Chief Science Officer's Log - Post S2M1
Presently, Petty Officer S'Riia and I are en route to rendezvous with the Klingon Bird of Prey, Vek'Magh. One of their probes detected some sort of natural phenomenon that appears to exhibit what could be transwarp properties. It's on some planet just well within their borders. There are early rumblings that it could be Iconian in nature, that's what I've been asked to consult on, before the Federation commits extensive resources in this exploration with the Klingons.
[Lt. Commander Isaiah Quinn & PO1 S'Riia - Runabout Ambrosia ]
"Wait a minute," Isaiah began as he sat in the co-pilot's seat, "you've never been to Cait?"
"Why is that so hard to believe?! S'Riia said smiling. This was a conversation that she'd had more than once. Apparently, it never got old.
Isaiah exhaled as he tried to think of any other reason besides the obvious. "It's just that... we're so close," he finally managed to come up with, though he was pretty sure that the Caitian hybrid knew there was some reasoning left unspoken.
"I was born on Gideon and raised on Earth," S'Riia said. "I've never set foot on Cait. And if we're being honest, there are plenty of humans that have never set foot on Earth."
It was a valid point. Certainly one that he couldn't argue against. He conceded to her point nodding slowly. "You're right. You're absolutely right." His hand moved over his console and he nodded approvingly to himself seeing that they were making good time. "Looks like we're well ahead of schedule. We'll be at the rendezvous point a couple of hours before the Klingons. How shall we pass the time?"
"Lunch? Because gagh is not my favorite," S'Riia suggested.
It was then that an alert chimed. Isaiah's hands moved across the panel. "Looks like a general distress beacon from a commercial freighter," Isaiah said.
"We are the closest vessel. The Klingons aren't in range and there don't appear to be any Nyberrite signatures nearby either," S'Riia reported.
Isaiah sighed. They weren't equipped to render aid, but they couldn't turn a blind eye either. "Set course to intercept the freighter," Isaiah said. "I'll inform Front Ear of our change in plans, and alert the Klingons that we may be a little late and share our coordinates."

Chief Science Officer's Log - Post S2M1
It appears our routine mission to rendezvous with the Klingons will be anything, but routine. After detecting a distress beacon from a commercial freighter, we have altered course to intercept and render aid. Another vessel may be bettered equipped, especially if its a medical situation, but we're the only vessel in the vicinity.
[Lt. Commander Isaiah Quinn & PO1 S'Riia - Runabout Ambrosia ]
As S'Riia piloted the runabout to the new location, Quinn continued his attempts to raise both Front Ear and the Nyberrite Alliance. Thus far, he hadn't received any official reply. As the runabout dropped out of warp, a vessel could be seen still it's engines apparently inoperable. "It looks like she's running on minimal power," Isaiah said. "Life support is operable only in certain sections of the vessel. Inconclusive detection of life signs and it looks like comms may be down. They don't appear to be receiving our hails."
From her seat, S'Riia could feel some of the fur stiffen on the back of her neck. Her own hands raced along the panel before her. "I'm not detecting any weapons damage," she said. "Nothing that would explain the ship's condition." Her eyes rose to look out the porthole towards the vessel. "It's almost like they just turned the systems off."
Isaiah's eyes narrowed. How did the vessel get to be there? His thoughts didn't linger long before his station sounded with a proximity alert. "Watch out!" Isaiah said, but suddenly the runabout shuddered violently. The glow of the control panels flickered before everything quickly went dark. Isaiah attempted to activate his station, but it was dead. He left his seat to try another, but was met only with the darkness of runabout.
S'Riia had secured a torch and attached it to her wrist. She flashed it in Quinn's direction to help him navigate the darkened cabin. "What the hell happened?" she asked.
"Something shorted out all of our systems," Isaiah stated. "Most likely some sort of EM Pulse. But just before, the proximity alarm sounded."
