[NPC - PO2 Dihiq, son of Kroka - Holodeck]Dihiq looked around him. He was at an... amusement park? It was full of people, and rides, and other things. And then there were his companions. One was a Tholian... a Tholian? The other a human woman. Dihiq couldn't help but wonder if the Tholian was a hologram. "Wh-what's a Tholian doing here?" he asked no one in particular (and therefore also the Tholian). Nervously, he cast his eyes about, looking for an escape route, and a bathroom, just in case. He currently was sweating, but wasn't sure if that was the fear, or the all-weather coat he was wearing.

Tag @lyricsinclair Volskene ATTENTION Felicity Ellis [ Lyric S. PO2, Holodeck] Lyric S remembered what a theme park was, or an amusement park was. She had visited them when she was young, before the Academy. As she looked around, she was surprised when her favorite smell of cotton candy and popcorn reached her nose. "Mhm...Do you smell that?" Lyric asked. "I'm Lyric Sinclair. It's a pleasure to meet you." She reached to extend her hand by way of greeting. "This isn't so bad. It's an amusement park. Lots of fun." She said.
Then she saw Volskene. A smile spread on her lips as she figured being friendly and nice was the way to go. "Hello, I'm Lyric Sinclair. I haven't met a Tholian before and it's nice meeting you, too." Lyric was eager to welcome her two companions with an equally friendly gesture. ..>66

[Volskene - Holodeck]
Volskene did not immediately perceive the dramatic shift in the holographic chamber's projection into the scene which spread itself out before his suited form. The Tholian's thoughtcolours quickly became roiling red and vibrant crimson as he realized that he had been deceived. This was not a lecture hall for him to give a presentation on subspace physics. He had even brought a data slate to prepare for the occasion. Volskene focused within himself to feel the Lattice as it resonated deep within his carapace; a quiver which anchored him to reality in times of strife.
This anchor was quite quickly interrupted as he recalled with whom he was now trapped with; those very same humanoids he thought were simply escorting him to the presentation. A Klingon and a human. His eye spots stared at each of the two in turn. Volskene did not bother to acknowledge the attempts to sway his attention. He simply stated, in the usual vocoded manner, "I have been lied to. This is not a subspace geometry conference."

[NPC - PO2 Dihiq, son of Kroka - Holodeck]Dihiq did not like what was unfolding. He was put off by the human's demeanor towards him and especially the Tholian, and doubly so by the latter. Confused by the odd gesture of the extended hand, Dihiq acknowledged it with a nod, before turning his attention to the Tholian. "I didn't... I don't know..." the diminutive Klingon stammered anxiously. "We can... please don't hurt me."Dihiq looked nervously at his feet, and then the surroundings. "Can we get out early?" he asked.

Tag Volskene @lyricsinclair [Lyric S. Holodeck] The smell of good fair food promised something that she would soon engage in. Eating. It wasn't just the music, the food, and the smells that promised fun. It was something that rekindled memories. She loved kettle corn, caramel corn, caramel apples, corn-dogs, funnel cakes, and some of the rides with the exception of the roller-coasters, Ferris Wheel, anything related with heights, and the 'crazy' rides that spun around and around, making you feel so dizzy you couldn't find your way off the ride without help. She didn't like heights whatsoever. Even the least dangerous ones made her pause. She was using the introductions of her name to take her mind off her real actual phobia. No one knew of her fear of heights and it was amazing how she managed to go into the Academy with that phobia. Although, she was acknowledged by a nod from the young Klingon, she couldn't help but think why he didn't introduce himself. " Have you ever tried Kettle Corn or a corn dog?" She asked innocently to the Klingon. "Oh. What is your name please? I don't think we can get out of this early." She double checked the program. "The only way to end this is to survive together and go on a roller-coaster." They couldn't cheat. "I don't think cheating would really work," She suggested helpfully. "Because if we do, won't the program run longer?" The last bit was more of a question than an answer. Lyric could only theorize what would happen if they did. As Lyric thought, she couldn't help but remember what message she received prior to the team building exercise, "Conference? I don't recall a message about a conference." Nonetheless, Lyric wondered if they were all told certain things to their interests. "A Geometry Conference?" She asked, slowly. "I was told that it would be team-building exercise."Lyric was left with a thought that 'they were going to have to build up a trust. "I- I guess we have to learn how to trust each other first before we accomplish anything," She suggested helpfully. "Despite our difference, shall we go explore the food vendors and get a bite to eat? I'm hungry for a corn-dog, which isn't made out of a dog. It's just-" She wondered how to explain the philosophy of a corn dog. "It's like a 'sausage' in a corn-bread roll. Then the lovely corn-bread roll is fried in oil, and it's best eaten with a mustard and ketchup combination mixed together. There's nothing like a corn-dog from the fair." She was bragging about sitting down to eat. "Maybe if we eat, we can talk about how to come out of this new team building exercise Captain Ellis insisted we take?" The captain had to have known what she was doing. "And then when this program is over, maybe we can go to Ten-Forward and have a drink or two?" She asked the final question directed to both of them. She rarely drank any alcohol. It always burned her throat and her stomach. She never got past that.

