[ Mila - Bridge] Some might feel unnerved when a person gazed at them with the same lingering look as Captain Ellis acknowledged what she had said with a nod. Mila, however didn't feel the slightest bit uncomfortable, instead offering the Commander's son with a soft smile, knowing that this was weird for all of them. At the mention of Ops along with tactical in regards to Engineering and keeping them in the loop with the older Kaya and Maddox. Mila was quick to respond with a short reply as it didn't need anything else. " Understood".Returning to the readout on her console, Mila didn't think that any of this would be forgotten as Linus also spoke to the older Rin and those around the working science console. The appearance of the holographic countdown, did little to assuage her nerves but the physical reminder was enough to bring her back to where she needed to be. ************ [ Anaya - Stellar Cartography] Coming into this Anaya knew that it wouldn't be like their many test runs, that resulted in both the negative and positive. Even now, she had to shake off the feeling of doubt as she continued to adjust and compensate where necessary. Having Aya do the same was definitely a plus, before Nork announced their progress so far. Encouraging as it was, they still had some ways to go in the time they had left, as her Mentor began to send what they had accomplished to the Bridge. When he then addressed her with the next set of instructions, Anaya moved her attention to that particular grid area as she responded to Nork. " Acknowledged, moving to grid 6, area 121 - b, will update as necessary" she began, before the warning chirp sounded. That wasn't good as Nork then spoke to Aya to deal with, leaving the hybrid to focus on her own area. Measuring the force of the shears would be simple enough but required precision and so it began, watching them carefully with each passing second.

[ Shavan Th’zhaar - Bridge, USS Mac] As the tense minutes passed, Shavan continued to work on the part of the plan that fell to the Science team, minutely adjusting the calculations to compensate for feedback from the sensors and the rest of the crew. The live data mapping the ellipse and analyzing the precise trajectory and strength of the shears danced across the screen, while transmitting and receiving from Stellar Cartography. The changes to the course aligned with his own strategic calculations. However prepared they were, it would be a daring risk, but this was the kind of danger that he thrived in. (Deepening his understanding of the ellipse was almost easier than confronting the strange feeling he got from older Ic, of something wrong there that kept an unvoiced question in the back of his mind.) ( What else do you know?) His thoughts were briefly interrupted by the opening of the ready room doors. With the medic having finished treating his injuries -his arm now set and in a splint, the burns partially healed- Shavan glanced up and nodded when Commander Ellis’ son reentered the Bridge and spoke directly to him. Meanwhile, he continued to transmit the measurements on the force of the shears to Stellar Cartography. “Adjusting for the data from Stellar Cartography now. The preparations are still on schedule.” They had to be. Felicity Ellis

"We believe so," Linus replied, answering the younger version of his father, "But our scientists can probably explain it better. We have posited that at some juncture the ellipse consumed something which caused massive tachyon interference, and its trajectory and behaviour has been changed since."When conversation turned to the plans, the half-Betazoid, half-human captain shook his head, a rueful smile accompanying the movement. "These are contingencies. Plans B through F involve abandoning one ship and localising crews. All the way to H would be a dire situation indeed. We only get one shot at this. Waiting another 57 years would not be an option for us."An understanding dawned on Felicity. While this other Mac, Linus' Mac, might survive alone in the ellipse for perhaps another six decades, they would not survive together. They would be genetically bottle-necked and even both crews together would not be able to manage a repeat attempt at that stage. When she nodded, her jaw tight, Linus began to rise. "If you will both excuse me, I will check on the progress on the Bridge. Things seem... Unsteady."With one more lingering look at the pair of them, he began to walk toward the doors, and then disappeared behind them. "Well." Felicity leaned back in her seat, suddenly keenly aware that she was alone with Myker Vulbrix, with no buffer in-between for her to focus her attention on. In these situations sarcasm was always the answer. "Isn't this fun. So educational."
