Captain's log
My first reaction to hearing that Commodore Perry is alive was relief and joy. After serving together for five months, I've come to consider him a friend, and I've stayed in touch with his sons ever since."
"However, the circumstances under which he was found raise many, many questions. First of all, he was critically injured when the Lusitania was hit, and yet somehow, he was found alone, in altogether good condition, in an escape pod, many light-years and almost nine months away from the incident. What's more, he was found by the Nyberrites, the Soteria, our old... uh, friends, who haven't been answering any of our requests for more information. I've briefed my superiors on the matter, and they agree that this is all very... curious. We are under orders to try to figure out what the hell happened to Commodore Perry and the Lusitania; I've given the crew the additional orders to keep the peace as best as we can, and not to inflame more tensions with the Nyberrites." [Capt. Judith Eastman(-Williams), PhD - Ops]Judy, propped up on all sorts of ergonomic cushions, sat in the center chair of Ops. She, like many others, was on high alert for the Soteria's arrival. "In a perfect world, Vasser will tell us everything we want to know, and no one will punch a Nyberrite on the Promenade," she said, to everyone and no one in particular. "But I get the feeling we live in the bad timeline."

[Blue Beta - Promenade]
Going back to work for the first time since she was attacked telepathically, felt a little strange for Leanna. However her fears and nerves at the prospect, were naturally unfounded and likely in her head as everyone had been so lovely since the moment that she had walked in. There had been hugs, congratulations and questions asked about how she was, especially as there was no hiding her almost 16 weeks bump.
Things had certainly changed for the Betazoid in the last nine weeks but the extended break, including a surprise proposal and a trip to Earth and Beta Ed, had just been what was needed. So yes she felt very pregnant and the twins were starting to be active. However returning to work was something she was really looking forward too, after promising Riyo that she wouldn't overdo things.
Plus she could also indulge in her cravings, which were Bajoran Shrimp dipped in a spicy uttaberry ketchup and chocolate orange cheesecake. In fact the Bar Owner had ordered these after catching up with Seamus and was currently sat at one of the booths. Thinking she may aswell eat now, especially upon learning via the gossip mill, that the Nybberites were returning to the station.
Memories and flashbacks notwithstanding as to what had happened during their last visit. Leanna, knew that she had to put that aside and focus on the here and now.

[ LT Joshua Niles - Ops, Front Ear Station ]One might consider it a very short time to be back on his feet, literally, but there was only so much a month of inactivity could do for one Lieutenant Niles. So, a compromise that had been struck was to leave him on light duties. Which, mostly, meant he was driving a desk and shuffling paperwork, but at least he still had a chance to get to the Tactical station from time to time. And, as luck would have it, that was where he found himself on the day the Nyberrites were arriving, allegedly with Commodore Perry in their company. And though his station was normally a standing one, a kind soul had found a stool upon which he could rest, taking some of the weight off of his new prosthetic leg, given he was still getting accustomed to the cybernetic replacement for the limb that had likely been disposed off with all other biohazardous waste found in Sheriff Marais' bolthole back on Serenity; and speaking of which, he ought to make time to send a message to Mara, see how the reconstruction was going... But that was a matter for another day. For now, there was the immediate issue of the Nyberrites' arrival. And he damn well did not trust them, not since that series of exercises culminating with the bastards actually infiltrating the Mac and thoroughly cheating. Now, like he'd heard his tactics instructor say, if one wasn't cheating, one wasn't trying hard enough. But the fact they had deliberately violated Federation law in order to win war games? That went beyond the pale. At the Captain's comments, Niles let out a dry chuckle. "If wishes were fishes," he said with a ghost of a smile. If wishes were fishes, he would still have all the parts he'd been born with, rather than have a number of aftermarket replacements. Then, he looked down at his board and confirmed the tracking information on the Soteria. "Our... guests should be dropping out of warp in the next two minutes, Captain."

