[Hot Candy - Southern Comfort Pop-Up Piknik Spot, Park, Deck 6]Candy Barr was an entrepreneur at heart. It was in her blood, it pumped through her veins and one day it would make her just as much latinum as it had her daddy, and his daddy before him. Sure, things would be easier if one of them would just give her the funds to set up her own legitimate business somewhere closer to civilisation, but since that wasn't forthcoming (not in a month of Sundays), she'd just have to hustle. The park had no cafés in it, and Candy thought that was just a crying shame. Sometimes small stalls set up during events and festivals, but on a regular old day in June, there didn't seem to be anyone about to take advantage of the footfall. And even more importantly, there wasn't anyone around to stop her from taking advantage of the footfall. And so, close to the small group of picnic tables, just next to the tinkling, trickling stream, Candy opened shop. Standing behind a catering table, which she'd covered with a pink gingham cloth, she was packing delightful little wicker baskets full of the absolute necessities for a proper Southern picnic. Fried chicken bites, cold pasta salads, homemade spicy slaw and potato salad with fresh bread rolls, a small tray of peach cobbler, with lemonade for the kids and frozen fruit daquiris for the not-kids; food all replicated that morning, though the sign read: Nobody would know the difference. The devil spawn punching one of her pink and yellow balloons, which were tied to a nearby bench and pulled the whole presentation together, certainly wouldn't know. And the young ensign trying to chat her up wouldn't care. "Do you come with the basket?"She laughed at his terrible line, a pleasant sound amidst the relative peace of the park. Her eyes crinkled in the corners as she looked at him. "Oh, honey, I don't think that's legal."The ensign's smirk grew and he leaned in closer, hands splayed on the table. "That smile of yours isn't legal. I'll take a basket, but in return you have to join me."Candy blushed, her cheeks turning a pretty light rose colour, and she looked up at him from beneath long lashes. "'kay," she said breathlessly. He leaned in further without even realising it, and Candy knew she had him. "But we'll need one each. Something tells me we'll be working up quite the appetite."The ensign was already whipping out his handheld, ready to pay. "I'll be finished in twenty minutes," she told him as she took payment with a smile, "I'll meet you at the triple tree near the west exit. It's real private there."Catching her meaning - well, a rock could catch her meaning - the young, gullible man took two of the baskets and with a broad, smug grin, took off for a place that didn't exist. ... ..... ........ "Sucker."She giggled to herself and checked her balance with glee.

[NPC - Rimi Mora - Park, Deck 6] June. One of the great things about this month was that school was out. Hence, Rimi didn't have to go through the hassle of cutting class. She thought it would mean that she'd actually be able to spend the day without her dad getting on her case, but that wasn't true. No, instead he was yapping on and on about responsibility. And somewhere in his soapbox speech he came up with the idea that she needed to get a summer job. Naturally, his suggestion was to volunteer at the library and help the primary grades with reading and crafts. Had he somehow forgotten that teenagers were deathly allergic to anything academic during the summer? She was supposed to be signing up now, but perhaps if she avoided it long enough, it'd be too late. She came to the park, and she could already see some of her classmates enjoying the summer. A group were throwing a frisbee disc around, while a trio of girls were dipping their toes in the stream, giggling at some of the boys. Rimi rolled her eyes. Whether it was out of annoyance or envy, she wasn't prepared to dissect. What she wanted was to find somewhere to sit, relax and perhaps enjoy some of her newfound free time of the summer break. She found herself sitting down next to a tree, but quickly found that to be a mistake. It was undoubtedly the smell that was distracting her. When she finally relented and allowed her eyes to follow her nose, they settled on this young woman... if you could call her that. Oddly enough, Rimi actually found herself recalling some of the Greek Mythology they had studied recently. The Greeks humanized their gods to an extent. Rimi wouldn't have been surprised if someone like this blonde woman had been a goddess herself. She was beautiful... flawless... and it soon became obvious that Rimi wasn't the only one to notice. Some Starfleet ensign had approached her, and he was like putty in her hands. The desire in his eyes was evident from the beginning, and she just rolled his heart from one end of the table to the next with no effort. Admittedly, Rimi had seen this scene play out before, but never so masterfully. She certainly had never had anyone look at her like that. Rimi had actually moved a little closer, and overheard her mention some triple tree near the west exit. After he moved on, Rimi slowly moved closer to the table. Was it curiosity, or had she found herself in the same trap as the man before her. "There's no triple tree near that exit," Rimi said as she reached the table. Her eyes stared at the baskets on the table. She slowly reached for one of the baskets to pry into its contents. "What is all of this stuff? And why not set up on the Promenade? There's way more foot traffic there. Though you need a permit for that, right? Wait, do you even have a permit for this?"