Tags: Myker Vulbrix [ Prime!Myker – Ready Room – USS Mac] Myker wasn’t without humour, he just tended to find it once out of the thick of situation. His focus was always to resolve what was happening and laugh about it later. Although that was often by means of darker almost taunting humour that few people appreciated. There was also the fact she was his superior officer, which is perhaps what made the whole thing that much more uncomfortable. Her hopes for some respite didn’t go amiss from his wandering mind though and he looked at her out the corner of his eye, "Anyone who smiles in crisis has found someone to blame.” His tone wasn’t serious but neither was it overly jovial, it was simply flat as usual even though he wasn’t serious. With his statement of needing to help he stood, which was followed by instant regret as vertigo set in, he ended up simply flopping back down in his seat grateful for the fact he’d eaten very little otherwise it would make an unwelcome reappearance. He scrubbed a hand down his face as he tried to shift the fatigue that seemed to engulf him suddenly joining the headache and nausea in making everything just much worse. His attention shifted to the woman again when she spoke, he wasn’t sure what the look was that he caught a glimpse of but he nodded at her words assuming she was referring to Linus. Despite his attempts to set all feelings aside and focus on the outcome, there was huge sense of pride. Not only for Linus who was proving himself to be a excellent Captain but also for himself, or at least his older self, because the Commander was a fairly good choice in the human genetic pool but he wasn’t Vulcan, he was a Betazoid and likely that outcome had spawned from something emotional and not simply what made the most sense. This thought had Myker blushing again, because this was his superior officer he was thinking about. He quickly quelled the pride and the tinge of shame that came with the idea of Linus being a mix of him and Felicity. ”uh yeah, that he certainly is. Both figuratively and literally.” The man answered. Linus had been keeping a pretty cool head throughout this and even Myker found it to be impressive. A calm, steady mind was essential in times of crisis and Linus seemed to have grasped that. ”Hardly a surprise, he was probably trained by some of the greatest minds” Myker added a moment later the statement fact and said in a tone that conveyed that, deciding not to point out that genetic likely played a role to avoid making this whole interaction that much more uncomfortable. Although not a geneticist his anthropology studies had touched on the subject. It had Myker thinking on the subject of nature or nurture and if they’d had the time he’d have valued a conversation with Linus and the other of the crews offspring. No doubt though Linus did learn much from the many great minds aboard the Mac. ”I certainly see where he got the command skills from.” Myker stated genuine in his words and it was the truth nobody would argue with him on that one. Although Linus’ command would be put to the test when it finally came down to the task. Felicity Ellis

{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Quoted Posts, Prime!Nork Old!Kaya} [ Old!Kaya | Engineering ]Maddox was in good spirits, cracking jokes in the face of an unstoppable eternity bearing down on them. Always with the effort, Mads. He wouldn't waste time. He suggested they form groups. "I agree. Let's do that," Kaya told him. Then she moved further into Engineering raising her voice to be heard better, even as she moved closer to Nork. It was time to spell some things out. "Here's what we're going to do! Listen close. Our Mac has been in the ellipse for fifty-seven years and we the gravimetric distortion oscillations pretty well mapped. There's a predictable pattern and our window is coming up." As she spoke, Etienne Fournier, a petty officer, began to step forward. At first he couldn't quite believe it, but the more Kaya spoke, the more he heard it - the uncanny cadence of the Kaya he knew. "Chief? That really is you?" Etienne Fournier spoke up. His dark hair was mussed and was cradling his arm. Kaya nodded, and tried to be patient. "Yeah. It's me. Temporal anomaly and all that. Are you good?" Etienne chuckled and nodded. "Yes. I'm good.""Alright. So! Neither single ship has enough power to exit the ellipse, but together we will have enough juice. This Mac needs to be ready to handle all the extra power. Three teams - some of you with me, some of you with Mads here, and the rest of you with Ensign Nork." Kaya clapped Nork on the shoulder, then patted his greenish cheek with a strange tenderness. "Be a help, Nork." The crew hesitated for only a moment before most of them began moving into place. For some of the more clever engineers, they already had an idea of what was needed to at least start preparing the ship for the massive power conduction. Charlie Fox (Nork), Myker Vulbrix (Maddox) Everyone ignored him. This was not an unusual experience for Nork, and he often hypothesized that the reason was because that many, humans in particular, felt uncomfortable in his presence. Based on his own observations and those of other Vulcans within Starfleet that had been published, Nork believed that was because of his superior capabilities. Engineering became a flurry of activity. The workers seemed... excited. Suddenly they were moving with more purpose. They were responding to these new orders in a manner that appeared opposite to how they had acted when Nork had arrived. It was curious. And then the decrepit version of Kaya Som touched him. Twice. His eyes became large as he stared back, trying to process the touch, what it meant, and why he found it quite compelling. "We will begin by adjusting the energy protocols for the relevant Anodyne relays." After another moment of hesitation, during which time he had stared at Kaya, and then at Maddox, he wandered stiffly off toward a console, expecting the best programmers of the staff to follow suit. It would not do for systems to begin shutting down upon receipt of such power.
