[ Senior Chief Melihn Ryah - Deck S6 - Meeting Room] After the events of Murder! and while the Mac is berthed at the station.Senior Chief Petty Officer Melihn stood at the head table in the largest of the security meeting rooms, waiting to preside over her final morning briefing as Chief of Security of the station. She'd already given Sven his pips and informed him of the promotion, but she'd wanted to do more since they'd had to deal with the murders on the train holo-program. She'd start the morning off as a normal meeting, do the official hand-over, then have the food brought in for a celebration. Ryah couldn't help being a little melancholy. She hadn't lied when she'd told Sven that she was happy to give up the position as chief, but change was always difficult, and she'd been doing the job for a long time. Ryah was sure after a little time she'd remember how much she liked not being the one in charge. [Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - Meeting Room, Deck S6]
After the exercises with the Nyberrites, Judy could use some more happy duties. She'd missed the chance to pin the pips on Sven, her friend and subordinate, but the XO fully intended to take this opportunity to celebrate.
And besides, she sat it on meetings often. She considered it to be a good way of getting the pulse of her station.
She strode into the security meeting room, with a purposeful gait.
"No snacks today, I'm afraid," she said with an affected apologetic tone to Ryah as she pulled up a chair. It was a longstanding habit of Judy's to bring some home-cooked goodies to meetings, but this time, she instead contributed a few home-baked New York-style pizzas, and an assortment of cakes; all in all, she (with help from her husband Max) had prepared what would be worth about five cheat days for Sven. She'd dropped it all off with Ryah earlier that morning, to join the rest of the menu.
The XO was conspicuous, with her thick spectacles and red uniform collar, and indeed security was not her natural home, but this was her crew and she loved them all the same.

|Meeting room, Deck S6 || lt. cmdr. Sven Aune|
It was the first time that Sven had donned the pips. He looked at himself in the mirror and felt a surge of pride. He had worked very hard for this promotion. And chief of security. That thought came with a mix of emotions. On one hand he was excited and again proud. On another he felt anxiety. Would he be able to run it as well as Ryah? She had done an amazing job cleaning up the place after Parsnip's mismanagement.
He left his quarters and made his way to the meeting room. Upon entering he say Ryah and Eastman-Williams were already there. He felt a bit awkward. Was he too early. He smiled to both and waved his hand in greeting.
"Good morning." he said. "How are you two doing?"

[Ensign Lila Rea - Deck S6 - Meeting Room]
Ensign Rea stood by the meeting room, shifting her weight between her feet, unable to stop moving. She was terribly nervous. She’d only just been assigned to the Mac and didn’t even really know why. It doesn’t matter why, she reminded herself. It’s Starfleet. They say go, you go.
Taking a deep breath, she smoothed her uniform. It was time.
She entered the meeting room, seeing she was among much higher officers. For a second, she debated leaving the room before she was noticed. But that was silly — of course she’d already been noticed. No leaving now. Time to be brave.
“Good morning,” she said to the other officers. “I’m, uh, new to the Mac. Ensign Rea.”

[Ens. Phoebe Volante - Deck S6, Meeting Room] Phoebe held her PADD down to her side as the doors to the meeting room opened. She took a deep breath to steady her nerves, strode into the room and glanced around. Her heart sank when she saw the three higher ranking officers. She was always nervous when the superiors outnumbered her, she always felt like she was about to be scolded for something. Then she saw another ensign stood, looking as nervous as Phoebe felt. She strode up next to the ensign, nervously smiling as she travelled. Turning to face the officers, her nervous smile locked in place, "Ensign Volante, newly assigned to the station. I look forward to working with you." She turned her head towards the other ensign and leaned down slightly, "I haven't missed anything have I?"As she stood there, still looking at the officers, she noticed that the Lt. Cmdr. was the same height as her. She let her nervous smile become slightly more relaxed and genuine as it meant she wasnt going to stick out quite as much as she had done at the academy. Especially since the man seemed to be approximately as wide as he was tall. Was there really any crime in a place where someone this sized was on security? Ozu Saya Judith Eastman Sven Aune Lila Rea

