[Admiral Antoinette Ellis - Matthew Harmon's Quarters, Front Ear Station]Approximately five days following the events of S2 - E8/M8One of the best tools in any Intelligence Officer's arsenal was the element of surprise. She had already been on the Station for several hours, so even if her visit came as a shock to the Caldonia 5 initially, chances were that one had already informed the others of not just her presence, but her intention. Thus, for the former department head of the Intelligence Department on Front Ear, the Admiral would have to get a little more creative. She sat in the dark in Matthew Harmon's living quarters. She had been there for approximately twenty minutes, but Antoinette Ellis was never bored. In her estimation, only those with empty heads got bored, and hers was filled to the brim. With one leg crossed over the other, she'd positioned herself comfortably, uniform as pristine as always, and waited for the light to shine upon her and illuminate her presence. When it did, and when the disgraced Lieutenant Commander entered his living space, she greeted him. "Good evening, Mr. Harmon."

When it did, and when the disgraced Lieutenant Commander entered his living space, she greeted him. "Good evening, Mr. Harmon." [Matthew Harmon - Personal Quarters]Shavan had alerted Matt about the presence of Admiral Ellis apparently meeting with the Caldonian Five, so he was fully expecting her to show up at some point. He'd met with Chloe after her shift to see if she knew anything about Ellis' presence, but unfortunately she either didn't know or wasn't willing to share.
It was fairly late by the time he got back, and as he turned the lights on he saw her sitting there in his quarters. "Typically I wait until they've bought me dinner before I let strange women into my quarters," he said unfazed by her intrusive presence. He walked over to his kitchen ignoring her and made himself a martini while he waited for her response.

[Admiral Antoinette Ellis - Harmon's Quarters]"Oh, come now Mr. Harmon, don't be coy," she purred, hands unfolding in her lap and then moving toward the armrests of the chair. Long fingers tapped against it as she watched the man go directly for his crutch: the bottle. "Word has it that you've been entertaining at least half a dozen eligible ladies." She had so enjoyed reading that article. She'd liked it so much, she'd added it to the file she kept on him. Of course, she didn't believe for a second that any of those ladies would have any interest in him. The Admiral's smile broadened, and the corners of her eyes tightened, her expression becoming cruel. "There's no need to pretend with the fortified wine, Commander. I won't judge you for taking your courage directly from the mouth of that bottle of gin."

[Matthew Harmon - Personal Quarters]"You know, its just occurred to me," he said as he shook his martini, "If you're here, who's guarding Hades?" The ghoulish woman had many similarities to Cerberus, particularly the features of a venomous snake. "It seems I overestimated you. I never figured you as one who so readily falls for the fictitious rantings of tabloid rags." He ignored he comment about gin as he finished making the martini and took a long drink from his glass. He didn't really feel in a gin mood, there was nothing else to it. "You're welcome to my gin if you want, ma'am," he said sarcastically, the disdain in the word 'ma'am' clear.

[Admiral Antoinette Ellis - Harmon's Quarters]Being compared to the dog and not the master awakened a frisson of irritation within her. While Antoinette Ellis believed herself to be the organ-grinder, she did not take well to the level of disrespect this disgraced Operative was showing her. But there would be no reason to give Harmon the impression that he could win this game; at least, not yet. "We all have our vices, Mr. Harmon," she responded smoothly to his jibe about tabloid journalism, "Mine is reading gossip." Truthfully, it was part of her job. If he didn't realise that, then he was worse at his than she suspected. "Yours is apparently drinking yourself into an early grave, and alienating everyone else in the process."She smiled again. "I'll pass on the offer of a drink, thank you. But I will take your resignation instead."

[Matthew Harmon - Personal Quarters] For a brief second he saw a flash of irritation on her face as he compared her to the guard dog. He wasn’t going to flatter her with comparisons of Hades himself, of course. The Admiral didn’t need more to stoke her ego. He smirked at her, hoping to provoke her more. Her jabs didn’t faze him, as he walked over towards her and sat down comfortably opposite her, taking a sip as he listened to her demands. “I’m disappointed, really. I’ve again underestimated you it seems,” he said shaking his head in disappointment. “I thought you’d have something more interesting in store for me.” He wasn’t expecting anything in particular, but certainly not such a futile and unnecessary request. She could have him fired though proper channels if she was willing to go that route. “I don’t quite feel the urge to resign, unfortunately,” he took another sip casually. “You could sack me of course. You’re a powerful admiral, I’m an insubordinate Lieutenant Commander. You’ve got your justification to Command. Could certainly court martial me too. You know that though. You also know how much of a mistake that would be. It’d be rather messy once it hits those rags you enjoy reading. ‘Officer stands up for sentient rights, court martialed by Admiralty.’” He gestured in the air as spelled out a possible headline. “Could just quietly get rid of me, I suppose. But that would be another misstep. You seem to have overestimated the extent to which I’ve alienated people,” Charlie might not be talking to him at the moment but she would certainly go sniffing. He figured the Captain would push back too, Chloe and Mabel in tow no doubt. “So you’ll have to try better than begging if you want me gone,” he stared at her. Tag: Felicity Ellis

