Oh great, not only was the young girl deciding to interrogate the Colonel but the imbecile was too, Sleebaggo thought to himself with frustration. At least Commander Quinn was more respectful of authority. Sadly, Harmon seemed to have damaged the relationship between the station and the Soteria far too much to be overcome by a single meeting.
Vasser had all the charm of a snake, though far weaker fangs than she seemed to think. For Chloe, the idea that Quinn was now following Vassers instructions was very concerning not only as a potential security issue, but because it would seem to Vasser that she had control over a senior officer. Matthew was right, Quinn's loyalties were split, he was incapable of being objective when it came to dealing with his former CO. She even seemed to imply that Quinn might leave Starfleet for the local mercenary band. Taggart eventually found an argument that might work, getting the escape pod back. It would have data that could be used to track its location. Data that presumably pointed to where it had been. Presumably they'd wipe that, at which point they would have not only accessed but damaged Federation property, something Starfleet tended to take very seriously.

[ LT Joshua Niles - Ops, Front Ear Station ]{Quoted Posts} [Capt. Judith Eastman(-Williams), PhD - Captain Eastman's Office]Judy couldn't discern exactly why, but she could tell Vasser was stalling. It wasn't even subtle. As such, as she brought the coffee to the conference table, she intervened in the conversation for the first time. "What's the matter, Colonel?" she asked, with a tone of concern that contrasted with the understandably accusatory notes coming from elsewhere around the table.

[CO's Office, Front Ear Station ] Helena Vasser watched as they all came undone at the slightest suggestion that they weren't in full control. The first to go was Chloe Hudson. She was barely a Lieutenant, and one could still smell the ensign on her breath. How much latitude was she being given? To presume she could tell the commanding officer of another vessel what they thought and felt? And eager, Mr. Niles, had apparently had his wrist slapped enough times to know to ask permission as he turned to Lt. Commander Taggert to do just that. The acting-Intelligence officer was attempting to salvage niceties around the table, but his subordinate was clearly off her leash. Vasser simply sat back in her seat. She wasn't about to be rattled by the likes of these two. And then, came Judy. Perhaps she could sense that a simple verbal exchange was degrading to the point where nothing of value could be salvaged. She had asked Vasser what was wrong, and the colonel only gave her a wry smile. "Why would you think something is wrong?" Vasser asked emptily. She lifted the bank of her hand and spoke into the communicator. -♦- "Vasser to Jogann," -♦- she said into the communicator mounted on the back of her hand. -♦- "Jogann, here. Go ahead, Colonel," came the reply over the comms. -♦- "Is Mr. Quinn still with you?" -♦- she asked. =A= "I'm here, Colonel," =A= came Isaiah's voice. Perhaps he was about to say more, but Vasser spoke first. -♦- "Excellent. Thank you, Commander. You're as dependable as I remember. Vasser out." -♦- Vasser's eyes moved towards Judy. "You inherited quite the officer in Quinn. I'd advise you to hold on to that one." The Colonel then pushed her chair back from the desk and rose to her feet. "I will see to it that the device is delivered to your engineers. If there's nothing further, Captain, we will be leaving."The colonel's words certainly seemed to catch Neema off guard. The Anabaj looked towards Chromar who had followed the Colonel's example and stood from the table as well. Neema did the same and clasped her hands behind her back.

"In a moment, Lieutenant," he told Josh curtly. Taggert wasn't done with his own line of questioning, though it was painfully obvious the woman wouldn't say another word until they had spoken to Commander Quinn. Pierce was about to lift his hand to give the scientist a call when the Colonel did it for him. And she expected that to be the end of it? Rising from his seat as she did, Taggert pushed back his frustration, and took a step towards the woman, his gaze almost imploring as he made eye contact with her. "Colonel, for just a moment imagine it was the Soteria that went missing without a trace. Imagine we found one of the crew in an escape pod and brought him back to the Alliance. Wouldn't you want us to give over any and all information we had that might help the Alliance search for the rest of the ship and crew?" It was a gamble, playing on her humanity. But professionalism hadn't worked. Taggert gave her a moment to consider his words, his gaze shifting to Chromar at her side. "We'll also need that escape pod back. It is, after all, Federation property..." At the very least, the pod itself might be able to yield some clues...

