[ Ensign Rin Zakir - The Drunken Tritter - Kerelia] Zak offered another small smile toward the science officer, before something caught his attention. So the so called treasure hunters weren't the only ones being sent something, it seemed. He wondered if this was the same 'clue' that he suspected the others had received via their own channels, but who had sent it? "Either someone is being very kind or wants a big brawl on their hands", he commented as Hudson asked for the whereabouts. "Any idea where this 'clue' could have originated?", he then asked. He liked to know where his information came from, but that may not be a luxury they had at this very moment. What he did have, it seemed, where his marching orders, as Hudson identified the disrupter wielder from earlier. She wanted him to tail her, which was well within his skillset. At least, he hoped so, as with a wordless nod he exited the building and soon spotted the dark haired woman ahead of him.
The Jungle - Kerelia] After around forty minutes had passed, Zak had managed to wondered if perhaps he had been a little overconfident in his training. No use worrying about it now, he decided as he continued to follow, so far remaining out of sight as his mark pressed on. It wasn't that he was unfit, just that holodeck training was a little different to real life. He would need to keep his wits about him and remain out of sight, all while not embarrassing himself by passing out in the middle of the jungle. If she knew he was there, then she had yet to react, but he made sure he knew where his phaser was. Hearing a sound just ahead of him, the bajoran glanced up into the canopy and spotted a pair of indigenous wildlife. The felinoids seemed quite content to follow on in the trees for now, currently somewhere between him and Costa. He would be keeping an eye on them as he carried on tailing the woman. She seemed competent (and confident) enough to know what she was doing, so there was little doubt that she too had witnessed the extra company. Hopefully, they would distract her from his own presence.

[Lt. JG Cerjess Miren - Kerelia - Town Square]Cerjess handed Lt. Hudson his PADD with the message that had been broadcast. He'd only been down on the planet once before, and hadn't gone any farther inland than the colony. While the directions were clear enough to find the location mentioned, he couldn't specify where it was. When she ordered Rin to follow Costa, he was about the wish the other man good luck, or warn him to be careful, or something... But he was already gone. Well, hopefully he came back alive, or he'd feel even worse about not buying him that drink sooner.

[ Ensign Enola - Square - LZ-2 Colony] Enola didn't really think it was necessary to look over Bremmer's shoulder the whole time. She was confident that if there was anything to find, the Petty Officer would find it. But with each passing minute, Enola grew a little more curious, and even if she wouldn't admit it: a little more impatient. At the captain's question, she also shook her head but said nothing. As a matter of principle, she said nothing if she had nothing to say, and so far she had always done well with that.

[LTJG Chloe Hudson - Town Square] As Rin went off on his assignment, Miren handed the PADD to Chloe which she inspected. She then sent the data to Captain Eastman. Her team would have better use for it and be more likely to be able to figure out how it fit in with any other clues they had with any luck. He then handed the PADD back. “You and I are going to follow these two when they leave,” she said indicating the bombastic bearded man.

[Staz Volkova - Kerelia - The Drunken Tritter]His offer of 1/6 of the treasure was insulting, and she rolled her eyes with a disgusted sound. But they were wasting time sitting here debating it. Staz could always kill him later and take as much as she wanted. "Fine. Let's go." Sliding off the barstool, she grabbed her bag and slung it over her shoulder once more. Without waiting for him, she left the building and started to walk towards the edge of the colony, trying to ignore the Fleeters that were still loitering outside.

[ Ilario Matteus Alfonse Vierdeau - Drunken Tritter -> Landing Pad, LZ-2, Kerelia ]{Quoted Posts} [Staz Volkova - Kerelia - The Drunken Tritter]His offer of 1/6 of the treasure was insulting, and she rolled her eyes with a disgusted sound. But they were wasting time sitting here debating it. Staz could always kill him later and take as much as she wanted. "Fine. Let's go." Tag Eliska Bremmer "Ah, excellent! Ilario exclaimed when the woman accepted his offer. Well, perhaps she didn't seem the most happy about it, but at least she was coming, and she would be fine company in showing off the brutes! However, she was heading the wrong way. "No, no, this way," he called out. "Calypso's shuttles are coming to pick us up, we have quite a way to go, after all!"With that said, he waved the woman towards the landing pads, and started heading that way himself. And while time might be a factor, he wasn't overly worried: not like any of the other treasure hunters had come down with a Starfleet-trained crew, and not like Starfleet itself would be interested in the damn thing... unless they found a suitably hypocritical reason to go for those riches...