Carlton Grieg II
A little boy was passing by, slurping on an iced lolly that he held in one hand, and tugging along a shiny red balloon that was tied securely around his wrist. He eyeballed the trio of unlikely pals as he marched passed, and for a moment it looked as though he might just keep on scootin'. Curiosity won out though, for he stopped, leg in the air mid-stride, turned a smooth ninety degrees and continued to study them head-on. "Hello," he said politely. "My name is Carlton Gwieg II. This is called a Tangle Twister." He stopped slurping on the lolly for long enough to wave it at them. "I got this bawwoon for going on the Boomewang woller-coaster and not cwying."He stepped a little closer to the Tholian, who was of particular interest to the inquisitive boy. "You're funny-lookin'!" He observed.

[Volskene - Holodeck]
The Klingon (and he WAS a Klingon, judging by appearance) was unlike any that Volskene had heard about. Resonations passed down from the Lattice had given him the impression that Klingons were brutish, constantly warring, and none too intelligent. This Klingon appeared to be opposite in all but the latter. His apparent aversion was mutual, but Volskene was not a warrior castemember, and thus unable to inflict any significant harm. The Tholian's thoughtspace remained dulled with his negative colours.
The human, meanwhile, mentioned a "team-building exercise"? Volskene was typically solitary when aboard humanoid installations or on their worlds, so he was quickly losing interest in continuing the charade. He had to interrupt however, "Subspace geometry. This is not a juvenile nor rudimentary matter, and not everyone can grasp such complexity. And what is a 'roller coaster'? A novel technology of some sort?"
The more Volskene's eye spots panned across the vista, the greater his distate grew. The human's suggestion of sustenance certainly did not do much to aid in the situation, considering he could not partake of those incompatible organic byproducts anyway. Another human had halted near them in the moments Volskene had taken to ponder. As if this experience could not worsen any further, this child had commented unnecessarily from out of nowhere.

[NPC - PO2 Dihiq, son of Kroka - Holodeck]The human, Sinclair was her name? asked Dihiq some questions, but then kept right on talking, so Dihiq figured she didn't actually care to hear his answer. He wasn't going to force it - she was plenty scary for him, even if she was less scary than the Tholian. Then, the human child approached. For a moment, Dihiq forgot this was a holoprogram and that the kid wasn't real. "This Tholian is very dangerous," he warned, a little bit protective despite it all. "You should give him his space."Then, he looked between his two apparent colleagues, or more likely tormentors, and made a decision. "I need to use the bathroom!" he proclaimed, and headed off in the general direction of the men's room.

[Lyric S- Holodeck] Lyric figured she may have been too talkative to her two new companions. She was probably annoying the both of them when she spoke about certain foods. Of course, the first thought was always food was on her mind. "I'm sorry. My mouth's run away with me." She glanced down at her feet as she spoke her apology. She was so interested in showing her two new companions how much fun it was to be at an amusement park. Her musings were interrupted by a child. She didn't like the sound of the rollercoaster. But the only way to face her fear was to face it head on.
"You know...Maybe we should please work together on this team-building exercise?" She asked politely. The Tholian may have been dangerous, but here he was. "The sooner we work together, the more we can finish it. Let's just put aside all our differences."
She gave a look at the Tholian. "It's a machine with these cars on them. The cars are pulled by a 'chain' on a track. It goes slow at first, then it goes over a 'hill' and then after that hill, the cars ascend, making every one scream because it's supposed to be fast." She frowned. "And I have an irrational fear of heights." She finally admitted as she knew exactly how to face her fear. "We have to ride the rollercoaster as it is said and we have to survive each other." She reminded.

Carlton Grieg II
Carlton Grieg II was disappointed that the funny-looking alien in the suit wouldn't speak to him. He thought it wasn't very nice. All of the other people at Happy Land were happy, why couldn't these people be happy, too? Maybe that was Carlton Grieg II's job. He fell into step beside the klingon, resuming his march. "Is it a Number One or Number Two?" He asked with curiosity. "Would you like a lick of my Tangle Twister?" He brandished the lolly at Dihiq. "Why is the Tholian dangewous?"Then, when the lady started talking about roller-coasters, Carlton wondered how these people had never been on one before. "They are scawy sometimes, but lots of fun, and you're allowed scweam weally loudly, and sometimes a little pee comes out!" Volskene & Judith Eastman (Dihiq) & @lyricsinclair

[Volskene - Holodeck]
The snivelling Klingon had begun to rattle Volskene's carapace. Having had some experience with seeing how the holo-simulations operated, the Tholian wondered whether the safety protocols were functional. Perhaps he could "accidentally" shove the Klingon off of one of these "roller coasters"...
After dismissing the notion, he addressed the human's response to his query.
"A simple mechanical pulley and linked carriage system?..."
Volskene had seen more complicated devices not long after his emergence on Tholia. Any newly developed member of his kind could devise something more difficult. He stared at the indicated mechanisms, and others like the one before him, before noting several more observations.
"I observe numerous safety flaws with the 'roller coaster' you describe. It has no inertial dampening system, no shielding, and I do not believe it is adapted for my physiology."
He was certainly quite ready to dismiss the matter outright; it was starting to feel as though he were being held against his will.