Last he had heard, interfering with and knowingly impeding search and rescue operations was a crime, and Vasser and her officers did not enjoy diplomatic immunity; which meant they had plenty of grounds to impound Soteria, tear her computers apart, and arrest at the very least her senior staff. [Petty Officer Conor Lynch - Cargo Storage, Promenade]"Hey! That didn't stop him from trying to slap her hand himself as she pulled it away, though. He was only really half listening to what she was saying, the rest of his brainspace was taken up with wondering how he'd ended up in here and how long it would take for someone to miss him. Something was ringing a bell though. Correction," he held up a finger, "I was Nybberite Alliance Officer Lynch." He was a free man now. She knew him. From the Soteria, from Sigma Four. She was Bolian. Ah yes, she was the one and only Avi Moz. "I know ya," Lynch announced, eyes narrowing as he regarded her with some suspicion and distaste. "Dunno wha' Kaya Som sees in ya." He bent down to recover his effects. [ Avi Moz | Cargo storage ]Lynch was getting flustered like most people in his position would. The sooner he came to terms that this encounter would not be pleasant, the better. It inspired a healthy sense of urgency which is what Avi needed - decent answers fast. His displeasure at his predicament caused him to slap at her. He made glancing contact but Avi didn't immediately retaliate because he quickly followed up with some relevant information: he was out. And then he mentioned Kaya, Avi's sometime shag. What a little gossip he was! She gave him a swift kick in the ribs as to emphasize the power structure in this relationship. Then she gave him another, before crouching down brandishing her zappy tool near his face once again. "Behave and listen up:" Avi said firmly. "Tell me why the Soteria is docked or I'll burn your eyebrows off. I know you know who I am and that Chromar's keen to find me. Why are they here?" Charlie Fox (Lynch)

[Matthew Harmon - Promenade] Apparently 'Frederick' didn't like that moniker, which made Matt laugh at him as finally gave in and gave him his name. Or at least a name. "Pleasure to properly meet you, Mott," he said. "I've got a bit of archaeology experience myself," he added as the kid went through his many talents. Matt's expedition to Kerellia wasn't the greatest example of archaeology, and somehow he ended up coming out with fancy modern technology and no ancient artefacts. It was fruitful, but disappointing. When Mott produced a tracking device however, Matt was very impressed. Hopefully it worked. "Well done. You seem like you'd make a good spy too!" he said with encouragement. "Lead the way!" he said indicating for Mott to take the lead. [ Mott Moz | Out and about ]The relationship between the Starfleet spy and the space-station urchin began to mend. Matt provided sufficient praise to affirm Mott's skills, allowing Mott space to provide substantive help. He powered on the little thing and began to manage the controls. The tracker was as eccentric and creative as one would expect from a young inventor, disorganized in its construction, and some aspects clearly designed to mimic what could be found in a holonovel, or just things that looked cool. He turned knobs, flipped switches, and extend the antennae. He sidled up closer to Matt so the human could better see the screen. Now activated, the screen showed a wiggly line. "I stuck a bug on the bottom of mom's boot," he said then explained how it was made of a unique isotope that left a trace trail of radiation on most surfaces. The tracker detected the radiation and the wave on the screen would wiggle with increasing intensity the closer it was to the trail. "It's like Stink-Stink." Mott assumed Matt would know the children's game, which was similar to Hot and Cold. The wave line was wiggling now, in fact, meaning Avi had recently been walking by here. "See? If I go here..." Mott took a few steps in one direction and the wiggly wave calmed down. "Not that way..." He changed direction and the wiggly line started up again. "Getting stinkier..." Matthew Harmon

