[ MCPO Ozu Saya - LZ 1 - Kerelia] Saya flinched hard and ducked slightly when the scream suddenly sounded from the trees. The hairs on her arms stood on end and she shuddered. If we can't leave, then perhaps we should stop all unnecessary activity and shut of all the technology that we can. Go completely dark if possible. I'm not sure what else to do. Perhaps one of the scientists could scan the one Mr. Malik caught and start getting us some data. I can have the engineering crew finish cleaning up and then start making sure that every device we have is shut down completely. I can't imagine what else could be affecting the creatures so dramatically unless it's our mere presence. Perhaps this clearing is a particular hunting or resting ground for them.Saya shrugged. She didn't know much about xenobiology, but she knew that signals from technology could sometimes be damaging for some species.
Tag Felicity Ellis [Felicity Ellis - LZ-1, Kerelia]The collective scream was one of the eeriest sounds she'd ever heard. She crossed her arms against her chest and hunched just a little, as though looking to protect herself from the experience. Every instinct was telling her to run, to pick up her ball and go home after all, but she forced herself to look away from the trees. Instead she focused on what Saya was saying. Felicity wasn't sure how much working tech they had left, but she couldn't help but welcome and agree with the Chief's suggestions. "Let's make that happen," she said in regard to the first portion of her recommendations. "Everything but the essentials deactivated. Triage will need to stay lit of course, and the field towers." She trusted the other woman to see to it. She was already forcing her attention away from the creatures outside the LZ, whose chorus was beginning to grate on her. "The behaviour would certainly suggest that something about us, or our equipment, has triggered this reaction. Either way, we don't seem long for this planet."But first, some data. She moved toward the container that was hopping and shifting around with increased frequency, in response, Felicity assumed, to what the others were doing. "We should secure this one before we try anything else." Felicity tugged the tricorder Sinclair had given her earlier, and wondered if close proximity would yield clearer results.

She went to her engineers first, one to the next, taking a few minutes to quietly check in with them, make sure no one needed medical assistance, then telling them to shut down anything with a power signature. She'd leave medical for last, knowing they still had a couple of patients, but hoping that they'd be able to shut down some of their equipment by the time she got there. After speaking with all of the engineers, Saya made her way to the small group of civilians. She didn't know any of them well, so she hoped that they'd listen to her request. Excuse me, she said. We believe that our technology may be causing the creatures to attack us. Would you shut down any technology you have on you? Anything with a power signature, at least until we've had a chance to gather more information.

