Sometime after the Minisodes, before the November Mission/Event
[Capt. Judith Eastman(-Williams), PhD - Captain Eastman's Office]
The holorecorder took Judy in. Her pristine uniform, tailored to her slender form. Her elongated nose, supporting her thick glasses. Her blonde hair, and her fair, slightly wrinkled complexion. The bookshelves behind her, and the wooden desk in front of her.
"Members of the crew and the Front Ear community, my friends,"
"However, in addition to serving as your Captain, I am also a wife, a mother, and a grandmother. I have always tried to be mindful of the balance between my career and my family, to fulfill the duties I take on while being present for my loved ones. The nature of this job, with long hours and great dangers, makes that balance difficult to attain, and requires a sacrifice not just from me, but from my family. It is for this reason, for the sake of my nearest and dearest, that I will be stepping down as Captain at noon on November 20th. I do this knowing that I leave you in the hands of an excellent command team, one of the very best that I've seen."
"As for me, I'll be assuming a new position as the Regional Director of activities for the Ministry of Economics. In that role, I'll be based on the station, so I'll still be around."
"Thank you all."

"When I was offered the position of Captain here, almost one year ago, I accepted it without hesitation. I saw the need for a steady hand at the tiller, and felt that I could serve this community by being that hand. I'll admit that the ride has not been as steady as I had hoped, but I am proud of all that we have achieved together. It was an honor and a pleasure to serve you all."

"I want to thank all of you, Starfleet and civilian alike. You make this station what it is, and the potential for growth of this community is within each and every one of you: your courage, your spirit of adventure, your dedication to your work. I'd like to thank Captain Baker and Commander Ellis in particular: you are two of the greatest officers, and the best people, that I know; I have the greatest confidence in the both of you, and more than that, I love you."
"Most of all, I'd like to thank my husband, Max. Honey, you are my rock and the love of my life; all the things that I value most, in my life, I have you to thank for."
"Thank you all."
As the recording stopped, Judy wiped a single tear from her cheek. She had touched on oh so many clichés, and still she only gave one-half of her reason for retiring, but she felt she owed the station this heads-up and explanation.
The announcement would be sent as a message to the crew, and to civilians who had opted into receiving periodic updates from command.
