Myker Vulbrix - Park, Front Ear Station] The Betazoid was acutely aware how idle this conversation was, how he probably should leave the pair in peace. However he'd been trying rather have more conversations at the advice of those who cared about him, isolating himself was definitely no good. Myk nodded at the woman's words, Five out of eight isn't so bad. He noted about seeing the five of their grandchildren, not that he meant they didn't miss the others just as much. It was just that a fair few people didn't have family on the station at all, himself included. Well I am sure your return is bitter-sweet. He commented, he didn't know for certain but over the years he'd learnt that many people, humans and others alike found returning to their stations or ships created some mixed emotions. Of course he could understand that, having left Betazed to return to the Mac had been a challenge. Perhaps more visits are in order .Myker said idly once again glancing at the dogs before returning his attention back to the couple. I must visit Earth again sometime. It's been a long while. The last time he'd been on Earth was during his older sisters academy days. With that thought he realised that may be a visit he didn't want to make. Judith Eastman

[Capt. Judith Eastman(-Williams), PhD & Max Williams - Park]A longing for more time on Earth was a common thing to see among humans - even those who were not raised there - but not so much among Betazoids. It was something that piqued both Judy and Max's curiosity. They both exchanged a look, and then he spoke, "How long has it been since you left the Academy?" he asked. It seemed a logical assumption that the Academy was the thing that had brought Myker to earth last, especially with his rank.

[ Myker Vulbrix - Park ] Myker wouldn't call it a longing in the greatest sense of the word. He knew Earth and being there would mean much more to the humans he was currently engaged in conversation with. Earth had just been there at a particular difficult stage in his life, or maybe it was simply his sister he missed. It took Myk a moment to register Max's question and the a soft smile crossed his features once again. Of course it made sense for the couple to assume he'd been to the Academy. They would be partly correct. "I studied on Betazed, linguistics and anthropology." He noted. "My sister was at the Academy so I'd visit her once in a while" he explained his connection to the human homeworld, at least in part, he took a moment before continuing. "Then I spent sometime on Earth sometime after joining Starfleet, I worked with a specialist there." he added. If the couple asked more questions he'd happily answer he just rarely volunteered information. He hadn't returned to Earth since, knowing that his connection to Earth lay with his sister who was no longer around. Judith Eastman

[Capt. Judith Eastman(-Williams), PhD & Max Williams - Park]"Ah, I see," Max replied, a bit sheepish about the mistaken assumption. There were two ways for the conversation to go forward from here, but both senior citizens were more interested in the personal than the professional. "Where's your sister posted?" Judy asked.

[ Myker Vulbrix - Park] Myk noted the sheepishness and sort of shrugged it off, it was meant to reassure Max that he hadn't minded the assumption. "Starfleet and the Academy tend to go hand in hand". He noted, since it seemed like an obvious connection hence the mistaken assumption. Myker looked at Judy only for a moment when his sister was mentioned, for a brief moment his skills in hiding deep seated emotions failed him. He looked down at the canines and then used that brief second to collect himself. He then spoke, "My sister isn't around anymore. She was lost to the war like many others had been." He said simply, matter of factly. He knew many had been lost in the wars but the fight for Betazed had been the one that had hit him and his family. Judith Eastman

[Capt. Judith Eastman(-Williams), PhD & Max Williams - Park]A somberness suddenly came over the couple, and especially Judy. "Yes, we lost too many good people," Judy all but whispered. "Sorry about your sister."The glumness emanating from the Captain was a bit much, enough that Max felt a need to explain. "Judy served as a First Officer on the frontlines during the war."She nodded.

[ Myker Vulbrix - Park, Front Ear Station] The ability to read minds wasn't needed to notice the gloom that seemed to come over the two. Myker felt bad for a moment for mentioning the war. He could see it had somewhat struck a nerve. ”They’ll be remembered as heroes.” His words were meant to be reassuring, he wasn’t so sure they were. He himself would much rather have his sister than a hero, often having to remind himself she'd died to save Betazed as had many others. He nodded about his sister, he didn't think his words could express what either of them felt. He decided not to speak more on the topic, he didn’t feel he could offer any real reassurance. Hearing Max explain, Myk nodded, ”Well your service is invaluable.” He responded hoping the woman at least felt valued. Myker had always valued Starfleet and their help to save Betazed would forever be appreciated. Myk wasn’t sure how to switch the topic, the gloom weighing heavy on him as his mental shields were hammered with the grief that came with this sort of thing. ”How long have you had your dogs?” Myker asked, it was a weak play for a shift in mood but it was the best he had. [Capt. Judith Eastman(-Williams), PhD & Max Williams - Park]As Myker led the conversation away from the topic of the war, Judy let out a long, deep sigh. It wasn't necessarily relief, but more so her way of holding back the intense emotions associated with the war, and the long spiels she could muster at times to articulate these. "We got them about... 5, 6 years ago," she answered. "Have you had the chance to see Kerelia?" Max then asked, another sudden change in topic.