[Kerelia, LZ-1, Ark] "Everything is better from the air, pretty much nothing can touch you." At the creature inside Cara's bag he chuckled, "it looks friendly enough compared to its friends, it'll probably be calmer for the thing in the Ark. We should probably get going."He gestured for Cara to lead the way as Malik walked up the ramp and through the interior towards the cockpit, indicating Cara could take the co-pilot's seat next to him. He began to run through the pre-flight checklist; mainly initiating power, running quick diagnostics of primary systems, priming the thrusters and impulse engines. He then heard the collective scream outside of more of those creatures from earlier. Apparently the beasts had returned and in greater number, he glanced to Cara. "Looks like we've got company again."He looked back through the interior to see if anyone else wished to jump onboard before they set off. [LZ-1, Ark - Kerelia] Cara needed no further invitation to climb aboard. She was more than ready to kick the dust of Kerelia from her boots, and the further away from the ‘Cara-nivorous’ beasties, the better. The interior of the craft was a welcome relief from the humidity of the jungle and she plopped down in her seat with a sigh. The counselor wasn’t really made for wilderness expeditions, and did not claim to be otherwise. Carefully she set her bag down on the floor, open enough that PooDoo could exit if and when she pleased. It was safer than wandering the jungle. Hopefully Doug wouldn’t mind. She cringed at the sound of the beasts' cacophonous screams. ”Hopefully, we can get this up in the air before they figure out a way around the shields for a second helping.” She followed Malik with her eyes as she spun in the chair to see who else was boarding. The increase of the agitated emotions coming from the trees combined with the equally agitated emotions and buzzing thoughts of the crew were giving Lurai a headache. She was somewhat relieved as Captain Ellis asked her to go on the survey flight with Grippen, as that meant she'd get some distance from all these thoughts. Med kit hanging over her shoulder she walked over towards the Ark, massaging her temples in a vain attempt to ease the headache. Almost at the vessel, the background noise of thoughts, feelings and not least pain exploded into a cacophony of screams and despair. With a cry, Lurai fell to her knees, hands clutching her head, hyperventilating. Fighting to block out the overwhelming sensations of pain, she lifted her head and saw that Malik was making the Ark ready for takeoff. She acted out of pure force of habit, before realising what she was doing. A single word appeared in Malik's mind, spoken by Lurai's voice crying out without passing through her vocal cords first: Wait!As soon as she'd done it, she felt a pang of guilt. She knew that non-Betazoids felt uneasy about telepathy. She hadn't meant to do it, it had just slipped out of her head. There was no time to dwell on that right now, though, instead she ran towards the Ark and pretty much fell through the door. She managed a breathless ”Room for one more?” before sliding down against the nearest wall, hands clutching her head. [Rylonis Trellgin, Kerelia, LZ-1, Ark] Rylonis had chosen to do what she did best for a time, stay back and watch. She found herself at her best when she could just observe others and even unknown creatures. But now there was a ship going up to survey to try to find others of the creatures, that was part of her expertise. She jogged up to the aircraft. " Hey, I'm ensign Rylonis Trellgin, I think I can be of help on this survey. My specialty is archaeology, meaning I know what to look for in regards to settlements and things," she says with a grin. " That is if you've got room for me," she adds. Cara hopped up to her feet immediately upon seeing the distressed ensign. Her hand moved hesitantly toward her bag for the medkit, but a furred and more importantly clawed paw shot out. She’d have to find a med scanner elsewhere for now. ”More the merrier, s’far as I’m concerned, Ensign Trellgin.” She offhandedly noted the woman was also Trill, but unjoined thankfully. ”Sharp eyes will be necessary for the task at hand.” As she talked to Trellgin, she made her way over to where the other woman sat, propped against the wall. The counselor squatted down next to her, clearly concerned. ”Hey there, did you take some sort of head injury in the attack?” Cara squinted at the woman and caught sight of her black eyes. Understanding clicked in then. ”Oh! Betazoid. You must be tapped into the screaming meanies out there. Now, this is speaking without giving you a proper scan, but I’m willing to bet your paracortex is being overworked right now.”Cara placed a gentle hand on the woman’s shoulder, trying to give her some sort of comfort. Over her shoulder, she looked at Malik. ”Probably good to take off now, I’m sure some distance between us and them will do her a world of good.”
Tags: Malik Grippen Lurai Sren Rylonis Trellgin [Kerelia, Ark, above LZ-1] Malik squinted at the unexpected mental intrusion into his thoughts, but he understood why Lurai felt the need to do it; things were going from bad to worse it would seem at the landing site. "Aye ma'am!" Malik replied to Cara's suggestion as another newcomer arrived onboard. Now they were four. He brought the thrusters to full power and closed the ramp, the Ark lifted off the ground slowly like a beached whale trying to return to mother ocean. But soon enough they were airborne, Malik levelled out at 1,000ft and began a slow circle around the landing site. All was peaceful up here amongst the clouds, a far cry from whatever chaos was happening at ground level. The sky was a perfect blue. "Time for those scans." He twisted his head round to see the back and noticed Lurai looking unwell and Cara tending to her, "She ok? There's a med-kit in one of those compartments there." He gestured with a nod of the head. [...] Then the thought of science may help also keep Isaiah awake, but hearing about historical period drama's was a far better choice. "Historical period dramas? What kind?" She asked. "I do like historical romance stories." She set her pack down, not really able to keep it on her back. Gently, she placed it on the bed near her. It moved a little which suggested her little friend was still in there. Of course, Lyric couldn't really subject the monkey to a scientific exam just yet. She needed her Tricorder to do that. Instead, she settled on watching what was going on. "I find period dramas without any romance rather boring, though." But that was only to get him to 'maybe disagree' or 'maybe prove something'...Her number one thought was to debate on his favorite thing. Enough to keep him awake. "Unless you're in a war-type historical drama with big guns and cannons. Or space historical dramas. Then I think they're a little boring without a romantic element." She wasn't sure whether that would keep him distracted or not while they worked.
[...] " Mark Twain, right? I had a roommate in the Academy who really was enamoured with him," she said with a smile, ignoring the fact that there was horrifying screaming going on outside. Her ability to multithread thoughts was always an advantage in situations such as this. "Isaiah," she leaned down using her free hand to press the back of it against his temple. It was non-painful stimuli at least, though unfortunately she was about to make things worse. " You stay with us and the next Holoadventure is yours to pick. I will even dress the part. Just stay awake for me." Baker got a serious look leveled at her. " If we can break down the receptors in that saliva that tell it to attack the coagulants, we should be able to effectively," her nose wrinkled a little, " nuke it from orbit, I think the saying is. Let me look at the molecular structure or...actually," she moved to firmly press on the wound to try and staunch the bleeding as much as possible - of which she was sorely sorry to have to do. Needs must. [...] [...] " This is the plan, we get Ensign ... I'm sorry I don't think we met yet, patched up, then we speak to the Captain to get a sample of saliva from the creature, that was captured in camp, use that to find an antibody to help Quinn, then we deliver it, via the blood transfusion, which I was also thinking about".Thea then paused for a moment, then added. " Xiiv, I'll want you to work with the Ensign here, once we have that sample and I'll take over with Quinn".Isaiah Quinn [Ens. Isaiah Quinn - Triage, LZ-1, Kerelia] Historical pieces... romances... space dramas... boredom... DNA... samples... saliva.... All of the words seem to blur together as a symphony of tones. It seemed like there were at least three, and they were of comfort. Yet, the dialogue being exchanged felt meaningless. Yet, beneath that tone was a growing chord of chaos. It wasn't in key with the other tones. And it was simply getting louder and louder. In the midst of a raging storm, he could feel the ship being tossed over and over again. The waves raging against the ship with such force, he was almost certain the next would punch a hole right in the hull of the ship. In the distance, he could hear their song. A trio of sirens, beckoning him to come closer. Of course, wasn't that how the story went? Follow the song and you're lured to doom?
Another powerful wave crashed against him, shattering the word around him and knocking him into the water. He clawed his way through the sea water until he broke it's ceiling. They were there, barely a meter away reaching for him. Instinct was urging him to reach for them. The closer he got, the calmer the waters. He spared one look back, only to see an unholy beast with razor teeth and countless eyes bursting out of the waters. It's screech was so loud that it would deafen a banshee. His own screen was drowned out by the horrid shreik. Yet, just as he was about to meet his fate, he felt the cool hands of one of the sirens grabbing his arm so tightly that it forced him to cry out. "Ahh!" Quinn groaned at the pressure that had been reaffirmed to his wound. His eyes opened, and as his surroundings came into focus he realized once again where he was. The tent ont he planet. It now seemed that there was someone else there now. Not another doctor, but Lyric. At that moment, Dr. Baker was speaking to the pair of them about some sort of plan. He wanted to pay attention... to focus. However, his concenration was spent on simply staying awake. And then, there was that sound. It was like raking the nails of a targ against a reinforced duranium hull. His head shook from side to side slightly. His complexion a bit more pale from the time he had walked into the tent. "W-water," he groaned. Yet, he couldn't explain why he'd said it. Was it because his mouth was dry, or was he making reference to the... had it been a dream?

