[Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - Blue Beta -> Park]The relatively quiet walk was against Judy's general nature - she was inclined to point out the various shops, with the odd anecdote about a shopkeeper - but she knew to adjust to her audience. At last, they were at the park. "The nice thing is that there's plenty of space, so if, say, I bring my grandchildren out here for a picnic, you can still find plenty of quiet spots away from that," she noted, mentioning her own favored use of the park. Occupying most of the deck, as it did, the park was quite large, and very much green. It was an inherently relaxing space.

[Park, Deck 6, Front Ear Station] Deck 6 was indeed spacious, as T'Karra was pleasantly surprised to see. Her expectation had been that the park, much like most facilities on stations and starships, would be relatively small compared to its planetary counterparts. The flora was also impressive. A vast collection of perennial plants and colorful flowering plants were arranged in pleasing patterns around the walkways and leisure areas. Rather than being exclusively Terran, there was a variety of plant life- some of which she recognized from other eco systems with equally mild temperatures such as Risa and Betazed. "I was not expecting to see trees," she said, taking a few steps closer to admire the nearest cluster of greenery. If the gymnasium did not possess a quarter mile track, she would follow the doctor's example and run in the park as well. She turned to the pair and asked, "Why do you share meals here rather than at a dining facility or home? Thea Baker Judith Eastman

[Park - Deck 6, Front Ear] The Park never failed to instil calm within the Doctor as she looked out towards the trees, plants and her favourite spot to sit, whenever she had finished a run or enjoy with or without Isaiah depending on shift times. It was definitely a slice of Paradise that made you think that you weren't out in the middle of nowhere and closer to home. Listening as Judy explained about the amount of space and told them how she liked to enjoy the park. That comment made Thea smile as she was yet to experience motherhood but it was nice to hear what she did. When T'Karra then reacted to the park, especially the trees, Thea remembered her own first time here and it was good to see it having a similar effect. However when she then asked why they shared meals here instead of dining facility or their home, Thea understood why she had asked such a question. " It's somewhere different, I guess and it's nice to have a picnic whilst sitting on the grass and appreciating everything that it has to offer. Plus its a fun activity as I've had the occasional picnic with my partner here".

[Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - Park, Deck 6, Front Ear Station]Judy wasn't entirely surprised that the idea of a picnic wasn't too familiar to T'Karra. It was, after all, a most illogical practice. "Like Thea said, it's different; there's a different ambience. You have all the open space, the vegetation, the little grandkids running around - it's different," she elaborated. "It's something that we used to do all the time as a family back on Earth, and out here we don't even need to worry about sunblock."Judy's very visibly pale complexion made her a prime candidate for sunburns. Indeed, she'd been sunburned several times from sitting too close to a window for too long.

[Park, Deck 6, Front Ear Station] "Although it seems inefficient, I can understand the appeal," she said. She was not immune to the beauty of nature, though doing something similar in the wilderness of Vulcan would be ill advised. Taking meals along side the poisonous fauna of the planet would undoubtedly lead to disaster. But this was not Vulcan and the park did appear quite safe as was evidenced by a couple strolling along the pathway, hand in hand. "When you say 'sunblock' to what are you referring?" she asked, continuing to watch them as they passed. Thea Baker Judith Eastman

[Park - Deck 6, Front Ear] As Judy added to her explanation about picnics and how it was also something that she used to do back on Earth. Thea thought back to her own childhood and how they would do the same thing, usually on the beach or up in the woods near the cottage that she had grew up in. The CMO rarely thought of those times these days with so much to occupy her mind with both the pleasant and not so pleasant so being able to talk about that was definitely a nice rarity. However as the topic of sunblock was mentioned, Thea was only to aware of her own need for such a necessity with her red hair and pale skin, so knowing she wasn't the only one in the immediate area was good to know. So when T'Karra asked about it after a nearby couple walked past, Thea answered her. " It's a compound usually found in cream, stick or gel form to help protect the skin from the sun and prevent it from burning. Like Commander Eastman, I also need to use it, if I'm anywhere hot due to my pale skin and usually I try to find a shady spot to sit in".

[Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - Park, Deck 6, Front Ear Station]Judy nodded as Thea gave the primer on what sunblock is. "You know, it's a function of the diversity of climates that humans live in on Earth. Those of us who originated from the more equatorial parts of the planet, where the weather is warm, sunny, and perfect, have darker skin tones and hold up better in sunlight. Folks with ancestors from colder areas, like Dr. Baker and myself, are almost translucent and burn easily," she elaborated. She looked back towards the exit to the park. "Are we ready to hit our next stop?" the First Officer asked.

