He trusted the doctor to do what he could as they went. Shavan pressed the button S’Riia had indicated, and their surroundings dissolved around them yet again. As soon as they rematerialized at the rendezvous point, he turned to Isaiah and the others, ready to go back to the transport site. tag Isaiah Quinn Jonathan Hunt , rest of the away team

[ LT Joshua Niles - Deck 7, USS Mac ]{Spoiler}{Quoted Posts} [ ... Deck 7... ] The second satellite's tentacle continued to bore into the field, despite the repetitive imperatives that were uttered by Niles. Yet, there was a moment, when the tentacle withdrew exactly 1.49cm. "BioLogicaL iNTeRFace iNiTiaTeD... assessiNg... assessiNg... assessiNg...." The seconds continued to pass as it accepted and adapted the information being transmitted from the interface on the planetoid below. "Assessment complete. Viable components detected. Initiating Acquisition protocols." The tentacle that had been hovering in front of the forcefield, no dropped and bore into the deck itself... locating a power coupling feeding the field. The field itself began to flicker as its integrity began to diminish.
[ ... in orbit... ] The satellite processed the input from Commander Ellis, and shortly thereafter, processed the input from the interface below. "BioLogicaL iNTeRFace successFuL... assessiNg... assessiNg... assessiNg...." The moments passed rather quickly. "Assessment complete. Viable components detected. Initiating Acquisition protocols." At several points around the planetoid, power signatures matching the satellite currently hovering in orbit could be detected as coming online, as launch protocols were initiated.
[NPC - Crewman Ezra Mora - Engineering, USS Mac ] "Five minutes?" Ezra repeated. He moved over to the ensign to see what he was working on. "May I, sir?" he asked. As the ensign handed Ezra the PADD he quickly began to review it. "Diagnostics?" Ezra looked over at the ensign who simply nodded. "Is everything installed? No warning lights after you put them in?" As the ensign shook his head, Ezra kicked the console near the installation site. There was no change in color, and everything seemed good to go. He handed the PADD back to the ensign. "Thank you, sir."Ezra knew that time was of the essence, and if they didn't have some sort of alien probe mucking around in their systems a full diagnostic may be warranted. As things stood, those injectors would hold. "You've got Warp 1, Chief!"
Tag: Felicity Ellis , Kaya Som , Joshua Niles , Veronica Li , Syl O'Connell [Felicity Ellis - Bridge, USS Mac]It seemed there was no interest in diplomacy. Something flickered across her features when O'Connell reported the drone destroyed; something that would only be seen under certain circumstances. Within her blood cooled, her light blue stare turned icy. Jaw set, eyes narrowed, one fist clenched of its own accord, then fingers opened and shoulders dropped. Ready for battle. She had no idea what the biological interface it was referring to meant, but she was just about done with this incursion. "Be warned, any further damage to my ship or people will result in retaliation in kind." It claimed its purpose was to protect, yet its present actions invited aggression. She turned from the eerie image of gaTE C on her screen and faced Ops I. "Launch," she told Dimmadome, no longer caring if the optics of their actions would suggest one intent or another to the objects - they'd drawn their own conclusions already. It was then that Quinn's voice burst through their speakers. He confirmed two things for her: that they were still safe, and the AI's intent. She glanced over toward Dimmadome again, expression expectant. "I am calibrating the boost algorithm. 30 seconds!"Tapping her own commbadge, she made use of the restored communications to the Away Team below and responded. =/\= "Mac to Away Team, it's good to hear from you. We are having some issues of our own up here, and are working on getting warp back online. Standby." =/\= When Som reported that they finally had Warp 1, and Dimmadome confirmed breathlessly that he'd be able to lock on to the Away Team's signatures, but not while they remained at their current location, which was shrouded despite even the signal boost, Felicity knew that the clock was ticking and they'd have to come up with something, fast. =/\= "Away Team, this is Ellis. We can't lock on to your signatures currently. Get yourselves to the original transporter site - go. Now. We'll have a small window and I don't want to miss it." Not bothering to close the line, she began to loop in all of the departments in play. "Helm, time for more of that fancy flying. I want a completely random flight pattern; take us all over the system. Nothing from the database, all you. When we have our people on sensors, the Mac will need to be in position. Security, I want that thing off the ship. Now. Engineering, standby for Warp - we'll need everything we can get."She turned again to Dimmadome. "Ops. As soon as you have a safe lock, shout. This'll have to be timed perfectly." Felicity faced the front, eyes once again meeting the image of their intruder, the one who wished to protect, the one who wanted what wasn't theirs. "Tactical, standby shields down. Helm, on my mark." =/\= Mark.

