[Charlie Fox - Private Function Room -> Hallway, Twilight Hotel & Casino]"Oh, you can't be serious!" Charlie groaned when she caught sight of the 'bulge' in Morii's pants. This was truly not her best day. Not even the sight of Kova dumping that cold water on the man's crotch could help. He'd probably enjoy that, too. Not straight away, but later. Charlie fought back the full-body shudder that was threatening to break free. When she stepped outside the room, leaving the second glances back at the curled up man on the ground to Kova, she was completely stiff from holding everything in. But she nodded anyway, agreeing with the Andorian's observations. Olsen bobbed beside them, as though he, too, was in agreeance. "Chromar is a whole different kettle of fish." She felt a little separate to herself, detached perhaps, so she did not realise that she was using an Earth idiom that Kova might not recognise. "He won't fall for something like that, nor will he sing like Morii did. And Slilick, well he's locked up tighter than a drum."The turbolift at the end of the hall pinged, and the doors opened smoothly to reveal a Bolian in the hotel's uniform. "Ah, ladies! Is everything quite alright? Is there anything I might assist you with?" Vaken Tariwat only had eyes for the Andorian goddess. "Time to go..." Charlie muttered, mind already on that long, cleansing shower.

[ Kova Sh'qaleq - Hallway, Twilight Casino & Hotel, Front Ear Station ] Kova wasn't entirely certain that she understood the words that Charlie had said, but she did agree with the sentiment. Attempting to obtain information from Chromar wouldn't be nearly as easy as it had been with Van Morii. As a public figure, he had many pressure points that could be exploited. Such tactics would not work with the likes of Chromar. As for Slilick, he'd managed to protect himself from many forms of blowback for years. From what Kova had seen, it wasn't going to be much easier connecting him with Xyla's murder either. Finally, the Andorian spoke aloud. "I believe I know how to deal with Chromar," Kova said. She paused and took a deep breath. In many ways, she felt that she could sense the danger of dealing with a man like him. "It's understandable if you prefer not to be present for that meeting." Kova thought it was only fair to offer such a warning, since this would mean exposing what they knew to Chromar, which were things he may not wish to be known. She then heard the familiar voice of that Bolian from the lobby coming towards them. As Charlie mentioned that it was time to go, Kova couldn't agree more. "I believe the gentleman in that room had a little... accident," Kova said, gesturing to the room that they'd just left. "You may have to remind him that he told us that he'd cover all the damages... and that he would give you a very generous tip for your discretion." Kova then proceeded to move, leaving Morii in Vaken's capable hands.

[Vaken Tariwat & Charlie Fox- Hallway, Twilight Hotel & Casino]Despite her discomfort at what had just transpired in the hotel room, Charlie's interest was definitely piqued by Kova's plan for Chromar. She arched a brow, and shook her head, no interest in taking the way out that the Andorian was offering her. "I wouldn't miss it," she responded firmly, her gaze unwavering. She'd come this far, it wasn't in her to stop. Charlie snorted at the mention of the accident, before turning to walk in the opposite direction to this hotel employee. She was keen to leave the room in her rear-view, too, but she did not miss the way the Bolian was staring at Kova. "Someone's got a fan...""It is my greatest pleasure to look after everything for you!" Vaken assured eagerly. He had no idea what would greet him inside that room, but the only tip that he required was for this goddess to look upon him once more.