Tags: Kaya Som , Myker Vulbrix (Maddox) [ Old!Maddox - Engineering - Prime!Mac] Maddox mostly ignored Nork because he ignored everyone, he tended to have either a hyper focus or no focus at all and over the years he’d learnt how to make sure the hyper focused occurred when it mattered the most like now when both Mac’s needed them to be focused. Maddox was sure Linus would want them working quickly, the had much to be done but with the hands they had he was convinced it would work out. Nork may have been skilled, but leadership took something more than simply head knowledge and while the Vulcan had done a good job to get the engineering teams working, they needed more than that and hope was a powerful motivator. Maddox was trying to keep upbeat, although the situation was tense and a lot weighed on getting this right, he was the ‘if you didn’t laugh, you’d cry’ type of person and so stuck to that even through the worst of things. However jovial he was, it was time to work and when it came down to it, he wasn’t going to waste time. Maddox was already deciding who would do what when his Kaya started explaining the situation. Everyone seemed clear on what had to be done and Maddox noted the expressions on each of their faces, some still recovering from the shock of Kaya being there in front of them…just much older. ” This whole thing is wacky but it’ll make an interesting story for your kids now lets not get hung up on Kaya’s age. We’re racing against time.” The man said to Fournier, feeling the need to speed this along. Maddox hadn’t ever been patient, rather choosing to do things himself than wait for others but that simply wasn’t an option so hurrying them along was what he had to do. "So in layman’s terms, work together and work fast we’re on the clock.” Maddox figured he should interject with his lesser detailed version of Kaya’s words. He had enough faith that the people down here knew exactly what needed to be done to accommodate the extra power that would flood the core. ” To work gremlins!” Maddox said with a wave of his hand, as people paired off to work on their tasks. Maddox lingered behind a moment with Kaya and looked at the Vulcan, ” Nice work keeping things going down here Nork.” There was no mocking in his tone, just gratitude for the man. Nork keeping things at least partially functional down here would save them time. His younger self hadn’t ever thanked the man but after 57 years in the ellipse he’d come to realise everyone deserved and needed recognition. Even the Vulcans. We should isolate any systems that can't take that kind of power. We do not want to blow something up and have the whole thing go on the fritz" Maddox said as Nork moved to a console power could be a funny thing like that especially since this Mac hadn't had the same adjustments that had been made to their Mac. {Quoted Posts} [Lt. JG Cirjess Miren - USS Mac - Scapegoat Lounge]Don't kill anyone. Of course he wasn't going to kill anyone. He wasn't the one wielding a hypospray! Though as he knelt to inspect a headwound, Cerjess realized there was very little he could actually do to help these people. Well, he could line them up in order of severity to make it easier for Gates... but he didn't think these terrified and injured people would appreciate being herded around the lounge. So instead, after determining the headwound was not severe, he helped that person to move to sit against the wall. As he was turning to the next, his gaze fell upon a pair of newcomers that entered the lounge. Now that was just creepy. The Trill male looked like he could he be his older twin brother. And the girl that addressed Kova... His jaw dropped, brown eyes widening as he looked between the hybrid, the Andorian, and... himself? There was no way... [Cerjess Miren - USS Mac - Scapegoat Lounge]Nothing could have prepared him for the moment his gaze landed on her. The air was knocked from his lungs, and for a moment he just stared at her. It wasn't until he heard her icy reply to his daughter - their daughter - that he was able to get his body to move. When Kova thankfully went to work with Chel-E and the computer, Cerjess rested a hand on Zyri's shoulder. "I'll go talk to her. Why don't you go help Gates or the younger me with the injured?" He'd known this Kova wouldn't be receptive to the idea of a family. But for Zyri's sake, he hoped he could get her to at least not brush the girl off so quickly. With a steadying breath, he walked over to lean against the wall facing the woman he had once - or would someday? - be head over heels in love with. "People change when they're stuck on a ship, in a spatial anomaly, for decades. At some point, you realize you'd be willing to do just about anything to cure the boredom and cabin fever." That was how they had gotten started, after all. At some point, the only excitement that was left to be had was with each other. A sly grin spread across his face as he recalled back. "I still remember the first time you