[ Commodore Calvin Perry - Ten Forward] Perry thought that Baker and Quinn were going quite a bit overboard in their solicitation to the Primary, but he wouldn't cause Starfleet problems by scoffing about it aloud. He'd fight tooth and nail against an order he disagreed with, but once past a certain point, it was counterproductive to continue rocking the boat. So he'd go along until things fell apart. And then he was having to repeat, discipline, discipline, discipline, to himself as the Primary informed them that he expected an apology before the negotiations could proceed. The commodore clenched his teeth and rocked his jaw behind closed lips as he considered and discarded any number of responses that would have caused an interstellar incident. Finally he settled on a change of subject. We should avail ourselves of this feast. Is there anything you'd like to try, Primary? There, that was as diplomatic as he could manage through repressed anger. [Lt. Isaiah Quinn - Ten Forward, USS Mac ] It was quickly becoming apparent that the only opinion that seemed to matter was that of Primary L'Sho's. Isaiah glanced momentarily over at Thea, whom he seemed to be in perfect concert with. As far as Commodore Perry was concerned, it seemed that he didn't care very much for L'Sho's opinion. Still, the Commodore managed to maintain his composure, not allowing L'Sho to get the better of him. In fact, the pivot to the feast was actually a welcome change of pace. It was rather timely, as it seemed that L'Sho still harbored some resentment to the way the Talorians had been painted as villains and murderers by some of the Federation publications. And his insinuation that an actual apology was warranted before any fruitful talks could proceed was going to be a tough one to pull off. In all honesty, it was more than likley that he would receive an apology in the midst of the negotiations, but to ask for one before they even began? What about an apology on behalf of his people to those families that had lost their loved ones? Isaiah's own lips had parted as he was about to speak, but it was then that Perry's redirection to the meal had been cast. The science officer simply sighed, glancing once more in Thea's direction. He was beginning to wonder if these talks had been doomed from the beginning. Isaiah's eyes scanned the room once more, falling upon Princess Elana. She was still in the company of Crewman T'Karra and Ensign Volante, and the trio appeared to be... doing shots? His elbow subtly nudged Thea. While the two security officers appeared to be making more headway with the Princess, Quinn only hoped that she'd be somewhat sober throughout the reception. [Primary L'Sho - Ten Forward, USS Mac]The Primary felt as though he was getting an excellent read on his hosts throughout the course of this event, and their exchanges. The Commodore seemed rigid; L'Sho thought his displeasure was right there, just below the surface, and beneath that an anger. But the man did not let it overcome him. Instead, he redirected the flow of conversation to more neutral ground - the lazy choice. The Lt. Quinn seemed much more composed; control was easier for him, it seemed. Perhaps he would present a challenge, or perhaps he was just spineless. And the Commander, all signs pointed toward her being a people pleaser. Primary L'Sho suspected that if he announced their footwear offended him, that she'd order them all to remove their shoes. He went along with Perry. "I would like to sample whatever it is you consider a favourite," he said in response. His interest was feigned, but he hid his boredom. The most interesting elements of this gathering was not the food, or the Federation, rather it was the many conversations that his people had initiated with relative strangers. He kept a watchful eye on Kaelpra and Relan. Once he saw them disengage, he would make a promise to himself to retire early.
Exit Primary L'Sho. [ Commodore Calvin Perry - Ten Forward] Perry was grateful that the Primary was willing to be distracted by the food. He did recommend a couple of his favorite dishes, including pan-fried scallops, which he'd been a little surprised to see himself. He'd left the food decisions to others, knowing that he couldn't contribute much in that area. The commodore wondered if someone had taken the time to find out one of his favorite foods or if it was a coincidence. ~~~~~~~~~~ [0700 - CO's Quarters --> Deck 12] Perry set his knife on the edge of the plate containing a half-buttered English muffin and several slices of bacon. He wiped one hand down his face, rubbing hard at tired eyes. That was not the type of call he wanted to receive so early in the morning. Especially after having not slept half the night, despite the fact that the reception had ended relatively quietly. He was going to have to have a word with a couple of people, but nothing too serious. =/\= Acknowledged, Crewman. On my way. =/\= Perry took a quick gulp of his hot coffee and snagged the bacon in a napkin, scarfing it down as he hurried down the corridor. A brief turbolift ride later and Perry was confronted with the same security lockout as poor Petty Officer Som. That didn't bode well. The commodore entered his command codes and strode through the doors. He had no difficulty identifying his summoner, one of the new security crewmen, but he certainly didn't understand why she was standing at attention in the middle of a blank bulkhead. Report, he said briskly.