[Hot Candy - Southern Comfort Pop-Up Piknik Spot, Park, Deck 6]Aquamarine eyes flashed toward the young woman when she spoke. An alarm bell had started to ring in Candy's ears, and it got louder and louder, echoing in her mind the more this little curious kitten spoke. With each sentence she revealed another of Candy's misdeeds. Was this a threat? Was it simply a teenager's inability to engage brain before mouth? Whatever it was, either way, it was a danger to Candy and her burgeoning picnic enterprise. The smile was winding its way back to default wattage, but she was watchful. Not every fly could be caught with her special brand of honey. Sometimes, before you pounced, you had to wait. "This "stuff"," she accentuated the term, leaving a little distaste in the tone for it, "Is the kind of food we eat where I'm from. We've got fried chicken, tasty cold salads with a smidge of a kick, some pie, and a nice and refreshin' beverage to wash it all down with." Smoothly, she pulled from a basket a glass bottle that contained half a litre of strawberry daiquiri. Candy might have replicated all of the food, but she'd made the drinks herself. She'd recently been offered the opportunity to upgrade her quarters with any fixture her heart desired, and she'd chosen to install a bar. It had taken up the entirety of their common area, but she didn't care. "You're welcome to try," she offered, her voice just as sweet as the drink she was holding. "It's got strawberries, lime, syrup and most importantly, lotsa alcohol. Specifically rum." Candy reckoned the girl was late teens. In her estimation, most teenagers were simple sorts, despite the emotional trauma they seemed to inflict upon themselves during every waking moment. In any case, she'd been fairly simple herself. Boys, parties and escaping her parents - those had been her favourite things to do. It was different now that she was grown; she could do any of the things she wanted, but it wasn't so long ago that she was this very striking young trill's age. "I won't tell if you won't."

[NPC - Rimi Mora - Park, Deck 6] There may have been just a hint of extra sass accompanying that strange accent from the blonde goddess. Her tone was still sweet, so it was still a bit difficult to nail down. She explained that the food was native to where she came from. It was a rare reaction, but Rimi almost felt inclined to tell the young woman that she was "from Earth" as well. Of course, she could count the number of times she'd visited the planet on one hand. Of course, seeing her spots, it was natural for people to assume she was a pure Trill. Either way, Rimi remained silent as she continued on. Of course, she knew what fried chicken was. She'd never seen a live one in person, but that was besides the point. Rimi wasn't certain one way or another if much more of what the woman said passed as appetizing until she mentioned the pie. Then, came the invitation to try some. Rimi's eyes widened. It was a free sample, right? She wasn't going to turn that down. Her excitement possibly increased a bit more as the woman began to hint at the alcohol that was available as well. That was up for sampling too, right? If this lady was passing it out hassle-free, well, that certainly beat trying to get some snoozer to buy her a drink at the Blue Beta. Rimi even heard the agreement of not telling if she didn't as consent. "Whatever you say, lady," Rimi said with a smile. She reached for one of the frozen daiquiris, and closed her hand around the concoction. She slowly brought it closer and closer to her lips, convinced this was the way to start one's summer.