[NPC - Sir Dugris "Doug" Zaman - LZ-1, Kerelia]Doug continued his looking and twitching, until he heard the scream. It put him off-guard, distracted him, and inadvertently, his thumb pushed down on the phaser, sending a beam out... ... into the air... ... over the trees... ... and to one solitary bird, which dropped to the ground in the distance. He stopped the firing quickly, but this one bird was probably done. "Oops," Doug remarked sheepishly. "That's probably bad."Doug was most concerned now. [ Damian - LZ1 - Kerelia] Damian acknowledged Ellis' approval, and that he were to let her know if anything changed. Of course, at that particular moment, he flinched, cupping his ears as a chorus of screams of varying pitches shattered the night air. He scowled, even more so when he caught the phaser going off. Damian had to deal with the noise, taking his hands off his ears - only to regret having done it as the screaming was relentless. He probably did not have to tell the rest of them that this was happening. "You've had your target practice!" He shouted over the screams, his voice still muffled as he reached towards his phaser. He looked over to the other crewman, to see how she was holding up with all the noise, giving a questioning thumbs up to check that the Klingon was doing okay. TAG: Judith Eastman (doug), soft tag: Felicity Ellis (mehl) [Crewman Mehl, daughter of K'tozh - LZ-1, Kerelia]Mehl grimaced and snarled, teeth bared as the offensive noise assaulted one of her favoured senses. "Gah!" She roared as she hunched her shoulders, her hand already lifting her phaser to the air and leaving no way for her to cover her ears in protest. Her eyes followed the stunned bird's spiraling descent to the ground and she shook her head, trying to shake herself into action once more. Golden eyes flickered over toward Oerstadt, and she nodded in response to his gestured question. Her aim was back on the treeline, and she stiffened, ready for fight, when the creatures began to fall from their hiding places and run with singular purpose toward them. She couldn't be sure, but Mehl thought that they were intent on the field towers. Unfortunately for the creatures, they wouldn't get anywhere near them. In waves they ran straight into the once-invisible force-field. Their constant battle scream was interrupted and replaced by pained shrieking as they flung themselves in turn at the defenses. "What now!?" Mehl yelled over the din, questioning her companions. The klingon would much rather point her weapon at the seemingly mindless animals and put an end to all this, rather than watch them waste their time, and hers.