"It could have been a cloaked mine. Once we were close enough, it de-cloaked and detonated," S'Riia surmised. "I think this is a trap." The Caitian security officer wasn't considering motives. Right now, what was needed was keeping Lt. Commander Quinn and herself safe. She immediately reached below her console for a phaser. Her ears twitching slightly at the sound of a transporter beam. "Commander!"
It was all she was able to get out as she turned around. A flash of light illuminated the cabin as a disruptor beam struck her directly in the chest, knocking the Caitian from her feet and onto the console. Her motionless body slid down the console and crumpled onto the floor. Quinn quickly charged towards the direction the light had originated from, but found himself struck by a second disruptor blast, enveloping his sight once again in total darkness as he fell to the deck unconscious.

Chief Science Officer's Log - Post S2M1
Apparently, no good deed goes unpunished. Our attempt to answer a distress call ended up being a trap. Petty Officer S'Riia and myself were taken captor. We have no idea where we are, who has abducted us , or even why. We're clearly at the mercy of our captors.
[Lt. Commander Isaiah Quinn & PO1 S'Riia - Unknown ]
Quinn slowly began to stir. He could feel himself lying on the deck. His eyes opened slowly, and he quickly began to recount the last of his memories. He reached up and touched his chest, still feeling the sting from that disruptor blast. He sat up, rather quickly and scanned his surroundings. He could see Petty Officer S'Riia sprawled on the floor as well, still unconscious. His hand searched for his comm badge, and quickly realized that it was missing. He turned over onto his knees and moved towards the Caitian security officer. "S'Riia?" he said softly as he reached to stir her by shaking her shoulder.
Instinct took over, as her tail wrapped around his wrist. S'Riia shifted onto her side, and her hands quickly grabbing a fistful of Quinn's uniform as if she were about to throw him. Though, recognition set in as she realized who he was. "Sorry, Commander," she said. She released him, and began to inspect their surroundings. She started to get to her feet. There was a bucket in the far corner, and a small bowl of water towards the center of the room. Other than that... there was nothing. No doors. No windows. Just four walls, approximately four meters by six meters."Have you seen anyone yet?"
Isaiah shook his head. "Only you. No one else," Isaiah said. "But I don't think we're alone either."
It was almost as if on cue, that one of the four walls disappeared. It seemed to shimmer from view. Had it been a hologram? What had replaced it was an opening, though beyond that opening was nothing more than darkness. Quinn, now on his feet as well began to move slowly towards it. He didn't even have time to hear the warning before it happened.
"Wait!" S'Riia said. It all happened so quickly, but as Quinn reached out to test the opening, he was met with a jolt rippling through his body. It forced him back and onto the deck. Clearly, they were in a cell of some sort, and he'd just found field keeping them in place. S'Riia was quickly at his side. "Are you all right, Commander?"[/font]
"I'm fine," he groaned as she helped him back up. "Just...."
His voice trailed off as something outside the cell caught his attention. S'Riia's eyes followed his gaze, and then she saw it as well. Yellow eyes... two pair, in the darkness. One of them seemed to take a single step closer, but both bore into the pair of Starfleet Officers. Quinn continued to stare back at them. He felt as if he should say something... demand their release... but he couldn't. His mouth slowly opened to speak, but... there were no words. He could hear this distant voice... it sounded like... his name, but he wasn't sure. And then, it came ringing clear.
"Commander Quinn!" S'Riia shouted. Her hands were on his arms, shaking the science officer. He blinked and shook his head before focusing his attention on her. "Are you okay?"
Quinn blinked, shaking his head. "Wha-- what happened?"
S'Riia shook her head. "I don't know. They showed up and you just... froze. It was like you were in a trance or something," the Caitian reported. Quinn shook his head. It all sounded so foreign. The pair looked back out of the cell. The yellow eyes were still there, but soon disappeared from sight as the fourth wall reappeared.
"What the hell is going on here?" he asked aloud. "Who are they?" They were all questions that neither he or S'Riia could answer. And truth be told, he doubted the answers would be of any real comfort.