[Hot Candy - Southern Comfort Pop-Up Piknik Spot, Park, Deck 6]Candy visibly shuddered at being called 'lady'. In the best sense of the word, of course, she was absolutely a lady. That's how she'd been raised and it was how she believed she conducted herself. But it was also what she used to call old hags when she was younger. It made her feel old. Candy did not enjoy feeling old. But someone had to show these young idiots the right way and the wrong way, surely? "Oh no, honey, nono, you don't drink it like that! You'll give yourself brain freeze!" With a tsk-tsk she shook her head, holding up her hand in a stop motion to save the opportunistic girl from embarrassing herself. "You just hold right there, I got what you need here somewhere..." She bent down and reached into one of the containers she'd had one of the shy cadets trudge all the way to the Park for her, looking for some glasses. "Here we go!" Her eyes lit up when she found them, then she straightened and offered one of the mason jar glasses to her unpaying customer. "Pour it in here, then we add a straw - environmentally friendly, natch. An umbrella - that makes it summer festive. And then a couple of whole, frozen berries for garnish."While she waited for the girl to grasp what she was saying, and pour out the delicious drink, a middle-aged human woman walked by and stared. "I hope that's not alcohol you're giving that child!"Child? Was she blind? The girl was clearly a maturing young woman. But none of that showed on Candy's face. She smiled a simpering smile. "Oh, my! It's fruit, I assure you. And some syrup." Technically not a lie, just lots of omissions. She beamed at the intruder, who of course owned the little brat who'd been punching her balloons and had arrived to drag him away. "Y'all have a nice day!" Then through the bright smile and clenched jaw she added, "You old crone."

[NPC - Rimi Mora - Park, Deck 6] So close... and yet, apparently denied just the same. It appeared that the blonde goddess giveth and taketh away in the same breath. Though, she didn't seem interested in shooing Rimi away. In fact, she had told her to stay put. "Brain freeze?" Rimi repeated. In terms of excuses, it certainly wasn't one that she had been expecting. Though as the moments passed, it seemed that this was becoming something of a teachable moment. Rimi arched her eyebrow as the instruction began by pouring the the daiquiri into a jar. It cleaned up quite nice and appeared even more delectable once the fruit, umbrella and straw had been added. Seemed like one of those fancy drinks people ordered in the Blue Beta all the time. It appeared that that was the only interference her hostess was going to offer. Though some older woman showed up asking if she was serving alcohol to Rimi. Rimi's head lowered slightly. Busted yet again. Was this station built on an adult principle of community pissing on her parade? Yet, what surprised Rimi even more was the blonde goddess denying that. She stated that it was fruit and syrup... and had left a lot of other stuff off the list. The older woman didn't put up much of a debate as she clearly had her hands full with a child of her own. The witty comment that escaped the lips of the goddess hadn't gone unnoticed by Rimi, and actually brought a smile to her face. Believing the coast to be clear, Rimi casually secured her hands around the jar and tugged it closer. Her fingers closed around the straw as she sloshed the contents around. Her eyes were studying the goddess though, as she was clearly not at all what Rimi expected. "You're... different from the rest of them," Rimi proclaimed. "Good different, I mean. Everyone else acts like just because they're a couple of decades older than me that I'm not a person."

[Hot Candy - Park, Deck 6]It did not even register with Candy that the girl had lumped her in with the other oldies, the ones she'd said were 'decades' older. Such was the strength of her own self-identity. "That's just 'cause they forget what it's like to be young. Young and beautiful, with the galaxy at your feet. Then you become shrivelled and old and full of regrets, which gives you wrinkles."Candy decided to pour her own self a glass of daiquiri, and she pulled another bottle from beneath the table. This one was mango, which was her favourite. She pulled out the cork, these old-fashioned details were what made the picnic experience, she found, and poured a little into a mason jar. "People look at me and they see the blonde hair and the big smile, the accent and the flirting and they assume that I got nothin' else in my head." Candy was not stupid. But she smiled at the thought, eyes bright as she shrugged her shoulders and brought the straw to her lips. "But my mama always says that being underestimated is one of the best tactical advantages you can have in life. They never see us comin'."She took a refreshing sip, studying the trill girl all the while. She placed her glass on the table once she was finished. "You just stay right there, honey, you're a live advertisement for my business."A few more people passing by slowed their walk, curiosity piqued at the pair of them enjoying a refreshing drink in the park, surrounded by wicker picnic baskets and balloons.

