Personal History
Early Life/Pre-Starfleet Career:
Lila was born on Earth to a human mother and Betazoid father. Her father, Oslin Rea, was a diplomat for Betazed, which is how he met her mother, Sabrina Bowen. Sabrina was a medical officer aboard the USS Hartford, a ship bringing Oslin to a diplomatic meeting, when Oslin fell ill with the Tarkalean flu. Sabrina treated him and the two quickly fell in love and were married. Sabrina became pregnant with Lila the next year, but during her pregnancy, Oslin was killed in an attack on a diplomatic function. Distraught, Sabrina returned to Earth and gave birth to Lila. They lived with Sabrina’s parents, Jack and Amelia Bowen. Sabrina took a job as a professor at Boston University’s medical school and raised Lila with her parents’ help.
As Lila was born on Earth and raised by humans, she has practically no psionic abilities. She is somewhat more aware of people’s emotions than a typical human might be, but cannot communicate telepathically with anyone. She is hoping to change this and learn to hone any psionic abilities that exist from her Betazoid heritage.
From a young age, Lila showed interest in martial arts. She excelled at Judo, kickboxing, Krav Maga, Vulcan Suus Mahna and Klingon Mok’bara.
Academy/Technical Academy (if Starfleet):
At the Academy, Lila struggled a bit with the more academic classes like astrophysics and always had to work extra hard to do well. Because of this, she frequently ran on coffee and only a few hours of sleep.
She was lucky (or, really, talented) enough to be part of Starfleet’s Advanced Tactical Training program.

Please write a brief answer to 3 of the following (a sentence or two for each is fine):
Your character's most painful experience
Growing up without a father was painful for her. She viewed her grandfather Jack as a father figure, but knew it would never be the same as having a dad around.
Your character's best or favorite experience
The day she got her Academy acceptance. As more of a fighter than someone with book smarts, she had to do a lot of studying to be able to get into the Academy. Since she wanted to join from a young age, she started studying early.
Your character's most crucial experience
When she was old enough to understand it, learning about her father and his death. She didn’t know about death before, so it terrified her, and it’s part of why she’s such a fighter.
Who is your character's role model and why?
She greatly admires Tuvok’s role as security officer on board Voyager and hopes to emulate his attention to detail and readiness to act.
Please write a brief sample post from your character’s perspective:
“Oh no,” Lila said, reading her PADD. She was sitting in the mess hall with her best friend and roommate Maia. They’d served together for two years on the Apollo out of the Academy.
“What’s wrong?”
Lila felt a lump in her throat. “I’m being transferred to the Mac. We’re not going to be serving together any more…” her voice drifted off, sad at the prospect of losing her friend.
“Wow… that’s a bummer,” Maia said.
“We’ll still be in touch, right? I hate when people say ‘we’ll keep in touch’ and never do.” She thought that people ought to say what they mean and keep to their word more than they normally did. Lila grumbled and forced herself to eat a spoonful of mac and cheese. Her stomach was upset at the news, but she also needed the fuel.
Do you have previous experience with a role-play forum? Yes, though I haven’t done it in a while (at least a few years).
What brought you to the Frontier? I love Star Trek dearly (only got into it around 2 years ago, but I’ve caught up on everything!) and I’m trying to get back into RPing.
Is there anything else you’d like to tell us? I’m happy to be here and excited for a Star Trek RP.