[NPC - PO2 Dihiq, son of Kroka - Holodeck]Dihiq continued to look terrified as the conversation unfolded, even as he was heading away. "Kid, run! The Tholian wants to kill us!" he shouted at Carlton Grieg, as he himself accelerated to a sprint away. Dihiq was a short fellow, especially for his species, but he could run all right. If the others cared to chase him, they'd see him going past the bathrooms, and to a sand dune. Here, on top of the dune, Dihiq allowed himself to sit and take off his coat. He'd just wait this madness out - they had to release them eventually, right? And this surely was better than ending the program by relying on the safeties and making a suicide attempt.

Tag @lyricsinclair Felicity Ellis Volskene [Lyric S- Holodeck] Lyric answered the Tholian with a visible nod, "Yes." Lyric kind of admired the Tholians' observation. The roller coaster was a dangerous machine. She readily agreed with the Tholian's sentiments. It didn't even have anything to shield them from being launched off and meeting their untimely end. She didn't even know if the safeties were on. Chancing it wasn't a good thing either. "What if the safeties aren't on?" "I share your sentiments." She told the Tholian. "Could I ask how tall you are, if you don't mind, please?" But then all of a sudden, the Klingon was pestered by the child, asking if he was going number one or number two. She let out a little chuckle and then a realization came to her. "Why you little coward." She spoke of the Klingon. "Not you, Mr-" She didn't know the Tholian's name. None of them had really introduced themselves to her. "The Klingon is a coward!"
Without further ado, she ran after the Klingon who was afraid of the Tholian and her. "What kind of a Klingon runs away? I thought Klingons were made of stronger stuff." Maybe they weren't really all that strong or warrior-like. Lyric cursed a four letter word under her breath. The probability of failure did not sit well with her. She rarely ever thought of failing. Not even in Starfleet Academy. She found herself fuming and running after the Klingon. She was lithe and in good shape. She hoped that the Tholian would follow. Lyric couldn't believe that there was a dune here and she climbed it, often slipping on the dirt, and losing her traction, and getting some sand in her shoes. Gritting her teeth and the grit rubbing against her sock and shoe clad feet. "Wow!" She said, once she caught up to him and found herself grabbing his shirt. She was leaning down and pulled him forward. She was talking straight into his face. If he pushed her away, she would tumble and possibly injure herself. "You sure are a coward for a Klingon! I thought all Klingons were all warriors and are brave!" She was angry as well. "You are far from a warrior, running away from a Tholian, and a human female." She didn't like being rude either. But she did not want to fail. Not this test. "You want to fail this! Fine then! Go ahead and fail! But you know what they say at the Academy? If you fail your team building exercise, your whole team fails. The Commanding Officer coaches everyone on team work." She knew exactly what happens when a team failed. It was no walk in the woods. "You want to sit on this sandy dune like the coward you are, be my guest! But when this program ends, I'll spread the word around that you don't know how to work as a team-member." She wouldn't really spread the word, but he didn't know that. She wanted him to believe that she would. Lyric couldn't help but let out her frustration and anger get to her. She was eager to work as a team with the two of them. The program would end if she couldn't get them both to pull their weight or to work as a team. "Those who fail, never get anywhere in their lives. They just keep going down a downward spiral."

Carlton Grieg II
As soon as the klingon began to run, Carlton Grieg II automatically shot off after him - for two reasons. The first was that the Tholian was a fearsome beast, and young Carlton wouldn't at all be surprised to find that he wanted to eat him. The second was he was a child, and a precocious one at that. He spent a decent amount of time running away from things. The klingon was fast! By the time they reached the dunes Carlton was sweating a little, though he'd still somehow managed to keep a hold of his Tangle Twister iced-lolly. "You must be the fastest pewson in your class, mister!" He held out his lolly to Dihiq again, just in case he was thirsty after his run. But then the angry lady arrived and grabbed the klingon and started shouting in his face. "Wude!" He declared. His mother, Poppy Edith Horner-Grieg, always said that if you couldn't say anything nice, you should not say anything at all. These people weren't being very happy. Carlton Grieg II was feeling a little upset by all the shouting and angry words. His lip wobbled. "No cwoss words at Happy Land!"He began to march away, red balloon bouncing behind him.