"Do we have a sense of what about it? The electricity, whatever frequencies of waves, the alloys and carbon fibers we use? Technology has, quite literally, millions of ways to harm the natural world."At this moment, Doug was all out of technology. His commbadge was... dead, a victim of too many blows, and the phaser wasn't on him. Unless glass, plastics, and synthetic textiles were technology, he had nothing.

Tag: @lyricsinclair , Amarande Xiiv , Thea Baker [Lyric S-Triage Tent- LZ1, Kerelia] Lyric didn't meet all the crew as this was her first real meeting with them while on the mission. She could wait until they took care of Quinn first. His wounds were more dangerous than hers. She wasn't in a life threatening condition as Quinn was. She noticed that he was coming to and fro from consciousness. She realized that she was also being moral supportive and being nearby as a team-mate. Maybe this was a good thing after all. "I think I have a name for those screaming mimi's out there." She said thinking of those murderous hairless guinea pigs. "A Kerelian Siren." The collection of mythical creatures of Greece came into play. "Because they scream shrilly like the mythical creature, Siren. It was a group of women who sang songs and lured men into the sea. I love Mythological Stories, too. Like the Illiad and Homer. Oh also Hercules." Lyric was about to continue when she realized that everything had to go through the captain before they did anything? "The captain's busy with those 'Shriekers'. Oh! I got a newer name now. We can call them Shriekers instead of Sirens." Shriekers were from the reference of the movie, Tremors II. She had seen that silly movie several times. She wondered if there were "Graboids" living in the ground. She gave a light chuckle. "I think Quinn's thirsty." She heard him say something about water.
That was the time the monkey decided to make an appearance. It was sitting on her pack, looking around inquisitively. It was chittering. Lyric considered on going to the captain herself and telling her they need the beastie for a science medical experiment. "Oh. I'll go talk to the captain. Besides, I'd like to know if the claws carry the Poo-Doo Flu and other infections. I'm scratched up pretty good and have a few bruises myself from those beasties." She returned to the matter at hand, wondering if some how, she was affected by the beasties claws. She'd find out after helping the medical doctors if her scratches were life threatening. "Am I acting funny?" She wondered.

[Lurai Sren - Kerelia - shuttle]
The screams, pain and desperation were fading away, and Lurai's thoughts were her own again. The half human/Trill mentioned her paracortex being overloaded, to which she nodded. ”Screaming meanies. Yeah. This isn't the first time. I'm fine, thanks for your concern. I just need a moment.” She hated when this happened, and hated it even more when people were around to witness it. Her telepathic abilities were becoming more and more like her grandmother's year by year; Strong and very sensitive to outside stimuli. Would she suffer the same fate as granny had? Pushing the thoughts away, she looked up at Caroline and Rylonis and managed a tired smile. ”My name's Lurai Sren. The Captain sent me along as a living creature scanner. Pleased to meet you all.”One hand against the wall for support she got up from the floor, massaging the side of her head. ”Hey, Malik. No strange symptoms yet, I hope?” She was half jokingly referring to their earlier conversation when she'd healed his scratched-up arms. Walking over to stand behind the co-pilot seat, she placed her hands on the head rest and looked out at the greenery beneath. She wanted to apologise for speaking into his mind earlier, but now wasn't the time for that. Instead she admired the scenery, overstimulated mind winding down in preparation for telepathically scanning the environment. ”It's beautiful.” Turning her head, she looked around the shuttle. She sensed another mind, not humanoid, yet familiar. ”Where's the fifth?”

