[Delirium, Promenade — the evening after this] He waited inside Delirium—the club as much as an unbearably ecstatic hope— with every atom of him trembling. If the day was real and Ic was real within it, he was certain he’d turn to sound and color at these velocities; he was not certain he hadn’t already. Nerves welled in his throat and chest, vibrant within the synthesizer. They tingled in his fingertips, like light. They bloomed in his cheeks, new shades of pink. In the beat and in the bass, in the black of his outfit and the color of his eyes affixed upon the door, he waited. Ic Arbrell had never been on a proper date. Given the circumstances, though, he wasn’t quite sure how he felt. He only knew that he did, and with radical excess. The crowd of sensation within and without obscured from his ken the space to put his finger on it; the rest of him, obscured from clear view by a pillar, could not figure out how to tame the smile from his face. And that was probably because he didn’t want to. Even if this was too good to be true (and how couldn’t it be?), he might never forgive himself if he worried away what could have been the best day of his life. He’d too often allowed desire to destroy him, but tonight belonged to a little bliss first, no matter the cost. Fingers drummed on the counter as he watched the entrance from his place at the bar, and prayed, prayed, prayed that Shavan had not played him for the fool he was. His pulse skipped in a flash of black on teal at the door, and he adjusted the crisp hem of a dark sleeve, thin silver rings flashing with readiness for what was now to come. A grin grown from a subtle smile followed quickly behind, and restless fingers formed a shy and twinkling wave. (At least he'd shown up.)

[ Shavan Th’zhaar - Delirium] When Shavan entered Delirium, it was without many expectations… except, of course, looking forward to a bit of fun. The dim, colorful lights fell on the crowd in the entrance, briefly dancing across his own form-fitting black clothing as he moved further into the club. The music pulsed, loud and inviting; but first, there was someone he had meant to meet. His gaze scanned the area, and was soon drawn to the small flash of silver in the wave from the bar. He was pleased to see that Ic was already there… and had dressed up rather nicely. Leaning against the bar next to him, Shavan greeted the Betazoid with a faint smile. “Hey there.” When the bartender came close, he glanced up just long enough to order a drink. “Saurian brandy.” Then turned back to Ic to see what he was having. [Delirium, Promenade] “Samarian sunset, please,” he requested without ever glancing away, almost breathless under Shavan’s dark eyes. It might have been a frilly drink compared to Saurian brandy, but he liked what he liked— and he wasn’t about to risk making a weepy fool of himself tonight. At least, not if it went well. And if it didn’t? He’d try a whole shot of Romulan ale to forget. And when the bartender left them to themselves amid the music, Ic took most of the moment just to look. At least, he thought he did. Time flowed differently around teal skin, as if trapped, as if filtered, or maybe forgotten entirely in Orion pheromones, and Ic along with it. In reality, three seconds elapsed before the skipping of his heart remembered its usual beat. He didn’t know what to say. Thanks for coming? Are you sure you’re okay with this? Wouldn’t you rather spend the time with Kova instead? Don’t worry, I won’t keep you if this is just a pleasantry, I wouldn’t want to hang out with me either? Hi? Ic fidgeted with a ring, and shifted on his feet. If he had moved a little closer to Shavan, he wasn’t going to be the one to take responsibility for it. That was the ground’s fault, or maybe a slip against the bar. Just ever so slight. Ah— “So, um. Was this what you had in mind earlier, when you said you’d show me how to have fun?”

[ Shavan Th'zhaar - Delirium] “Something like that,” Shavan confirmed with an enigmatic smile, then raised the glass to his lips without looking away from Ic. He generally felt no need to dull the mood with 'small talk’, and trusted that Ic wouldn’t be there if he didn’t want to be. The welcoming burn of the strong liquor slid down his throat as he took in his companion for the night; attractive, cute features, with deep black eyes that matched the black of his outfit. Shavan didn’t fully know what to make of his demeanor, but the subtly growing confidence since they had first met up that morning suited him. Or maybe it was simply due to the fact that they were no longer in Kova’s presence, which others seemed to regard as an… acquired taste. He noticed Ic shift closer, but instead of taking a step back, Shavan subtly leaned forward to match. “Of course, I’m open to other suggestions... but the night's just getting started,” he continued in a slightly playful tone. Though after how the rest of that morning had gone, he didn't think he’d be disappointed. Ic Arbrell