[ PO3 Eliska Bremmer - Square, LZ-2 Colony ] Bremmer had relocated to the map table and she was perusing the information that had been found so far between that cryptic message that had made it to their terminals and all the other information that had been gathered. So far, the 'parents and their five children' could be either a pair of canyons that met and had five distinct but much less dramatic valleys where they met, and possibly a group of lakes. Well, at least that was a start. However when the Captain addressed her, she had to shake her head. "I'm sorry, Ma'am, but that math's beyond me. But like you said to Jurgha, a volcano's really possible; I can look for one, see how it jives with the other clues."Well, that wasn't much but with some effort she did bring up a geological overlay to see where there might be a volcano of some sort. [Capt. Judith Eastman(-Williams), PhD - Science Tent]Judy got the message from Chloe. Of course, Jurgha had received this information independently, but there was no need to bring down the young Lieutenant's spirits by saying that. Thank you. -J.E.W. Next, with PO Bremmer suggesting they look for volcanoes on a map, Judy did just that. "Let's pull up a map right here," she narrated, using one of the desks to project a map. "We know river K4 is in the same general area that we're looking for, so let's throw that up, and then we can superimpose where there was volcanic activity 1000 years ago, when this thing was hidden."Sure enough, among the spots on that map were two volcanoes - "I" and "my mate" in riddle #6, perhaps? "What do we see?"The shape from riddle #3 didn't appear anywhere, but there were other things to find.

[Lt. JG Cerjess Miren - Kerelia - Town Square]Cerjess returned the PADD to his belt, nodding in acknowledgement of the order. Then what she said actually sunk in, and he glanced up at the other Lieutenant nervously. "You do know I'm just a scientist, right? And a rather clumsy one at that..." He wasn't trying to argue, but stealth was most certainly not his strong suit. And if they got into any trouble out there, he probably wouldn't be much help. His attention shifted as the first of their 'marks' left the bar and started to walk off towards the jungle. The scrawny man followed shortly after, but called his new partner back towards the landing pads. That might cause some issues... "Have an idea how we'll follow the shuttles?" He asked Chloe, shifting the pack over his shoulder and checking to make sure his tricorder and phaser were still in place.

[ Jurgha, daughter of Khar - Science Tent] Jurgha was silent for a moment as she stared at the map, and tried to think of more connections with the riddles. Maybe the ‘branches’ from the first riddle also referred to the branches of the river, not a tree. However, the entire point of them being here was to be prepared as possible, and they still didn’t have all of the clues. At least, there were still a couple that no one had answered aloud. “Anyone got an answer to three or seven yet?” She stared around at the assembled group, before turning her attention back to the map table. [LTJG Chloe Hudson - Town Square]
Chloe outside with Miren quietly watched as the hunters headed towards the landing pads. She took out her tricorder and pressed a few buttons before responding to Miren. "I'm going to have their shuttle tracked. We'll follow from quite a distance in an unmarked shuttle, they'll probably pick us up on sensors but won't be certain who we are. And it's fine if they do find us, our main goal is monitoring them," she explained. "Lets go, dawdle," she said indicating for them to slowly and relatively inconspicuously head towards the shuttleport. They quickly made their way through security, Chloe signed out the local garrisons unmarked shuttle and boarded. "I'll fly, you try to keep a lock on their shuttle." After identifying the signal of the shuttle the hunters were using and with the help of the colony's scanners combined with their shuttles, they should be able to follow.

Tag Charlie Fox (Costa) [Costa - Welcome to the Jungle]Costa wasn't the only one being stalked. In the canopy one of her followers broke off their pursuit, and began, almost leisurely, to circle back around to put itself parallel to the second jungle interloper: Rin Zakir. The freighter captain frowned at the data from the passive scans that her handheld was performing, wondering why one of the catmon's signatures was seemingly breaking off pursuit. It was then that she noticed a fourth biosign. She grimaced, not in the slightest bit amused that she was being tailed. If the stalker was Fleet, that would be an annoyance, but easier to deal with than if they were civilian, who would likely pounce and want to fight her for anything she found. Either way, it was probably better to take care of these things sooner rather than later. She knew from personal experience, too, that the catmons would follow her indefinitely until she showed a sign of weakness, which they would take as an opportunity to attack, slice her open and have her for dinner. The last time that had happened was when she'd tripped, had the wind knocked out of her and her machete bounced from her hand at the force of her fall. She decided trying something similar, though this time she'd be ready, weapon in hand. Down she went; pretending to lose her footing on a bundle of thick, gnarled tree roots. She stayed where she was, face down in the dirt, making no further sound. She heard the softest of thuds, signalling that the jungle predator had come down from its tree. Costa waited.