[Admiral Antoinette Ellis - Harmon's Quarters]The problem with most men was that they couldn't hold their piss. They might have a nice hand, but in their haste to assert dominance, they often showed all of their cards in the first round of bets. Antoinette sat, patiently waiting, looking as though she was engaged and listening as Matthew Harmon spoke. When he finished, she even smiled again. She mirrored his previous gesture in the air, adding her own headline. "'Disgraced Officer, responsible for the imprisonment and torture of four innocent Federation citizens, succumbs to guilt and takes own life.'"Long fingers tapped the armrest again. "Compelling. Tragic. Utterly believable." With all his inane chatter about over and underestimating, he seemed to conveniently forget his own precarious position. He also seemed to forget who it was he was talking to. "You don't know me, Mr. Harmon, but you will no doubt discover that I play a different sort of game to the one you've grown accustomed to. Begging does not feature for me, but it may for you."Admiral Ellis waited to see if the man was going to play ball. If not, she was going to enjoy ruining his life. Perhaps she'd do that anyway.

[Matthew Harmon - Personal Quarters]It seemed now that he was staring to get under Ellis' skin. It was fun, he got some sort of macabre enjoyment from this conversation, despite the venomous nature of the discussion. It was cathartic. "So tragic," he said tilting his head to the side and shaking it with fake sadness. "Of course, that counts as quietly getting rid of me," in fact his comment about disappearing him quietly was very much based on his assumption that murder wasn't beyond this woman. "And as I said, there's at least a couple of people who'd go digging a bit too much into that. Unhealthy on their part, certainly, but if I'm dead I can't well deter them for investigating. Could knock them off too, I suppose, but then the bodies start piling up high and it gets a bit too messy." She was going to have to get more creative than that if she wanted to get rid of him. He tapped his finger onto his mouth in overexaggerated contemplation. "I wonder what the headline would read if a tragedy were to befall you?" he raised his eyebrow as he asked the question. "I suspect a loathsome bitch you like you would have few weeping at your passing," he said flippantly. It wasn't a creative insult, but the unapologetic disrespect and flippancy was sure to irritate the woman further.

[Admiral Antoinette Ellis - Harmon's Quarters]Antoinette Ellis was not used to such crass language; not when it was directed straight at her. She'd often considered such styles of argument as lacking intelligence and finesse, but she was learning quickly that they could be quite effective if implemented properly. There was no escaping it - she had been wrong in her initial assessment of him, and her strategy was all off. But one did not get to the Admiral's level and not learn how to change the game. If he was uncaring as to what she might do to him, perhaps figuratively crossing off these little "helper" friends of his might prove more effective. "Your mouthy journalist friend has a lot of enemies; nobody would be surprised if she went missing. All your Lolita protégé would need is a nice promotion and transfer somewhere shiny and eventually all you'd become to her is an afterthought once a year on your anniversary. As for your Captain, well, if I have anything to do with it, she will be shortly removed from Command."She smirked; loathsome bitch, indeed. "I would ask if I've missed anyone, but I know I haven't."

It seemed that the Admiral wasn't used to such expletives being spoken directly to her face, just as Matt had expected. It was satisfying watching her get more and more irritating. What wasn't satisfying was the level she decided to take it to next. Silently, he got up and walked back into the kitchen where he got out another glass and poured some gin. "Captain Eastman will land on her feet," he said calmly. "Charlie is tough, you overestimate how easy it would be to get rid of her," the comment about Chloe was not deserving of a response. He walked towards her, glass of gin in hand and stood over her for a second, staring icily at her. He then tossed the drink into her face, smiled, and calmly put the glass down on the table next to her. Then, he walked back to his chair and sat down again, taking another drink from his martini. "It would be a mistake to hurt any of them. If you did, I'd have nothing to hold me back from seeking revenge. I'm sure you're not scared. Good, it will make it easier to destroy you. Maybe your shuttle will have a tragic accident, or the bribes you took from the Tal Shiar," the last one wasn't true, at least not as far he knew, but he had the contacts and resources to have a good chance of successfully framing her if that was the game she wanted to play.

[Admiral Antoinette Ellis - Harmon's Quarters]Antoinette Ellis flinched. Well, of course she did, she was being assaulted. The alcohol stung her eyes and she blinked rapidly in attempt to clear them. Her tongue swiped over her lips and the cool burn of the gin was a familiar, but this time unpleasant sensation. "Cheap," she said of the alcohol, "Just like you."It was rather a pathetic display from someone who had no control over the situation, someone who obviously felt as though the only way they could dominate was to physically attack, to diminish the agency of their opponent. Antoinette had met many individuals like this on her way up the ladder, and she had squashed every single one of them beneath her boot. She had overestimated him, his position and his ability. "Good evening, Mr. Harmon." She pulled a small device from her pocket, tapped it and she disappeared in a glittering transport beam leaving behind only an impression of a very icy glare.