[Delirium, Promenade] From behind the golden blooming drink like a blush, he stirred within, feeling himself noticed. The sensation was new to him, like the rest of this, and all unequivocally thrilling. To think this was probably just another night for Shavan would sting more tomorrow, but for now, down it went with liquid fission. He caught two things from the orbit of his date’s errant thoughts: the lieutenant wasn’t interested in small talk, and he liked this… color on Ic— a shade he played in fantasy for the last two weeks since glimpsing him, but never expected to dare. The Betazoid warmed to approval, though guilty for it— he recalled all too well the dark mood exchanged for a slip of his Knowing, that had him believe this night would never be. In mental simulations of the date, there were chances it still wouldn’t. The rest of the sunrise would take his chances of those mistakes, and undoubtedly replace them with stupider things. Ic could already almost hear his mother’s nevers, but in Shavan’s presence, he would have to stop listening. Never, never—He was encouraged, yet, to dare under the influence of a mood. Ic reached out to touch him now. One finger led in, softly perched against a shoulder, as the others slowly curled to hold in a grip like feathers. His body still remembered the morning’s momentary enchantment, attuning in tune to him, for the team’s chance to win. It had been worth it for that, but the memory haunted his nerves. He moved in closer, under pretense of fixing a perfect collar. “It is, isn’t it?” he said, though it failed the tone of the velvet purr he aimed for, instead falling somewhere in satin. “So, show me what you’ve got for me now, and I’ll have my own suggestions later.”( Gods help him, but how he liked this.)

[ Shavan Th’zhaar - Delirium] An amused smirk crossed Shavan’s lips as Ic responded exactly the way he wanted. His gaze flickered briefly down to the arm reaching for his collar, before his own hand slid down to rest on Ic’s waist. Leaning into the contact, he took in the details of the Betazoid's face and the way the light moved across it, enticingly close to his own. “Oh, I will.” He pulled back just enough to pick up the glass and down the rest of the brandy. This may be irresponsible, but he wasn’t one to deny a mutually desired indulgence. And so, clearly this was no time for caution… or for just standing around and talking. “Come on, let’s dance.”Ic Arbrell

[Delirium, Promenade] Oh.Touch volunteered was a new sensation, too, and it illuminated him from the inside out. Volunteered, if only reciprocated, meant that the interest he sensed was no mistake. At no point that Shavan could have held back had he done so. If he was still upset about a slip-up this morning, there was no way it would have been this easy. He would have sensed what the Lieutenant didn’t want, instead of what he did. They were too close now for something like that to go unfelt. Taking a cue then, he tossed back the rest of the samarian sunset, already feeling the soft dissipation of his usual inhibition. It may not have been the Romulan ale that obliterated the diffident guard in an instant, but it helped lead him out of his self-imposed cage. Just enough, anyway, to accept an invitation to a place he would never have expected to be again, where there was nothing to be sorry for. Ic wrapped a brave hand around Shavan’s arm to head away from the bar together, drawn from the disco like dangerous fuel. She never told him not to dance. The dance floor flooded him with darkness and flashing color as it writhed, with music and waves of thrill and desire. Motion, warm and close, yet absent of identity, filled him quickly— and to Ic’s surprise, he felt like a fish in water. Others crowded his head and his bones like this all day with stress and strain, but here, for the first time, in emotions Ic well understood, he’d actually joined them. He reached to rake decorated fingers through long black hair, keen to seek Shavan out from the crowd. “I’m surprised you hadn't already had enough of this from me.”

