith Eastman-Williams, PhD & Max Williams - Park]An introvert by nature, Max began to get flustered with all the praise heaped on him. He was unaccustomed to it, as different as it was from the usual status of Judy's plus-one, which now seemed bound to come up again. "I work at the Blue Beta bar & grill part-time. Judy is the captain, so I need to be home for her too," he explained. "That I am. I use my maiden name, Eastman, for fleet business," Judy added. "But outside of duty hours, I don't mind just being Judy Williams, Max's wife."It had been a compromise the couple forged many years ago, over the matter of Judy's last name: Eastman-Williams, one half for work and the other half for fun.

[Destiny Santiago-Reyes - Park] Destiny eased back into a chair, after at least the pleasantries had been exchanged, and considered what she should eat. It all looked delicious, but if she tried any of it, she would probably burst.
When Uncle asked what they were doing on the space station, the pink-haired woman's pupils moved toward Eastman, who introduced her activity first. Command Staff. When it appeared she was finished with her explanation, Desty took the floor. "I'm a counselor, but I haven't been on the starbase very long," she replied, reaching for the tarts.

[ Uncle - Park, Front Ear Station ] Well, the Prophets certainly had a sense of humor. They sent a chef Uncle idolizes along with his wife the Captain. Perhaps it was their grace that had bundled a counselor into the mix as well. "The Captain?" she repeated. Judy explained, and it all certainly made sense. "I see. Well, I'm even more fortunate to have you here. I've no doubt your schedule keeps you extremely busy." It was certainly fortunate indeed to have made introductions with the Captain. Uncle had no doubt she'd have to schedule an appointment to sit down with the woman at some point in the future. She smiled as Desty mentioned her duties. "Well, that's certainly something we have in common as well. I doubt I've been aboard this station a full seventy-two hours. It can easily get quite overwhelming," Uncle mused. "Out of curiosity, are your services exclusive to Starfleet personnel and their families?"

[Capt. Judith Eastman-Williams, PhD & Max Williams - Park]Max poured himself a glass of water while Judy picked out a vegetarian sandwich, both listening in the meantime. Desty - likely a nickname - was a counselor, as it turned out, and Judy slowly connected her to a personnel file she had seen. But, she reminded herself, she was now here as Max's wife, not as the almightly CO. Best not to bring that up. "We'd be more than happy to give you both some tips, if you'd like. We've lived here for over a year," Max himself said. He set his glass down, and placed his arm around Judy's waist. She, holding a sandwich in one arm, reciprocated the gesture with the other.

[Destiny Santiago-Reyes - Park] Desty had meanwhile taken a piece of the tarts, and grabbed the accompanying cutlery. She was well aware that the Captain was at the table, but as long as she wasn't in uniform...and the Counselor hadn't really officially reported for duty yet. "I help where I can. Starfleet and their families, civilians, and what else is bustling around the station" she answered making a wide gesture. "the whole program". When she was done answering that question, she shoved the next piece of tarts between her teeth. "Fire away. Tips are always appreciated," she said with a glance at Max, leaning back in her chair.

[ Uncle - Park, Front Ear Station ] Uncle turned her attention to the station's first couple. From what she'd seen thus far, she doubted that they were that stuffy to succumb to the traditional burdens of such a title, but for better or worse it was rather factually apt. They seemed inclined to offer tips to what Uncle concluded was for life here on the station. "Well, as adventurous as it is to self-discover, it's always nice to have a few helpful hints about the important things: a breakfast nook, and not the one that tourists frequent; the local shrine; and just as important, which hair stylist to tip well."Uncle also listened as Desty spoke about being available to everyone. It was certainly a comfort to hear that. "Well, that's refreshing to hear. I'll certainly make a point of reaching out to you should the need arise." Uncle took a sip from one of the mimosa flutes she'd prepared. "By the way, where exactly is 'home' for everyone?" That was always an interesting question... to see how people responded to it often told a great deal about them.
