[...]S'Riia nodded as Kaya explained what she was doing there. "I haven't noticed any malfunctions," S'Riia said. Of course, their usually were redundancies in place to avoid a total loss of power to the brig. "Let me double check. S'Riia moved towards the panel and ran a quick diagnostic. "I did notice a slight spike, but nothing that appears to have disrupted the system. She smiled slightly Kaya asked if she'd be fine on her own. Her eyes rose to look at each of the containment fields. She then glanced back at Kaya, nodding. "I think I can handle it. Besides, Bishop and Dolan should be along shortly with their meal. In the meantime.... S'Riia patted her sidearm. "Just in case." She gestured towards the door with her head. "Go on. Check it out. And maybe we can grab dinner later. Catch you up on who I heard just put in for their resignation." [ Kaya Som | Brig to Jctn 14, Deck 9 ] Just a few minutes before the big hit...It's always nothing until it's something. There was a kind of excitement that a starship engineer hoped for and there was the kind of excitement to dread. They hurtled through emptiest space like a grain of sand tossed in the sea. Millions of things had to go right but sometimes it took just one thing to go wrong... And so Kaya Som would dutifully double-check the power relay at junction 14, even though S'Riia had baited her so wickedly with the juiciest lower-deck gossip. "I hate you," she said cheerfully as she closed out of the panel. "Have fun at battle stations. Don't forget to buckle-up." Kaya saluted goofily and made her exit from the brig. But once she was out in the corridors, she got moving to her task at a jog. The hairs on the back of her neck were prickled. She arrived at the access hatch, keyed in, and started up the ladder. Then suddenly, the ship rocked, tossing Kaya down again. The young crewman was lucky she hadn't far to fall. The red alert blared from every comm. Kaya held her breath and placed her palms flat on the wall of the shaft. They'd stopped. They weren't moving. Soft tag: Isaiah Quinn (S'Riia)

[Mess hall deck 2 - Brody Cooper] Brody had just helped the doctor to take care of the injured arm when the announcement came to find a seat, preferrably with seat belt. That made him a little nervous because a) it was his first bigger mission and there were not seatbelts to buckle yourself in whilst having lunch. "We could strap ourselves to the chairs with those bandages in your kitt." He joked. When she suggested that he could come amd help her in sickbay, Brody briefly nodded. "Okay but I have to get to my station first, make sure I'm not needed there." He was just about to leave when they got jolted around again. This time every tray as well as the large drink replicator landed on the floor thanks to the massive jolt. For a moment the lights were flickering and Brody found himself being thrown off his feet towards Thea. He could only hope she could evade him. "Look out!" Next thing he knew they were sitting on the floor and he was hugging her legs. When he picked himself up his face was beet red. "I'm sooo sorry."

[Mess Hall - Deck 2] The joke that Brody made hadn't gone unnoticed by Thea who responded with a grin, before he told her that he would have to check in with his department first, before joining her in Sickbay. The CMO completely understood with that considering the circumstances and if he wasn't needed elsewhere then having an extra pair of hands in Medical would definitely be beneficial. " That's understandable given the situation"she replied as she approached the door. However just when she thought that they would have time to get to Sickbay, fate decided to throw a curveball as the ship began to shake violently again. As she heard the chaos around her with trays and all kinds of things falling over, instinct kicked in and she tried to reach out and grab something. Although failed spectacularly as the lights flickered, barely hearing what Brody said, before finding herself on the floor with him hugging her legs. If it wasn't for the red alert and Brody apologising with a equally bright red face, she would of found the whole thing comical. But she didn't as she checked herself over, satisfied that she might only have a few bruises, then answered the embarrassed Petty Officer. " It's okay ... it couldn't be helped and are you injured at all?".