struck me. I was so confused, I almost ruined the mood. That was when you figured out the fastest way to get me to shut up was to kiss me." And that was a trick she never hesitated to use to her advantage. "I know you're not the same person I was with. But she's a child that doesn't remember the woman who sacrificed herself to make sure she came into the world as healthy as possible. She also inherited your intelligence and talent. Zyri can help you with the computer systems better than anyone else on this ship. You don't have to like her, just please don't be cold towards her." Cerjess had no idea how this little speech would be received, but it was all he could do for Zyri to have the chance to spend at least some time with Kova, even if it wasn't their Kova. [ Rin Zakir Scapegoat Lounge- USS Mac] Having been led by his apparent future daughter to sickbay, it soon became clear that this hadn't been the place for minor injuries. Hence how he had ended up in the Scapegoat Lounge, where a triage centre of sorts had been set up. It was frustrating, knowing that something big was going down and he was stuck here with a broken arm, but he nevertheless took a seat and patiently awaited his turn. He recognised the petty officer who seemed to be in charge (Gates, was it?), but there was another face their who name he definitely knew. It seemed both he and the trill man were destined to keep bumping into each other while their lives were at stake, but he still couldn't resist calling out to him. Not to get his injury tended to any quicker (as he was would rather wait than be one of those who needed help faster) but because he had to. "Hey Miren, please tell me the bar's open!", he called over as he cradled his injured arm. At least the bone hadn't managed to protrude from the skin or anything, but hang on...oh don't tell him...was that 'Cerjess senior'? Okay, so the award for the weirdest mission so far went to... [Lt. JG Cerjess Miren - USS Mac - Scapegoat Lounge]Hearing a voice call his name, Cerjess looked over to see Zak had entered the lounge. Oh sure, because things just kept getting better and better. Normally he'd be happy to see the young Bajoran, but having him walk into the room while the older version of himself was flirting with Kova was a bit too much for him to process. "If you can find an intact bottle, pour me one too!" Unfortunately, that would likely have to wait until they made it out of this anomaly. Or until they were hopelessly trapped. Wrapping a bar towel around a woman's lacerated arm to stop the bleeding, he helped her sit against the wall before turning back to Rin. "Need help with that arm?" he asked as he stepped closer, hoping for a distraction from the weirdness that was beginning to surround him. [NPC - Zyri Zh'raal, Scapegoat Lounge, Deck 10, USS Mac ] There were a number of things Zyri had expected, but such an icy reception from Kova wasn't it. She expected disbelief, but not dismissal. She could feel her father's hand on her shoulder, comforting her and promising to talk to Kova. He had always found a way to fix everything, but Zyri had her doubts that he'd be able to do anything about this. He told her to go and help Gates or his younger self. For a while Zyri was certainly frozen. Her eyes followed her father as he moved towards Kova. In many ways it was a majestic moment she had dreamed of, but it was tainted. Of course, dreams rarely lived up to the reality. The woman she had been told about had done everything possible to bring her into this world. Her shreya had sacrificed so much of herself, undergoing surgeries, transplants, guiding genetic therapy and even finding a surrogate to carry Zyri to term. Of course, the woman across the lounge wasn't her shreya... at least by her own admission. Her eyes drifted to her father's younger self as her 'parents' talked. Zyri wasn't entirely sure if she should approach him. After all, she wasn't sure if she could take both of her younger parents rejecting her. Of course, she couldn't imagine her father ever denying her existence. Still, to stay on the safe side of things, perhaps a little distance was warranted for now. Besides, a much younger Zakir had found him. It made her wonder just how much was similar to what she knew. And then there was Gates. Looking at him, Zyri could only thing that he was young... cute. She began to wonder... was she staring? She could feel her cheeks warm as she began to blush. She had been about to look away, before he noticed her stare when she felt someone grab her wrist. It was someone that had been injured, simply asking for help. Zyri wanted to help, but could feel it on her arm. She jerked her arm from his grasp and stared at her wrist. It wasn't the blood that bothered her, but feeling it smeared across her skin. She wheezed a few times as she could feel the panic swelling within her. Her hand shook and then her eyes slowly rolled upwards as her legs collapsed beneath her and she crumbled to the floor.