[USS Mac, Deck 12 Corridor] Oh great, it hadn't even been five minutes and attention was already being called to the area. Tapping her com badge, Jovireh replied swiftly before anyone else could add to the confusion. "There's been an incident. This deck will remain sealed until otherwise ordered by Commodore Perry. I advise you spend the day elsewhere, ma'am." Oh yes, an incident. That was the biggest understatement of her entire life. Panic began to rise in her chest once more, but she fought it back as best she could. She needed to keep her head. This is what she trained for, right? Not in the slightest. Hearing the Commodore's sharp voice from the end of the corridor, she turned towards him, still at attention. Though her face began to pale several shades as she realized that she would have to tell him everything... And he had absolutely no reason to believe a word of it. "I swear, I just found him like this, sir..." Her voice wavered as she spoke, betraying her struggle to hold herself together. Turning back to the panel she'd been blocking, she removed it and stepped aside to reveal the body within. Jovireh kept her gaze on the wall as she did so however, and swiftly positioned herself so she wouldn't be able to see inside. The image was already burned into her mind, and would likely haunt her dreams. She didn't need a third glimpse.

[Ens. Phoebe Volante - Personal Quarters - Bed] Phoebe slowly awoke from her slumber, an action her head did not like and rebelled against with throbbing pain. She pulled one hand out from under her sheets and pressed it on her head, it felt like she had been drinking against a Klingon the previous night. Though her memory failed to confirm or deny such a possibility. Whatever the case it must have been one hell of an after party. The woman slowly forced herself to sit up, trying not to anger her brain any further. A sudden chill made her realise she was not wearing her usual nightwear, odd. A noise next to her caught her attention, there was someone else in the bed with her. At least that explained the clothes, shame the alcohol meant Phoebe couldn't remember anything past the reception. Looking to the stranger in her bed, it took a moment for the haze to leave her bleary eyes and recognise them, "Hello Princess." She spoke in a hushed tone to keep from aggrivating her hangover, " You appear to be in my quarters. And my bed no less. I'll get something for us to drink."Phoebe climbed out of bed and shuffled her way to the replicator, "Two sugar waters. Cold." The woman groaned as the noise ran through her like an electric shock. Once the Replicator had finished it's sonic assault, Phoebe took the two glasses and handed one to Princess Elana, "This will help you feel better." She sat on the bed next to the Princess, her barely functional brain yet to grasp the situation she was in. Thea Baker (princess) [ Princess Elana - Phoebe's Quarters] Where was Lesal and Ostat and why weren't they answering her?, Elana though as panic began to set in. If L'Sho found out that she wasn't in her arranged quarters, it would likely give the Primary further leverage to use against her and the traditionalists. No this was very bad and the Princess could just imagine the look of vindictive glee on L'Sho's face if she didn't get moving. However her body had other ideas as it still refused to move when she wanted it too. Although that seemed the least of her worries when a voice answered her plea for help and Elana realised who it belonged to. The first question was how had she ended up in Pheobe Volante's bed with no memory of doing so?. It wasn't as if she was ashamed of expressing her sexuality as it wasn't uncommon for Talorians to experience multiple partners. But they usually did so with a clear recollection of events and Elana shuddered at the thought of the potential scandal at the idea of sleeping with a Bataq. For what felt like an eternity, Elana tried to process everything, willing herself to remember as Phoebe spoke of getting them both a drink. Her worst fears confirmed at the fact that Phoebe was also devoid of clothing. All of their hard work to ensure that the old ways didn't die, despite the plight that had plagued their food source and now. Elana had to think and maybe just maybe this was just some misunderstanding as Phoebe handed her a glass of water. Finally finding her voice as she managed to sit properly and take a drink. " I hope so Phoebe Volante, then I must return to my quarters before they come searching for me. I can't risk L'Sho finding me like this as the implications are too great ... not that I can remember anything after leaving the reception".

[Ens. Phoebe Volante - Personal Quarters] Phoebe let out a content sigh as some moisture began to return to her mouth, "I can't remember either. We definitely had too much to drink." She held the cold glass against her forehead to try and quell the throbbing, "Hopefully, the memories will return and we will know how much we drank." She turned and glanced over the Princess, "And what we did too." She took another sip, followed by another content sigh, "Be a shame if we forgot anything good."The Princess mentioned getting back to her quearters and not wanting to be missed, "Ah, yes, good idea Your Highness. But first, clothes. Then I'll escort you back." Phoebe finished her drink before getting up and walking back to the replicator, placing the empty glass inside to be recycled. She turned as she looked around the room for their clothes, "Huh, do you remember where you left your dress?" Phoebe's could only see her own dress uniform, "Perhaps we should replicate you something for the sake of speed?" She walked over to the drawers by the bed and leaned down to fetch her own uniform from them, " If you find a design you like just give it your measurements and we'll be good to go." She flashed the Princess a smile, hopefully it was convincing enough to cover the pain using her brain like a drum. Thea Baker (princess)