[deck 2- NPC Brody Coooper] "No, I think only my pride is injured. I'm really sorry!" He quickly struggled to his feet but the ground seemed somewhat unstable and made it hard to stand still. Reaching out his hand Brody offered to help Thea up and looked around. He could see more people doing the same thing. The few that were around seemed to be okay. The red alert startled the young man, though. It was the first time he had ever actually been on a ship, that went into emergency mode. In some handbook he had probably learned what that meant....The only thing he knew was that all members needed to report their location and status to their superiors, so they could relay the information. So he tapped his comm badge. "Petty Officer Cooper reporting in. I'm in the mess hall, no injuries, heading to the science department."He gave Thea a once over and then said. "I'll come find you and help. Promise." Before he could leave his comm came to live. "Petty Officer Cooper. The research station of the science department is closed at the moment." That was unexpected but given the materials in the research center probably a precaution.
"Permission to help the Chief Medical Officer, sir?" "Permission granted, Petty Officer. Stay safe." Then the conversation ended, so Brody straightened his back to gain some strength and faith. "I'm with you, mam."

[ MCPO Ozu Saya - Bridge] Saya raised a brow at Niles’ casual removal of the synthetic skin from his cybernetic hand, but said, Very well, Ensign. I am no expert in cybernetics, but I would be pleased to assist if you ever have need. She returned to her station with an approving nod at Judy as she let the medical officer check over her injury. Saya sat and buckled in per Judy’s announcement as she considered Quinn’s suggestion. We should be able to accomplish erecting a metaphasic shield by reprogramming some of the plasma flow regulators and fabricating a field emitter coil.
We’ll need to divert power anyway for the shield, she added to Judy. I can begin the programming immediately. Saya hesitated before expressing her next thought. I know that we must get our prisoners to Arkaria; however, I believe it might be prudent to bring us out of warp. We have no idea what sort of effect this anomaly will have on the engines. With the damage it’s done already, I wouldn’t wish to still be at warp if it hits us harder.[Lt. (j.g.) Isaiah Quinn - Bridge, USS Mac] Everyone around the bridge had fallen into their respective duties, heading all of Commander Eastman's orders as they were spoken. Even as Dr. Azaria finished treating her injury, it seemed the acting captain hardly missed a beat. Isaiah's attention was captured as Ensign Niles confessed that he wasn't familiar with how to emit metaphasic shielding around the ship. "Actually, metaphasic shielding isn't currently standard on Federation starships," Isaiah said. "However, I think we have everything we'll need to make the necessary modifications. It didn't take long before he heard Chief Ozu speak, regarding some of the necessary modifications, as she mentioned fabricating the field emitter coil and reprogramming the plasma flow regulators. The science officer nodded along, recognizing that she too was familiar with Dr. Reyga's work. Isaiah nodded in agreement as Chief Ozu suggested taht they be brought out of warp as they worked on the necessary modifications. "Ensign Niles," Isaiah said. "The computer recorded the radial intensity from that latest collisions. Those particular spikes fall just out of the range of our nominal calibrations. If you can increase the subspace compression factor of the shields another 30% it should help compensate for the distortions up 4500 millicochranes." Isaiah made certain he was secured in his seat as he continued to work. "I may need a few minutes to reconfigure the EM scanner so that the deflector network will compensate for the modifications we're making."