[Petty Officer Kellen Gates - Outside Main Sickbay, Deck 7]Gatesy gave the question all its due consideration, for it was an interesting one. And it was important. "Sometimes," came his response, believing then in that moment that sometimes the denizens of this galaxy deserved fire. Sometimes, as an individual, he did not. It was the fairest answer he believed he could give with no time for preparation or study. Then Lieutenant Words began to talk again - he did a lot of talking at the object and Gatesy wondered if he was like that with organics, too. When the tentacle moved backward just the tiniest amounts, the young medic found himself moving forward again, toward the force field. The tone had changed, somehow. It claimed it had found an interface, and Kellen Gates worried that there might be someone elsewhere who would require his medical attention. And then it was like... it was like its mission had changed. "What components?" He asked, his voice taking on a sharper edge. "What 'acquisition protocols'? I thought you wanted to Protect? To be Prometheus?" Another step forward. "If there's something that you want from us, you can just ask."

Spasmodically, Ronnie's hand twitched towards the panel, primed to blow. Miniscule rivulets of sweat ran down her strong jaw. For the moment, she seemed to be forgotten. The security officers were in crisis mode, trying to talk the thing down. The medic was doing a bit better, she felt, but as she watched the eldritch looking being slither and flail she realized something crucial, something born of her deep seated, instinctive loathing of this thing. And then the captain herself ordered it, as if Felicity Ellis had come to the same epiphany in the same instant. This alien invader wasn't going to cooperate. The time for negotiation was over. People liked to forget that those that knew how to heal could also kill with just as much whim and vigor. It was the same with her. She could create a beautiful piece of art or destroy, and that was only with a paint brush. Why, here, on the Mac, she had all of the hard pumping, indefatigable and ceaselessly steely power of a Sovereign class starship to work with. Accordingly, Ronnie had applied a universal law: use enough gun, enough paint, or in this case enough explosive. She had jury rigged the bulkhead to blow and pack quite a punch in the process. She obsessively rubbed the ball of her left thumb over the pad of her pointer and index finger, biting her lip in a primal way. Reckoning that some unclassified octopod deep space dwelling extraterrestrial wouldn't know an old military adage back on Earth that was still used to this day, she yelled, " FIRE IN THE HOLE!" and set the panel to blow as she found cover around a corner. Tag: Joshua Niles Felicity Ellis "Shit."The single expletive was the first thing Niles could manage to say when the intruder gave up on trying to bore through the forcefield through main strength and instead burrowed into the deck and attacked the power conduit. And, as though the Commander was fully aware of what was happening down below, she just ordered him to get that thing off the ship by any means necessary. =A= "Niles, acknowledged,"=A= he replied instantly... and the Engineering Ensign seemed to be entirely ready to go and she wasted no time in detonating that little surprise that he had wanted to see prepared. The explosion had been enough to fill the space beyond the forcefield, and had enough force to overwhelm the emitters. However, as soon as the forcefield dropped, the Lieutenant's voice sounded, the violence of the moment taking him from the moment of initial shock and dismay to one of cool, ruthless clarity and when he spoke next his voice had grown cold and calm, and his eyes glinted dangerously. "Ensign, PO, get out of here. Remainder, fire at will." And between his hand phaser and the counter-boarding party's rifles, the corridor became a tornado of shrieking, lurid phaserfire to finish what the explosion would have started.