It seemed his Captain's condition was worse than he thought - and the only reason he knew that was because she was no longer yelling at him or complaining. If her usual situation was anything to judge by, it was a problem. Unlike him, however, she had fewer issues slipping back into the tongues of Earth. When he heard the screaming, however, when the screaming started he reacted, quickly. His first move was to drop the hand supporting less of her weight and grab for his disruptor at the hip... which wasn't there. It was in the hand of Costa, flying out in the air, which opened the door to many awkward questions that he hoped people would be too busy to ask. Regardless, he needed to get behind the guns of Fleet.
It appeared the happy-go-lucky man in front of them was not quite as out of touch with the less well-to-do side of the Federation as his company suggested. There were few enclaves where the language was still spoken, a holdover from the glory days of inter-stellar freight, where you could spend months to years between planets, days before universal translators and high-warp engines could make the trip from Earth to Vulcan in days to a month. During those times, enclaves of different nationalities mixed together into unique variations and pagination, including Germanic, Chinese, Indic, the languages of Niger and the Congo, and the Romance languages into a phaux-language, spoken among crews as their own culture. The language thrived between the 2120's and up until around the 2200's, where universal translators had begun to invade all of life with processed English. Since then, it had suffered a decline, along with many of the languages both on Earth and the galaxy. Only fragmented sections of deep-space long range freight had survived the unintentional genocide of culture brought on by the technology.
It was rare for two ships crews to cross path where both spoke the language - and even rarer for crews from different circles to speak similar dialects. There was no common culture or authority - just crews who all happened to devolve their languages similarly. The man seemed to get the point, however, and so Alex began trying to guide and support his injured Captain to the camp.
It wasn't long after when they were approached by a woman wearing enlisted Fleet colors, approached them and asked to turn off their tech. That wasn't a problem for Alex, he had basic trauma gear that didn't require power, but it would be interesting to see what would happen when the Fleeters had to give up their comforts. "Aye, bossmang. Sure ting, just get me and mine a place I can treat her, sasa ke?" he asked her, still moving them forward. He made a reach for the Disruptor Costa had, and if he got it would replace it in the holster and power it down. He didn't usually carry much tech on him, and especially not that was active. He neglected to turn off his commbadge - but he was sort of busy carrying an obviously-injured body toward the tents.
"How tu belotwa... Doctors holding up? Dey up to the challenge o' no tech or tu mi gonya show dem some new tricks?" he asked, not to anyone in particular but also more than musing to himself.

[ Rylonis Trellgin, Kerelia, LZ-1, Ark] Rylonis smiled brightly at Caroline, though noted she didn't introduce herself back to her. She shrugged, then looked as the Betazoid came aboard, looking obviously overwhelmed by the emotions that she was getting from everything going on. She offered her a kind smile as she moved to the nearest window to look out and keep an eye out for any structures. She then looked a Malik. " My name is Rylonis Trellgin," she introduces herself and holds her hand out to shake with a cheerful smile. She was trying her best not to let the events of earlier get her down, especially since they already had one person looking worse for ware, so she decided to try to keep morale up. In her opinion that would also make sure that they were all ready to do their best and they wouldn't look anything over. That was when the Betazoid came over after introducing herself and was talking to Malik, then asked where the fifth was. " Fifth? Fifth what?" she asked curiously. She had been about to ask Malik some questions that may have helped them track the creatures, but this caught her attention and interested her more right at that moment in time.