[ Myker Vulbrix - Park] Myker noted the sigh but didn’t comment. It was weighty as if she had much to say but didn’t...or couldn’t. The war probably played on her mind as often as it did his. Despite whatever victories were achieved one doesn’t just walk away from war. War continues long after the battles are done. Myker nodded about the dogs, he didn’t say anything more. Not sure what to say, despite not seeming that way he was grateful for yet another subject change. “I have yet to visit Kerelia. Although I have been meaning to.” The Betazoid replied, his hands finding his pockets, “Have you?” He asked, curious but also sure that the Captain and her Husband had likely been given the station was in its orbit. Myk just had found himself there yet, spending more time on the Mac than the station. Judith Eastman

[Capt. Judith Eastman(-Williams), PhD & Max Williams - Park]"We keep an apartment there, for weekends when my work doesn't get in the way," Judy answered, smiling. "We love the outdoors, so it's a perfect getaway from the daily grind."Max nodded. "We can show you around sometime."The offer was sincere, earnest, and very much something the man was doing for his wife.

[ Myker Vulbrix - Park] Myker looked at the Captain when she spoke, her smile seemed to lift the melancholy that had settled. It was also testimony that the Captain enjoyed Kerelia for those weekends. “I’ve heard it makes a great getaway, maybe some time planet side would be a good idea.” Myker noted, although he knew the second his feet hit the solid ground, he’d be ready to back amongst the stars. Myker then looked at Max and nodded, “That sounds like a good idea. I would get hopelessly lost otherwise.” The sincere offer was met with just as much sincerity from the Betazoid. Having someone show him around places was always smart, and he did tend to get lost. He was in communication, not navigation. Judith Eastman

[Capt. Judith Eastman(-Williams), PhD & Max Williams - Park]"We'll be in touch," Max replied. "We have to check Judy's schedule."Judy, as if on cue, glanced down at her wristwatch. "Speaking of which, we need to go. I have a busy, busy day ahead, as usual." Some time later[Capt. Judith Eastman(-Williams), PhD & Max Williams - Transporter Hub, LZ-2 Colony, Kerelia]Judy and Max waited outside the transporter hub, where they'd invited Myker to meet them. It was a pleasant day in this part of the planet, warm but not sweltering, perfect for a walk around the slowly growing town. Judy donned a floral-patterned red sundress, while Max paired khaki shorts with a red polo shirt. They both wore sandals, as well as matching straw hats, and both smelled vaguely of sunscreen.

[ Myker Vulbrix - Transporter Hub, LZ-2 Colony, Kerelia] Myker had been looking forward to meeting the couple again, while also getting a chance to see Kerelia, something he’d been meaning to do for sometime but hadn’t found a reason to or the time for a simple trip. He also found the couple to be pleasant company, something that can’t be said of many people the man encountered. Myker hadn’t given much thought to the climate when he’d dressed, his outfit being much the same as he’d worn the first time he’d met the couple. Only they black shirt was replaced with a maroon T-shirt, he was wearing black cargo style boots preferring them to most other options. Myk had spotted the couple fairly quickly and gave them a small wave before heading in their direction. He'd yet to work out exactly what to say, the second interaction was supposed to be easier but apparently that wasn't the truth. He hadn't yet managed to convince his mind that overly formal may not be necessary, so his greeting to the couple remained somewhat that way. "Mr and Mrs Eastman, nice to see you again." his word genuine and the surename an assumption. The Betazoid, true to form, had a rigid posture making his discomfort more known than the relaxed features of his face. He wasn't the best with people but he was working hard to get there. "I see you're two souls down, I trust your canines are well." Myker shifted for a moment mentioning the dogs.

[Capt. Judith Eastman(-Williams), PhD & Max Williams - LZ-2 Colony, Kerelia]These particular mistakes on titles, both of them, were quite common, so the couple took them well. "Max's last name is Williams; Eastman is my maiden name," Judy clarified. "And Judy has a doctoral degree, though I've never managed to read her thesis in one go," Max added, couching his correction in humor at Judy's expense. "First names are fine, anyway.""Our daughter is watching the dogs. They prefer very short walks, those two."

[ Myker Vulbrix - Transporter Hub, LZ-2 Colony, Kerelia] Myker nodded when Judy clarified, grateful for the correction. Of course it made sense to him now, since oftentimes people resorted to their maiden names to be identified and each person had their own reason for it. ”Good to know.” He noted before Max spoke. Although the humor was clear in the man’s voice it simply received a somewhat puzzled look in response, a look that lasted all of three seconds before disappearing. He did nod about first names though, ”Okay, Max and Judy...or is it Judy and Max?” the slight change in tone indicative of some humor. About the dogs the Betazoid offered a hint of a smile, usually uncomfortable around dogs he found the presence of those two would be missed, at least briefly. ”I guess I would too if my legs were that small.” he noted about preferring shorter walks, which made sense. Myker took a moment to look around him, just to take in some of Kerelia from where he stood by the couple. Judith Eastman and Max