[ Kova Sh'qaleq - Guest House: Lavender 6, Elycar Spa, Moon of Sinon II] The case of Xyla's murder had gone cold for months. So much had gotten in the way of it, and frankly, Kova felt responsible. Not for the obstacles, but for letting things fall as far as they did. Starfleet wasn't looking into the case anymore, and without Kova working there there wasn't really anyone to keep it alive on the station. She couldn't even pressure Sven to continue working it now that he was gone. Of course, the next person that both Kova and Charlie had wanted to talk to also hadn't been as accessible either. The Nyberrite presence hadn't been as heavy after months of tension between the Federation and the Nyberrite Alliance after those war game exercises. It seemed that things were finally getting back to normal, and Chromar had finally decided to make himself available... though not before giving Kova and Charlie about half a dozen hoops to jump through. Chromar had insisted on meeting on neutral ground. That was how he had they had ended up at some luxury spa on the Moon of Sinon II. Leave it to someone like Chromar to find a slice of paradise in orbit of a demon-class planet. In addition, he had insisted that they do so of their own expense. Kova certainly had to dip into her savings now that she wasn't gainfully employed, and the Andorian doubted that Charlie would be able to convince her producers to fully fund this excursion. It was a simple matter of Chromar showing them that he was the one in control. Kova stepped out of her room and onto the balcony. As expensive as this place was, it was beautiful. There could be a thousand disasters happening anywhere in the galaxy, and in this place those weren't even a concern. To think there were people who could literally pay to make their problems go away. Kova checked the chronometer. They had about ten minutes before their meeting with Chromar. Kova walked back into the room, and stared at her reflection in the mirror. There really wasn't much to appraise. The white sandals on her feet were the only addition to her attire with the exception of a single towel, wrapped across her body, leaving little to the imagination where her blue extremities were concerned. "Charlie Fox... it's nearly time," Kova called out. It really shouldn't take this long to get ready considering the dress code Chromar had inisted upon.

[Charlie Fox - Guest House: Lavender 6, Elycar Spa, Moon of Sinon II]Charlie was flat broke, is what she was; flat broke and half naked thanks to Chromar's weird conditions. The neutral territory, she got. The not being allowed to record, she could even respect. But towels and spa treatments? Was it some kind of power play? Did he think that they'd feel vulnerable and inclined to make mistakes when their skin was bare? She didn't think Kova was all that bothered by it, really, though she supposed it would make a lot of humans uncomfortable. Charlie wasn't sure how she felt about it, but at least she didn't have to spend time worrying about what to wear. And Xyla didn't have to worry at all any more, did she? And nobody else had worried about the dead Deltan for months, had they? She was jolted back to the present by the sound of Kova's voice calling her. "Okay, okay, keep your clothes on..."Har, har.Charlie stepped out of the huge, candlelit bathroom and into the bedroom, unconsciously tugging at the hemline of the fluffy white towel, which fell about an inch shy of truly decent. Her long hair was swept up into a loose French twist and clipped in place, keeping her shoulders and back bare. She had no idea what they were about to do, but at least her hair wouldn't get wet. Her eyes lingered for a moment on her Andorian friend - it was hard to miss her in such a similar state of undress - and then she made a beeline for the small but stocked bar. Replicated synthehol just would not do, nor would any of those mysterious health smoothies. She bent down to retrieve one of the cute little liquor bottles from a tray, likely giving Kova an eyeful in the process, and then straightened up. In one hand she held a bottle containing a fiery red liquid, in the other a cool blue. She had no idea what either of them were, and nor did she care. She tossed the blue one to Kova, because matching, unscrewed the cap on hers and downed it in one. "Let's go," she suggested, her eyes already streaming with hot tears from the drink. It had been awful, but it served its purpose.

[ Kova Sh'qaleq - Guest House: Lavender 6, Elycar Spa, Moon of Sinon II] Charlie eventually appeared wearing only a towel just as Kova was... just as Chromar had instructed. The Andorian watched as Charlie moved towards the bar and removed a pair of bottle form them. As one of them was tossed towards Kova, the Andorian instinctively caught it. She stared at the blue bottle, and then looked at Charlie who was opening hers, a red one, and wasted little time in downing it. The Andorian followed suit, and recognized it instantly as Romulan ale. While Kova found most human spirits quite tame, this was far from it. Luckily, this didn't appear to be a ritual that Charlie desired to repeat. For that, Kova was grateful. Kova followed the woman out of the room as they moved towards their destination. They honestly had no idea what Chromar had waiting for them, though he had gone through a great deal to set his up. "His directions said that he should be just up ahead," Kova stated. At his resort, each of the guests had their own cottages. They were reinforced with sound dampening materials so that you no one disturbed any of their fellow guests. Chromar's instructions to their meeting place had informed them how to dress, and the latest communication had a map leading from their guest house to his location. Kova recognized the destination right away. It certainly explained their required attire. "A sauna," Kova said as she turned to look at Charlie. Kova didn't notice anyone lingering around, and so she assumed that Chromar was likely waiting inside. Kova moved towards the door and pulled it open.
[NPC - Major Chromar - Sauna, Elycar Spa, Moon of Sinon II] Chromar turned his attention towards the latest arrivals. A smirk slowly spread across his lips as his eyes took them in. They had followed his instructions to the letter, or at least it appeared so. "Charlie Fox and Kova Sh'qaleq," said Chromar. "I do hope our meeting here wasn't too much of an inconvenience. Please... have a seat." He gestured towards the bench opposite him. Yet, before either woman could settle, he cleared his throat. "Wait," he said, his eyes moving between the women. "Is there any objection to my checking you for recording devices?" the Romulan asked as he stood up.