{Quoted Posts} [ SCPO Kaya Som | Engineering ]Was the demand. Came the reply. Ezra Mora with some sense in his head. Kaya slapped at her comm badge. "Bridge, we have Warp 1." Then she took a deep breath, ran a hand through her hair and waved a hand at the Engineers. Now that they had nominal warp speed available, the rest of their normal capacity would follow more quickly. If they didn't panic reboot, they should be fine. The thing was, of course, Engineering had no knowledge of the drama on the planet and no live stream view of the hull breach, so there was some relief in this victory. But they weren't done. She took a few paces away from the warp crew so she could start checking in with the repair crews. "Disaster response teams, status." Unless they'd all been sucked into space, engineers would start reporting in sequence. {Spoiler}[Felicity Ellis - Bridge, USS Mac]

Damage continued to be assessed even as the onslaught continued. It needed to deploy counter measures so that it could escape and continue to function. The phaser assault was persistent. These units of the Mac were barbarous... merciless... held no moral compass like those before. The satellite tried to escape, but found itself lodged in place. The tentacle that had planted itself in the floor was no longer fully receptive. Additional force was required to free itself. The assault continued... blast after blast. If the satellite could experience fear, it would believe that termination was imminent. The tendril that had been embedded in the panel had been injured as well, but it could serve another function. A deterrent until the satellite could free itself. As the tendril selected a viable target, the chief aggressor, Niles. The tendril moved through the space between them. Naturally, these units would flee at the sign of retaliation, and if not, Niles was an acceptable loss. Squelch! That was typically the sound when metal embedded itself in flesh-units. As sensors began to recalibrate, realization set in that the target struck was not Niles at all. Initial targeting sensors were compromised. The result: unintended. "gaTE C?" The tentacles retracted, both from the floor and from gaTE C. Now... retraction... retrieval... commence with acquisition protocols. The satellite left to rejoin with its primary, the blood of gaTE C, freezing to the metal the moment it reached open space. [ ... in orbit... ] The primary satellite became whole as the secondary merged with it once more. Meanwhile, nearly a dozen other satellites that had been lunched from somewhere on the planetoid's surface began to reach orbit. Aggregated data was shared among the satellites. The Mac's shields were negligible. While it's propulsion unit was primitive, it could be adapted to enrich the plantoid's reserves. "Acquisition will proceed," the satellite announced as they collectively began to converge on the Mac... the closest one beginning to power up before emitting a discharge.

Commander Isaiah Quinn - Rendezvous Point, Cavern, Planetoid] As Commander Ellis relayed her orders, Isaiah listened intently. He was actually surprised that they were having issues in orbit, and couldn't fathom what that meant. "Acknowledged," he answered simply. Isaiah had learned very early in his posting at Front Ear Station, that listening to Felicity Ellis could save your life. With the window being tight, the sudden reappearance of Shavan, Hunt, and S'Riia was a welcome sight. It seemed like all were accounted for, even though S'Riia looked a bit worse for ware. He was just about to order Dr. Hunt and Cadet Left Ear to take a look at the security officer when he suddenly heard a familiar sound, and the blood coursing through his veins froze. Isaiah turned his eyes beyond the obelisk. For him, and him alone, it was a familiar shriek... a knell of death... an encounter he didn't care to repeat as it nearly cost him his life the first time. "Run," Isaiah said simply. He wasn't sure if he had spoken the words aloud, but it didn't seem as if people were moving fast enough. "Shavan, I've got her. Take point, lead us back through your path. Rin... you and Miren bring up the rear. Phasers on stun... don't stop just shoot. Doc, Cadet... make sure nothing moves ahead of us on either side." He looked at the rest of the team as he draped S'Riia's arm around his neck and began to move forward. "Dammit, I said RUN!" For the love of God, nobody trip. In the distance, moving closer, one may have caught a glimpse of what was coming as an entire horde of them could be seen moving through the greenery.