[Bridge] Elijah accepted Commander Eastman’s refusal of pain relief and stood once he’d closed his medical kit again. He would have to complete a form on his PADD before he could issue the support and cane, but it would take ten minutes tops. He considered, given the situation, Chief Baker may overlook mild nonconformities. He waited until the Commander had a moment before he said, “ I’ll have the support and cane brought to you immediately, Ma’am. If your pain elevates, I hope you will reconsider pain relief.” He then bowed his head again and turned to the Tactical Officer who had addressed him, vaguely recognising him, and he made his way over. Setting down his bag, Elijah retrieved the medical tricorder and hypospray before he stood up to use the former on the Ensign. For pain relief, his go to was the analgesic Hydrocortilene but if the man was concussed, he would have to recommend Trianoline and supervision in Sickbay, lest he lose consciousness. His eyes surveyed the area of the man’s displayed prosthetic momentarily, the sight unusual to him in his lack of experience, but he didn’t let it distract him. The medical tricorder’s results informed him that the man’s ailment was nerve pain. He was swift in administering a 5% solution of Hydrocortilene to the Tactical Officer’s arm. “ If you require any further medical attention, let me know,” he said when the Officer had a moment. He put the devices away and looked to see if anyone else was in need of his assistance. [ Ens Joshua Niles - Bridge, USS Mac ]Chronic pain had been an ever-present companion for Joshua since his shuttle accident, and while he did take a daily low dose of Capabentin to manage it, heavy stress could make the pain flare up; that, or a sudden jolt or shock could send him into agony. But, the good doctor seemed to not need to be told twice, and the hypospray into his arm had a nearly instantaneous effect. As the analgesic worked its way to suppress the screams of his tortured nerves, the Tactical Officer flexed his prosthetic hand as the pain that should not exist faded away. "Thanks, Doc," replied he before he started to consider the information provided to him. For one thing, there was no chair for him to use at Tactical One. Which meant that he would be at the mercy of Sir Isaac Newton should the ship lurch again. But, at least, with the painkillers coursing through his veins, he would be able to hold on with his prosthetic hand without too much discomfort should that come to be. Now that he was settled in, he finally could acknowledge the Master Chief, and he offered her a simple nod. "Thanks, Master Chief. There's no real damage, I'll just swing by Sickbay when I have a chance so I can get a new palm pad replicated." The damage was, indeed, minimal, if an annoyance. As Mister Quinn spoke, Niles' hands started their work on his controls. Of course, he knew Mac was not equipped with metaphasic shields; after all, he did have three months to study his new assignment while in transit, and the Fawkes' XO, Commander Severin, had made it clear that in addition to borrowing him to stand bridge watches she would expect him to become an expert on the Sovereign-class ship he was assigned to, at least from a tactical standpoint. And while he had no idea how to emit a metaphasic field, the information given to him would indeed let him modify the shield generators' output to match. "Aye Sir, that I can do." Of course, there would be a bit of a lag for total adaptation while the Science officer would get the right sensor output routed to the deflector, but if the math was right, then at least it would take the sting out of the next hit. And, with that done, he could look at the tactical picture again, what there was of it; which was to say, practically nothing that even remotely stuck out of the ordinary at this time. And he certainly wished he had a way to see the next surge coming, at least get a heads up of some sort... [Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) & Ens. Mabel Henriksen - Bridge, USS Mac]Judy took in her people's input. "I agree," she told Saya, turning her head towards the engineer and then back to the helm. "Crewman, take us out of Warp. All stop."And as the words left Judy's mouth, the ship shook violently once again. Fastened in as she was, Judy didn't take any further hits, although she did end up grabbing onto her bifocals to keep them from falling. Across the ship, there was damage. The ship's computer automatically brought it to a complete stop, due to damage to the core. Anyone near a viewport could see the stars shift from streaks to their usual dots. All power was lost to the Brig, and plasma fires erupted on Decks 8 and 9. The phasers were rendered inoperable. The power system as a whole found itself under considerable strain. Throughout the Bridge, various consoles flashed red. While hers was only a high-level overview, Judy could tell things were very wrong. "Red alert," she called out. "Everyone, report."Judy worriedly cast her eyes around the bridge, worried about the harm that might have befallen her people from this wave. They'd upped their preparation, and yet the wave had been more forceful - that was a bad sign if ever there was one.