[Charlie Fox - Guest House -> Sauna, Elycar Spa, Moon of Sinon II]As Kova pointed out that their destination should just be up ahead, Charlie too had to admit, though just to herself, that Chromar had indeed thought of everything. The extent of the control the man wielded, or needed to wield, could seemingly not be understated. She wondered what would happen if he lost control; if his script wasn't followed. They stopped outside of the sauna, and Charlie let breath to a really ugly curse word. A sauna. She was the palest human she knew, and while she enjoyed a walk in the sun or a fruity concoction with an umbrella on the beach, it didn't mean she could stand the heat for extended periods. But Kova, it would be even worse for her. So much worse. She traipsed in behind, grimacing. If she hadn't already felt put out by the many hoops they'd had to jump through just to secure ten minutes of his precious time, this stunt with the sauna was enough to push her over the edge. "It was a massive inconvenience," she returned in all honesty, keeping a tight hold on her temper. Pretending that it was perfectly normal to come all the way out here to Demonclassland, at their own expense to spend some time in a sauna with him was an absolute waste of their time; and nobody would buy it, anyway. "But here we are, because you're special."Okay, maybe the hold wasn't as tight as she'd thought. She was usually much better at this kind of thing, but there was something about him that rubbed her a far different way than Morii had. At the question she arched a brow, then glanced at Kova. There were certainly plenty of places that one could secret listening devices, even beneath tiny towels such as the ones they were currently wearing. Charlie shrugged and raised her arms, wordlessly consenting to the search.

[ Kova Sh'qaleq - Guest House: Lavender 6, Elycar Spa, Moon of Sinon II] As Kova stepped inside, she almost instantly could feel the perspiration threatening to seep from her pores. She knew that she'd be fine, but at Chromar's mention of hoping that this wasn't an inconvenience... well, there were a few colorful words she could use to describe just how inconvenient this trip, and now this sauna, had been. Though the cause for being there was worth it. She said nothing more, allowing Charlie's words to suffice for the time being. Then, came Chromar's request to search them for recording devices. Kova's eyes narrowed after exchanging a look with Charlie. She watched as the reporter held her arms up for what she assumed was a pat down. Was this really how he was playing it? Kova debated exactly how many of is fingers she should break if he laid a hand on either Charlie or herself.
[NPC - Major Chromar - Sauna, Elycar Spa, Moon of Sinon II] Chromar smiled as he watched how annoyed the Andorian became at his request, even as the human held up her hands consenting to the search. "I never took as one to be so presumptuous, Miss Fox," said Chromar, "or compliant. Nevertheless, that won't be necessary." Chromar pulled a ring from his finger and held it out for inspection. "This will send out a subsonic pulse that should render any recording devices inert. Though, it's nice to know that you were at least willing to entertain me further."Chromar pressed the stone on the ring. There didn't seem to be any reaction. However, Chromar did notice a slight wince on the Andorian's face as her antennae recoiled. Though only a few seconds later was there a spark in the crown of the wall. Chromar pressed the stone again, halting the emission. "Always a hazard in a place such as then when members of the Orion Syndicate invest in such ventures." Chromar moved back to where he had been sitting and gestured for the ladies to sit as well. "Now, shall we begin? You obviously believe I have something that you want," he stated. "In my line of work, information has a price. Would you care to know mine?"