Thea Baker (princess) [ Princess Elana - Phoebe's Quarters] As Phoebe Volante confirmed that she also couldn't remember what happened but that they had too much to drink, a vague recollection of cocktails emerged in the Princess's cloudy mind. Sometimes it was easy to forget that she wasn't just fun loving Elana anymore and yet her old self had definitely come out to play last night and yet wasn't sure if she wanted to memories to return or not, despite the Ensign's hope that they would. The fall out from what she had done was far more worrisome than enjoying the knowledge that she had enjoyed some carnal fun with an outsider. She didn't want to go back to the Grasslands not when she had become accustomed to the wealth and status of learning who she was even if her origins had been clouded in scandal, forcing her Mother to live off the land. " Yes, it would" Elana replied absentmindedly as she drained her glass, the cool liquid helping her immensely and making her feel less like a shrivelfig. When Phoebe then agreed with her need to return to her quarters and how they would need clothes to do so, before she would escort her. Elana had momentarily forgotten that minor detail after being so consumed about being found out. " Of course clothes" she repeated as she managed to drag herself off the bed, before Phoebe alerted her to the fact that her dress was missing and how she could replicate something instead. " I don't remember where it went but we must find it later .. and yes that sounds agreeable, I think I know how to use your replicators and what time is it?".Recognising the device that produced such wonderful and unique items, Elana walked slowly towards it, trying to keep the panic at bay at the thought of missing the breakfast feast. Focusing on the replicator helped somewhat as she settled on a long colourful dress that exposed her hips and shoulders. Once it had been produced, Elana slipped it on and was happy with her choice, despite it not being from her home world especially with the mix of blues and greens. Now she just had to concentrate on not being late and perhaps she could concoct a suitable excuse as to where she had been.

"A lovely choice, Princess. Now if only we could all dress so nicely." She smiled, trying to help calm Elana from the obvious panic attack that was mere moments away. The ensign glanced at the timepiece she kept on her bedside table, "It is 0715, Your Highness. Did you need to be somewhere this morning? Other than your quarters of course." Phoebe started towards the door, pausing before opening it, "Oh, I will have to report this to my medical officer, just in case we did... you know. But I'm guessing otherwise you would rather keep this our little secret?" She tapped the button to open the door and checked the coast was clear before turning back to Elana, "Shall we?" Oh, sh--Perry ran his and over his short hair. Even he, with only basic first aid knowledge, could tell that the Talorian was dead. =/\= Perry to Dr. Baker. Report to Deck 12 on the double. Bring a tricorder. You'll have to use security codes to exit the turbolift. =/\= Might as well let the doctor know the seriousness of the situation, even obliquely. Looking away from the staring eyes, Perry turned his attention to the security crewman. Crewman...Velal... He hesitated, hoping he'd gotten the name right. He was remembering more from her file as he looked at her. How did you come to find him? The Talorians had a breakfast thing this morning, didn't they? [Charlie Fox - Couch, Guest Quarters]Dream Charlie was running through a dark forest, a Talorian hot on her heels. "You cannot run forever, Charlie Fox," came Dream L'Sho's voice, annoyingly steady despite the physical exertion. She ignored him and kept sprinting toward the faint light she'd glimpsed through the thick trees, her white dress catching and ripping as she sped along. "You will feed my children for a week!" The sound of him smacking his lips echoed around her. "No! My organs belong on the inside!" She squealed in response to the monster, but his words had distracted her and she tripped over the exposed root of a tree. As the ground of the forest rushed up to meet her face, in real life, she fell in a tangle of limbs off the couch in the living area of her quarters and smacked into the floor. As the horrific noise of the doorbell stabbed her melting brain, she fought down a wave of nausea that could only mean one thing; she was in the waking world. And she was dying. Her head thumped, her eyes burned. "****ing bastard of a bloody ****sucker in the ****... - COME IN!" She was still sprawled on the floor, unable to bring herself to move. Her dress from the night before was still on her, one strap hanging down around her elbow, no longer the pristine white it once was. She managed to turn her head slowly toward the open door. "Kaya. Have you come for my funeral?"

The huge Talorian who was standing to attention behind the Primary stepped forward and leaned in toward him. "Discern the location of our missing friends. It is not like Kaelpra to be late."The burly bodyguard nodded and swept out of the room, surprisingly light on his feet despite his size. L'Sho returned to lounging on his chair.