[LZ Kerelia] Tom pointed his weapon as he tried to cover their escape. The Shield should protect them but he was not sure. He heard from the other Civilians that they might have started or originated in the caverns. For Tom, it was simply trying to get into the Cavern, which would appear to be a suicide mission. As they moved closer to the camp a person that came to them. He barely recognized the female as his exercise of trying to get to know the crew is not going as planned. [ MCPO Ozu Saya - LZ 1] Excuse me, she said. We believe that our technology may be causing the creatures to attack us. Would you shut down any technology you have on you? Anything with a power signature, at least until we've had a chance to gather more information.Tom pulled out his pulse pistol and said “There is no “off” on this. It does not operate….” . The energy levels like Starfleet Equipment does . Tom figured. It did not take much for him to figure THAT’s the reason why they did not attack him. He did not have the energy levels like anyone else. They are attracted or attack high Energy Signatures. It was probably the landing of the ship that began it. When the Doctor arrived, he probably transported down. They came here with pretty much a ship and equipment to make the landing zone. The question is are they operated in instincts or with some plan. [NPC - Sir Dugris "Doug" Zaman - LZ-1, Kerelia]Doug just looked sheepishly at Mehl and Oerstadt, aware that he'd screwed up, big-time. He willingly relinquished the phaser, but his interest was then piqued by the comment about shutting off the technology, from the group nearby. He moved towards them. "Our technology?" he asked. Tom looked down and looked at the Doctor. It appeared that he was thinking of something or piecing things together. “Sir Zaman, when you travelled here before. Did you leave your ship in Orbit and Beam down, or take a shuttle down?” . The man talked like he was in the planet before but he might have a theory why this is happening for the first time. If the man beamed down, it would make sense. He looked at the Pulse Pistol and thought to himself “Ancient weapons” . He muttered to himself. As he thought how they might move out. The Report of the Cave was troubling but if they knew what attracted them, they can easily create a distraction. Tom listened to the Doctor as he said about the lack of tech. He observed that he turned off the disruptor. [LZ1] It wasn't long after when they were approached by a woman wearing enlisted Fleet colors, approached them and asked to turn off their tech. Tom smiled at the Doctor and tried to gently put his hand to his shoulder. “I think you can show them that Boomers are the best in improvisation” . The man tried to reassure him as he figured he needed to talk to the Captain. “You forgot your comm badge, take care of your Captain” . Jett said as he was not trying to embarrass the man he was obviously worried about his Captain and for people in Space there is intense loyalty to them. Tom turned and said “Master Chief, they might need a Universal Translator. I’m going to go and see the Captain. I might have an idea” . Tom said with a determined looked in his face. You always do Tom heard the voice of his former wife. As he constantly talked about these ideas. Some of them good, other bad, and most of them were plain crazy. “If you excuse me” . Tom said as he excused himself. Tom walked for several minutes as he tried to look at the Captain they were plenty of people all over the place. He observed the Captain from a distance and walked up to her. He looked at her and said “Soo, I guess this is the part of the Holonovel, in which we are looking for solutions, I come in to give you the answers and you declare your undying love for me” . Tom crossed his arms and looked at the forest instead of Ellis. He wanted her to at least get some of the build-up anger towards him. He took a Pulse pistol his back up and offered it to Felicity “This is my spare one, do you know how to use it?”. Tom handed it. “I think having non energy base weapon is why they did not attack me in the Jungle” . He theorized. Handing an old weapon might be the answer to it. He then said “Talked to a couple of Civilians, a Doctor, and a Captain. They were exploring the Caves or they saw them coming out of their case. Might be a lead to their origins. It’s a clue, I think we should send a Strike or investigative Team with old weapons. Maybe use some of our portable power plants with some big scanners as a feint. That should draw their numbers out and then explore the Cave. It’s probably a suicide mission, I expect losses. “. He was honest with his assessment there was no telling what they would find in those carverns. But if they studied and observe them there might be a clue. He then tried to smile and said “Thankfully, I am running a Kerelia Special for Suicide Missions as a Team Member. I can’t work for free, but it’s your call Captain”. Tom said thoughtfully as he wanted to appear opportunistic and had his own motive to help them. He proposed this quietly away from the group as he did not want to undermine her in front of the crew.

She had been about to ask Malik some questions that may have helped them track the creatures, but this caught her attention and interested her more right at that moment in time. [NPC - PooDoo - Ark]PooDoo had taken the candies, happily, and gone back into the bag. They were wonderfully delicious, and she appreciated them. She chewed, rather loudly for a creature of her size, and devoured them joyfully. However, soon, they were all inside her, and she wanted more. The little animal climbed out of the bag and approached the one who had fed her. PooDoo vocalized, quieter than the earlier scream, rubbed against Caroline's leg, and then sat down on the deck and looked up adorably. [Ark - Kerelia] Caroline had remained in her squatted position, as she watched the Betazoid’s quick recovery, bemused. The woman’s reaction seemed to indicate this was somewhat of a common occurrence for her, and not one she liked others to know of. She made a mental note to talk to Sren privately about it later. It could become a major issue for the ensign in the future if left unaddressed. ”No need for the medkit right now, Malik. Good to know we have it aboard though. Never know when it might come in handy. She grinned as PooDoo approached her in such a cute friendly manner. It seemed the sweets she’d eaten had also sweetened her disposition, and Cara gave into the urge to scratch the felinoid behind the ears. Maybe it wanted more snacks? She looked over to the bag she’d left next to the co-pilot seat. ”A fifth? Oh, yas must mean PooDoo. I’m uh, watching her for Sir Doug.” Belatedly, the counselor realized she’d neglected to introduce herself. It was a bit of hubris to just assume they knew her by sight alone. She stood up and straightened her clothing, a bit rumpled from the crouching and the jungle trek. ”My apologies for not introducing myself sooner. I’m Lt. Caroline Riordan, counselor. You can just call me Cara though.”She made her way over to the others, and picked up her bag, intending to look for another snack for PooDoo. The lush jungle landscape on the view screen caught her attention, and she drummed her fingers on the nearby console as she was having a thought. ”In addition to the visual scan, will we be doing infrared as well? The things camouflaged themselves pretty well in the trees, but probably wouldn’t be able to mask their body heat. I know it’s an older tech, but might be worth a shot? Sometimes simple is better, I think.” Cara shrugged a shoulder and dove into her bag for snacks to tempt PooDoo with. Maybe jerky, or oatmeal cookies? She’d try both. [...] Tom walked for several minutes as he tried to look at the Captain they were plenty of people all over the place. Tom said thoughtfully as he wanted to appear opportunistic and had his own motive to help them. He proposed this quietly away from the group as he did not want to undermine her in front of the crew. [Felicity Ellis - LZ-1, Kerelia]As Chief Ozu wandered off to inform their people of the new non-essential tech ban, Felicity turned her attention back to the container and continued to stare. The first scan suggested that the captured creature was smaller than some of its cohorts, who were at that very moment flinging themselves at the barrier's energy field in attempt to get inside. With her bottom lip trapped firmly between her teeth she bit down, then shut the tricorder with a snap. No tech meant no tech, including her own. Then, as if her list of problems wasn't long enough at that moment, Jett appeared. "No, no, Thomas Marion Jett, this is the part where I cut your self-indulgent monologue short, and kick you off my plane," she deadpanned in response to his opening banter. Declare undying love? The man had multiple screws loose. But then, she already knew that. She also knew that he was easing her into something else. Without saying a word, she took the pistol he offered, and listened. Her instincts had been right the first time; the more he spoke, the more ridiculous it was. If they were on a ship, she likely would have already booted him out an airlock. Perhaps not literally... but she definitely would have fantasized about it. Sending her people out beyond the safety of the field towers and into the jungle that teemed with knee-height, vicious, twelve-eyed, pink critters, was a really stupid idea. She tucked the pistol into the waistband of her uniform, and still steadfastly ignoring the civilian captain, she tapped her commbadge. =/\= "Ellis to Ark. Team, I've had a report that a large amount of these creatures seem to be coming from a nearby cave system. Might be a good place to start. Ellis out." =/\= Then, finally, she turned to Jett. "Right. Whatever we take with us for the distraction will have to remain powered off until we can get everything into place. They seem to hate these field towers, perhaps we can commandeer one without compromising the security of the camp." Without pausing for input, she turned to face Oerstadt and his band of civilians, and raised her voice so the others could hear. "Crewman, could you sustain this forcefield with only two towers?"

