Personal History
Early Life/Pre-Starfleet Career:
Born on Romulus in 2343, Hathos was only a couple years old when they left, too young to remember his home, their culture or why. Instead, the boy’s earliest memories were of spacecraft, followed by Earth itself. Once there his family settled in London, with protective measures that Hathos would not realise was irregular till he was nearing his teenage years. Once they decided he was old enough, his parents sat down the young Roman and explained to him the truth behind their exit from Romulus and the Star Empire. Saren, his father, had served for many years as an agent of the Empire, one of the Til Shiar, but not before the birth of his son he learned he had contracted an illness which would one day claim his life. Though not contagious, it began to make him ponder his mortality and he life he was leaving behind for his son, and the legacy he as a father would be remembered by. Though respected by his peers and family, he grew resentful and could not continue his work under their organisation any longer. It took caution and several years, but they managed to plan their escape from Imperial space and negotiate safe haven with the Federation. Though it would not be till after the Dominion war his father passed from his illness, Hathos never saw his father return to work once they had reached their new home.
Hathos grew up as normally as he could on earth, often claiming to be Vulcan to sidestep the judgements of humans who couldn’t tell the difference. He managed to go through his education with relative ease, getting a place at a University in England where he eventually graduated with enough qualifications to begin work as a civilian surgeon. However despite this he decided to instead apply for work as an emergency first responder, operating throughout London for several years to gain experience and help as any people as possible before deciding he would apply for a job as a Surgeon, a job he got. This job he kept up until the outbreak of the Dominion war.
Hathos was thirty years old when open conflict erupted, and though his family left the Roman Star Empire many years prior, word reached them of the Til Shiar’s almost complete destruction, a notion which frightened them into realising how dire this threat truly was. For the next two years of the War Hathos moved to America, volunteering his services as an experienced medical practitioner for the growingly filled medical institutions of Starfleet personnel who had been evacuated from the front lines. The war ended in 2375, and in 2376 he applied for Starfleet. Hoping he might continue to serve with his expertise while seeing the stars beyond Earth, and proving to himself he was a valuable member of the federation despite his heritage being with who many considered to be an enemy.
Academy/Technical Academy (if Starfleet):
Due to the citizenship granted to Hathos and his mother from his father’s work, he was eligible for application to Starfleet Academy, though he decided to make the move later in life than many of those on his courses. After succeeding with high scores on his Entrance exam, he was conflicted between security and medical for his future route in Starfleet. Though a respect and desire to follow in his father’s work made him wish to join security, it was his own interests and skills which worn the debate and lead to him following through with his medical training. Graduating starfleet Academy at the age of 37 with majors in Xenobiology along with his previous qualifications and experience as a Surgeon, physician and field medic.

The space between both rooms was pretty lifeless for those few hours, no foot traffic of any kind going in or out. But that didn’t live it completely empty, not when it had a singular figure sat at a chair off near the door to the left hand room. His legs crossed, one hand holding a PADD horizontally while the other gently tapped a finger against the site of a cup, the hot drink within steaming up as he waited for it to be perfect for drinking. The majority of his focus however was on the PADD, his deep brown eyes scanning the text that appeared, already familiar with the text but not having returned to it’s contents since just before he left the academy. It was a play script, adapted from some novel back before humans had left their own atmosphere, but the story was still an interesting one.
His peace however was soon to be interrupted, the doors across from him sliding open, not a distressing noise but enough to make him aware he was no longer alone. The Romulan lowered the paid as he looked up, only now realising how dar the majority of the quarters were if not for the screen of his PADD, a couple dimmed lights around the walls and the glow of the stars from his display window. The one who greeted him was dressed identical to him, their uniforms marking them out as members of the station’s sciences division, though where Hathos was in medical, his somewhat friend was instead in what he would jokingly refer to as the real sciences. “I take it i am needed?” He asked with an exaggerated sigh, smiling softly as his friend nodded. He turned off the screen of he PADD as he placed it down on his coffee table, looking at the still hot cup of tea as he decided he best make haste just incase. He stood up, straightening his jacket and approaching the doorway as he looked at the other Starfleet Ensign and shook his head. “You can make me another once we’re off.”