[Charlie Fox - Sauna, Elycar Spa, Moon of Sinon II]"Believe it or not it's not the worst proposition I've had this year." Charlie's tone was pretty flat, one shoulder raised up in half a shrug. It was true; she'd dealt with Morii's telepathic invasion and she'd been to prison. Being searched in a towel probably was a gross violation, but she wasn't sure it rated on the Top 10 Shitty Things Done To Charlie List. She could almost feel Kova's disquiet from beside her. There were certain things you just came to know about someone you shared a filthy floor in a group cell with; and any precursors to shifts in mood was usually one of them. Charlie took a seat on a wooden bench, hoping to get the show on the road as soon as possible, so she and Kova could get out of this fire. And so she could maybe raid more of the bar in the room. She was paying ridiculous money for it, after all. The spark and strange hiss that came from the wall above them distracted her. She scooched forward on the bench and twisted around to get a proper look at the blown device behind her. She knew that in a place like this the Orions wouldn't scrimp on gear, which meant what Chromar was packing was even more impressive and expensive. The next sound, following his little speech on prices, was an audible sigh. She leaned back again and crossed her legs at the knee. "Of course." Of course everything had a price or of course she wanted to know his? Both, likely. She adjusted her towel and waited, aware that the bigger his ask, the more information she could request in return.

[ Kova Sh'qaleq & NPC - Major Chromar - Sauna, Elycar Spa, Moon of Sinon II] Chromar knew the answer to the question before he even asked it, but still to hear the words form Charlie's mouth, and the silent affirmation of the Andorian was necessary before proceeding. "I typically deal in the only currencies I trust: truths and dares," said the Romulan poking fun at the human colloquialism. "When I ask for it, you can give me a truth: accurate information that I would obviously find personally beneficial, or a dare: a favor that again suits my needs. No questions asked... simply your compliance." The Romulan took a deep breath. "This is an all or nothing, proposition," Chromar said. "You both agree, or we go our separate ways."As Kova sat down, she crossed her arms in front of her chest as her eyes bore into Chromar. It didn't take long for him to get to the point. And essentially, what he'd asked for was a blank check, that he could cash whenever he saw fit. It was a dangerous deal to make, because a man like Chromar wouldn't ask for anything simple. Kova looked towards Charlie. He was one of the last leads they had. If they didn't get anything out of him, then they'd likely never get to the bottom of Xyla's murder. "How do we know that we can trust you?" Kova said. Of course, the fact of the matter was that she didn't trust Chromar... at all. Chromar smiled and shrugged. "You don't," he conceded. "Though, I'm confident that I wouldn't ask either of you to do something you haven't done before. So, do we have a deal?"Kova looked at Charlie, wondering if she truly wanted to commit to such a burden. She couldn't blame Charlie if she decided not to. Yet, the Andorian's mind was already made up. Her eyes turned back to the Nyberrite Intelligence Officer. "I'm in." Upon getting the Andorian's answer, Chromar's eyes moved to Charlie Fox.

[Charlie Fox - Sauna, Elycar Spa, Moon of Sinon II]This was bad. Charlie had done all kinds of things before, many of which she'd rather not repeat. She didn't even have to ask Kova if she could relate, she just knew. But the Andorian was in; they'd come this far and this was possibly the last stop on the short tour of Xyla's Station life. Charlie met Kova's glance and found herself searching the other's face. For what, she couldn't exactly pinpoint. Doubt? Determination? Some might be comforted by the notion that they weren't alone in this, that there was another who could be put to work by this snake, but not Charlie. In that moment Charlie thought she'd prefer to only worry about herself. "Alright," she said eventually, pulling her eyes from Kova and returning her attention to Chromar. Of course, he wasn't to be trusted. He likely knew exactly why they were there, too. And since he'd done them the courtesy of not beating around the bush, she supposed she could do the same. But while she'd come out and levelled accusations of murder at Morii as Kova had stood on his chest, that wasn't something that would float with this suspect. "I'm working on an exposé."