[Costa - LZ-1, Kerelia]Costa did a bit of a double-take when the man answered them in a close enough version of their tongue. Close enough that she was more than able to catch his meaning; even if it was peppered with other things. "Dun need anyone gettin' me ta safety, kopeng," she was muttering under her breath, but yet she allowed Hust to lead her away and deeper into the camp. They were headed toward what appeared to be their medical area. "Oh, xélixup," she continued when she realised, "Sodzha belówtwalowda. Imalowda momal dan to, Husty."Then a uniformed lady said something about the animals not liking their tech. Costa thought she looked a bit cross and she tried not to giggle as her medic effortlessly disarmed her of his disruptor. That would probably get them in trouble. "Sivaoans," she announced, matter-of-factly. She tugged the communicator from the hem of her vest top and moved to hand it to the Chief, intent on pressing the small, blood-stained badge into the woman's palm. The origin of the tech would be very difficult to discern; it contained components from multiple sources, one or two of which likely didn't even exist any more. But she was in a Sodzha camp now, she had to follow their orders. Or at least appear to try to. "Dem live in harmony wit their planet. No tech."Then as they passed by, she added to Hust in explanation, nowhere near as quietly as she thought, "Tubik koyo. So soft."Maybe she was losing her marbles. She still knew she didn't want to be in that tent, though. Once they stepped over the threshold, there'd be no going back. She'd be in their hands, beholden to them like before. She hated it. Hated that they had more, that they were allowed to have it when it had been taken from her. "Setóp." Costa really wanted to be horizontal at that moment. "Na Sodzha belówtwala," she said, only to him.

The headache was slowly starting to ease and her heartrate was returning to normal. She smiled upon seeing the cute little PooDoo. That was indeed the mind she recognised from sensing her before upon disembarking on the planet. ”Yes, that's the fifth. Hello there. Nice to meet you, PooDoo, and you too, Lieutenant. Scanning sounds like a good idea.”
Her head was still sore, but there was work to be done. This had happened to her before, it would definitely happen again, and she'd be damned if she'd let it affect her work. She found a seat and strapped in. She'd leave the co-pilot seat to whoever was going to use the scanner or look for structures from the air. Technically, she didn't need to see with her eyes for this one. ”I'm going to use my own 'scanner' in the meanwhile. The closer to the surface we are, the better. Will let you know if I find anything.” Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes and focused. There were the minds of her three colleagues, and the one of the PooDoo. She reached past them, beyond the shuttle walls, down towards the trees. There were the minds of animals, big and small... and there were the minds of the creatures. Their pain and frustration was burning clearly like beacons in the dark. Her fingers gripped the arm rests, knuckles turning white. There were still some creatures on the move, joining the others by the campsite. They came from... Eyes still closed, she said: ”The cave system that the Captain mentioned does indeed seem to be in the same direction these creatures are coming from. Maybe that's where they live.” Head aching again from the creature's pain, she closed off her mind for a bit and opened her eyes. They had a heading, she'd save her 'scanning' energy for when better needed.