[ Shavan Th’zhaar - Delirium] They slipped through the crowd onto the dance floor, joining the moving crush of bodies in the vibrant dark. It didn’t take long to find a rhythm again, the music, loud enough that he could barely hear his own thoughts - just the way he liked it - guiding his motions. He could feel other eyes on him, but gave them nothing more than an indulgent smile as he felt Ic’s fingers running through his hair, bringing them close together enough to be heard. “Had enough? But that was just a taste…” And Shavan still wanted more. The events of this morning didn't compare to being here now that the night had brought the place to life. Now they were amid a sea of other revelers, with nothing else to get back to, nor any audience to maintain appropriateness for. Of course, if Ic was worried this was too much of the same… it was time to take it up a level. He threw himself into dancing, seductive and uninhibited, as they stepped into a similar synergy as earlier. As they spun to face each other once more, Shavan put a hand on Ic's shoulder in turn, tilting his head slightly as they drew close again. Then, seized by impulse, pulled him deep into a kiss. [Delirium, Promenade] Unable to find a single thread to grasp onto, the sound and vague intensities too great to tease anything away from the intoxicating crowd, he followed the man on instinct alone. As touch and motion acquainted them, it seemed better this way. No intrusive reminders of others or self, no errant doubt to block the promise of this feeling. So when Shavan paused once they faced again, he watched the charged moment of impulse flash in nameless colors; lips met lips, and he felt his stomach drop with the bass. With needful hands and bodies close, Ic held onto him like the only precious thing that could hold him to his dimension. Certain but unsure, he dared to return the embrace. Light with his fluttering heartbeat, even seeking more. There were a dozen nevers that disappeared on the advent of a first. But caught off guard, he’d forgotten to breathe. Ic broke from the kiss with a gasp, and the sudden diaphanous quiver of laughter. Noses together, he locked eyes with the half-Andorian. Ic Arbrell didn’t look at just anyone so directly if he could help it. By the Dieties, what was he doing? And why did it feel so good? “Just a taste,” he echoed, moving in to kiss Shavan’s cheek, like a tease. The gentle brush of his thumb smoothed across the other, like a promise. “Save something for the private VIP room, yeah? Or are you getting impatient already?”His head swam as it tilted in a coy maneuver, stepping subtly backward as he took Shavan's hands in his own: an invitation to be chased, or pulled right back in. He didn’t care where it took them. Mostly.

[ Shavan Th’zhaar - Delirium] Shavan’s eyes half closed as their lips met, and he felt Ic holding onto him, returning the kiss. In those few breathless heartbeats it didn't matter what else they were outside of here; they were just one pair amid the crowd, young and alive with desire. It was barely a taste, just enough to leave him wanting more. He only released his hold on the Betazoid by a small fraction as he broke away. Meeting his dark gaze, Shavan smiled in return. His own teasing words were turned back on him, but with more reservation. “Of course.” He could play along. Ic stepped back, and Shavan went with him, taking it as an invitation. Then in one quick movement, caught him and pulled him back. As for getting impatient… “So what if I am?” he whispered in his ear. One hand rested on his chest, the other reached up to catch in his hair. Their lips met again, with a note of desperate hunger. A touch longer and more deliberate this time, as everything else seemed to fall away. When Shavan broke the kiss, it was with a wicked grin. In motion again, he started to weave through the dance floor toward the VIP area. In no rush, of course. Ic Arbrell

[Delirium, Promenade] His shyness seemed to forget itself in each point of heated contact, whether hands or lips or only eyes. Self-consciousness fell away within the crowd, almost confident in almost-anonymity. Ic was no longer an Other within others, but with them with Another, transformed. Lost in the faceted vibe, his heart beat in urging of indulgence as he chased Shavan along, and they moved through. The long and weaving path was kinetic, all the way. He didn’t need to be a telepath to know the destination his date had in mind. Even moments later, the echo of a rough whisper still teased against his ear. Ic reached after Shavan to grab hold of his shirt (or his heart would get away from him), and once caught, slipped instinctively, tauntingly close. So what, so what— so what if I am, too?(What did he have to lose? Maybe nothing. Maybe everything he knew. Maybe it was too good to be true if it was really just so easy.) The velvet rope of the VIP section parted to welcome the two, and Ic led them eagerly toward the first private room. Back pressed against the door, he set an electric gaze upon Shavan that glittered with challenge and covenant. There was no return to the safety of staying strangers on the other side, for better or for worse. He hoped Shavan knew what he was doing.

