Personal History
Early Life/Pre-Starfleet Career:
Eliska was born on the nearly failed colony world of Nova Kosice. Due to the rough start her home world had experienced, the colonists had evolved into a somewhat technologically backwards and culturally unique segment of Federation society. In fact, they largely viewed themselves as separate, rejected much of the modern comforts made available by the Federation tech base and adopted a rather parochial attitude.
However, there were more moderate elements to the Nova Kosicean population, and there were some orbital facilities to trade some traditionally grown foodstuffs and pasture-raised meat as well as to take advantage of the local deposits of materials critical to the Federation tech base.
Eliska's mother was a staunch traditionalist, while her father was far more open-minded, and their differences over raising their daughter eventually came to a head, which led to Katrin Bremmer to divorce her husband and divest herself of her parental rights and privileges over the 13 year old girl and she moved as far from them as she could without going into orbit. Katrin was opposed to their daughter learning Federation Standard and being exposed to technology and the greater world, while Niclas was a firm believer in expanding her horizons and learning everything she could.
Most of Eliska's early life consisted of the limited schooling avaiable on Nova Kosice, working on the family farms and orchards, and engaging in the traditional pastimes of camping, hunting, and the martial arts brought from Earth with the original colony draft.
When she was 15, the very first Federation starship in years, and the very first she was allowed to interact with, made a call on their colony, and this was her first exposure to Starfleet. And from that moment, she wanted to join. Until then, her Federation Standard was a barely functional second language to her for she had only spoken the patois of German, Czech, Polish known as Silesian to the colonists, but she redoubled her efforts to learn it, and when that ship left, she was given a study package to prepare her to apply to join Starfleet.
Once she turned 17, with her father's consent, she applied to, and was accepted to the Starfleet Enlisted Training Program.
Academy/Technical Academy (if Starfleet):
Until she was beamed on board the USS Sommerset to make her way to Earth, she had never been in orbit, never had experienced a transporter. And until her first meal on that ship, she had never had a replicated meal. Her technological illiteracy proved to be a real hurdle for her. Thankfully, Starfleet did provide a tech primer course for prospective recruits but it had been a thorough challenge for her.
However, her upbringing, with its active lifestly and the national sport of Nova Kosice being a form of traditional martial arts, on top of being on a world with a gravity almost a quarter again that of Earth, it was found that she thoroughly excelled in the physical aspects of Security training. Also, due to her ingrained lack of access to technology, she was seen as much less reliant than her fellow Security recruits on technological tools, leading to mixed end results. And, hobbies that saw her spent much time in the back country prepared her extremely well for Starfleet's survival training, and she took to all of it with gusto, from dealing with being dumped on a Class M planet and walking for a few days, to surviving on hostile worlds and in the vacuum of space.
All in all, she did fairly well in training, and the personnel offices saw no problems with seeing her assigned to a remote station on her very first assignment
Previous Assignments (if applicable): None. Mac and Front Ear are her first duty station.

Short-term Goals: Get through her first posting in one piece.
Long-term Goals: She's not at the point in her life to make those goals
Defining Characteristic: Very distinctive accent; grew up on a world with a 1.23g gravity well and has the physical aptitudes to match - at the cost of needing much time in the gym on a daily basis and more than half again the regular caloric intake to deal with the metabolic cost.

Prejudices: has a tendency to see people born on core Federation worlds as weak and pampered
Please write a brief answer to 3 of the following (a sentence or two for each is fine):
Your character's most painful experience
When her mother decided she wanted nothing more to do with her and her father. Katrin decided that Niclas' ways were childish and not true representations of Kosiceans, but if he thought he knew what was best for their daughter, then he was welcome to it and since he'd already 'poisoned' their daughter against the traditionalist ways, the woman just up and left, cursing them both roundly.
Your character's best or favorite experience
Completing her training as a Security Crewman. She was the first member of her family to get off-world, let alone join Starfleet. Perhaps in some's eyes she was just a mere Crewman, but she knew she'd taken the first step into the wider galaxy.
Your character's most crucial experience
Being told by her father that she didn't have to be a farmer or a miner, or a stay at home wife or any of what was considered to be a 'proper' member of their society. That was pretty much all that was in her immediate future on Nova Kosice, so he encouraged her to learn Federation Standard and to seek out a different life for herself if that's what she wanted.
Who is your character's role model and why?
She doesn't really have one, what with not really knowing what makes a good role model within the wide Federation. However, she did have a few good examples she wanted to emulate among her instructors and peers, and that's about as far as it goes at this time.
Please write a brief sample post from your character’s perspective:
The ship was stupendous to Eliska Bremmer. Clean, crisp, if somewhat flat, air coming out of the vents. Lights that did not flicker or cause eye strain. And, before her, sharply uniformed personel operating the controls of the transporte that had brought her aboard... and she felt so out of place in her canvas pants and linen shirt. She had been welcomed by some fellow who identified himself as a Petty Officer Thomasson, and before long she had found herself squared away in a berthing compartment with another three women, and there were still four bunks available. Apparently, the Sommerset had to do a few more pickups of would-be recruits on its way back to Earth, and she was just one of many.
To her, the steady temperature, the dorm-like room, the lights, the lack of noise, was luxury. And the sight out the porthole was like a dream come true. Little did she care the Sommerset was a seventy year old Excelsior-class ship that was no longer suitable for front-line duty, or that the eight-bunk bay was considered cramped by the standards of her roommates, or that the trails left by stars at warp speed were nothing new to them. To her, this was a time of wonder.
That is, until she got hungry and she followed her companions to the messhall... and she found herself completely stumped. There was no food line, no trays steaming with what a galley would have made. Instead, people were lining up to some alcoves in the wa... bulkhead and food was coming out. When her turn came and she faced the alcove, she had no idea what to do and she stood there, mute and dumbstruck.
"Hey, how about you move it along up there!" came from behind her. That man, who was well into his thirties and looked more than a little rough around the edges, was also on her draft, but he was lodged in the male quarters across the corridor. And apparently, she was taking too long for some his taste, and that did very little to help her at this point. "I, uh, I don't know what to do," she stammered out in confusion. "Are you kidding me? Come on, kid, order something already and move along!"
The man was getting more impatient, but in the next line, one young woman from her draft looked over to the struggling colony girl. "Wait, are you saying you've never seen a replicator before?" Her voice, unlike the other fellow, wasn't unkind if a little surprised. "No, I haven't," she answered honestly.
"Wow, what kind of backwater did they find you on that you can't even work a replicator?" His mockery drew some laughter from the others, and Eliska considered turning around and having it out with him, but the other girl did place a hand on her shoulder, noticing her clenching fist, and gave her a smile before she too looked to the other fellow. "Downey, why don't you shut up? If you were half as good as you say you are, you wouldn't be parked in a eight-man bay on your way to the Enlisted Training Program, you'd've been an officer years ago." Then, she returned her attention to the clearly out-of-place recruit, and smiled gain. "Don't worry about him, here, let me
show you," she said.