Lt. Commander Isaiah Quinn - Ops, Frontier Station ] Quinn's attention had been on the screen of the science station, as one of the new transfers was performing the diagnostics that Quinn had asked her to do. Thus far, it seemed she was performing well. Of course, the next time she likely saw this posting would be during the night watch. Although, from what Quinn could see, she'd be able to handle things just fine. He made a notation for his recollection when he finalized his duty roster proposals to send to Commander Ellis for final approval. He moved away from the station, in part to see how the young officer handled things without him hovering over her. It was then that he heard the Captain's words about Colonel Vasser and the Nyberrites, whom were en route to the station, with Commodore Perry supposedly aboard. Quinn knew that he was in the minority when it came to Colonel Vasser. Several of his colleagues had made no secret of that. It was possible that he held some bias, having served under the woman. Yet, his experience with her had shown that while she played loose, he'd never really known her to outright cross any lines. He kept his thoughts on that matter to himself. Of course, speaking for the Nyberrite Alliance as a whole was another matter altogether. They typically played by a different set of rules, which usually matched whomever was paying them at the time. As Niles mentioned that the N.S.S. Soteria, Vasser's ship, should be arriving shortly, Isaiah naturally glanced in the direction of the view screen. The circumstances, or perhaps the lack of knowledge of the circumstances behind Perry's reemergence was puzzling. Of course, there was no guarantee that they'd get the answers that they were looking for. "Has anyone from Starfleet had the opportunity to speak with the Commodore directly?" Isaiah asked. It seemed to track that if anyone could shed light on where Perry had been all this time that it could possibly be the man himself.

[Lt. Cmdr. Pierce Taggert - Front Ear - Ops]The acting head of sec/tac strode into Ops, silently stepping off to the side and stopping beside the young Lieutenant at the tactical console. He patted Josh's shoulder gently, partly in greeting and partly a reassurance that he was not intending to take over the post. Due to the delicate nature of the Nybberites' arrival and the Commodore's mysterious return, Taggert simply felt it prudent for the most experienced in the department to be present when more information was received. Depending on what they learned, he would delegate as necessary. In the meantime, he stood in silence, gaze focused on the viewscreen ahead. It wouldn't be long now... Tag Joshua Niles [CPO Jovireh Velal - Front Ear - Blue Beta]So far it had been a quiet day, but with word of who was arriving soon, Jov knew that likely wouldn't last long. So she decided to take advantage of the current calm by stopping for an early lunch, and made her way to the Blue Beta. Her gaze immediately found Leanna, who seemed to have had the same idea. With a bright smile she made her way over to her friend's table. "It's about time you show back up," she greeted teasingly. "I hear several congratulations are in order!" Word did travel fast on the station, especially when that word concerned someone as well-known and loved as Lea. Tag Leanna Mazal