[ Kova Sh'qaleq - Scapegoat Lounge, Deck 10, USS Mac ] It wasn't enough for them to actually leave her alone after torturing her with this dark fantasy. No, Spots felt inclined to come over and actually try to defend the honor of that... girl. The way he spoke... as if they were so familiar with one another. As if they had shared a lifetime together. Well, as far as Kova was concerned... they hadn't. Thus, he was wasting his breath. She didn't even feel inclined to tell him as much. Though his words were clearly suggesting that such a pairing between the two of them had come about by some circumstance. Kova scoffed. "You would be so lucky," she said glancing at him before turning her attention back to the console, monitoring Chel-E's progress. Thus far, the A.I. had been performing just as they had suggested. Yet the elder-Cerjess continued to spout his rants like an annoying ice-gnat. Of course, it was difficult to focus when he was suggesting that she had actually pursued him. "Actually, I can think of several other ways of shutting you up. Care to try one?" Her fingers tightened into a fist as she stood there. Perhaps he was waiting for Kova to shut him up, because she didn't care for everything else he had to say. Suggesting that Zyri was a child with some idolized memory of a mother that sacrificed a great deal for her. Kova rolled her eyes annoyed with these... lies. He suggested that she had inherited her skills and talents. Kova scoffed. "And yet, she couldn't hack Chel-E?" Kova rolled her eyes and continued to try and dismiss elder-Cerjess' claims. As he told Kova not to be cold towards Zyri, the Andorian had heard enough. "No!" she snapped. "Why would ever do... that! " Kova pointed in Zyri's direction. "Look at her! She's... pink! And her breathing... what's wrong with her?" Kova shook her head, but did managed to keep her voice low. Andorian DNA wasn't compatible with most species, at least not without genetic therapy (and that was under the best of circumstances.) The sound of a body falling to the deck, caused her antennae to curl as she turned to see the pink heap of flesh now curled on the floor.

[Petty Officer Kellen Gates - Scapegoat Lounge]Things were all going very wrong. Gatesy wasn't an "I Told You So" merchant, but well, he'd called it. He looked up to meet the fairly intense stare of the young girl, the one that was claiming relation to Kova, and blinked. Why was she staring? Did she know his older self? What unfolded then was quick, but once he spotted the signs of shock, the end result became inevitable. Without hesitation, Kellen approached the young pile of collapsed hybrid. "Zyri? Zyri. Focus on my voice, can you hear me?" He had his tricorder out in seconds and was checking her vitals. "Everyone please stand back and give her some room."The readings were consistent with shock and considering the situation, he couldn't say he was surprised at her reaction to the blood and the sick and the recriminations. "Has she any underlying conditions?" He asked, his tone sharp as he addressed the girl's apparent father.

[ Prime!Myker – Ready Room – USS Mac] Myker wasn’t without humour, he just tended to find it once out of the thick of situation. [Felicity Ellis - Ready Room, USS Mac]"You're too kind," she murmured, a blush overtaking her cheeks again, this time spreading with pesky persistence toward her neck at Myker's compliment. Under normal circumstances she'd have dismissed it with a self-deprecating comment or joke; Felicity was not good at receiving praise, but this situation was hardly normal. "He definitely got the strong and silent thing from you, though."Suddenly, she was completely overwhelmed by how amazingly bizarre the conversation was, and while she fought the urge to laugh - or cry, she wasn't quite sure - she found herself coming to the realisation that Vulbrix was a crew member she could potentially rely on. There were crew who were good at their jobs and put in some solid work, there were crew who challenged their peers and their Captain, and then there were crew who formed the backbone of the ship. Myker Vulbrix, to Felicity, seemed like the latter. She'd called his reluctance to stand down earlier when faced with crisis, despite his injury. It was something they had in common. Felicity stood from her seat and approached the replicator. "Fresh water, still, 15°C. Two glasses." The fact that he'd failed to remain upright had concerned her, so she picked up the two containers and handed one to him. "We'll help where we can, then we'll deal with ourselves when we can." There would be injury time, sick leave and mental well-being leave to consider, but she couldn't even wrap her head around the possibility of them getting out of the ellipse yet, never mind what would happen afterward.

Tag Rin Zakir [ Lt.JG Rin Zakir - Scapegoat Lounge - USS Mac] Despite the pain and the organised (ish) chaos around him, Zak flashed the older man a small smile at his remark. Maybe now wasn't the best time, but he sure could with it! He really needed to be back on the bridge though, although he currently had the unusual advantage of being in two places at once. His mind then wandered to the bajoran women, who while older than he was now, were perhaps young enough to be his older selfs kids. yeah, he was definitely going to need that drink later! "I wouldn't say no", he then replied to Cerjess offer of help. His eyes drifted to what looked like the man's older self, speaking with...Kova, was it? He wasn't familiar with the andorian, but he had heard that her attitude matched the tundra that her people called her home. He then shifted his gaze to the conspicuously pink andorian, complete with what looked like trill spots. Was that even possible? Clearly yes, but he was pretty sure that andorians had four sexes and trill had the usual two. Oh well, it wasn't as if that was anyone of his business, but as she crumpled to the floor, he couldn't help but wince. "Unless of course you're needed elsewhere, then I'm sure I'll live", he assured his would be medic. "I really need to back on the bridge asap, but some of these people need help more than I do", he added. He wasn't selfish, after all!