Tags: Damian Oerstadt and Judith Eastman (Doug) [ MCPO Ozu Saya - LZ 1] Aye, Captain, Saya acknowledged, hesitating a moment before heading off as Felicity went to deal with the captured creature.
Soft tag Felicity Ellis , Judith Eastman , Thomas Jett and Alex Hust [NPC - Sir Dugris "Doug" Zaman - LZ-1, Kerelia]Doug just looked sheepishly at Mehl and Oerstadt, aware that he'd screwed up, big-time. He willingly relinquished the phaser, but his interest was then piqued by the comment about shutting off technology, from the group nearby. He moved towards them. "Our technology?" he asked.

[ MCPO Ozu Saya - LZ 1] Saya blinked a few times at the older man, Doug she thought his name was, before answering, We're not certain exactly what it might be that's disturbing the creatures. We aren't even certain it's our technology, but as technology is the most foreign thing we've brought here, and the creatures seem to have become even more agitated since we erected the force field, we are doing what we can until we figure out the problem. The other civilians were speaking a language that her UT didn't seem to be able to entirely decipher. Saya wasn't sure if it was picking up part of the words or if the people were speaking some English mixed in. There was too much of a cacophony with the alien creatures shrieking all around them. So she responded to what she could understand, You can take her to our medical triage area, Saya said, gesturing, then walking with them. I haven't spoken to medical yet. I wanted to give them as much time as possible to treat patients before I disturb them.Saya was impressed with the injured woman's fortitude, though she didn't entirely understand what Costa was trying to tell her. Sivaoans, that sounded vaguely familiar, but she'd think about it later. She hesitated as Costa handed over her cobbled-together combadge, but accepted it and looked it over as they got to the med-tent. She'd see about shutting it down and returning it to the woman later. Doctors? Saya said, poking her head inside. I apologize for disturbing you, but I need you to shut down as much tech as you can spare. We are working on a theory that that is what's causing the creatures to attack.

[ Thea - Triage Tent, LZ1, Kerelia] Thea became concerned again, when she heard Quinn groan, before her attention was taken away from their patient and the orders she had just given, when the other Ensign, began to talk excitedly about the creatures and possible names for them. Whilst she admired her exuberance and imagination, it wasn't helping, especially with the creatures in question still screaming, as well as the headache that was now forming. When she said that Quinn was thirsty, Thea hadn't heard him ask, probably with everything that was currently going on. " Xiiv, get Quinn some water ....", the rest of her sentence was cut off, when a monkey like creature, appeared from nowhere. The CMO was momentarily stunned at what she was seeing, as Lyric continued talking as if there wasn't a monkey in a sterile area. She understood why Lyric wanted to talk to the Captain and her reasoning behind it, especially with the injuries that she had also sustained. However, before she was going to allow her to do that, they needed her to remove the monkey and deal with Quinn's injuries first. " Ensign, there seems to be a monkey on your pack, I don't think I need to remind you, that we can't have a live, unknown animal, in a sterile area, so please remove it, then we can get back to what we need to do".As much as she didn't want to pull rank, it had to be done, especially with people's lives being at risk, because of a mistake. They didn't need this extra complication right now and luckily for Thea, a distraction from this sudden madness, came in the form of Chief Saya. Thea immediately turned to greet her fellow senior officer, as she explained that she needed them to shut down as much tech as possible and what their theory was behind the request. It was certainly plausible and she would do what she could to help. The arrival of the Chief, also gave Thea the chance to share another theory with her. " Understood Chief, we'll do what we can here, also I'm glad to see you as we have a theory of our own, that there's something in the creatures saliva, that won't let the blood coagulate as normal, so in order to save Quinn, we need a sample from the one, in the crate to test it and make a suitable antibody, I was just about to send some of my team out to do so, if you can help at all, especially since we appear to have an extra guest".She silently gestured to the monkey, but at the same time, knew it was vital to share this information with Saya, as Thea doubted she would be going anywhere, anytime soon, in order to maintain, some normality within the tent.