The red alert was rather concerning along with the ship shaking violently. It seemed like it was like a serious sign that if they didn’t act actually then something horrible might happen but he didn’t really know what. While he was glad that he was sitting down he was concerned about the rest of the crew. Even with all of the preparations that were done he didn’t even think that anything could have prepared them for this. He wondered if the worse of it was yet to come. If the phasers weren’t operable then they were definitely going to have to get creative when dealing with the situation. Tag Judith Eastman

[Bridge] Pleased that things seemed to be in order, and unable to see anyone else in need of his aid, Elijah took out his PADD and was about to announce his return to Sickbay when he found himself off balance. The ship had jerked again, no doubt causing more damage to the vessel itself and the people within. In his fall, he’d braced the impact with his hands; smashing the PADDs screen with his palm. Thankfully, he only received three shallow cuts in return. He pushed himself back onto his feet as quickly as he’d fallen. “ Is anyone hurt?” He asked loudly.

[Mess Hall - Deck 2] Having done what she could for K'Dex for now until she could get him to Sickbay for a follow up. Thea closed up the medkit and returned it to Melinda, just as the announcement came through from Commander Eastman. The CMO paused for a moment as she listened, ignoring the sudden shudder down her spine at the mention of an anomaly. Although quickly shook off the sense of dejavu as she knew that regardless of her last experience, she had to get to Sickbay and prepare not only the department but also her staff for what they might encounter. As the Mess Hall started to empty with those present answering the call to battle stations, Thea returned to Brody and K'Dex. " I need to get to Sickbay, Ensign any more problems report to Sickbay immediately, if not I will see you for a follow up when this is over"." Petty Officer, if you're not needed elsewhere and wish to still help then feel free to join me in Sickbay".Thea then turned and made her way to the exit, allowing Brody to catch up if he wanted to continue helping.

He rolled to his side, and up on 3 paws, before standing. He listened to the messages coming through his comm as the yellow alert came through. With a quick apology to the mess hall manager, he made his way down to engineering. [Main Engineering] The red alert came in as he entered, along with directions from the chief. He moved to work on the main console on the warp core, stopped after remembering what happened last time there was a storm like problem, and went to a secondary console to work, initiating diagnostics on the EPS conduit.

Isaiah had turned his attention to his own station, and was set to begin his calculations when the world around him began to toss and turn. Anything that wasn't nailed down had found itself turned. He was lucky that he had managed to strap himself otherwise he may have found himself tossed over his console and next to Crewman Graham. Still, he reached up and rubbed the back of his neck, after having been whipped about. His eyes turned to his console and he noticed that it was out. "Dammit!" he cursed silently. He spun in his seat to see that the Science II station behind him was also out. In fact, most of the consoles around the bridge that he could see seemed inoperable. He could hear the engineer over the comm state that Bridge power was out. A heavy sigh left his lips. When Doctor Azaraia called out to ask if anyone was okay, Isaiah's hand slid down from his neck. He wasn't bleeding and while it may be a little sore, it wasn't debilitating. His eyes scanned the room as he red klaxon flashed about, confirming the red alert that Commander Eastman had called for. There was little he could do at his station until power was restored, which left him with only one other alternative. In fact, it was the very alternative that Chief Ozu had voiced on her own behalf. "I think the chief has the right idea. With power out on the Bridge, more can be done on Deck 11 where the calculations can be finalized and whatever adjustments needed done directly in Deflector Control."

Several other conduits seemed to blow as everything was plunged into darkness. As S'Riia fell to the floor, she felt the air forced from her lungs. Her ears were ringing and her head aching. She didn't feel her body being tossed any further, but it still felt like the world around her was moving. It took her a few seconds to recognize while in the darkness, save for the flashing red klaxon and a few flames, that power on the deck was out. The next thing that caused a bit of alarm was the missing hum from the force fields that kept the prisoners in their cells. S'Riia pushed herself first to her knees and then to her feet, using the wall for support as she got to her feet. She then reached for her phaser in its holster. As she looked down to double-check the setting, making certain it was set to stun. Slowly, she moved through the darkness, approaching the cells to check on the prisoners.

@cat [Mess Hall - Deck 2] When Brody responded to her, Thea was glad to hear that he wasn't physically injured and yet couldn't help but feel sorry for his continued embarrassment, as he apologised once more. " It's okay you couldn't help it, thanks to the ship shaking about" she replied softly, hoping he was reassured as he then helped her to her feet. Thanking him for assistance, Thea took a moment to observe those still in the Mess Hall, but luckily it seemed as though they had been lucky. Pulling her tunic down as Brody checked in with his superior, Thea then nodded in acknowledgement as he looked at her and promised to come find her in order to help. With the red alert still sounding the CMO definitely wanted to get moving and so resumed her earlier attempt to leave the dining area. However stopped as Brody was given permission to remain with her and so when he told her as such, Thea smiled as she answered him. " Excellent, now we may have to climb down to Sickbay, let's go find the nearest access hatch".Once out in the corridor, Thea then led the way, knowing that there should be one nearby.