[ LT(JG) Joshua Niles - Meeting Room - Deck S6 - Front Ear Station ]One always welcomed some rest after a deployment. And Mac, with the benefit of having only a fairly limited area of operations, could return to the Front Ear every few weeks. Of course they could stay out practically indefinitely, but it would seem the command team had considered the notion to avoid overextending people if it could be avoided. And besides, there were always crew transfers and movement going on. The regimen of training and varied employment to help in cross-training was a good one at this particular station, and a certain Tactical Officer had welcomed it. Breaking the routine was a good training method, especially for enterprising young officers. And in this case, there was a legitimate celebration to deal with, the promotion of Mister Aune to proper senior rank. Answering to a senior Chief as head of security on the station had been somewhat different for Niles and having an actual officer in that slot was... comforting in its familiarity. Not that Chief Melinh had not been a more than adequate departmental head, of course. And given just how many things he hadn't been prepared for when he was assigned to the ragged end of nowhere, this was a change he could most definitely live with. When he came in, though, his eyes glued to a PADD as he was reviewing the state of the station's torpedo systems, he had to check his pace and quickly change directions before barreling into a pair of wide-eyed Ensigns who seemed to be quite ill-at-ease. Was I ever that lost, he found himself wondering, then chuckled. Of course he had been, what with having time on station measured in months, and being little more than half a year from having commissioned from the Academy himself. Slowing down next to them, he came to a stop. "Ensigns, I know this might be difficult to believe, and if Commander Eastman, among others, overheard this she would be thinking it's really rich coming from me... but relax, no one's going to get chewed out, and around here, barring something really serious, getting reamed happens behind closed doors, not in public." And, with a smile to them, he made for the man of the hour, and extended his hand. "Commander, congratulations on the promotion."

[Charlie Fox - Security Offices, Deck S6]Tasked with covering the momentous passing of the torch within Front Ear's Security department, Charlie approached the offices, her ponytail swinging and holorecorder following just behind her shoulder. According to Spil, her Vulcan editor, this was what he considered a "human interest" story; something that the denizens of the Station would enjoy hearing about. "Make them feel like the Security personnel are members of our extended family", was what he'd said. Naturally, Charlie's response had been a snort of amusement and a request for a raise, which had been denied. And it would have been a pretty straightforward assignment if not for the very smug-looking Ensign Whelan manning the front desk. As Charlie stepped into the suite of offices and approached, she recognised the young man she'd badgered outside Harmon's office a few weeks previous. She stowed the grimace she felt and instead tried to plaster on a pleasant smile. She didn't even try to hide the surprised part of the expression. "Ensign, hiii," she drawled brightly before coming to a stop at his desk. She was in his domain now. "How have you been?""I wouldn't know, Miss Fox, would I? According to you I don't have any thoughts on anything.""Yeah..." Stumped. "Look Whelan, I'm really sorry about that. I didn't mean it, I was just having a really bad day. My cat... he, um, ate my lucky shirt? I'd spilled some ketchup on it the night before. Danté loves tomatoes. So yeah, I've had it since college. So he ate it, and then he was really sick and puked all over the place and then a portal opened-"The Ensign's expression sharpened and he cut her off. "Enough, Fox. What do you want?" Charlie felt some sense of relief that he'd stopped her, for the tale might have taken a turn into the bizarre. "I'm covering the Big Guy's promotion for FNN.""Sit over there. Stay out of the way. I'm watching you.""Kinky." With a winning grin, she saluted Ensign Whelan and moved over toward a chair in the waiting area. "I'll be good, I promise!"The look he gave her was withering, then he turned away and pretended she didn't exist. He tapped a couple of things on his very important computer and then coughed to clear his throat. Then coughed again. Then some colour rose to his cheeks and he licked his suddenly dry lips. =/\= "Sirs." His voice cracked as he spoke to the important people inside the meeting room. He cleared it once more - third time's the charm - and continued, "The hack from the network is here." =/\=

[ Kova Sh'qaleq - Meeting Room, Deck S6, Front Ear Station] As the doors of the turbolift opened, the Andorian stepped out and began to move down the corridor to her destination. She wasn't certain why her attendance had been requested. In some ways, it felt like salt being rubbed in an old wound. Why? Well, as soon as the doors parted, Kova had an overwhelming urge to find all the exits. From wall to wall, it seemed to be filled with security personnel. There were quite a few that Kova didn't work with: for starters, there was the fresh meat. Somehow, newcomers just seemed to stand out. The pair of women appeared to have been briefly approached by the junior grade lieutenant that typically worked tactical aboard the Mac. Kova hadn't had many run-ins with him, mainly considering the amount of time he spent aboard the Mac and she didn't. The same could have been said for that pushy little Caitian that was currently covering the Promenade office. The room wasn't limited to only gold shirts. There was also Commander Eastman. If ever there was a gathering, the chances of finding the Executive officer there was significantly higher. And there was at least one non-uniform that caught Kova's eyes on the way in: the reporter, Fox. From what Kova knew of the woman, she could find trouble or it seemed to find her. One thing was certain, she should never be out of material to write about. It seemed that Whalen wanted to actually guard the door and keep her out. The Andorian wondered why wasn't lucky enough to be trapped on the other side of that door. The Andorian skirted the corners of the room, not really looking to engage with anyone. It seemed to be the default unless Sorrin was ever lurking about and simply trying to piss her off, the haughty little Vulcan. Then again, what Vulcan wasn't. Her eyes settled on a few more familiar faces, such as Chief Melihn and the newly minted Lt. Commander Aune. It seemed to be quite the fuss over the changing of the guard where the mantle of Chief of Security was concerned. Finding a bare wall to perch upon, Kova folded her arms and leaned against it, as she stared out at the others. She suspected there'd be some sort of speech to snooze off to, and human invention that was the bane of her existence: small talk. Kova had been a great deal more tolerable of small talk back in her Academy days. Though, it seemed time in a penal colony had a way of changing one's perspective. Taking a deep breath, her mind pondered a few things until this shindig got underway: Slilick's operation... her upcoming travel plans... and why the hell the holodecks on this station were more like torture chambers.