[Ens. Syl O'Connell - USS Mac - Bridge]It was a relief to hear from the away team, and Felicity's orders brought another grin to her face. "A Commander after my own heart..." she replied, immediately hitting the buttons to send the drones back into their bay. Thankfully whatever what happening on Deck 7 kept the satellite occupied, so the three remaining docked without further incidents. "Hornets are back in their nest," she reported, pulling off the visor and putting it back in its spot on the panel. Once the latch was closed, the panel slid back into place, helm control transferring back to her primary console. "We've got warp three!" the pilot announced, simultaneously engaging the thrusters to get the ship moving again. Movement on her screen caught her attention, and Syl glanced down to see the red dot that had been attached to them moving away. Hopefully that meant the containment fields were in place... "Parasite has detached. Coming about." It was a bit of a relief to be back to flying a vessel she was more familiar with. The ship turned easily at her command, swooping back towards the planet to get in transporter range. As ordered, she didn't maintain a straight line, but kept the ship rocking and swerving to avoid any more energy blasts that might be aimed at them.

[Lt. JG Cerjess Miren - Mystery Planet]Reestablished contact with the other team was music to the Trill's ears. Cerjess didn't say anything, but kept his attention between Quinn's voice and the continuously running scans on his tricorder. When the holographic image appeared above the obelisk, Cerjess watched in fascination, listening as S'Riia relayed the information she was getting. Though that fascination quickly turned into horror. What happened next did so in quick succession. The second team rejoined them, contact with the ship, orders to get back to the transport site, and Isaiah's sudden panic at a sound that was coming in from behind them. Leaping into action, Miren quickly put his tricorder away and replaced it with his phaser. Turning his back to the others, he placed himself between them and... whatever was coming... And started firing towards the noises. Once the group started moving off, he followed, but continued shooting into the darkness to hopefully deter or slow down the threat.

[ Ensign Rin Zakir - Rendezvous Point - Planetoid] With his warning seemingly unheeded (they did need that intel, after all), Zak waited with baited breath as S'Riia presumably began the interface. Not that he would need to presume for much longer, as a light emitted from the obelisk and a holographic projection of some sort appeared. The image appeared to be in real time too, as he could see the other team and thee cavern they had found themselves in. At least, that was what it had initially appeared to be, but as the interface began, it became apparent that the first impression had been entirely incorrect. "There's our graveyard", he murmured, folding his arms as S'Riia relayed the information being shared with her. These people. these 'Alkur'i', had seen themselves as overseers of some sort, trying to gain knowledge on the worlds and cultures around them. Something had prompted them to put themselves in stasis, but something had gone wrong. Now, only an artificial intelligence remained, with no one left living to guide it. it was doing what it had been programmed to do. He couldn't help but wince at S'Riia's discomfort throughout the entire exchange. He hoped that the Prophets would keep her safe, and it seemed as though his silent prayer had been answered. She appeared to be a little worse for wear, but was otherwise alive and in no obvious danger of anything too serious. Dr. Hunt could confirm, but for now they had a more immediate concern. After the teams reunited, the revelation that the Mac was now in danger was more than a little concerning. Sure enough, they must be having problems themselves, as they were requested to return to the original transport site. However, it soon became necessary to make an even hastier retreat, as he heard something approach. A lot of somethings, somethings that they really didn't want catching them. They weren't creatures that he himself was familiar with, but judging by Quinn's reaction, as well as the urgency of his orders, meant that he at least knew what they were facing. Moving to the back with Miren, he pulled out his phaser once more, making sure the stun setting was on before he too shot into the darkness. Running and firing at the same time was probably something he was more experienced with than Miren, but it was still a lot to concentrate on at once. Run, fire, don't get eaten, and for the love of the Prophets, don't trip! Isaiah Quinn , Syl O'Connell , Left Ear to-Ennien , Shavan Th'zhaar , Jonathan Hunt