[ NPC - Cpl Bolton Ramius - Spotty Alibi Front Ear Station ]{Quoted Posts}
[NPC - Rimi Mora - Spotty Alibi, Promenade, Front Ear Station ] Bolton certainly seemed kind enough. He had certainly offered to buy her a drink. And top-shelf no less. That was supposed to be a good sign. She didn't think Candy drank anything unless it came from the top-shelf. Bolton was definitely checking all the boxes. It seemed like all of Candy's tips were paying off. She was turning over some of the stuff he'd said before about duty and going where it took him. She knew she needed to pay more attention. Yet, when asked what she wanted to drink, her mind was at a blank. She wasn't exactly sure what a boilermaker was. Perhaps it was best to stick to what she knew. "Um... a strawberry daiquiri, please," she ordered. Yet, part of her wondered if this place even had strawberries. It didn't matter. She was here... with Bolton... and no was fussing about ages or shooing her out the door. "So, you're having fun already, huh? Maybe we can have a little more." she asked smiling. Her eyes scanned the rest of the bar. "How about a game?" There's a Dom-jot table over there."
Tag: Judith Eastman (Perry), Joshua Niles (Bolton), Aleiana Kniffin {TW: Predatory behaviour}At the drink orders, the bartender got to work. Now, a Nyberrite in his establishment, that was nothing too unusual: they got all sorts. Hell, just recently they got a trio of beauties, two out of the three of them Starfleet no less, with one of them an officer and another one being Security, no less. Now, the girl looked a little young, but if she wanted to be in here and have a drink? He didn't really care so long as it was paid for. What was the worse that was going to happen? Security making noise about their liquor license, then backing off because they needed their slice of the revenue from the bar; all old stories. Besides, what was the worst that could happen?
The man's drink was easy: a generous shot of whiskey in the bottom of a pint glass and top with beer; hers? He actually did have to look up the recipe, track down the blender, and replicate strawberries. But, the man was paying, as evidenced by the clinking of latinum on the bar, enough to keep them drinking for a while and a nice tip to boot no less. And in fact, it would seem the fellow meant to keep her drinks coming.
Well, none of his business...
Now that alcohol had made it to both Bolton and Rimi's hands, the Nyberrite corporal raised his glass, clear, slightly carbonated and a rich amber colour thanks to the whiskey in the beer. "Now we need a toast. How about to you, to a beautiful woman, going out of her way to show a stranger a good time?"
Oh yes, time to get her feeling nice, and safe and happy... it worked every time.

There was plenty of groaning, though, especially after the second kick. Then she told him to behave! He'd been doing just that! He'd been minding his own business, strolling down the Promenade, when this unscrupulous criminal set upon him and threatened his brows. "They're not here fer yew, ya bleedin' psychopath!"He didn't know that exactly, it wasn't like he and Chromar were bunkmates or anything. But he had heard plenty of scuttlebutt, and thanks to a recent conversation he'd had about how kissable Perry had been, he'd paid attention. "They're here fer Commodore Perry!"

[NPC - Lieutenant (j.g.) Yvonna Teller-Wright - Sickbay, Front Ear Station ] Yvonna nodded as she spoke with Commodore Perry. He seemed to recall the escape pod and even being conscious in the pod. She waited for Dr. Kniffin to speak about the tests she had to run with the commodore before proceeding when an appropriate opening arose. "So, you recall the evacuation, or at least being in the escape pod for a while?" she asked hoping to sure up his timeline. "Do you remember anything after that? Perhaps the first time you can recall not being in the pod?" [NPC - Commodore (Reserves) Calvin Perry - Sickbay, Front Ear Station]Calvin strained his mind at the counselor's question.
"I remember an evacuation, but I don't know if it was this one," he said. "I was in a hoverchair in the evacuation, but when I came to in the pod I was mobile." He squinted his eyes, as though trying to see something. "I'm sorry, Counselor, my memories are so scrambled. Is there something that can be done to help search through my mind?"

