Name: The Fate of the Protectorate
Type: Mission
Location: Ship/Planet
Synopsis: On a Routine Patrol for a Mineral Survey or something equally as boring. The ship detects a planet decloaking. The planet is full of live signs and an intelligent civilization, that at first appears to be pre warp. The Ship detects that the reason the planet is because their antimatter generators (indicating post warp technology) are failing and the energy output is not stable. Furthermore, there is radiation spreading to the population. A scan would detail that the planet core is filled with technology that is equal or more advanced than Starfleet. Under the Earth are advanced ships with post war technology. If visiting, the planet and its inhabitants live in a utopia. They have unlimited food, advanced medicine and entertainment devices that would rival those on the Holodecks. They write Shakespearian poetry about love and the meaning of life, something to marvel. The inhabitants do not know how anything work other than the “Protector” provides for them. Inside the planet core there is a massive device that is over a millennium old and in this device is inhabited with a humanoid woman. The woman is the Protector of the planet and inhabitants and she is dying. What decision the crew will make? Replace the Protector? Leave the inhabitants to die? Change the inhabitant’s culture to be self sufficient and destroy their culture? Destroy the planet so the tech does not fall into the wrong hands?
Start Point: Mac
Conclusion: Depends on the Decision.
Departments required:
Flexible depending on decisions.
Flight: Transportation to the Core (Additional duties might be needed)
Ops: Logistics of dealing with the antimatter collapse. Understanding the alien tech.
Security: Protect the crew from the civilization or deal with the Protector or studying their cloak and advanced weapons that still work over a millennia.
Science: 1)Archeology finding what happened 2)Studying the tech from the planet or culture.
Engineering: Deal with the radiation and finding out the origin of the tech
Medical: Understand the Culture or Find a New Protectorate
Intelligence: (If needed) Additional Governments that have an interest on this advanced tech.
Note: This mission is very versatile. There are plenty or roles that would variate depending on the decision of the crew. It would be a mostly philosophical mission rather than action oriented as there are multiple ethical issues here.