Chief Science Officer's Log - Post S2M1
We didn't learn very much about our captives the last time they chose to reveal themselves. At best, we got yellow eyes. I can't offer much more than that, because I blacked out. Petty Officer S'Riia said that nothing more happened. They came no closer to the cell, nor did they say anything. It's been hours since they've said anything. At least... I think it's been hours. It feels like days. I have to wonder how long it will be before anyone even notices that we're missing.
[Lt. Commander Isaiah Quinn & PO1 S'Riia - Unknown ]
Isaiah exhaled as he stared at the wall. It was almost as if he believed staring at it would make it disappear as it had before. If the past few hours had been any indication, he should have his answer. His eyes finally shifted towards S'Riia. Her hands were going over every inch of the rear wall, searching for the slightest imperfection that they could take advantage of. Thus far, nothing had revealed itself. Suddenly, the silence in the cell was replaced with the brief whine of a transporter beam.
Isaiah and S'Riia both turned to face the trays that had appeared in the center of the room. It appeared to be some sort of mushy nutrient... protein in a bowl and a pair of clear water pouches. Isaiah moved to inspect it first. Kneeling down, he could see that it was some sort of protein. It seemed to be a tad raw for his tastes. He pushed the tray aside. As he looked up at S'Riia, she stood there with her hand covering her nose and mouth. Clearly, her olfactory senses were more sensitive to the odor.
"Are they trying to poison us?" she asked as she moved away from the tray.
"Anything is possible, but I think it's unlikely," Isaiah said. "If they wanted us dead, they could have killed us at any point they chose." It was true. This food was clearly an attempt to keep them alive. Though, looking at the food, it didn't seem they were herbivores, unless they were simply trying to anticipate the diets of S'Riia and Quinn. Still, while cater to the comfort of one's prisoners?
"I think I just lost my appetite," she said.
Isaiah nodded. "There's still the water," he said lifting one of the pouches and tossing it in S'Riia's direction. "However, before long, we may not have a choice. We have to keep our strength up."
S'Riia's brow furrowed. While she knew Quinn was right. She wasn't prepared to admit it. She owed it to her stomach to stand her ground for as long as she could.

Chief Science Officer's Log - Post S2M1
There was no way to know how long we'd been in that cell. It couldn't have been more than a day or two. I could tell that S'Riia was getting restless. And the stench of whatever they were trying to feed us was starting to fill the room. Another two helpings had been brought over the past hours. As rank as it smelled, it may actually have to be something we try before too long.
[Lt. Commander Isaiah Quinn & PO1 S'Riia - Unknown ]
S'Riia paced across the cell. Back and forth... back and forth... back and forth.... She was restless, and clearly not a fan of being cooped up in this cell. There were no windows... nothing. Just four solid walls, one of which seemed to be able to become transparent upon command... just not the command of the pair of Starfleet officers being held captive. However, it soon vanished without warning. The sudden disappearance of the wall stopped S'Riia in her tracks. Lt. Commander Quinn, whom had been leaning against the opposite wall, stood upright staring in that direction.
It still opened only to darkness, but there was something moving in the shadows. Soon, those yellow eyes appeared once more. Isaiah moved to stand next to S'Riia as one of their captors began to speak.
"You... do not have... the knowledge... we seek," said a low voice. He spoke slowly, actually speaking in English, a tongue that clearly wasn't his own.
"Knowledge?" Quinn repeated. "What knowledge are you talking about? We don't even know who you are, much less what you're looking for."
"Your... ignorance... annoys me," said the pair of yellow eyes once more.
"Then why don't you spare us the mystery and tell us who the hell you are?" S'Riia snapped back.
The next moment happened so quickly. He leapt from the shadows quickly, his furry, clawed hand wrapping around S'Riia's throat as he hoisted her nearly half a meter off her feet. His facial features appeared almost Caitian, but the rest of his body was nowhere near as lithe. Somehow, he came off as more feral. Snarling as his ears drooped into his mane. He snarled as he stared into S'Riia's eyes, who's clawed nails were futilely attempting to rip into the clawed hand that held her suspended in the air.
"I will not tolerate your tongue female!" he roared.
"Put her dow-- ahhh!"