[ LT Joshua Niles - Ops -> Sickbay Front Ear Station ]{Quoted Posts} [Capt. Judith Eastman(-Williams), PhD - Captain Eastman's Office -> Passageway]Well, this was bad. Not only had Judy failed to ply Vasser, but the woman was quite eager to storm off, and to make matters worse, it appeared Commander Quinn's loyalties were in question. "Colonel, I think there are a few questions left, so if it's all the same to you, I'll leave you in the Commanders' capable hands. You can enjoy your coffee, at the very least." Judy couldn't - and wouldn't - detain the Colonel, but she could at least make it clear that running off would be taken as an insult, and would be detrimental to the Nybberrites' ability to operate on the station.
She motioned for the two Lieutenants, Niles and Hudson, to come with her, and led them to a secluded spot in the passageway outside. "Mr. Niles, go to Sickbay, see what's up with Mr. Quinn over there," she ordered. "Ms. Hudson, do we have any assets I'm supposed to have plausible deniability about?"
And just like that, the Nyberrites were going to walk away. The Captain tried to keep them in the room, but clearly she was not about to use that steel Niles knew she hid so damn well until it was needed. Hell, she had to know the laws with regards to interfering and impeding rescue operations at least as well as he did! But then again, he knew he had a ruthless streak that was not always appreciated in these circles. But that was besides the point, for he was beckoned, along with Hudson, to follow the Captain outside the conference room and he did head out, his cane clicking against the floor with each step. And, new orders. He was to go down and see to Commander Quinn, though the nature of his orders was rather vague; was it about seeing how he was doing, or confirming that he was not in Vasser's back pocket? Now, that was a duty he wasn't entirely happy to deal with, and he could not entirely suppress his wincing. But then again, this was the Nyberrites they were talking about, and they were as cunning as they came. And if there were any suspicions that needed clearing up one way or another, it needed to be doing. Of course, Niles did not entirely like that particular duty and wanted to believe there was nothing untowards going on with Quinn, but he had to be aware that there was a very unpleasant possibility that indeed, he was playing both sides at the time. "Aye, Captain," he acknowledged before turning towards the turbolift as fast as his legs would bear them... which was a far cry from his usual purposeful, long strides. Sickbay, Front Ear StationThe trip to the medical facility had taken longer than he would've liked, but the Lieutenant eventually got there, and he got a nod acknowledging his arrival from the guards upon his arrival. And there he was, this man who was supposed to be Commodore Perry, Commander Quinn, Doctor Paawin, his counselor of all people, and a young physician whom he did not know. Well, that was certainly a crowd all right. But, he had a job to do. "Commander Quinn, may I have a word with you if you please? In Doctor Paawin's office, perhaps?"Josh's words might be those spoken by a subordinate making a polite request of a superior officer, but his tone carried a slight edge; after all, Security personnel were routinely required to exercise the authority of their duties over people of higher rank, and in this case he was down there directly at the Captain's order. However, he was not about to voice any kind of suspicions in front of others unless it was absolutely necessary, and even if in the end he was not playing both sides, there were things to communicate that Niles did not want to be overheard.