[Conference Room, N.S.S. Soteria ] Col. Helena Vasser | Maj. Chromar | Alpha Sgt. Gorsk | Dr. Bel | Capt. Rez Jogann | 2nd Lt. Neema | | | | | | |
Colonel Helena Vasser was certain that the Spanish Inquisition would pale in comparison to the welcome awaiting her and the rest of the Soteria on Frontier Station. To say that they were hauling precious cargo was an understatement. Apparently, a Nyberrite vessel had recovered Commodore Perry's escape pod some time ago, and brought him to Sigma 4 for medical treatment. It was from there that Vasser had been assigned to deliver the Commodore back into Federation hands. She hadn't been cleared to offer much more than that, but was certain that Captain Eastman wouldn't be satisfied with the seemingly abridged version of events. With any luck, they'd be able to drop off Perry and be on their way no questions asked. Of course, Vasser wasn't one to believe in luck. "Sergeant, what's our ETA for Frontier Station," Vasser asked. The Nakhul woman wasted little time in answering the colonel's query. Gorsk had proven by far to be among her most dependable crewmen. "Approximately twenty minutes, Colonel," she replied. Vasser acknowledged the answer with a nod. "Very well," she continued. Her attention turned towards the Breen physician seated at the table. "Doctor, how is our guest faring?" Vasser still wasn't used to the mechanically translated sound of the doctor's voice. "Commodore's condition is nominal. He is currently being prepped for transfer, as well as his medical records," said Bel. Vasser nodded. Undoubtedly, those records would receive scrutiny and only fuel the inferno of questions that would come her way. "Excellent. Captain Jogann. I want you present along with Dr. Bel until Commodore Perry is officially received by Starfleet." The Brikar security officer was on loan from Sigma-4, but his reputation certainly preceded him. Nothing would be amiss where Perry's safety was concern while Jogann saw after him. "The contingent I assigned him won't leave his side until I personally relieve them," he said in his deep gravelly voice. "In fact, if there's nothing else, Colonel...?""No. You and Dr. Bel are dismissed to make final preparations for our arrival," Vasser answered. She then turned towards Chromar. The Romulan had been unusually silent. "I'm going to limit the number of Nyberrite personnel on leave at our arrival. Current duty rotations are to proceed even while we're docked. Lieutenant Neema, you'll see after that."The blonde Anabaj seemed surprised that she had been given an assignment. In fact, she was still getting used to the idea of actually attending this particular meeting. "Yes, sir," she said quickly acknowledging the colonel's orders. "Colonel, are there any objections to Lieutenant shadowing me?" Chromar asked. "Of course, her training could be suspended until we leave Frontier Station if you prefer."Vasser sighed, but slowly shook her head. "I don't think that will be necessary. I'm sure the Lieutenant can manage multi-tasking all of her obligations." Chromar didn't seem to have any objections to that. Of course, if he did, he certainly knew better than to voice them openly. "Well, if there's nothing else... I suggest we all prepare for our final approach. Dismissed."
[Bridge, N.S.S. Soteria ] Upon the viewscreen, Vasser could see the growing image of Frontier Station as her vessel continued it's approach. Her hands rested on either armrest as she called out to Gorsk. "Open hailing frequencies," she ordered. The Na'khul woman responded alerting her commander that the comm was open. "Frontier Station, this is Colonel Helena Vasser, officially requesting permission for the Soteria to dock." That was something that could have easily have been handled by her subordinates. However, she somehow felt that the gravitas of the situation deserved her personal attention. Besides, if they were going to be less than welcome, it would be best that she learned about it first hand.

[Blue Beta - Promenade] There was something strangely satisfying about dipping a finger into the spicy fruity ketchup and tasting it, before even thinking about diving into the shrimp. Besides Lea wasn't exactly ashamed for doing so as a happy sigh then escaped from her lips. Knowing the best bit was yet to come and that she could easily get through the double order of shrimp. The Bar Owner was then struck by another wondrous idea, one that she would need to speak to Shay about. Bottling the ketchup was genius in her opinion and not because she happened to love it. Feeling a sense of accomplishment upon getting her business brain back. Lea was about to pick up a celebratory shrimp, when a familiar presence approached and teased her. Looking up, Lea grinned at seeing Jov. " I know otherwise I think Shay would of hunted me down" she replied, unable to be serious. At the mention of her happy news and the several congratulations. Leanna smiled, as her newly acquired earring glittered in the light. " Thank you, finding out that I'm having twins and the engagement were both unexpected but I'm so happy right now Jov" Lea admitted, shifting a little so Jov could join her.

And so he wandered off onto the station, walking around the promenade in search of a drink, good-looking women, and trouble.

