As you may have noticed, our avatars here are pictures of our characters' faceclaims in Starfleet uniforms. These don't grow on trees - oftentimes, I have to make them!
Since I don't get paid for this, I'd like for you all to be considerate and not make my life too difficult. Here's how you can do that:
1. Check STAvatars.com:
STAvatars has pictures of a lot of celebrities already photoshopped into uniform. I'd really appreciate it if you check for your character there. If your character's particular look there doesn't suit you (fine example is me - Meryl Streep is there, but as she appears in "The Devil Wears Prada", which is not the look I'm going for), that's fine, but check. Try it.
2. The image should have your character standing or sitting straight, facing roughly forward.
3. Your character shouldn't be wearing any accessory (hats, sunglasses) that isn't an integral part of their appearance.
If your character wears eyeglasses (hello) or somethng of the sort on duty, that's fine. Random sunnies - not fine.
4. Your character's face shouldn't be obstructed by another object, another face, the end of the frame, or their hands.
5. Your image resolution shouldn't be too low, or else it'll look pixelated and bad.
6. Try to avoid any watermarks or lens flares that appear on your character's face in the image.
7. If your character isn't human, you'll need to bring an image of the appropriate species. Adding Klingon ridges, Vulcan ears, and the like, isn't something I know how to do. There are people in this community who can help, and STAvatars too, but not me.
8. Make sure the image you give me is properly lit, without random shadows or the likes.
9. Be intelligent with your faceclaim selection. If it's someone who's going to cause controversy, like Donald Trump, just... don't.