[ Senior Chief Melihn Ryah - Meeting Room - Deck S6 - Front Ear] Ryah gave the first officer a secretive smile when the woman came in without her usual offering of goodies. She schooled her expression when Sven arrived and gave him a nod. Not bad, she answered. I'll make my business brief so you can take over the rest of the meeting. I just want to wrap up a couple of ongoing issues. She smiled at the new ensigns and beckoned them away from the door. Ensigns, welcome! Come on in and find a seat. There's no rank order at morning briefing. Then the ensign on door duty called. Ryah rolled her eyes and tapped her badge to reply, =/\= Have her come in in about five minutes, please. =/\= The FNN wanted to do a piece on your promotion. Charlie Fox is is going to get some footage of the official handover, she whispered to Sven. Ryah was a little surprised to see that Kova had actually come. The Andorian must like Sven better than she let on. She grinned at Kova. I think most of us are here, Ryah said, raising her voice to cut through the chatter of small groups. I just want to take care of a couple of thiings, and then we have an official announcement to make.

[Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - Meeting Room, Deck S6]Judy tried her best not to look intimidating to the trickle of new, very new, officers coming in. The gentle smile and relaxed posture, natural for her, were a counterweight of sorts to her three gold pips. After Ryah spoke, she added in her own bit. "For those of you I haven't had the pleasure to meet yet, I'm Commander Judy Eastman, your First Officer. I'm mostly here to observe, but also to announce that we've managed to secure new furniture for the Security offices, which will be coming in over the coming weeks. Consider it a housewarming gift for your new Department Head," she said briefly. Sometimes, it was these little things that counted. Judy always made sure she got her crew everything they needed to do their work, but sometimes she went above and beyond that for more minor comforts, like furniture. It was all a function of her care for the crew.

[Crewman Layne Bira - Meeting Room - Deck S6 - Front Ear]
Adapting to her new life was, well...routine at this point. Stability was fleeting at best and she liked to think she could roll with the punches just fine. She could make do with what life dished out, right? She always had and always would. Everything was fine. So far at least. No one really called her out on her prior military service, and subsequent court martial. Perhaps that was just classified or no one had thought to dig very deep. She knew without a doubt the commander knew and she supposed with the big guy here taking over the reigns of her department he would read her file as well. Once that occurred, things could radically be changing once again; it was too soon to tell.
No, she hadn’t really gotten an engraved invitation to this morning’s briefing, but she showed up anyway. If having a 'grunt' in the room was an issue she was certain someone would let her know right away. Until such an event occurred, it was better to apologize later than to ask and be denied.
So far things were going well enough. No one had left a gunpowder flash bang in her bed, so she couldn’t really complain. Only, well unless you considered… things weren’t very secure around here. Her eyes took note of the reporter lurking around the door as she entered the meeting room and she inwardly sighed. What was the press doing here?
Moving inside, she circled round behind those gathered to put her back to a wall as she viewed those assembled. Bira supposed no one would be stupid enough to attack such a gathering but then wouldn’t it get rid off a lot of problems to get rid of all of them at once? Although safety was not as fleeting in her life as it had been back on Davonia, she had a hard time not letting her sense of danger run out of control. No one was going to attack them; she knew this to be true. 'Even so', she thought as her eyes scanned the room, 'you never knew.'
Hearing the First Officer speak, Bira’s eyes went round at mention of new furniture having been ordered. Blinking a bit, she turned her face away so as to hide her expression all the while thinking, ’no one would waste a bomb on a gathering like this with such weighty topics of discussion on the agenda like redecorating the office.’ She wondered what was wrong with the old furnishings and tried not to be so damned judgmental. Surely something of importance would be announced here today.