Well, just about on cue the Soteria dropped out of warp. And instantly, Niles' hands flew across his board, barely slowed down by the weeks of inactivity imposed by his recent injury, and he started a passive plot on the Nyberrite warship. No, he did not trust them as far as he could spit and he would treat them as such. However, once the pro-forma exchanges were concluded, the real work would begin. Mister Quinn going to have words with the individual claiming to be Commodore Perry, and the Captain inviting both he and Commander Taggert to join her in her Ready Room. With a gesture, Niles summoned one of the relief Tactical officers to come and take his place, and with more effort than he was pleased with, he took his weight off the stool he had been using and reached for the cane he would need to use until his body would get fully accustomed to his prosthetic. Getting moving was something else that took more time than he was happy with, but he did hobble after Captain Eastman at the best pace he could manage. Upon entering the office, though, he made a conscious effort not to look towards any of the available seating, and had to consider what was to be coming. "Captain, given the last time we had a... direct connection with the Nyberrites, I would recommend adopting a stronger internal security posture. And that until we can positively prove the identity and intentions of the individual claimed to be Commodore Perry, he be kept under escort and denied all computer access." No, he was not about to trust those mercenaries, or simply take the miraculous return of a flag officer officially missing for so long at face value.

Captain Eastman responded, giving instructions regarding Perry's transport to Sickbay, and extending the genuine niceties to the Nyberrite Colonel while asking her to meet the Captain in her office. Eastman then gave Quinn the orders to debrief Commodore Perry. "Aye, Captain," he said as he began to make his way towards the turbolift. He overheard Niles' suggestion to the Captain about restricting Perry's access until his identity could be confirmed. It was a good suggestion, one that was practical given that Perry's access would have been terminated after he'd gone missing. It would simply be a lengthy "formality" to get his access squared away. It was important to gauge his mental health as well as his physical health. He planned to see how far things proceeded, but already had Chief Velal in mind to be apart of this at some point. Her unique talents could prove just as illuminating as any of the tests the medics would run.

[Bridge, N.S.S. Soteria ] The image of Captain Eastman soon filled the main viewer as the station's commander accepted their request. It wasn't long before the navigator began to move them as directed from the incoming procedures. It sounded as if they stood ready to receive Perry, but the invitation to meet with Eastman in her office signaled that this wasn't going to be just a simple drop off. Eastman also extended the niceties of leave and maintenance, which Vasser planned to accept but use sparingly. -♦- "Understood. And thank you, Captain for your hospitality. I'll see you shortly." -♦- Vasser exhaled as the viewer went blanked, replaced by the image of the station. As she turned, her eyes settled on Chromar. She knew that her Intelligence Officer would insist on joining her. It wasn't something that she was looking to debate openly. She lifted her hand and spoke into her communicator. -♦- "Vasser to Infirmary. Dr. Bel. Captain Jogann. Frontier Station stands prepared to receive you and our guest. You're to transport directly to Sickbay. Vasser out."-♦- The colonel's eyes then moved towards Gorsk. "Gorsk, you have the Bridge. Coordinate with the station as needed with respect to any maintenance. Forward any personnel issues to Lt. Neema." Vasser's eyes rested upon the woman briefly before moving towards Chromar. "Let's go, Major. We'll take the scenic route."As Vasser began to lead the way towards the turbolift, Chromar turned towards Neema and nodded, gesturing for her to come along. As the trio disappeared from the bridge, Gorsk stood stoically at the center of the Bridge before proceeding to carry out her orders.
[Infirmary, N.S.S. Soteria --> Sickbay, Frontier Station ] -♦- "Acknowleged," -♦- Jogann said. The towering Brikar then turned towards Doctor Bel, who moved towards the patient. In the Breen's hand was the medical padd and strapped over his chest was his own medical kit. He didn't anticipate needing it, but until custody of the patient had been officially transferred, Perry was in his care. The nurse stepped aside and Jogann and a pair of security officers closed in. Seeing that they were prepared, Jogann lifted his large, rocky hand and spoke into his communicator. -♦- "Jogann to main transporter chamber. Five to beam directly to Frontier's Main Sickbay. Transport when ready. -♦- There was a moment's pause, but in that time, Jogann's eyes moved upon the patient. As soon as he began to feel the familiar sensation of the transporter, he began to face front. The Infimary slowly disappeared and was replaced with the sight of Frontier's Main Sickbay. Out of instinct, his eyes began to scout the area for any personnel... and any potential threats. Meanwhile, Doctor Bel had proceeded to scan Perry to make certain the man's condition was the same as it had been prior to their transport.