[ Rin Aya - Stellar Cartography - USS Mac] With one third of the route now calculated, Aya started to really feel as though they could actually pull this off! Well, she hadn't doubted it, exactly, but their fate was now in the hands of the Prophets, as he father would put it. Nork then drew her attention to a particular grid reference, which she zoomed in on to take a better look. Not that she would be able to identify the object from where she was, but sending the info to tactical was far from the worst thing they could do. Besides, if they crashed into something, then they would probably be done for! [ PO3 Eliska Bremmer - Turbolift -> Bridge, USS Mac ]{Quoted Posts} [Lt. JG Syl O'Connell - USS Mac - Turbolift]While Syl was glad Eliska didn't ask about what the old woman was referring to, she ran a hand through her hair in nervousness and frustration. The blind reassurance wasn't as comforting as it would have been normally... Likely because it was her entire career they were secretly talking about. "It's so much more complicated than that," she muttered quietly, glaring daggers at the back of her future self for putting her in this position. The turbolift doors slid open to deposit them on the Bridge once more, and she gave Eliska's hand a small squeeze before following the other Syl to the helm. It was time to learn something new, apparently.
Tag Eliska Bremmer It hardly took a counselor or a mind-reader to know that indeed there was a great deal under the surface, and that it bothered Syl a great deal, even before she said so. But, if Bremmer was any judge, there was no malice behind her keeping that kind of a secret; if she was doing so, she had good reasons to do so, and that was enough for the Petty Officer. The worst she could do was pry in any way. She trusted Syl O'Connell implicitly, and that meant if she had to keep something close to the vest, she would trust it was not with intent to harm her in any way. Just as the doors hissed open, she felt the pilot's hand squeeze hers one last time, and she made her way for her station. And now that she was back on the Bridge, Bremmer made her way for Tactical Two. Not that she was an expert, but at least she could read off displays and keep track of things... if she knew what she was looking for. Which, frankly, would be better if she asked rather than guess. "Sir, just let me know what you need me to do, I'll... try not to get anyone killed," she simply announced while logging into the console.

[ Anaya - Stellar Cartography] Coming into this Anaya knew that it wouldn't be like their many test runs, that resulted in both the negative and positive. "I see it, she confirmed before opening communications to the bridge. =/\= "Aya to bridge, I'm sending you a grid reference where we have found an unidentified object. Going to need a threat assessment on that, Dad"=/\=, she communicated, knowing that her father would likely still be on tactical. Though lacking Nork's more formal approach (which most had abandoned decades ago), she felt as if she got the point across. She hoped that there really was nothing to worry about, though. [Old!Nork - Stellar Cartography, USS Mac]The Vulcan nodded in acknowledgement once his two assistants had alerted the relevant departments to the potential route obstructions. While they waited, there was nothing else to do but to continue study of the scan overlay. They were making excellent time. So much so that Nork began to believe that there might be a window for the personal aspect of his plan, after all. Keeping his eyes on his console screen, he deviated from his work and began tapping out a message... to his younger self. As soon as the message was sent, Nork's considered gaze was back on the readings. "52% completion."

[Linus Ellis - Bridge, USS Mac]"Thank you," Linus responded to those who had checked in. Reports were coming in throughout the ship, and they seemed to be on schedule. He was very aware of the countdown display. As necessary as it was, it was also somewhat oppressive. "Stellar Cartography are almost ready. Once we hear from Engineering, we can make the shield modifications. Ops, stand by to assist with a staggered ship-wide transport of all crew from my Mac."Hopefully there would be no goodbyes. Hopefully this would be more of a "see you on the other side" - in the literal sense.