{Quotes: Murder Monster, Li, Lt. Words} [ENS Veronica "Ronnie" Li - Deck 7 - P-Way] The situation was deteriorating fast. [ LT Joshua Niles - Deck 7, USS Mac ]"Shit."The single expletive was the first thing Niles could manage to say when the intruder gave up on trying to bore through the forcefield through main strength and instead burrowed into the deck and attacked the power conduit. [ ... Deck 7... ] Even now, gaTE C continued to acquire... to negotiate, yet the other units were committed to aggression. Why? Why was gaTE c different? " Power replacement must be acquired," the image of gaTE C replied. "Operation failures will result in loss knowledge... lost fi--"The satellite aboard the Mac could sense impact of the concussive force. [Petty Officer Kellen Gates - Outside Main Sickbay, Deck 7]"Power replacement..." Gates was trying to concentrate, but all around him people were shouting at each other and Felicity was issuing orders through Lt. Words' commbadge and one of the tentacles was trying to drill through the floor. "What do you need power for?"FIRE IN THE HOLE!Kellen Gates knew what that meant. His favourite holonovels were James Bond and other assorted spy stories. As quickly as he could, he turned, facing away from his own face in the panel and toward the end of the passageway. He was intent on following the engineer, but he did not get very far. He heard the sound of the thing piercing his flesh before he felt it. His eyes, wide with shock and horror, slid downward toward his shoulder. The tentacle had inserted itself through his upper back, and those terrifying pincers had broken through the other side. Then, as quickly as they had appeared, they were gone. "W-Why?" He murmured in question, while all around him chaos reigned. Explosions, phaser fire, then the sound of his own body hitting the floor. For a few brave moments he fought. He tried to push himself up and away from the ground with his good arm, but he'd lost a lot of blood and he kept slipping. His palms slick with red, and his vision becoming dark around the edges, he looked up toward the hiding engineer. He hadn't gotten her name. He'd call her Ensign Boomtown. Then Gatesy's eyes rolled up into the back of his head.

[ Cadet Left Ear to-Ennien - Mysterious Planet] Oh, this was not going well. Not at all. Though Left Ear was relieved to see the rest of the team in person again. She was about to offer to have a look at S'Riia when a strange shrieking noise make her flatten her ears in pain. And then Quinn was issuing orders, his tone seeming to lose some of its calmness. Left Ear smelled...something. It was even a little familiar; she'd smelled it on Kerelia. If the commander was worried about it, she took it seriously. The Sivaoan was tempted to drop to all fours to run, but her new Starfleet training kicked in. For the first time in a real situation, Left Ear drew her phaser and took a position a little ahead of Quinn and S'Riia but behind Shavan. She could hear the creatures, whatever they were, now. When she finally caught sight of what they were, her fur began standing on end. Left Ear had never seen one herself on Kerelia, but she'd smelled them, and she'd seen pictures - they reminded her of grabfoots back home on Sivao. Though these were even scarier looking, if that was possible. Tag Isaiah Quinn, Shavan Th'zhaar, Rin Zakir, Syl O'Connell, Jonathan Hunt

