[NPC - L'Vysh'ta - Beach, LZ-2, Kerelia] While L'Vysh'ta saw no practical need to engage these humans in their little Q&A exchange, L'Sho had. The Talorian soldier knew better than to question his wisdom. There had to be some sort of tactical advantage to this exchange of information. Obviously, knowledge itself was power, but this petty banter of the humans wouldn't win any wars in her opinion. It didn't take long before L'Sho gestured for L'Vysh'ta to examine the baked goods they were offering. Lifting one of the treats into her hand, L'Vysh'ta first examined it. She gave it a slight squeeze and even held it up to ensure that she examined every angle of it. Finally, she crushed it in her hand, grinding it into her palm and portions of her fingers. Finally, she opened her hand to examined what remained. There didn't seem to be much other than a mushed mess. She lifted her hand just below her face. First, she inhaled. There didn't seem to be any immediate side effects from the aroma. She then stuck her tongue out to lick a bit of the different textures of the baked good. Once she was satisfied, she turned towards L'Sho and gave a nod. "It is sufficiently edible, Kam'Do," she finally announced. She proceeded to wipe the remainder of the treat from her hand still watching L'Sho and the humans that would likely serve the ambassador one of those treats.

[Ambassador L'Sho, former Primary of Talor, former Supreme Commander of the Talorian Armada - Beach, LZ-2, KereliaL'Sho did not need to watch his ha'la closely as she performed her duty. A precursory check to ensure she had at least tasted the pastry in question was enough; he might not have handpicked her himself, but he was aware of L'Vysh'ta's own personal standards, and knew she would perform adequately in this situation. He nodded his acknowledgement when she declared it satisfactory. Humans did not seem to have any set traditions that they all shared. It made learning about them to any level of completion extremely difficult, and their presence in his life had been frustrating to say the least, amongst other things. "This Jewish culture you speak of - it is based on religion?" He asked, recalling that the species had hundreds, if not thousands of religions, and cultural traditions built around the most bizarre things. That all of the same people could not come to a decision on something as simple as what gods to honour certainly lined up with his view of them. The Ambassador held out his hand and waited to be served the offering. "Many of our own traditions are based on forms of worship."There, they were relating to each other.

[Capt. Judith Eastman(-Williams), PhD & Anna E. Williams - Beach, LZ-2]Judy watched the bodyguard's actions with horror, eyes popping and jaw falling slack, as her handiwork was so brutally mishandled. She wasn't going to claim her pastries were perfect (that adjective was reserved for her husband's cooking), but they still deserved better than to be crushed into a paste. At least they passed the toxicity test. Anna, far less attached to the integrity of baked goods than her mother, was better positioned to seize on the change in the flow of conversation. "It is. Most of Earth's cultures are based on a religion, and so were most of our wars," the young woman explained. Judy, sufficiently recovered from the horrors witnessed earlier, handed the Ambassador a pastry, and then added some... less edgy thoughts. "Judaism as a religion places a strong emphasis on a culture of robust intellectual debate, which is either resolved through discussion - argument - or more often not resolved at all."Judy imagined this was a stark contrast to Talorian culture.

[NPC - L'Vysh'ta - Beach, LZ-2, Kerelia] L'Vysh'ta stood there, listening as the humans spoke of the cultures of their world. In the ha'la's opinion, it was a rather asinine topic to broach. Humans clung to their diversity. It was an enigma that they had actually managed to evolve and progress as far as they had. Perhaps it had more to do with luck than actual ingenuity. Most other worlds were far more sophisticated and had managed to consolidate their beliefs and cultures. Earth was nothing more than an amalgam of misfit puzzle pieces. The Eastman woman spoke about one of the prominent religions on her world. L'Vysh'ta wondered if this was an attempt to compare something of their world to Talor's prime. It wasn't her place to be bothered with such affairs. Instead, she contemplated with of the 206 bones in the human body caused the most pain when broken. Something as large as their femur, or small and seemingly insignificant as their tailbone? Ribs were among the easiest to break: exposed and could compromise their breathing. Yet, the clavicle could prove quite debilitating to an opponent as well.