[ Shavan Th’zhaar - Delirium] Following the impulse, they wove through the crowd in motion, chasing each other in another sort of dance. In the heat of the shifting lights he was drawn close to Ic, desire increasing with every touch and every movement matched. The rest of the room seemed to fade away as Shavan was all too willing to let himself get caught up in the moment. Snatches of contact and teasing whispers weren’t enough. An insatiable need raced to life inside him as Ic took the lead. He craved this, like he always did. They slipped into the first private space they found. For the heartbeat in which the door shut, Shavan saw the glittering want in Ic’s eyes, mirrored in his own. Then, seizing the front of his shirt, Shavan pinned him back against the wall. His heart beat fast with feverish need. Lips met again, hot and desperate. His hands now slipped under Ic’s dark clothes, eager to tear them away. Ic Arbrell

[Delirium, Promenade] And so, there was no turning back. Eager teal hands coaxed sound from a lithe body learning to be touched. For all his elaborate romantic fantasies, this was not how he imagined it. Caught up in the enchantment of it all, he didn’t care. He leaned into it, in full reciprocation with the ardent unknown. The shirt was easily discarded. Noses together again (a kiss without lips) to catch his breath, he looked back at Shavan as if the man had hung the stars. In this room that belonged to neither and to both, he could have designed the universe. Apart now from the throng, he could feel in their closeness a distinct vividness of desire reflected upon him. A primal sensation, honest in its intensity, wild, soul-deep. He couldn’t tell if the feeling sought him or only this, but his hopeless heart fluttered with indistinguishable desire anyway. It was easy to bury a little fear under insurmountable longing. “I can’t promise I won’t overhear again,” Ic purred, soft voice edged by need, by nervousness. Impatience flit and flared, tensing in a delicate grasp on hips he pulled closer to his own. “I’ll try not to, but— I think it’s just feelings right now anyway. But don't be surprised if you don't have to tell me what to do.”

[ Shavan Th’zhaar - Delirium] In the heat of the moment, his need for this sharpened, and at some point his own shirt was cast off too. Then Ic spoke, and Shavan leaned into him in the momentary pause. He hesitated, breath catching as he realized what Ic was saying. Maybe it didn’t matter, and maybe one wrong thought at the wrong time and everything would come crashing down. He wanted so badly to not have to care.A dangerous thing, for someone with so many secrets. His fingers briefly brushed the side of Ic's face. “I can't promise what you'll hear if you do.” Another tease… or the only real warning Shavan would give. He felt hands on his hips, and was drawn in closer, heart racing. With Ic’s words lingering in his mind, he focused only on what he wanted. Just feelings he could accept sharing… right now, anyway. So feel this. His own hands returned the contact, fast picking up what they had started. Ic Arbrell

[Delirium, Promenade] His fingers smoothed across Shavan’s skin, a soft attempt at comfort, an assurance against the warning. Of all the newness of the night, hard secrets weren’t among them. Ic had been privy to twenty-three years worth of things he never wanted to know, and he’d always found ways to adore people even more in their shadow. Shavan Th’zhaar was not about to be the first in any way but one. He couldn’t have cared less what found his mind in the dark tonight. They’d already decided to trust each other. And to feel. It seemed that an exchange was only fair. Within a kiss, he tried to offer a drop of the pink emotions that consumed him in Shavan’s presence, not knowing if even he could. Transference was for other telepaths and imzadis, but he didn’t know what those antennae could catch. Whatever value the bliss of a crush indulged could hold in this moment, he wanted Shavan to have a chance to have it. Just a taste. I promise you’re safe with me.
The soft sound of a breaking kiss punctuated the catching of breath. He kept his lips and nose pressed lazily against a teal cheek. The sensation lingered on. It was vast and stayed nameless, its vivid lightness in his limbs and his insides, like gravity forgetting itself. He was grateful they’d made it to the couch at some point; Ic wasn’t sure how much he could move. He was even less sure of what to say. Although it had been mostly feelings, Shavan was right, in a way: they were not what he’d expected. There was something underneath them, tasting of tarnished metal, cloaked in minor keys. There were smears of abyss that left his throat tight, and flashes of color that even now kept Ic holding on. He wasn’t interested in letting go. “...how much longer, do you think, before they kick us out?” Shavan Th'zhaar