[ ... [Lt. [Felicity Ellis & Lieutenant Doug Dimmadome - Bridge, USS Mac]"I'm tracking their progress now, Capmander, they're on the move," Dimmadome called, just as the acknowledgements came pouring in. Their flight officer was quick to pull back their hornets, though they were unfortunately one light thanks to the ornery UFOs, and began to throw the ship into another series of manoeuvres designed to evade fire and confuse. For a quick moment Felicity entertained a notion as to what might have happened had another pilot been on duty that day, and then dismissed it. Those were log thoughts for later. "C-Commander! You're not going to believe this..." It seemed that the normally shy and retiring lieutenant's demeanour had defaulted to perma-shock during this mission. "I'm picking up a mass of biosigns. They came out of nowhere! There's a match in the database... They're... Commander, there are tritters down there. And they're h-headed straight for the Away Team!"Tritters!? That couldn't be right, they were indigenous to Kerelia, weren't they? Whatever was going on though, was a mystery that would have to be solved later. O'Connnell confirmed that the intruder from Deck 7 had been removed from the ship, and a quick check of her console confirmed that force fields had sprung up all over the deck to compensate for the breaches. "Lieutenant!" She snapped, her voice a whip-crack of warning. "Almost, almost! They're almost there!""Helm, bring us into range!""That's it! I've got a lock!" In his haste and excitement to get his words out, the man on Ops I spat all over his own console. "Beaming out!"

[ SCPO Kaya Som | Engineering ]"Cheif, confirming a G2 explosion at the breach site - on Deck 7.""Fantastic!" came Kaya's response. At about the same time, Ensign Li finally piped up. :comm:"Acknowledged,":comm: Kaya responded quickly before beginning a new round of emergency orders. It felt like the voice was coming from someone else, like she was watching herself from a distance. She hestitated only a moment, but she realized she knew what to do. At least, she thought she knew what to do. "Mora, divert the plasma coolant from that section of Deck 7 and see if the emergency fire mitigation is still working." Out of the corner of her eye, she saw that station that monitored engine power output was lit up bright - the ship was taking evasive maneuvers. Elsewhere, the ensign watching over other systems observed a boost of energy to the transporters. From here in the stomach of the ship, the situation had become clear: they were making a run for it. [ LT Joshua Niles - Deck 7, USS Mac ]{Quoted Posts} [ENS Veronica "Ronnie" Li - Deck 7 - P-Way] The passageway was dark with smoke except for the phaser fire, shockingly bright in the dim. The moment that the explosion had gone off Ronnie had thrown herself headlong to the deck, hugging it for dear life. The cloth wrapped metal beneath her literally vibrated her. Anything that was powerful enough to rattle the deck of a space vessel as large as the Mac was quite a doozy. Perhaps she had been a tad overzealous. Ronnie was quite hopeless with any sort of weapon. All of this had already been too much interaction and exertion already. Strange aliens, barking security men, explosions, phaser fire... ...and now her chief loudly demanding, over comms, a sit-rep. Whelp. She was duty bound to respond, but first she would do the smart thing and get to safety. Ronnie's hand found her engineering kit as she scrabbled through the one sided firefight. Her long painter's fingers curled around the familiar object. She hugged it to her chest as if it was a precious childhood stuffed toy. She organized her kit the same way she organized her art supplies. In fact, she had commissioned a woodworking artist back home to make the kit for her. It was an unusual shape, boxy, not very ergonomic. Starfleet issue engineering kits could be stacked like cubes, but Ronnie had wanted something all her own. Any chief engineer who tried to make an issue of her carrying a non-issue toolkit soon found a recalcitrant ensign on their hands. It was her special possession, and she wasn't going to just leave it there. Sentimental value, was the term. Finally, the artist was around a bulkhead, safe for the time being. She tapped her commbadge with a shaking hand. "=/\= Li to Som. We've got a real mess on our hands down here. The EPS conduit blew, maybe even the entire plasma coolant duct. Tags: Joshua Niles , Veronica Li , Isaiah Quinn Superiority of fire. He might not have focused heavily on physical security, but Niles certainly knew of the concept as it was universal to all forms of ranged combat ever since sentient beings learned to duck when something was flying at their heads with intent. And between the explosion, his hand phaser and the rifles of the six members of the counter-boarding party he certainly established that quickly. The air smelled of ozone and charred metal, of evaporated coolant and burning plasma, and he was vaguely aware that a sizable piece of metal went flying past him at some point. And it would seem that, indeed, the firefight had been won for the damn thing that had boarded them withdrew down the path it had taken to enter the Mac. Which, well, was the signal for everyone to stop firing. His heart was beating like a drum in his chest, and he tapped his commbadge. =A= "Niles to Commander Ellis. Ma'am, the boarder has broken contact, looks like it's leaving. Unable to pursue because of ruptured conduits and..."