[USS Mac - Deck 12 - Corridor] As the Commodore approached and looked inside the tube, she watched as his demeanor went from confusion to well-contained stunned horror. She envied his cool demeanor as he summoned the Chief Medical Officer over the com. He didn't seem inclined to drop the security seal, so she was grateful that she had taken the correct action in erecting it. Then his gaze focused on her, and she nodded to confirm his pronunciation of her name. When he asked how she had found him, her throat tightened a little more. "Yes sir. Kaelpra - the... victim... - invited me to join them, as I'd expressed an interest in learning more about their culture and language in a more casual environment. When he didn't meet me at the agreed time, I thought he might have gotten lost, so I went looking for him. I noticed the panel wasn't sealed properly, and when I opened it..." Four dieties that explanation sounded hollow, even to her. Taking a deep breath, she plunged on. "I know how this looks, sir, and I'll cooperate entirely. The Talorians... may... receive the news better, if you tell them you already have a suspect in custody." Was she seriously volunteering to be arrested for a crime she didn't commit? Yes, yes she was. But Jovireh knew she was right. The Talorians were more likely to let their guard down if they believed the investigation was not focused on them. And if they let their guard down, it would be easier to find who really killed him. She just prayed that actually happened before she ended up getting court martialed.

[ Lt (JG) Joshua Niles - Charlie's Quarters > Officers' Quarters > Bridge - USS Mac]
It was a very good thing that coffee was still permitted on the Bridge, for Niles had the largest travel mug he could replicate in his hand. Perhaps the rapid detox hypospray he'd used did wonders for his hangover and any lingering drunkenness, its side effects aside, it did very little for the poor quality of sleep one experienced when they had gotten to that state through overindulgence.
However, when he entered the the Bridge, the current officer of the watch stood up to greet him. "Good morning, Mister Niles," started the rather old-for-his-rank Ensign who had been in the center chair. "There's been a last minute change in scheduling during the night, and you have the watch for the time being. We are still on track to make our scheduled arrival at Argos Major, all systems are good, but we had a security incident that's just been reported; one of the Talorians was found dead on Deck 12; it's been sealed off, and the Commodore has been informed."
Getting bumped from one position to another when reporting for duty was nothing new for anyone who'd ever been on ship; there were always changing circumstances, and one learned to roll with the punches. However, one of those punches had come in more violently than the others. A murder? One of the Talorians? Now that by itself was something that could throw a wrench in their mission... and that was on top of what he needed to look into. But, it was already being handled at a higher level than him so it was out of his hands, and being officer of the watch meant he could start looking at the data Charlie had provided him without having to split his attention. "Very well, Ensign. You are relieved, I have the watch."
"Thank you Sir, have a good morning," was the reply that came from the Ensign before he made his way off the Bridge, ever so glad that dealing with such things as a murder 11 decks down was no longer his problem.
When Niles seated himself, it was not at the customary center seat that he sit himself down, but at the First Officer's station; frankly, he needed the console space at the time, and it would let him work on the log file that had been shared with him while he was overseeing the Bridge. But, before he started, he made sure to get the change of watch reports from every station to confirm all was well, or at least as was reported to him, and he took a quick look at the night's logs to know what had been happening, other than the murder, only to find that it had been a mostly routine night all right.
And with those basic obligations fulfilled, he bent his mind to the other task at hand.
Within a few keystrokes, his copy was being fed to the ship's computers to check for authenticity, and, after a lengthy pull from his coffee, he started entering data, searches and information requests in the system as quickly as they were coming to him. And when he was done with that process, he let the computer do its thing; he did not know how long it would take, but he expected it might be some time before everything he'd queried would return to him.
Just a general post!

Her friend had a jolly time, look of it. "No, but I'm jealous someone managed to squeeze a bit of fun out of that reception." Kaya set her PADD down and moved some things from a chair to have a seat, looking sharp and clean and fresh in her uniform. "Sir Doug and I spent it sulking in a corner," Kaya admitted. "You know him, right? I always feel he's about to ask me a riddle in exchange for magic pebbles." [Charlie Fox - Floor, Guest Quarters]Charlie pressed the heel of her palm into her too-hot forehead and cringed at the pain just eyeing Kaya's progress into her quarters was causing. "It was more of a rescue mission," she offered by way of apology, some memories of the night before returning, and making her wish she was still blissfully ignorant in the forest with Dream L'Sho. "I'd have whisked you away too, but I had my hands full with Josh."Kinky.Wait. They'd come back to her quarters, they'd opened that bottle of tasty fire, and she'd shown him the Diamond Dog's log. Hehe! Rhymes are fun. Then what? She closed one eye, thoroughly disgusted with the lighting, even though it was on a fairly dim setting, and wondered if knocking it off would help with the spinnies. "The dicky bow dude?" She asked at the mention of Sir Doug. "Yeah, I met him on the Orient Express, I think." She began the slow process of fixing herself upright, and groaned dramatically with each inch. "Did I miss anything good?"