|Meeting Room, deck S6 || lt. cmdr. Sven Aune|Ryah had made her initial announcement, pending more information and blushed under his beard when she commented on his new pip. Sven felt even more awkward. He wasn't normally one to be the center of attention in such a formal setting. He smiled as he saw the two new ensigns enter into the room and gave them each a nod. Then Josh approached and offered a hand. Sven took it in his own and gave it a firm shake. "Thanks man. I really appreciate it." he leaned in, "but I had no idea I was supposed to make some sort of speech!" he make a grimmacy face. "And it's being publicized. Yikes."Eastman made an announcement, and he was surprised that they were getting new furniture. The old stuff from the Parsnip Era was....questionable at best. But they made due. They had just a couple of minutes left. "How's the Mac?" he asked Josh while walking to take a seat. Tag Joshua Nilessoft tags Ozu Saya, Judith Eastman, Lila Rea, Phoebe Volante

Surely something of importance would be announced here today. [ Cwm Eliska Bremmer - Meeting Room, Deck S6, Front Ear Station ]There were so many things Eliska could be doing at this time. She had drawn an armoury watch, and she had a list of small arms she had to go over, and if necessary do first-line maintenance and repair on, and send those she couldn't fix herself to the second line armorers. Generally speaking, she preferred patrol duty but a day in the weapons locker was a nice break from that routine once in a while. In fact, she had a week of armory duty to look forward to, and not all of it fixing phasers. A nice interlude of working civilized hours rather than rotating watches. Hell, maybe she'd even catch up with that kid James at the gym at some point... And now she had to attend this mandatory meeting in the Boss' honour... and it would seem that the XO decided she would grace them all with her presence. Hanging at the back of the room, she quickly spied one of the very few very junior people present, and she made her way towards her before leaning up against the bulkhead, practically shoulder to shoulder, just as Eastman started talking about furniture of all things. Really? Those Federation types, they didn't know how good they had it! What they had was perfectly functional. Maybe a little wonky and sometimes uglier than sin, but it did the job. But no, resources had to be expended to get new stuff. With a sigh, she looked to the other Crewman, and she grinned. "Hey, Layne, how goes?" she asked. "You know something I always wondered? What is it with the higher ups always wanting to great big productions for stuff that could just go out in a memo? I don't know about you, but I have a whole rack of rifles that needs to be looked over."

[ Crewman Layne Bira - Meeting Room - Deck S6 - Front Ear] Bira noticed Cwm Bremmer survey the room before locking eyes on herself and heading over in her direction. It was not the sort of thing she dreaded, however, the way you hoped to be small and go unnoticed and wishing to be invisible when the creepiest dude at the party was looking for a place to land. The Bajoran rather liked Eliska for she seemed to have a certain practical sense about her that many people lacked. She didn’t know the woman’s life story or anything but she could tell that she had not grown up spoiled; Bira figured she was from some colony outpost on the edge of yesterday where you learned the value of work. Someplace safe, that is, for the young woman didn’t have the look of somebody scarred by war or true hardship but you never really knew. Her eyes, however, didn’t have the look of the war torn. As Eliska passed in front of her, Bira slightly widened her stance and moved her hands behind her back encircling her left wrist with the thumb and forefinger of the right in a passable imitation of parade rest. It only served to exaggerate the six inch difference in their heights to the point Bira seemed to tower over the younger woman. She turned her head to look down at her, but the grin spreading across her features destroyed any semblance of intimidation she might be projecting. ”A whole rack, did you say?”, the woman uttered before pursing her lips in a manner that indicated she was very impressed. ”After the grand ceremony when we can get back to meaningful employment, care to swap jobs?”The corner of her mouth quirking upward made it impossible to take the woman seriously but in truth Bira would have taken over Eliska’s weapons detail for a whole month to get out of her speaking engagement. It must have been ‘pick on the new girl week’ because she had been roped into appearing as a guest speaker in the children’s class room for disaster preparedness week. Each day she had to have a new topic to speak to the kiddies on and those preschoolers were a grueling and unforgiving audience. It wouldn’t have been all that bad, she supposed, but all her best survival topics had been deemed too adult in nature. It was just a bit hard for her to sell a bunch of children on the necessity of washing their hands when what they really needed to know was how to survive on their own, to make weapons out of rudimentary materials, and how to build a fire and shelter in place. Giving a slight shrug she turned her eyes back toward their new Chief and the old one presiding over the meeting. ”Any idea why Chief Petty Officer Melihn is stepping down?”, she inquired softly of her diminutive companion.