[NPC - Rimi Mora - Park, Deck 6] Admittedly, Rimi's attention was slightly torn. She sipped at the daiquiri again, still uncertain if it was about to disappear out of her hand at any moment. She finally took a sip of it. It was certainly sweet, and had the barest hint of alcohol just as she swallowed. It mad the Trill girl wonder if this was actual alcohol or synthehol. She could ask, but would that just make her appear like a kid that was too dumb to know the difference. She opted for the slow drink... just in case. Her attention returned to the blonde goddess as she mentioned becoming old and shriveled and that causing wrinkles. Rimi's eyes widened, as that was certainly a fate she hoped to avoid. There was a lot of talk about being underestimated. It was like gospel to Rimi's ears. People constantly underestimated her, especially her father she felt. He just didn't trust her to be herself and explore who she was and her heritage. "My dad's that way," Rimi confessed. "He seems to be clueless that growing up means actually growing up! He's totally stuck in dictator mode." Though... how mature was it to sit there and rag on her dad. She was glad when the subject changed, but did a double-take as she put together the words the goddess had spoken. "Wait a minute. I'm a what?" she asked. Though, as quickly as she put the words together, Rimi got an idea. "And... what exactly would the going rate be for a live advertisement?" Rimi noticed the people slowing down as they walked by. She leaned over and took another sip of the daiquiri through the straw. "Oh wow! This is amazing! I'd better let my friends know so they can try this too!" Her voice had raised loud enough to carry and was slightly animated to sell her point. Rimi only wondered if it'd pay off and draw another customer over... and possibly lead to an answer to her earlier question.

[Hot Candy - Park, Deck 6]Candy didn't tell the girl that the Dictator Mode didn't have an off button. At least, it hadn't for her. She didn't want to rain all over the kid's parade; not if she thought that one day by being officially "grown up" it would stop. Candy had journeyed to a whole 'nother quadrant to escape the Dictator's reach. He'd stopped her allowance and refused to release her inheritance, so she'd struck out on her own to prove that she could. Sometimes that's what a girl had to do. When talk turned to financial compensation for certain services, Candy's smile slipped into genuinely pleased territory. She couldn't help but see some of the entrepreneurial spirit in the trill, who also, to her credit, wasn't missing a beat. Candy smothered a giggle at the enthusiastic advertising, though her eyes were already on an approaching group of civvies, obviously on their lunch break. "All made fresh in my very own cosy kitchen, with love!" She responded brightly. Then she lowered her voice and leaned in closer. "Ten percent of any sale you help me make."She beamed at two young Andorians, who were reading the sign with a little curiosity. "Frozen homemade daiquiris in an assortment of fruity flavours, ladies! A bottle free with each picnic!""What's your name, honey?" Candy asked her potential assistant in a lowered voice, before the customers could get close enough to hear her mutterings.

[NPC - Rimi Mora - Park, Deck 6] Rimi briefly thought about the proposition of ten percent of the sales. She knew that would certainly be more than she'd earn working at the library, but she couldn't help but wonder just how much more she could potentially earn. As the goddess' attention turned towards a pair of the oncoming customers, Rimi thought about how she could possibly counter and justify a higher percentage of the sales. Of course, she also thought it wise to insert herself into this current potential sale. "I can promise, you're not going to find anything that comes close to this anywhere else on the station," Rimi chimed. "Remember, authentic... not replicated. I think we can all agree that there is a difference."When asked what her name was, the young Trill realized introductions hadn't been made. "My name's Rimi," she replied lowly. "Thirty percent, and I can assist with prep." Rimi turned her attention back to the Andorians. "Not to mention how you can avoid the lines and fuss of the promenade, and pick out an intimate spot where you can actually experience lunch and not just eat it."