[ PO1 Kaya Som | Deck 8, Charlie Fox's quarters ]After a few moments, the intensity of poor Charlie's human hangover became moaningly apparent. Kaya got up and replicated some water and crackers and set them on the coffee table, like she was leaving food for a woodland creature. Then she stood back. "I was actually going to ask you that. Deck twelve is locked down and - alright, sorry -" Kaya was trying to keep her voice down, and she probably ought to leave Charlie to her resurrection in peace, but... "- Niles was here last night? With you. In here. Together. Why." Charlie Fox

[ Princess Elana - Phoebe's Quarters, Deck 6] Phoebe Volante's attempt to calm her through complimenting her choice of attire would normally be well received by the Princess, who always wanted to look her best. That was until the Ensign informed her of the time and the panic began to rise within her once more. She was late for the breakfast banquet and there was no time for her to return to her quarters, retrieve the guards that she had dismissed and appear as though, everything was okay when it clearly wasn't. Terror clawed at Elana's insides as she tried to think, before Phoebe then mentioned something about reporting this to her medical officer, just in case they had and something about wanting to keep this a secret. If she wasn't in such a state of panic, Elana might of laughed or teased the Ensign but any desire to do so had left her. After an agonising few seconds and running through a number of excuses in her head. Elana looked at Phoebe, once the path was clear for them to leave. " If you must speak with your medical officer, please keep it discreet and promise not to let L'Sho or anyone know" she said, almost pleading for secrecy. " Although I have bigger concerns right now as I'm late for the breakfast banquet on .. deck 12, I don't have time to go back to my quarters, so Phoebe Volante, if you can take me there, I can say that you wanted to escort me after I got separated from my guards".
****************** [ Thea - CSO's Quarters, Deck 2] The temptation to go back to sleep had been strong for Thea but snuggling with her favourite person had won out instead. Sharing a bed with Isaiah always left her feeling content and happy and this morning was no different, especially in giving her the strength to oversee another day of ensuring that the Talorians were well catered for. However it seemed as though fate had other ideas as her commbadge chirped, before she heard the Commodore's voice ordering her to report to Deck 12 on the double and to not only bring a tricorder, but to also use her security codes to gain entry. This didn't sound good at all, especially as she knew that the Talorians were gathering on Deck 12 for breakfast. Untangling herself from Isaiah's embrace, Thea reached for her badge and quickly responded. =/\= Baker to Perry, acknowledged, I'll be there asap =/\=Channel closed, Thea got out of bed and looked to Isaiah as gathered a fresh uniform and rushed to put it on. " This doesn't sound good and I get the feeling that somethings happened to the Talorians, especially if Perry is asking me to bring a tricorder" she said, pulling on her undershirt and tunic. " I'll call if I need you, which is probably likely" she added as she leaned over to kiss him, letting the contact linger for a few moments. " I'll see you soon".Her goodbye was reluctant but depending on what she discovered when she reached Deck 12, that absence might not be for long. Still she blew Isaiah another kiss, then almost ran to her own quarters a couple of doors down to grab a tricorder and medkit, before getting into an available turbolift. [Corridor - Deck 12] The brief journey in the turbolift had allowed Thea the time to adjust her uniform and make herself look somewhat presentable without her usual morning coffee. Her hair was left loose, but there would be time to deal with that later as the lift finally came to a stop on the designated deck. Using her access codes, Thea then exited the lift and quickly found Commodore Perry along with Crewman Velal and ... her heart sank at seeing the exposed panel and who was inside it. " Commodore, Crewman .. I realise why you called me down here and once I've examined him, we can arrange for him to be taken somewhere more dignified" she said solemnly as she took out the tricorder and moved closer to Kaelpra's body. The bleep of the scanning device felt louder than normal but Thea ignored it as she took some preliminary scans, horrified by what she was seeing and wondering who would want to kill the Talorian Advisor. Of course the fall out from this was worrisome to say the least, especially with how fragile the relationship already was with the Talorians. " I'll need to run more detailed tests but so far, I can confirm that time of death occurred around 05:00 hours, I suggest we maintain the lockdown of this deck, so we can investigate properly, I'll call in Chief Quinn to assist as well".