Quinn had only managed a few steps before he felt a sharp pain in his head once more. He was unable to move any further. It was as if an ear-piercing scream had erupted in his head, threatening to burst from his skull to be heard by everyone else. He fell to a single knee. One of his hands was over his ear as the other reached towards S'Riia and the monster holding her. In a fluid motion, he slammed S'Riia's body onto the deck, with enough force to knock the half-Caitian out instantly. His cold, yellow eyes then turned towards Quinn, who was still struggling to reach his fellow officer.
"Tell your superiors... we... are... watching."
And just like that, darkness claimed Quinn once again, as he finally slumped to the deck fully unconscious.

Chief Science Officer's Log - Post S2M1
Petty Officer S'Riia and myself were found back aboard the Ambrosia by Colonel Vasser. Apparently, the Klingons sent word to Front Ear Station when we missed our rendezvous. The Colonel insisted on ferrying us back to the station, and having her medical officer examine us. S'Riia suffered a heavy concussion and a bruised vertebrae. Luckily, her Gideon heritage already seems to have her on the mend. I got off lucky, for the most part. I was diagnosed with some neuro-chemical imbalances, but mostly fine other than that. Dr. Bel shared my diagnosis with our own CMO. Thus far, the blackouts haven't reoccurred. Whatever happened to me was restricted to my time in captivity.
I have composed a report and submitted it to Captain Eastman. I'm sure that it'll likely be shared with Commander Harmon and Starfleet Command as they try to ascertain exactly who it was that abducted PO S'Riia and myself.
[Lt. Commander Isaiah Quinn & Captain Shryli Sh'tarrin - Science Lab, Front Ear Station ]
As Quinn stepped into the lab, he found a rather unexpected sight awaiting him. Instinct drew his eyes to her uniform. First, it was the color. Red, not blue. And then, it was the number of pips. Quinn eased further into the room, clearly confused. He didn't see captains in his lab very often... especially captains that weren't his own. "Can I help you, Captain--?" Quinn said as he moved closer.
"Captain Shryli Sh'tarrin[fn]Kova's sherya (egg-bearing mother)[/fn], USS Gorgon," said the Andorian woman as she introduced herself. "I apologize for ambushing you like this, however, your recent report found its way onto my desk." Sh'tarrin took a deep breath, pausing as if she had just recalled something. "How are you faring, Commander?"
Isaiah came to a stop in front of the woman. "I'm all right. Simply eager to get back to work," he responded.
"Then, I'll be brief," Sh'tarrin said, her demeanor quickly leaving the hint of empathy that had laced her question. "In your report, you mentioned your subordinate was in danger. You said that you moved to help, but froze. Was it out of fear?"
Isaiah's brow furrowed. "Excuse me?" he asked, making no attempt to hide his annoyance about the question.
"Were you afraid? Petrified? she asked. "I happen to know a thing or two about freezing, Commander. I don't think the you were referring to some sort of climatic event in your report."
Isaiah shook his head. "I'm sorry, ma'am, but, does Captain Eastman know about this interview?"
Shryli didn't entertain the question. "Moving along then," she said as she pressed a few keys on a nearby pad. "Did your captors look like this?"
Isaiah was about to protest further until he saw the image. His eyes widened at the image of the large, burly felonoid. It's yellow eyes and drooping ears. It's menacing fangs and the look of ferocity on its face.
"I'll take that as a yes," Shryli said. She pressed another button and the image disappeared from view. "Thank you for your time, Commander." The Andorian pivoted on her foot and turned to take her leave. She had just made it to the door when Quinn called after her.
"Captain? Who are they?" he asked simply.
The Andorian looked over her shoulder at the scientist. "The Kzinti."
Isaiah recognized the name, but certainly hadn't seen one before. At least, not before he and S'Riia had been captured. "The Kzinti? We were nowhere near their territory. Why were they targeting us?"
Shryli nodded with only a slight smile. "Those are the very questions I'm going to find answers to. Good day, Commander." And with that, the Andorian captain left the lab and the scientist to his own thoughts.