[ Anaya - Stellar Cartography] Why did this feel so strange yet completely normal?, perhaps it was just their simulations finally being brought to life or the added pressure to get it done otherwise they'd be stuck here forever. Whatever was making her feel this way, was a distraction that Anaya didn't need right now, as she heard Aya contact her Father regarding the object that they had been alerted too. Complications were to be expected or at least taken into consideration, but for the hybrid, it was if her very life depended on it. The stress, the hope, the restless nights could very well be a thing of the past pardon the pun if she just held on and remembered why she was here. The shears were so far acting as they usually did, showing no obvious sign of becoming problematic. Giving Anaya a sliver of genuine relief, especially as Nork informed them that they had reached 52% completion. If things continued along this trajectory then it wouldn't be long until they could leave for their Mac, not wanting to think about having to say goodbye, because they shouldn't need too. That's until the very issue that she didn't want to happen, happened as the console underneath her fingertips, alerted her to the problem. " Dammit ..." she began as she activated a channel to Science on the Bridge, knowing that Nork and Aya would also be able to hear. =/\= Anaya to Science, sensors have detected several strong shears, attempting to compensate but we'll need to adjust our route by 12.4 km =/\=Refraining from cursing further, Anaya awaited their reply as she worked to give them a better chance. ************** [ Mila - Bridge] Mila smiled at the thanks that she and the others had received from Linus, before the Captain of the other Mac gave further instructions. Her job was clear but also needed precision if she was to beam everyone and deposit them in the right place. " Acknowledged, standing by for transport" she replied as she heard her future daughter's voice directed to Science. That didn't sound good at all but Mila still sent a silent prayer to the gods, assuming they were listening, so they could get out of this intact.

"You're too kind," she murmured, a blush overtaking her cheeks again, this time spreading with pesky persistence toward her neck at Myker's compliment.
Tag: Myker Vulbrix [ Myker Vulbrix - Ready Room - Prime!Mac] The Commander's blush drew no comment from Myker, he didn't plan to point it out and inevitably make the red hue she'd taken on worse. He chose rather to point out the credibility of his statement, "It's the truth Commander, I believe the crew would agree and flattery is hardly my style."Myker pointed out. Being 'too kind' as she put it could be considered flattery, Myker was simply pointing out a fact even if the Commander wasn't the best at receiving praise it was well earned or so the Betazoid believed. Myker nodded about Linus, a proud smile teased at his features barely there and gone before it came, "Reticence can be an asset in difficult situations. Our reactions tend not get in the way of what needs to be done." he said. He was careful not to make it seem like that meant Linus and by extension himself didn't care. On the contrary, he was as emotionally charged,if not more, as the rest of the crew were. He just didn't allow his internal emotions and struggles to become external ones, something Vulcans could appreciate and other Betazoid possibly wouldn't understand. Myker wasn't inclined to have conversations with anyone beyond what was absolutely necessary on a professional level. Their conversation wasn't one he'd even fathomed having with the Commander but it may have broken the ice so to speak and sort of forced the Betazoid through his usual aversion to actually holding any conversation. Myker wasn't sure he'd ever make complete sense of it but at least now to some degree Ellis wasn't a complete stranger. No doubt there were many such conversations happening abroad the ship that day, unusual and probably awkward ones that would prove to strengthen the ties of the Mac crew both professionally and personally. Myker had seen it enough times to know that to be the case, it's that sort of thing that made a rag-tag group of people into a strong, united crew. Myker would stand by his Commander and the crew under whatever circumstances, he was old school in that duty came first. He'd lay down everything he had for the greater good. The battle for his home planet only entrenched this deeper within him, carving it into his very being. That meant doing whatever was necessary to help get out of there an idea that seemed far-off. It was like something in a dream they were reaching out for but never quite catching. Myker had considered the possibility that they could get out, but no doubt the crews would be changed, both of them. Nobody simply sees an alternate future and walks away untouched and they wouldn't be sure if it's for better or for worse until they reached the other side. If they reached the other side. If they made it through this. Myker accepted the glass from Felicity, "Thanks" he replied looking up at the woman, dark eyes trying to focus. He nodded at her words and that had always been his intent, help first, worry about everything else later. " They'll soon be ready to move back to their own ship. We're probably going to need our commander on the Bridge once Captain Ellis returns to his. I will assist wherever needed." Myker noted, although not quite smiling, the usual frown had softened some. "You...know once I can walk out of here without hitting the deck…" It was time to get down to it and he wasn't convinced either crew was ready but time didn't wait so they'd have to trust in their crew from whichever time and take the leap. A leap of faith it certainly would be. Felicity Ellis