[ Kova Sh'qaleq & NPC - Major Chromar - Sauna, Elycar Spa, Moon of Sinon II] It didn't take long for the pair to agree to his terms. As if a deal had been struck with the devil himself, a sinister grin began to spread across Chromar's lips. "Excellent," he stated. He wouldn't name his terms yet. That would come in due time. For now, it was time to see exactly what this pair wanted. He had a very good idea, but in his line of work, it never paid to presume and confirmation was a must. "You may proceed."Kova took a deep breath, as Charlie got underway, stating that she was working on an exposé. Her eyes studied Chromar for any sign of a reaction, but the man remained stoic and unreadable. As far as poker faces went, he would be a formidable opponent. Of course, Kova would be more concerned about him holding a disruptor under a table rather than cards up his sleeve. "And who's dirty laundry are you looking to air now?" he asked. "Ambassador Morii perhaps? A little birdie told me that you met with her husband a while back. Or perhaps you're taking another stab at the Caldonians. If so, I can only tell you so much. There's undoubtedly some client confidentiality cause that limits what I can share.""It was intriguing how that worked out," Chromar observed. "There was a part of me that almost expected Starfleet to reach out to the Alliance for assistance, though I suspect all those that prefer to dwell in shades of gray were the ones actually caught." Chromar leaned back with a smirk on his face. "How is Commander Harmon these days?" Perhaps it was just his way of toying with them. Saying a lot of nothing to maintain control of the conversation. Kova rolled her eyes. "We're not here to speak of the Ambassador or Harmon," Kova pointed out. "In fact, as per our deal: you're giving us information. Not the other way around." Chromar shrugged and simply nodded towards Charlie urging the woman to continue with her questions.

[Charlie Fox - Sauna, Elycar Spa, Moon of Sinon II]Charlie actually smiled when he began to talk. It wasn't just the topic that amused her, but also that Chromar had chosen it all by himself. Some people, no matter how highly they valued their information, couldn't help but hand it over to prove that they could. You simply had to give them the opportunity. The tidbit that the Fleet hadn't contacted the Alliance for help was new knowledge, and disproved the claim that they'd "exhausted all avenues". When he mentioned Harmon, however, the smiled dropped from her face. She may be angry with him, but nobody else was allowed talk about him, in any way. Just them. Her fingers curled into fists of their own accord, but she was glad that Kova responded and redirected the discussion. For a moment there the sensation of heat rising to her cheeks wasn't just as a result of the high humidity in the sauna. "Actually, it's on the operation being run from What Lies Beneath. A little birdie told me that you're familiar with some of the employees of that establishment. Well, one in particular." Maybe she would enjoy herself, after all. "You knew Xyla intimately, and we were hoping you might want to help us figure out what happened to her."

[ Kova Sh'qaleq & NPC - Major Chromar - Sauna, Elycar Spa, Moon of Sinon II] Naturally, Kova was watching Chromar closely. It was perhaps wise of Charlie to move on with the questioning. She mentioned Slilick's place, What Lies Beneath. It was with intrigue that she watched the confident smirk slowly slide from the Romulan's face. Especially once Xyla was mentioned. If it was possible, it was almost as if the Romulan had turned pale. Where had all of that confidence gone? And what was on Chromar's face now? Sorrow... or ire? "Xyla... didn't listen," Chromar said slowly. His hand clinched tightly, his knuckles almost as white as bone. "I warned her... and she... didn't... listen."Kova's eyes narrowed. Chromar was typically more verbose, but he seemed to be struggling to say much of anything. "Warned her? About what?" Kova asked. Chromar's eyes darted up at the Andorian. Her antennae curled slightly as even she felt a chill down her spine, with the look in Chromar's eyes. "What? Try who?" he said, his eyes shifting to the reporter as well. "Slilick... Morii... those girls that would be her friends... any of her clients. The obvious enemies are easy to find. It's the ones that are closer to you that you should truly be weary of." Chromar took a deep breath shaking his head. "Welcoming anyone with open arms just gives them a choice of where to stab you."

[Charlie Fox - Sauna, Elycar Spa, Moon of Sinon II]Charlie watched as Chromar reacted in a manner she was not expecting. She remained quiet, not wanting to interrupt or direct the natural flow. Her expression was as blank as she could get it, her eyes moving from the Romulan, to the Andorian next to her as they exchanged words, and then back. Had the sauna not been so hot and humid, she might have shivered at the ice in the man's stare. Finally, her expression cracked a little, showing slight disbelief. "Xyla wasn't stupid, Major." On the contrary, Charlie had found her intelligent. At least, the journalist would have trusted her only true source for this sordid tale to have extensive street smarts. "She was careful, cautious. Slow to trust and quick to leave."She narrowed her eyes as she considered him. She was sure he had warned her, but she wasn't sure he was being completely truthful with regard to the content of the warning. "From what I've found, the only person truly close enough to her to be a real threat, was you."
