Personal History
Early Life/Pre-Starfleet Career: Elijah grew up in a beautiful home in Corona, California with two brothers he used to play baseball on the front lawn with, and parents that appeared to be all-loving – especially on family Christmas cards. From the outside, their family was perfect and Elijah didn’t have reason to be unhappy. But on the inside, life was difficult. Elijah bore the brunt of his Father’s anger more often than not, being the smallest as well as the youngest. He hid the abuse from everyone living outside of their home, and even in his adult life; he keeps his past to himself as it’s difficult to talk about. If anyone asks, they were an all American family.
Elijah was never sure of what he wanted to do with his life, convinced he wouldn’t live long enough to make real plans, and so he was thrilled when he was accepted into the Academy despite it being something his parents chose for him. Only when Elijah was in dorms, away from his family, did he start to truly experience the good things in life, learning to look after himself, defend himself, and how to make actual life goals. He knew from the get go that he wanted to be a Paediatric Doctor, specialising in children suffering from Abuse, but during his training; he decided he wanted to keep his options open post-graduation so took a wider approach to learning instead of focussing on one sector.

Reason for joining Starfleet or moving to a Federation base: Elijah excelled academically as a child and teenager, preferring to study over almost anything else. His parents decided his career for him early on and Elijah applied to Starfleet Medical Academy as planned. Despite feeling as though he had no choice in the matter, Elijah did have the personal drive to help others and he put 110% into all of his studies; determined to be successful and to get away from home.
Academy/Tech Majors and Interests: Majored in Medicine and Human Physiology. Elijah’s main interest is Child Abuse Paediatrics, however, he also has a keen interest in Hematology.

Favorite Things: Whiskey, boxing, clean bedding, cucumber, and the sound of the violin.
Least Favorite Things: Violence, disorganisation, dirty surroundings, the smell of beetroot, the taste of cabbage.
Bad Habits or Vices: Drinking, over-exerting himself when working out, bottling up his feelings.
Achievements (personal or professional): Being accepted to the Academy and graduating. Elijah also sees his physical form (athleticism) as an achievement as he was very thin and timid looking as a child.
Disappointments: He can’t save everyone, his Starfleet Medical Academy Professors thought his bedside manner was mediocre at best despite his attempt to appear friendly/easy-going, trauma is hard to forget.
Illnesses: N/A
Strengths: Dedicated/motivated, works well under pressure; calm demeanour, organised, and puts others first.
Weaknesses: He drinks too much, relies on routine to keep his mental health in check, speaks when spoken to; not one for conversation.

Please write a brief answer to 3 of the following (a sentence or two for each is fine):
Your character's most painful experience
After a particularly severe instance of abuse at his Father’s hand, Elijah was taken to A&E where he had to fabricate a reason for his injuries. It’s painful for him as he believes this was the only real opportunity he ever had for alerting anyone to the reality of his homelife, but he was too ashamed to say anything and lied on his Father’s behalf.
Your character's best or favorite experience
Studying past four am with his best friend Noah and realising for the first time that he had a genuine friend that he could trust, rely on, and that cared about him.
Your character's most crucial experience
Being accepted to Starfleet as it gave Elijah the much anticipated chance to leave home and learn to thrive in a safe environment. Eli gained a lot of confidence while studying, trained to be physically stronger, and learned to trust at least one other person. He believes applying to the Academy to be the best thing he could have ever done.
Who is your character's role model and why?
As a child, Eli’s role model was his Uncle Peter, a biology teacher who encouraged Eli’s learning and praised his academic ability. However, as an adult, Eli realised his Uncle most likely knew of his childhood homelife, and purposefully lost touch with his relative. As an adult, Eli’s role models change often due to them being people he knows (such as Professors) as he stops idolising them as soon as they lose their temper/reveal any kind of toxic trait/behaviour.
Please write a brief sample post from your character’s perspective:
The scorching July sun had set over an hour ago and yet the library still felt stuffed to the gills with humidity. Beads of sweat tickled Eli’s neck as they trickled from his hairline and slid down his back, distracting him from his studying. He had half a mind to head back to his dormitory and take a long, cold shower but his exams started in 3 days and he wanted to be overly prepared. His friend and only trusted companion, Noah, lounged back in their chair opposite him at the circular table; eyes closed, fridge stuck to their forehead, earbuds blasting whatever was currently in the charts. Eli considered taking a break, he could do with some more water, but he wouldn’t until he finished this section in the textbook. It was hard enough to get into in the first place and definitely wasn’t the kind of reading material you could just pick up and resume.
‘The absence of a working memory impairment in left DL patients is not surprising because, during the delay, the verbal memorization of cues was probably avoided by the interference procedure, thus rendering the task primarily non-verbal.’
Elijah sighed, somehow drawing Noah’s attention though Elijah wasn’t sure how given Noah’s music was on a very high output setting. His friend pulled a bud out and sat up in their chair.
“You look stressed,” they said, sounding indifferent to Eli’s self-imposed plight. Eli didn’t blame their lack of care, not many would.
“I’ve reread the same sentence four times now and I still don’t understand it,” Eli huffed and crossed his arms. Noah rolled their eyes and scratched behind their ear, scraping dry skin tinged with red hair dye under their nails which they then set upon removing with a safety pin.
“It’s beach weather so let’s go to the beach, you can read your dorky medical journals there,” Noah said with a whinge in their tone. Elijah’s brows drew together ever so slightly, unsure as to whether or not he should find Noah’s behaviour irksome.
“I’m not keeping you here,” he told them. “If you want to go to the beach, go to the beach.”
“I’m not a loner, Lijah,” Noah said, rolling their eyes. Eli hated the way they said Elijah without the E, it sounded silly but Noah refused to change their ways. “Plus, girls look my way more when you’re beside me.” Eli gave Noah an unimpressed look but they weren’t paying attention to him.
“I’m not going to the beach,” Eli said in a matter-of-fact tone. Noah inhaled loudly.
“Fine, me neither, didn’t want to anyway, whatever,” they said quickly and quietly, muttering. Eli tried to get back into his journal but minutes ticked by and he was getting increasingly wound up.
“Fine,” he eventually growled and Noah shot up out of their chair, a smug expression on their face.
“I call shotgun.”
“But it’s your car-“
Do you have previous experience with a role-play forum? I have 7 years of experience written role-playing 1x1, and 1 years’ experience on a similar open forum such as this (Shadow Fleet).
What brought you to the Frontier? A friend told me about this site.
Is there anything else you’d like to tell us? I have an anxiety disorder and sometimes find it hard to engage talking in large groups. I do actively try, however, but I may ask my XO lots of questions while still being new to the site.