[CO's Office, Front Ear Station ] As Vasser stood, so did Commander Taggert. Vasser wasn't certain if the man was simply being a gentleman or if she had pushed any buttons. She still wasn't certain of the answer, even after he moved towards her and spoke. It was clear that he was still intent on learning answers. Dedicated to the task at hand. That was actually something that Vasser could respect... which was more than she could say where the pair of lieutenants were concerned. It was one thing to have personal feelings towards a person, but entirely unprofessional to all those feelings to influence your conduct. If she were honest, Vasser was almost ashamed that Starfleet standards had fallen so low. Despite what most would believe, she still held a great deal of pride in the uniform that she had once worn. She certainly didn't desire to see its' prestige diminished in any way. She sighed as she considered Taggert's words. Finally, her lips parted to deliver a sincere and measured response. "With all do respect, Commander," she began, "If the Soteria had ever gone missing, then that's exactly where you would find me." Still, she understood the sentiment of what he was trying to express. "If a member of my crew had been located and returned to me while other hands were missing... yes, I would want to know every detail possible that would assist me in locating them." Vasser paused before going on. "And if a Starfleet vessel was responsible for returning that crewman, I would trust their integrity and whatever information they decided to share. However, it doesn't seem like that trust is mutual."Vasser's eyes moved between both Taggert and Sleebaggo, wondering if either man would actually confirm what seemed to be so blatantly obvious. Whatever she believed before walking into this office, it seemed apparent that Eastman still had her reservations... and possibly bordering on paranoia. The Captain had already ushered her junior officers from the room to run whatever clandestine errands she had in mind. Undoubtedly, centering around Nyberrite personnel. The mention of the shuttle by Taggert seemed to highlight exactly where the lines were drawn. Federation property? Was that what this conversation had descended into. "As I've said, the recorder device is yours. As for the shuttle... you can have it as well, but not today. It's still housed at Sigma-4. Our priority was bringing Commodore Perry back here. We'll be more than happy to deliver it to you, but I doubt my superiors will greenlight it as a priority. There's the option of picking it up yourselves if you prefer."
[Sickbay, Front Ear Station ] The Breen stood there, listening to the Bajoran physician's questions about Perry's treatment. "That was the primary concern," Bel pointed out. "It's possible that the hypotension could have resulted from lower volumes of blood at the time. The rest of his injuries: minor abrasions and bruises seemed to be within parameters of fleeing a vessel in distress." Bel's attention moved back in Perry's direction as the other medical officers continued to appraise his now former patient.

[Lt. Commander Isaiah Quinn - Sickbay, Front Ear Station ] It had been a few moments since Lt. Commander Quinn had emerged from Dr. Paawin's office. He stood on the perimeter, both listening and watching as Lt. Teller-Write and Doctor Kniffin continued their respective examinations. He could already pick up on the issues that Commodore Perry seemed to be experiencing with his memory. He had some ideas about how to possibly help the Commodore with those issues, but thought it best to consult with the counselor and the rest of the medical staff to make certain they wouldn't be exposing Perry to any harm in doing so. It was then that he received a rather unexpected interruption in the form of Lt. Niles. The Tactical officer asked to speak with him in private. Quinn's brow arched, curious as to what could possibly bring Niles here to interrupt him while they were in the middle of debriefing Perry. He concluded that it had to be important if he was sent her personally, and that this wasn't handled over coms. "Of course," said Quinn. He gestured towards Doctor Paawin's office and once inside turned to address Niles. "What is it?" he asked, his concern growing.
[NPC - Lieutenant (j.g.) Yvonna Teller-Wright - Sickbay, Front Ear Station ] Yvonna took a deep breath. It seemed that Perry's memory was possibly jumbled. It was possible that it could be due to injury, but there was also the possibility that his brain was trying to protect itself from some sort of traumatic memories. It was especially disturbing that he recalled being in a hover chair prior to being in the escape pod, and being mobile when he'd come out. "Are you sure about that, sir?" she asked. She actually hated asking him to confirm his thoughts as if she were questioning what he was able to recall. She sighed as he asked if there was something that could be done to search through his mind. Her eyes sought out Lt. Commander Quinn, but he had stepped away. The counselor cleared her throat as she sought to field the question. "We have options," she stated. "There are some conventional memory exercises we could try, though those would take some time. If we were looking at more expedient options it's possible a highly-skilled telepath could help you reassemble some of your memory. There's also the option of a Vulcan Mindmeld. Of course, all of these options are dependent upon you being medically cleared to endure such a strain."
[NPC - Rimi Mora - Spotty Alibi, Promenade, Front Ear Station ] It took a little longer than she anticipated for the drinks to arrive. She had hoped that what she had asked for hadn't been complicated. After all, Candy made the daiquiris with relative ease. They eventually arrived, and Bolton actually proposed making a toast in her honor. Rimi's eyes widened as she smiled. "Um... okay. Thanks," she uttered awkwardly. She clinked her glass against his and then brought the glass towards her lips. Almost instantly, she could tell that this alcohol seemed a great deal stronger than whatever it was that Candy had used. It was much more prevalent in taste than the strawberries. She coughed slightly as she pulled the glass from her lips. Of course, not wanting to appear like a complete novice, she made up what she thought was a clever excuse. "Excuse me. Wrong pipe," she stated. She took a deep breath and tried the drink again. It didn't taste any better, but she didn't want to insult Bolton's generosity either. So, she made up in her mind to just deal with it. "So... what exactly do you do aboard your ship?" She wanted to kick herself for jumping down the first hole of small talk to rear it's ugly little head.

