Please write a brief answer to 3 of the following (a sentence or two for each is fine):
Your character's most painful experience
A few years back when working on a different freighter, Alex was caught up in an explosion of an EPS conduit because the Engineers refused to take care of the ship, citing it being more efficient for corporate to scrap the ship versus overhaul it. It was only because of knowing how to form basic medical tools out of scraps that he was able to survive, however he eventually did fully recover.
Your character's best or favorite experience
Alex really does enjoy time with family, and time in space. Born and raised in space, he was raised in an environment of close family and crew being the only people he saw often. Many memories he has includes jobs way out on the edge of Federation space. More recently, experiences coming out of the Dominion war where he helped civilians escaping the conflict helped give him purpose, and an environment he thrived in regardless of the fact that he was still in the middle of training.
Your character's most crucial experience
Technology breaks, and the old methods still work. The more complex a machine, the more things that can go wrong. Field medicine and first aid without tools are invaluable skills.
Who is your character's role model and why?
Alex is fond of many historical figures, as well as some figures that barely qualify as people. If it has to do with historical medical procedures, famous doctors of old, or people who just went up against the establishment, he's likely to be fond of them. Even artificial people, such as the EMH Mk 1, are models.
Please write a brief sample post from your character’s perspective:
"Shears", Alex called, looking down at the charred shirt of the figure on the table in front of him. A crewman standing by held them out to Alex, before conspicuously making his own departure. "Good," he thought, "Less people to watch over". The unlucky crewman in front of him had done what Alex thought was incredibly stupid - First, not checking the cargo bay after the power failed, and second, deciding to climb up to the EPS conduit housed four meters above the floor. What had he expected? Not to find a short that when opened exploded and sent him hurtling backwards and down? Engineers could be so stupid sometimes.
Regardless, it wasn't his place to judge how they were injured, just make sure they were. The bio-monitor was operating normally, however, and was able to tell him key information. Blood pressure, blood type, heart rate, and blood oxygenation, as well as the normals marked on the bed for this particular species, Human. As he injected a painkiller via hypospray, the man in front of him finally stopped trying to thrash about. "There we are, quit yer bellyachin'", he said, as he prepared to take care of the burns with a dermal regenerator. The man would be back on his feet in a few days, but until then, it meant periodic check-ins with the idiot in front of him.
He tossed the expended hypo on a tray with a metallic clank, as he leaned against a wall "Maybe you'll learn something, eh?" he said aloud, the only response a groaning from the figure on the bed, drifting off to drug-assisted sleep.
