Early Life/Pre-Starfleet Career:
Born in Omaha Nebraska, his mother Winona died in child birth. His father was a career Marine. As a result, he was raised by his Aunt Claire. John lacked for nothing materially or psychologically. At age five his aunt moved them to Monterey Park California to a house his father had bought. He had a distant relationship with his father who was always stationed somewhere far off and was seldom home on leave. But he wrote his son weekly, letters John treasured. His father was killed in in the Battle of Wolf 395 while serving on the USS Saratoga when John was twelve. In High school he excelled in history, but had average grades elsewhere. Education - Before Starfleet Academy: 2366-2470 : Attended Mark Kepple High School in Alhambra, California. Graduated in the middle of the pack. 2370-2374: Attended the University of California at Los Angeles. Graduated with a Bachelors degree in History, his minor in Military Science, where he had further developed his infatuation with the Starfleet and it's history. Applied to Starfleet upon graduation.
Academy/Technical Academy: 2374, accepted to Starfleet and transferred to Starfleet Technical Services Academy, Security/Tactical training.

“Stryker.” The booming voice of Command Master Chief McKecney brought John back from his thoughts.
“Master Chief?” Came the immediate response.
“You got orders. Can’t say it’s a hot spot, or that you’ll be headed to one.” McKecney handed the PADD to John. “Been good to have you on board..” He stated offering his hand. “USS Mac has a need, you get to fill it, John.”
“Thanks Mac. They name this one after you?” He laughed. “Who knows, maybe I’ll get back this way.” Came the reply as the two shook hands. Starbase 285 had been home for the past three years and he had grown comfortable there, but now, he was transferring to the fleet, to a ship.
“As long as I’m here, you’ve got a place. Best get your gear, shuttle leaves in an hour. Fair winds and following seas, Stryker. ” The Senior Chief advised as he turned and headed out.

The hatch opened and Stryker, gear in hand, mounted the ramp and stepped inside. The pilot stood, leaning against the hatch frame.“Well, next stop, the Mac. Oh, from what I heard, good berth. So strap ‘er in, here we go.” He entered the flight control area and dropped into the pilots seat then ignited the shuttles engines.
John took a seat, being the only one on board, he had his choice. Eighty-nine, seemed like a life time away, as he slumped in the seat. Almost had a shooting war on that trip, almost. The craft lifted off and John Stryker leaned back determined to catch a nap.