[Lt. Cmdr. Pierce Taggert - Front Ear - CO's Office] Pierce was relieved when Vasser responded to his question in the way that he had hoped. At least she was willing to understand where they were coming from. The Captain taking the two junior officers with her was also a bit of a relief. While this could have been used as a learning experience for them, sometimes having fewer people in a room helped the conversation run a little more smoothly. While he would have preferred she take Sleebaggo as well... He was easy enough to ignore. "I wasn't here for our crews' previous interactions, but I've read the reports. I can assure you... Any mistrust on our part isn't directed at you personally, but at the Alliance as a whole. You've never been anything less than cooperative when it was your choice; but there's been a pattern of things going wrong. From an outsider's perspective, it's hard not to start thinking that there are others in the Alliance who are less interested in peace with us. And from a security perspective... It is very suspicious that your superiors won't allow you to give us any information, not even something as simple as where our Commodore was found." No, there wasn't a question in there, at least not outright. But the Commander watched her closely to see how she reacted to him casting doubt on the integrity of her superiors .

[Lt. Paawin Riyo - Front Ear - Primary Sickbay]Riyo nodded as he listened to the answer, his gaze still on the screen in front of him. When the data transfer was complete, he handed the PADD back to the Breen. "Thank you, Doctor. This has all been very helpful." Next he programmed the computer to send the information from the biobed scanners to the file on the monitor. It was always far easier to compare details when they were all in the same place. Shifting slightly, he looked about the room. Quinn had finished with the Brikkar, only to be taken back into the office by Lt. Niles. The counselor was still talking to Perry, whom thankfully didn't appear to be in any more distress from the questions. He would check in on them in a few minutes.

[CPO Jovireh Velal - Front Ear - Blue Beta]Apparently 'Ted' was one of those people who refused to take hints. Jovireh thought about responding to his comment about them not wanting the Soteria crew on the station... But that also seemed a bit like a baited question. So after swallowing her current bite, she picked up her glass and took a sip, smirking when he asked who owned the place. "She does." Jov said simply, indicating to Leanna beside her. Seriously... Why else would she have told him his drink was 'on the house'?

[Blue Beta - Promenade] Ted making himself comfortable wasn't an issue for Lea as she shifted her almost empty plate to give him more room. Nor was the observation he then made about his superior officer. Although hoped that she wasn't expected to agree with him on the topic of Colonel Vasser, especially with her only meeting the woman once. That was a different time for Lea back then and she was in a more happier place now. However knew that she would have to say something. Luckily Jov came to her rescue, when she answered his question about who ran the place. " That's right, it's me" she added, silently thanking Jov for coming to her rescue. Giving Ted time to digest that response, Lea picked up the last shrimp and ate it. Although had to resist ordering another helping so focused on her drink instead.
