Personal History
Early Life/Pre-Starfleet Career:
Born on a freighter in space, Jakob Anthony Knight did not have what could be called a normal, or boring childhood. Sure at times, during a long distance haul, it could get a bit tedious, but things were always in motion, always moving. Jak was a being constantly moving, thinking, doing something. His parents, his mother Sylvia in particular, did their best to divert this energy into learning, and he excelled at it, so long as it caught his interest. The only classes he did not excel at were subjects that failed to challenge him. When he was bored, Jak tended to act out.
When Jak felt he’d learned all he could while living on La Celestina, applying to Starfleet Academy seemed the next logical move. It took some doing, but by the time he reached 17, he was in San Francisco and enrolled.

Bad Habits or Vices: Too many naps, can come across as condescending unintentionally, needs to have a second raktajino in the mornings before he can human.
Achievements (personal or professional): Graduating near the top of his class from Starfleet Medical Academy. (Salutatorian)
Disappointments: Salutatorian because he missed one question on the final.
Illnesses: None

Please write a brief answer to 3 of the following (a sentence or two for each is fine):
Your character's most painful experience
At a very young age, he was deeply affected by the death of his grandfather from an inoperable brain cancer. By the time the cancer was found, it had metastasized in such a way that it had intertwined in his brain stem. He lived on a colony planet on the outskirts of the Alpha Quadrant and good medical care was hard to come by. Jak doesn’t like to talk about him, because the awful feeling of being helpless in the face of suffering still haunts him.
Your character's best or favorite experience
Jak’s favorite experience was when he figured out how to save his dog. It was still in his early years at Starfleet Medical Academy and the feeling of having saved the life of someone important to him has stayed with him. He realizes every life saved is important to someone.
Who is your character's role model and why?
His role model is Admiral Leonard ‘Bones’ McCoy. Following the death of his grandfather, he became more interested in medical studies. There were many books and biographies about the legendary Bones McCoy that caught his attention, and imagination.
Please write a brief sample post from your character’s perspective:
[Shuttlecraft Verdant]
Jak sat in the shuttlecraft, his leg bouncing of its own accord. He was excited for this next chapter in his life and was earnestly looking forward to this assignment. He couldn’t wait. The black lab seated at his master’s feet could sense he was happy, and echoed the sentiment with the constant thud of his tail against the craft’s floor.
"So, Doc, is this your first deep space assignment?" the chipper helmsman asked, her high ponytail whipped over her shoulder as she turned her head away from the console to look at her passenger.
"How could you tell?” he asked, tugging at his sleeves in an attempt to straighten them. "I guess it’s how cleanly pressed my uniform is, but hey gotta advance somehow, right?"
The pilot was very easy on the eyes, but her steady gaze made him a bit nervous. He had to remind himself not to make a fool of himself, though that could be easier said than done. He was eager and hoped to make a difference in this crazy galaxy, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t find a little fun on the side.
Do you have previous experience with a role-play forum?
It’s been a few years, but I did spend some time writing on SF.
What brought you to the Frontier?
The Discord Community, and my girlfriend who plays Caroline Riordan.
Is there anything else you’d like to tell us?
I would like to try the Down time based RP.