[ LT Joshua Niles - Ops, Front Ear Station ]Well, just about on cue the Soteria dropped out of warp. [Capt. Judith Eastman(-Williams), PhD - Ops -> Captain Eastman's Office]"That's an apt assessment. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me."Judy had full faith in Niles' superiors - Taggert and Velal - to take the necessary actions, if they hadn't already. She led the way into her office, with a fruit bowl taking the place of the usual pastries - perhaps the Captain had been too busy to bake, or perhaps she was sending a message. "We're going to have to keep up with rapidly changing facts here, while trying to learn whatever we can from people who almost definitely don't want to tell us anything. As counterintuitive as it may be, I don't think we'll get far by treating it as an interrogation," she said to those with her.

[NPC - Commodore (Reserves) Calvin Perry - Sickbay, Front Ear Station]After having spent so long - he wasn't sure how long - in a state of flux, uncertain of anything beyond the day-to-day, Calvin was relieved to be back on Front Ear Station. After what was just a few months of service, it never quite felt like his station, but it was still a familiar place, with some familiar faces. The Nyberrites were awfully tight-lipped, but he understood that Judy and Thea were running the show at the moment - fine choices both. Now, as he materialized on a biobed, he almost felt at home. "Hello."His injuries - some damage to the brain, legs, and lungs - had healed well, a sign he'd received treatment. However, perhaps inevitably, some damage remained.

[Lt. Cmdr. Pierce Taggert - Front Ear - Ops --> CO's Office]And just like that, they were here. The greeting was pleasant enough, but the Commander knew better than to let that color his anticipations. Taggert followed the Captain alongside Lt. Niles as they moved towards her office. Hearing Josh's suggestion for increased personnel, he nodded in agreement. "Already done. Velal has doubled the usual staff on the Promenade, and I have teams stationed both inside Sickbay and guarding the door." It was the best they could do to ensure the safety of both the Commodore and the station residents, without making it obvious they were expecting trouble. He picked up a piece of fruit from the bowl and listened as Judy spoke before he commented again. "Hopefully the Commodore will be more forthcoming than his rescuers."Tag Judith Eastman Joshua Niles [CPO Jovireh Velal - Front Ear - Blue Beta]As Lea made room at the table, Jov took the invitation and sat next to her, picking up the menu and quickly putting in her order. The Soteria would likely be docking soon; she'd need to eat quickly in case she was needed elsewhere. "I honestly don't know how you aren't freaking out right now," she told her friend jokingly. "If I had just promised to spend the rest of my life with just one person, I'd be a panicking wreck." Monogamy was something she just didn't understand. Perhaps it was because she'd never experienced loving someone so much that she stopped being attracted to anyone else. But she was happy for her friend. It was obvious how much she and Riyo loved each other. Tag Leanna Mazal [Lt. Paawin Riyo - Front Ear - Primary Sickbay]Riyo had spent the past hour ensuring everything was ready for the Commodore's arrival - and whatever condition he might be in. As the signal came to prepare for transport, and the security team entered, the Bajoran took a moment to collect himself. He didn't like having a security presence in Sickbay. It reminded him a little too much of the Occupation when such measures were necessary. But he understood the necessity for it now, considering how little information they'd received. Hearing the familiar hum of the transporter, he moved back into the main room, ignoring the people who had materialized with the Commodore, and focused his attention on the patient. "Welcome back, sir. How are you feeling?" The man certainly looked a lot better than the last time Riyo had seen him. Grabbing a tricorder, he began to run his own scans, fighting back the feeling that he was talking to a ghost. Tag Judith Eastman