[Ambassador L'Sho, former Primary of Talor, former Supreme Commander of the Talorian Armada - Beach, LZ-2]L'Sho could see why they'd had so many wars, considering they had so many religions and conflicting beliefs. It was not natural to be so divided. The right order of things was those with the strongest convictions, with the righteous intent, should exterminate dissent and unify the people. Historically, humanity did not appear to be a species that could accept so much divergence from a set standard. Their seemingly unending and unnecessary rules and thousands of addendums to same spoke to the futility of their goal. Nevertheless, their cakes were nice. "I am enjoying this rugelach," he announced having swallowed his first bite, recreating the pronunciation of the pastry perfectly. Religion and its interpretations were personal to many; that itself was something that the Ambassador understood, and perhaps it might be a universal truth. Their priests on Talor presented interpretations to them as though there were no other way of viewing them, yet many, like L'Sho himself, took his own meanings from the texts. He wondered if Judith Eastman was assigning her own meaning to her religion, as worship based around discussion did not make any sense. "You have Gods of Debate and Argument?" He was intrigued. "The closest we have to that is T'Kra, who was slain by the great warrior Krek'ta, for talking too much."

[Capt. Judith Eastman(-Williams), PhD & Anna E. Williams - Beach, LZ-2]The praise for her pastries drew a smile from Judy. At least that much was universal. "No, we only have one God, who's the god of everything," Judy clarified. "He's believed to encourage scholarly debate among his followers, from the ancient sages down to teenagers.""Nowadays, religious law isn't a big part of most people's lives, but we still use the same way of thinking," Anna added. "Several members of our family are judges, where they really use that kind of approach."Anna wasn't inclined to follow this path, but she had the deepest respect for her great-grandmother, Estelle.

[NPC - L'Vysh'ta - Beach, LZ-2, Kerelia] The Talorian's ears perked at the mention of Kret'ka and how the great warrior slew T'Kra. Every Talorian revered the tale, and how it clearly delivered the lesson that there was a time to debate and a time for decision. Of course, the simplest of lessons seemed to go right over these humans' heads. Or perhaps it was their arrogance. So arrogant that they would suggest their monotheistic views would hint at some level of superiority. "'Thou shalt have no other gods before Me,' " L'Vysh'ta recited. The hotel suite she had spent an evening in while her permanent quarters were being settled contained one of the humans' religious texts. She could recall the first rule their deity had seemingly given them. "It does not sound like He encourages any sort of debate among his followers." Of course, L'Vysh'ta knew that it was not her place to engage in dialogue without the ambassadors invitation. Though the arrogance of these humans irritated her to the point that she'd forgotten her place was to be unheard. Apologies weren't popular among her people, but she did lower her head slightly in embarrassment. She could only hope that L'Sho would spare her the admonishment she deserved before the audience of these humans.

[Ambassador L'Sho, former Primary of Talor, former Supreme Commander of the Talorian Armada - Beach, LZ-2]He was not sure how it could be possible, but these humans managed to surprise him yet again. He'd known they were arrogant of course, everyone knew these things, but now it seemed as though these Eastman people were comparing themselves to gods. Not just any gods though, their god - singular, the one that was apparently the god of everything and demanded to be the only one they worshipped. What this god did with his followers, the Eastman judges apparently did with theirs. It was, quite frankly, beyond L'Sho's comprehension at this stage. When L'Vysh'ta spoke, he remained expressionless, though he did turn to regard her as she breached protocol to make her point. He was not angry, in fact he would welcome input that would challenge the humans. Particularly if it was constructed well. "My ha'la makes a reasonable argument," he said, his brow arching ever so slightly as he looked at his bodyguard for a quick moment, before returning his glowing gaze to the humans. "If your god insists on being the only god you are allowed to worship, how at the same time can he encourage debate of same? This is a fallacy, is it not?"He brushed some crumbs and remnants of pastry from his hands. The more he'd eaten of the rugelach, the more he'd liked it. "I would have another," he stated, holding out his hand once more.

[Capt. Judith Eastman(-Williams), PhD & Anna E. Williams - Beach, LZ-2]"Any debate has to have a defined framework, axioms and bounds that are accepted as true. Otherwise, there's nothing to build an argument on," Judy explained as she handed over another pastry. "Within the Jewish religious framework, the acceptance of the singular god is one of those axioms."Anna felt the inevitable need to add a wrinkle to this argument. "Almost no one still believes in that. Nowadays, we believe that our ancestors invented gods as a way to give more authority to things they thought were good ideas, and to explain things they didn't understand," the teenager pointed out. "Anna is correct."That would surely open up a brand new set of questions, but at least they were discoursing.

