Personal History
Early Life/Pre-Starfleet Career:
Born and raised in Canada, more specifically in Toronto to a family apparently obsessed with naming their kids after the letter M. Maisie grew up feeling like the city was too small for her and always felt claustrophobic. Her family’s life was very much rooted on Earth, with only one previous member joining the StarFleet, her great aunt Amelia but by doing so she more or less estranged herself from the rest of the family. Maisie has never been sure why her family dislikes the StarFleet so much but she has always been amazed by life as part of the fleet. She spent many hours in school daydreaming about a day when she would be able to join the academy, which often got her into trouble but she still managed to get the necessary grade to enlist.

Please write a brief sample post from your character’s perspective:
Maisie couldn’t believe it. After almost five years at the Academy, she was finally there, about to board the station. Her whole body was like an emotional rollercoaster of butterflies. As she stood in the elevator, she wondered what her first few hours would be like. Who would be her new colleagues? Would Lurai be there to greet her? It had been at least two years since she had seen her best friend and she was beyond excited to work on the same station. In fact, when Maisie got the position, she hadn’t told Lurai that they’d both be working on the USS Mac because she wanted it to be a surprise.
Now she was beginning to feel a bit anxious, perhaps Lurai would be annoyed rather than excited? What if she wouldn’t be able to do a good job? So many things could go wrong during the first week and Maisie thought it was crucial to be the best version of yourself.
As the elevator continued its journey Maisie closed her eyes and imagined Great Aunt Amelia’s words playing over in her mind “Just be you. Everything else will come naturally.”
Finally, the elevator stopped moving and the doors slid open. For a moment, Maisie was almost too nervous to opened her eyes but eventually she did and stepped out of the elevator, ready to start her new life.