[Park, Deck 6, Front Ear Station] "Lead the way, Commander," she answered. "We see a similar increase in melanin production in Vulcans who hail from the scattered tropical regions of the planet as well, though we are all relatively resilient to the ultraviolet radiation of our star," she continued as she followed along. "I was unaware that humans were susceptible but sunblock seems a practical solution to the problem." She cocks an eyebrow, looking the two of her superiors up and down before adding, "And I would hardly say that you and Doctor Baker are even approaching translucence." Thea Baker Judith Eastman

[Park - Deck 6, Front Ear] As Judy elaborated further on the use of sunblock and why people like herself and Thea needed it unlike some others and how it depended on the climate and other factors. The CMO knew she wasn't wrong although that was the first time that she had been referred to as translucent. The burning easily part was something that Thea had experienced a few times, until she had found a suitable sunblock that worked perfectly. When Judy then asked if they were ready to move to the next stop, Thea was a little reluctant to leave the calm of the park but at the same time, quickly dismissed it so she could be ready to go. " Yes, I'm ready to move" Thea replied, before T'Karra then explained about those on Vulcan who had a similar reaction to climate. However it was interesting to hear about how resilient they were to the UV rays as the Crewman then commented about the use of sunblock as she hadn't been aware of the susceptibility that certain Humans suffered from. When she then added that neither Thea or Judy looked as though they were nearing translucence, Thea couldn't help but smile at what was said. " Thanks T'Karra, I'm glad that I'm not but I believe the Commander was referring to how pale our skin is compared to others, although makeup helps with that".

[Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - Park, Deck 6 -> Deck 2]"It was a little bit of an exaggeration, and as the Doctor said, makeup helps," Judy explained as she led them to the turbolift. She used some makeup herself, but not too much, wanting to gracefully accept her wrinkles rather than bury them. With the press of a button, she sent them rocketing up towards Ops. "Our next stop will be the nervous center of the station. Really, everything that goes on here is monitored from Ops, by the officers there. It does get boring, sometimes," Judy commented, before the doors opened to deposit them on Deck 2. "The chairs are actually pretty new. They were installed just three months back," she noted, having selected the ergonomic design herself.

[Command Center, Deck 2, Front Ear Station] T'Karra thought the chairs looked sufficient enough, but it was the so-called nervous system that caught her attention. A multitude of monitors, computer consoles, and personnel ran command and control for a strategically significant station of thousands. To her right in particular hung an enormous display, glowing with the myriad of the IFF transponders in the sector that it tracked. Her gaze finally came to rest on the console overlooking a docking pylon and the Human acting as a traffic controller, carefully guiding a transporter in. She would hardly describe it as boring. No, it was "fascinating" that came to her lips. Thea Baker Judith Eastman

[Command Centre - Deck 2, Front Ear] The journey to the nerve centre of the station was as efficient as it usually was and with Judy taking the lead, listened as she explained about Ops for T'Karra's benefit. Although once they had arrived, it occurred to Thea that she herself hadn't spent much time in the command centre either and it had been a while since her last visit. So she took a moment to observe the goings on and the staff at work, noticing a similar reaction from the Vulcan Crewman and smiled, remembering what it was like for her to visit for the first time and how easy it was forget about certain areas, thanks to her current duties. Not that she would change anything, so when she did get to be on the station, she made the most of it, just like she was right now, with the tour. When Judy then mentioned the chairs being new, Thea recognised the design and understood why they had been changed. " That's a good idea and they do look comfortable so I definitely approve from a medical viewpoint" Thea began then looked at T'Karra. " What do you think of Ops?".

[Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - Ops, Deck 2]Judy stood back, propping one arm against a railing, and let T'Karra take it in. Having spent hours up here herself, she knew that it could get repetitive, which was why she tried to bring some treats with her to raise the shift officers' spirits - which she hadn't had the opportunity to do this time around. She once again reached into her handbag for a lens-cleaning cloth and cleaned her bifocals, allowing herself a pleased smile at the young woman's visible interest.

[Command Center, Deck 2, Front Ear Station] After the docking was completed, T'Karra glanced at the pair and gave them an approving nod. "Fascinating," she repeated. "I believe that the Commander's metaphor is suitable." The hub appeared to be functioning quite effectively with a normal operational staff, she could only speculate at how efficiency would improve with a full battle staff. "How frequently are battle drills and exercises run?" Thea Baker Judith Eastman

[Ops - Deck 2] When T'Karra nodded approvingly and shared with them that she found Ops fascinating as well as how Judy's metaphor was suitable. Thea smiled happy to get this kind of reaction and appreciated this kind of feedback as not everyone had the same opinion but it was nice to share something else in common with the Crewman. When asked how often they ran battle drills and exercises, Thea could only really answer from the Mac's perspective since she spent the majority of her time on the starship. " I can't answer for the station as I spend the majority of my time on the Mac but there we tend to run drills and exercises at least once, although that can change depending on the mission, especially when we know what type of situation it will be"." Although I do know that Security do run training exercises every day usually in the holodeck".