[Ensign Ic Arbrell— Science Tent, LZ-2 Colony, Kerelia]
He nodded vaguely to the Captain when she factored the possibilities of translation into the equation, and wondered how much of it might go for the other clues, too. As someone who preferred absolute nonverbal communication, Ic was relatively useless in imagining suggestions beyond poor interpretations of the words he did know.
Knelt down to look at the map that Captain Eastman had pulled up, and struggling to focus on the riddles over the assorted conversations and scattered threads of others’ thoughts cluttering his own, Ic squinted at the topography where it matched the team’s and the neighborhood’s many churning sensations. Along the crook of a river, Enola’s impatience. At the peak of a hill, someone else’s inflated sense of pride.
Distracted.
He’d never really been in such a small pool of minds before. Ic was used to planets of billions, to ships of hundreds; these had grown easy enough to filter out, even growing into white noise at certain times of the day, as long as he didn’t stand too close to anyone. Of late, he’d gotten to know the uniqueness of the company of one— but there wasn’t a whole lot of work going on then. Or any at all. This was uniquely chaotic, wasn’t it? Too many people too clearly. Perhaps it wasn’t just the heat and the (Jem Sparkles was not a phase) mom goss that slowed him down.
Having a one-track mind served him just fine in the past, but right now, things just got stuck, and none of it felt helpful.
Ic glanced up at the Klingon woman, then Bremmer, and rolled one skinny shoulder with a cautious shrug. “I think seven’s two,” he said quietly, and quickly returned his scattered interest to the volcanoes on the map. Following the brief run-in that Shavan and Kova had with a Caldonian in the park, his curiosity led him to look them up. He recalled something about various types of “Academic” that had interested him with their simplicity, but not enough to recall with any clarity. Still eyeing the map, he reached out to gesture to the craters with his first fingers signaling two. “Maybe something in there. Volcano and mate, like you said, Captain.” (Even though she hadn’t actually.) “Blackness creates life— their children— but I wonder how literally. Volcanic soil? That’d round out the nothing grows bit at the start of the clue.”

tags science tent! Bremmer would never know if the Captain had come to her rescue with whatever black magic she had worked on that blasted map interface to make the display more widely visible and to highlight the pair of volcanoes, but she wasn't about to complain especially given how close she had been getting to taking out that frustration on that defenceless console. Now two volcanoes appeared clearly, and the Petty Officer was looking for anything that might be its 'children' all around it in patterns of five, and eight. And there, she saw something! "Captain, Mister Arbell, look at those." Bremmer pointed out a network of five lakes that seemed to be trailing from the volcanoes. "Five children... bearing life."Then, she pointed to a series of barren ridges expanding in a totally different direction; she might not be a geologist and she could certainly not name the phenomenon that was behind such jagged, rocky features that were as lifeless as could be. But she could read a topographical map. "I'm counting eight ridges here. The wrong answer."Then, she turned to the officers, awaiting their judgement on their pronouncements.

[Staz Volkova - Kerelia - Shuttle]Staz couldn't see how a shuttle would get them to their destination if it couldn't fit below the canopy of trees, but she wasn't going to argue about saving time on travel and bypassing most of the threats. Settling in a vacant seat, she kept her bag on her lap, concealing her hand resting over the hilt of her dagger. She wasn't dumb enough to blindly trust her new partner, nor anyone who worked for him. For all she knew this was just his attempt to get rid of one of the competition. But she also wasn't dumb enough to make her distrust obvious. She remained silent for now, her dark gaze ever watchful of everyone around her.

[Lt. JG Cerjess Miren - Kerelia - Town Square]Cerjess nodded at the new set of orders, rather relieved that they wouldn't be heading into the jungle on foot. Monitoring sensors in the safety of a shuttle was far more his alley. He followed the other Lieutenant towards the landing pad, taking his tricorder off his belt to make it look like he was doing something other than following the two hunters. When they reached the shuttle Hudson had procured for them, he took a seat at the tactical controls, putting in the information they'd received about the hunters' transport. "Target locked," he reported simply.