[Hot Candy - Park, Deck 6]Candy was impressed. Not just by the gumption, which she really, really liked, but also by the seemingly natural patter of the young saleswoman in training. Rimi was presenting authentic food as the superior option, as well as perhaps implying that it was something anyone should know. Candy blinked at the starting offer, and was beginning to wonder if this trill had a two thousand year old Ferengi-channelling host behind her wheel, but she found herself unable to argue all that much as Rimi continued to sell, sell, sell. And she closed the deal. The two Andorians took a basket and happily transferred the asking price. "Y'all have a nice day! Enjoy that lunch experience!" Candy liked that: a lunch experience. She'd have to incorporate it into pitches. Hair flicking over her shoulder, she turned back toward the young trill. She never accepted the first offer, of course, but she felt skill should be rewarded fairly. "25%, with prep assist, and you get to take home half of anything we don't shift." She realised that would include any unsold daiquiris, but frankly what she did with them was none of her business. Candy Barr wasn't the local constabulary. Then she stuck out her hand and grinned a very genuine grin, that wrinkled her nose. "I'm Candy. Welcome aboard, Rimi."

[NPC - Rimi Mora - Park, Deck 6] The young Trill was actually surprised when the Andorians made a purchase. She didn't doubt the effort that had been put into it, but it was a rather shocking experience to see that it had actually paid off. And paid off it had. Candy countered with another offer of 25%, assisting in prep and being able to take home half of anything they didn't move. The offer was well beyond the young woman's expectations, but she knew better than to argue with the likes of this blonde goddess. Plus, it would have just been plain stupid to do so. Yet, such an offer also came with expectations that Rimi could continue to help move product and with respect in her ability to do so. Something Rimi hadn't felt for quite a while. "Deal!" Rimi said, reaching out to shake Candy's hand. In the back of her mind, she thought about how best to explain this all to her father, whom she had technically disobeyed while being obedient. Somehow, she thought he'd only see the former, but that was a problem for another time. "I guess we've got work to do, then." Her eyes scouted their surroundings for their next customer. And granted, there was one particular sight which seemed to prompt a question in the young Trill's mind. "One question, though: How do we handle returns?"

[Hot Candy - Park]"To the start of a beautiful business relationship," Candy declared, before raising her glass of mango daiquiri to toast with her brand new employee. She was taking a delicate sip, mind already considering an expansion of operations, when Rimi asked about returns. "Returns? We don't," she began, before her eyes were naturally drawn toward a sight ahead of them. And there he was, the ensign with two baskets, making his way through the people strolling through the park and back towards her. Candy ducked immediately, and hurriedly squished herself beneath the table. "Psst! Tell him I ain't here! That I've gone to meet him!" She hissed up to Rimi, a rosy tint to her cheeks from the sudden exertion. But despite all of that, the curve of her lips suggested that she was also amused. "Whatever you do, don't give him his credits back!"Then she bit her lip and stopped talking as the young man approached. "Hey," he said to Rimi, his expression distracted, "Where's the other girl? The cute blonde who made up these picnic baskets?" He started looking around as though he expected her to appear from thin air if he wished it hard enough.

[NPC - Rimi Mora - Park, Deck 6] Somehow, Rimi had expected there was a no returns policy, but Candy had certainly caught on to why she had asked. The ensign was definitely headed in their direction, and the young Trill was pretty sure it wasn't to see her. Candy began to fire off a series of excuses as she squeezed herself beneath the table, and all the while she had been adamant about no refunds. "Yeah, yeah... I got it!" Rimi replied quickly as she began to settle herself at the table. As the ensign approached, Rimi met him with a smile. Though, she may as well have been invisible because he was definitely there for Candy. She thought about how to sell this, because he was quickly seeming like the type that wasn't going to leave empty-handed. Her own eyes seemed to sample the ensign from head to... waist-ish. "Oh... so you're the reason she tore out of here so fast," Rimi said with a smirk. "I can certainly see why."

[Hot Candy - Park]From beneath the table, Candy giggled. Then hurriedly she clapped her hand over her mouth, trying to smother the sounds. She couldn't help it, it seemed that Rimi was a natural at several things. Ensign Nönamé responded with a very easy grin at the young trill's words. He was obviously used to female attention, and instead of being embarrassed or uncomfortable by it, he enjoyed every moment. "That's me," he confirmed, winking at Rimi. "I would have gotten into picnics much sooner had I known it was such a magnet for pretty girls."A noise that sounded a lot like a snort coming from beneath the table caught his attention and he leaned forward, his expression suspicious.