[NPC - L'Vysh'ta - Beach, LZ-2, Kerelia] Her admonishment had been a silent one from L'Sho, reminding her of her place. She knew that she should not have spoken out of turn. And while he had made as much clear with a simple look in her direction, he did agree with her pointing out the contradiction in the humans' logic. It seemed to be a flaw that they should accept, but their words that followed were even more disgraceful. L'Vysh'ta wasn't even certain that L'Sho would sit for this any longer, regardless of how tasteful he had found their pastries. The insult was a profound one in L'Vysh'ta's opinion. The young child had been brash in her declarations, pointing out that her human ancestors had fabricated the existence of their gods to explain their ignorance. The Talorian soldier's eyes widened at this atrocity. She had no respect for the singular god of her own people. If that were the case, how could she possibly have any respect for the gods of any other culture... including the Talorian gods. Had the brat been a Talorian... well, she would not have spoken such blasphemy. Yet, if she had even dared to whisper such a half-truth, her tongue would have been removed to keep her from saying such a thing again. She'd be allowed to live the rest of her life as a mute, silently showing thanks to the gods as she begged for their forgiveness through works for the rest of her days. L'Vysh'ta looked between the humans and L'Sho. "Kam'Do?" she asked... curious what to do. It was hardly tolerated among their own people to keep company with savages such as these humans. It was just further evidence of how uncivilized humans could be.

[Ambassador L'Sho, former Primary of Talor, former Supreme Commander of the Talorian Armada - Beach, LZ-2]L'Sho chewed his next pastry, enjoying the filling. He enjoyed the topic of conversation less, but perhaps he was less disturbed than his ha'la, who he could sense was awaiting or anticipating an order of violence from the Ambassador. What the humans were saying made very little sense to him, but he did not feel personally offended. Their worship was their business; though it did provide more insight into the strange workings of their minds. "Your people are contradictory."He had learned not to accept what one, or in this case two, humans said as representative of their entire species. While he may represent the interests of the Talorians, and while they shared common goals and love for their way of life, there were differences between them all. Scientists were different to warriors, old different to young. He would think upon what he had learned further, but for now, he'd had his fill - literally. "I thank you for your rugelach. We will now return to the activities we were engaged in before your interruption."He turned and with a small, subtle signal of his fingers - minus one, he signalled for L'Vysht'ta to follow.

There was no mistaking the bodyguard's tone - she didn't care much for what the two humans had just said, and/or for the humans themselves. And so, when the Ambassador excused himself, it was almost a relief.
"Enjoy the water, Ambassador," Judy said by way of parting, as she took up her things.
Then, she left, with Anna in tow.
"Well, that..." Anna started to judge the situation, only to be shushed by her mother. "Let's talk about it when we get home."
Judy was quite sure the next sentence out of Anna's mouth would include the phrase "war criminal", so she fully intended to be out of Talorian earshot before it was uttered.
Exit the humans

[NPC - L'Vysh'ta - Beach, LZ-2, Kerelia] Relief was a sentiment that one could argue that L'Vysh'ta felt when L'Sho opted to finally take his leave from those humans. She was only relieved because she was confident that the humans had tried her patience. She was well-disciplined, but hearing the insults she had heard had truly tried her patience. As the signal came for them to leave, L'Vysh'ta was all too happy to oblige. As she moved away with L'Sho, it was the first time she had concerns about L'Sho succeeding at his task. Not because of any failing of himself, but these humans. "Kam'Do, if I may," she began, "I must applaud your virtue and your patience. A lesser man would have let their blood quench the sand's thirst."

[Ambassador L'Sho, former Primary of Talor, former Supreme Commander of the Talorian Armada - Beach, LZ-2]"It was acting like a lesser man that has me in this predicament, ha'la," he responded after a moment. He walked with a practiced ease over the sand, returning to the spot they had occupied previously. Once a sufficient distance away from the humans, he turned to look back out over the water. "For now, if I mean to stay alive I must play this game, this battle that will be fought with words as opposed to the weapons in our hands." By staying alive, he meant both physically and politically, as for L'Sho, they were one and the same.

[NPC - L'Vysh'ta - Beach, LZ-2, Kerelia] As L'Sho spoke, L'Vysh'ta was reminded of how keen a strategist L'Sho truly was. No blood spilled or word spoken was ever without purpose. Clearly, he had already charted his victory over these humans, as well as his enemies back on Talor Prime. Those that expected to see him fail would be sorely disappointed. This was just another testament to his unrivaled reputation. The man that may some day claim her as his own. "As you deem, Kam'Do... so it is."