[ SCPO Kaya Som - Sickbay | Old!Kaya et. al. - Engineering ]In Sickbay Kaya situated herself in the biobed, finding it harder than she'd thought to get a comfortable position for her recently healing innerds. She clipped the commbadge to the hospital gown and balanced the PADD on her lap. "Som to Engineering, status report." Down in Engineering, ears perked up at the voice of their absent chief Engineer. The more aged Kaya paused and considered before answering. She smiled. It was always bizarre hearing your own voice, but Kaya's truely did sound to her all too young. The older Kaya provided the update as the others looked on. "Everything's fine. Nork is under control. We're prepping to get out of here." In sickbay, bed-bound Kaya was taken aback. Lack of protocol over comms was a clue, but it was her. Her voice from far in the future! Her face lit up alone there on the bio bed with all the privacy Dr. Harrison had promised, her throat suddenly tight with emotion. "Okay, great. Um." she responded suddenly struck speechless. Encountering a copy of yourself, Kaya had thought about it before. What would you do if you met your clone, or your past self, or your future self - all the prompts of late-night party discussions had a similar bent and Kaya's answer was always the same. She laughed to herself and tapped in again. "Do you need any help? I can't come down there. I'm in sickbay." Down in Engineering, the older Kaya was moved by the emotion in her own voice. She looked to Maddox hoping he understood what she had to do. "We're alright here. Don't move. Kaya out." With a last look at Engineering, at everyone who knew what to do, at Nork who was more capable than she ever gave him credit for, and at her spouse, Kaya left to find herself. [ Exit Old!Kaya ] [ Sickbay ]Sickbay was busy but this time there was hope in the air. The older Kaya found her way back to the recovery suites. The door slid open and she saw herself look up from where she was on the bed, PADD in lap. "Vek'tema..." she breathed. The younger Kaya had the same response, defied doctor's orders and slid from the bed, her bare feet taking the floor. The two Kayas didn't hesitate in their approach. The older took the younger's face in her hands. Younger Kaya's cheeks were smooth and plump, her hair still a thick chestnut brown, her spots clear and not hazy. The younger Kaya had put her hands on top of hers, cold on Trill cold, feeling the other's knobby joints and calloused fingers. They spoke to each other in Trill. «You're crying,» said the elder. «I always said that if I met another version of myself,» younger Kaya began with a shaky laugh, «that we'd make out.» Elder Kaya was already smiling, her smile big, her heart full. She knew, of course. They'd lived the same twenty-eight years. Elder Kaya leaned forward and gently kissed younger Kaya's forehead. She lingered there for a long moment knowing it was a cosmically sacred moment. She held hope in her hands for the first time in decades in a way even the mothers never had. The younger Kaya relaxed deeply into it, knowing the same thing. When the Elder Kaya pulled away and released the younger from her hands, the younger had so many questions but she led with a compliment. «We look good! I love the grey.» Elder Kaya laughed. «Yeah, thanks. Dignified, really. You, though, enjoy that arse while you can.» Younger Kaya laughed but immediately winced, holding her tummy. The elder's face fell and she reached to help her back to the bed. The younger Kaya showed off the doctor's handiwork. The elder admired it, the lack of any scar. It was just a bit red. «Oh, look at that. Much better than mine. He save yours?» The younger Kaya shook her head no. «It's still in there, but I can't join.» There wasn't anything to be said. Kaya knew that Kaya knew what Kaya knew. They'd felt the same way on this day. The only difference was that today, Kaya had Kaya there to understand it all exactly.

[Cerjess Miren - USS Mac - Scapegoat Lounge]The older Cerjess stared at the young Andorian woman in front of him. He never knew her at this age. Not really. They had been stuck for quite some time before they'd said anything more than brief acknowledgements to each other. That meant he didn't know how to get through to her. Gritting his teeth, he sighed in defeat. At least he tried, but he couldn't help but feel like he was letting his daughter down. "She can, but when she realized Chel-E was still in your mobile device she decided it was better to ask." A small fib, but they wouldn't be on this ship long enough for it to matter. "And it wasn't like we knew how she would look before she was born." Zyri's unique hybrid appearance never bothered him. In fact, he always believed she would grow up to be quite stunning. But it was clear this Kova didn't agree. Hearing his daughter's name being called from behind him, he turned to see her passed out and the young Gates tending to her. Futile conversation abandoned, he rushed to kneel at her side. "She was born with underdeveloped lungs," he explained to the medic, reaching into the girl's pocket for her mask. "Stress makes it difficult for her to get enough oxygen." After carefully fitting the mask in place, he reached down to take her hand. [Lt. JG Cerjess Miren - USS Mac - Scapegoat Lounge]As he was searching for another clean bar towel, the scientist was relieved to find an emergency med kit behind the bar. Grabbing it, he moved over to Zak, following the Bajoran's gaze to the newcomers. Another surge of discomfort washed through him, and he shook his head quickly. "Future me can take care of my future daughter." That sounded so weird. "I'd really rather not have to think about it." Opening the kit, he searched for a moment before finding the osteoregenerator, and got to work on Zak's injured arm.