=A= He was just turning around to ascertain the status of everyone who'd been with him in the corridor and stopped as soon as he saw Gates laid out on the deck in an expanding pool of blood. =A="One severe casualty! Gates is hurt, taking him to Sickbay now! Niles out!."=A= At least, the counter-boarding party knew their business and they wasted little time in grabbing the medic and heading right back where he would normally be working... only to find the medical facility had been deserted. Between the away team, damage control and casualty clearance parties and the need to evacuate the deck, odds are not a one of them was anywhere near at this time. "Put him on a biobed," he called out, if a little unnecessarily. "Computer, activate EMH."Well, one thing for certain, a balding hologram did not appear, but the computer did make an outraged sound. "Computer, EMH, now!" And again, the computer bleeked in displeasure. "Computer, respond!""EMH is non-responsive; Sickbay hologrid is down."Well, that wasn't good, and there was no way in hell Gates would live long enough for another medic to get on the scene which meant... Niles' eyes darted across the medical bay, only to see an emergency casualty cart that had been pulled out earlier, probably when Yellow Alert had been called. And it meant it would be time to see if he remembered one of his Security-related electives: emergency trauma casualty care. "Get that cart over here," he barked at one of the crewmen as he dashed to the prostrate Petty Officer, and was pleased to see the biobed's scanners were still operating and he very quickly had an idea of the extent of the damage... and it wasn't good. Without taking the time to think, he pulled a cauterizer from the cart and quickly adjusted the settings. That was something he'd been taught to do, and it wasn't guaranteed to work, but he didn't have much choice but to try or let him bleed out. "Petty... Gatesy, I don't know if you can hear me. There's no nice way to do this, and it's going to hurt," he said... before he jammed the instrument into Gates' entry wound and swirled it around a few times, the superheated rod closing off blood vessels and searing flesh. Which meant that for now he not only had to contend with blood sticky on his hands, but also the sickening smell of roast pork wafting into the air, but somehow he managed to hold on to his last meal. With a terse gesture, he indicated two of the Security detail to roll his casualty onto his side, and he repeated the process with the thoroughly gruesome exit wound. All right, bleeding would be mostly under control for now, and when he dropped the smoking tool back onto the cart, it was to withdraw a hypospray of a triox compound, which he immediately followed up with setting up an IV drip of blood expanders, a process that had him missing the vein a few times before he got the line set up. And if Niles had properly remembered his training, if he did everything correctly and Gates was lucky and some real medics would start returning to Sickbay sooner rather than later, he was no longer in immediate risk of dying. Hopefully.

[Lt Shavan Th’zhaar - Planetoid -> Transporter Room, USS Mac] Shavan stepped back as Isaiah took over helping S’Riia. A sudden screeching sound then split the air, and the Commander seemed to recognize it as something dangerous. Wait… was that the sound of tritters? It didn’t matter; there was no time to dwell on it. Following the order, Shavan quickly drew his phaser and took the lead, running back down the path his group had taken earlier. Firing at anything that threatened to block the path ahead, he sensed the rest of the team close behind and could only hope they all kept up. They burst out of the cavern and into the chill air of the planet’s surface, but he did not slow yet. They were still some distance away from the transport site… The shrieks of the tritters grew louder behind them… Suddenly caught in a transporter beam, the planetoid vanished around him, to be replaced by the transporter room of the Mac. He drew in a deep breath and glanced back to check on the rest of the team as his eyes adjusted to the bright light. Isaiah Quinn Jonathan Hunt Left Ear to-Ennien Rin Zakir Syl O'Connell