[hallway deck 2 - NPC Cooper] Thea was quicker than he thought because he knew the turbo lifts weren't working. Perhaps she just had more experience with Red Alerts, which really made him jumpy. The red lights were an indicator that something was seriously wrong. There was nothing he could do to change that. If another force was attacking the ship, he couldn't do a damn thing about it and if they had run into an asteroid field...oh well. With sweaty palms he opened the next best hatch that they found and stuck his head in to gaze down and the long 'tunnel' with nothing but a ladder and a row of emergency lights leading the way down. "If the ship gets shaken again and we loose our grip, we'll fall...all the way down." Whereever that may be...the bottom was pitch black. He looked at her with a lot of insecurity in his eyes but then pulled himself together. He didn't want to be perceived as a coward, even if he felt like one. So he carefully crawled inside and started the descent.

So he carefully crawled inside and started the descent. [Access Hatch - Deck 2] Once Brody opened the access panel, Thea knew that there wasn't any going back and as much as she enjoyed exercise, she had never thought that she would be climbing through the Jefferies Tubes, during a red alert. Still it had to be done, because they couldn't just rely on the turbolifts as they would normally. So as the Petty Officer looked down and queried what would happen if the ship shook again and they lost their grip ... she had a feeling that this was probably his first alert situation and trip into the lifeblood of the Mac. As much as she had dealt with emergency situations before, this would be her first time too. However knew that she had to keep up her reassurance as she was the senior officer and so she came up with an idea as she responded to him. " Not if we hold on tight and not think about it" she replied as he entered first. Then she took a deep breath and followed him, reminding herself that even though it was five decks to Sickbay, that she just had to focus and think of it as a trip to the gym. Her feet felt heavy on the ladder but that's when she put her idea in play. " So tell me what's your favourite food?".

[USS MAC-bridge] “Got it understood Commander.” He proceeded to report to the red alert and get them out of warp. [ MCPO Ozu Saya - Bridge] Saya found the specs for the field emitter coil in her personal database and sent them, along with orders, down to engineering to get that part of the process started. She cursed loudly in Vulcan when the ship shook again, even harder than the last time, and they lost all power. She jabbed at her console uselessly, cut off from knowing what damage had been done to the ship. At least her orders had made it through, she hoped, but they would need that emitter sooner rather than later. =/\= Ozu to engineering, I need a status report. I have no computer access on the bridge.Yes, ma'am. Uh, bridge power is out, obviously, damage to the warp core, fires on several decks - the fire suppression systems are taking care of some of that. We've already got some teams headed to the locations where the systems don't seem to be working. Damage to the weapon systems, and overall power reduction to 72%. We're still getting reports. I'll check in when we get more. Acknowledged, engineering. Cut power to all non-essential systems and areas of the ship and lower the temperature throughout the ship by five degrees Celsius. =/\= Saya already had standing orders about what systems were to be cut or reduced under circumstances of extreme damage or power loss. She hadn't ever taken into account her losing computer access, though. Thank you, Ensign, I'm fine, Saya said in passing to the medical officer as she turned to repeat the report from engineering. She really needed to ask if he was a doctor, but for now, his rank would have to suffice. Commander, overall power is reduced to 72% and there is damage to most systems, including engines and weapons. I've already given orders to reduce power in other areas. I may need to make my way down to engineering to get that field emitter fabricated. At least we have communications, she added with a wry shrug. [Lt. (j.g.) Isaiah Quinn - Bridge, USS Mac] Everything seemed to be underway as Ensign Niles stated that he could make the required adjustments to the shield generators. With power out on the Bridge, more can be done on Deck 11 where the calculations can be finalized and whatever adjustments needed done directly in Deflector Control."[/b][ Ens Joshua Niles - Bridge, USS Mac ][/b] No sooner had Commander Eastman acknowledge the input coming to her and ordered the drop out of warp, the Mac shook violently again. This time, Joshua was flung towards his console and the wind was driven from him as his midsection connected, leaving him gasping for air as the Red Alert lights and klaxons sounded, and the Bridge turned into a red-lit cavern with flickering consoles, and reports flying in every direction. And even as he was trying to get his breathing under control, he tried to work his own station, only to find it inoperable. On an older ship, one that did not have a fully integrated LCARS interface system, that might pose a real problem. But, he remembered being told, in training, that not just in theory but in practice, one could operate a starship with any LCARS-capable device. A tricorder, or even... He reached under his console, where he always had a few stashed just in case, and pulled out a large PADD and his fingers rapidly danced on its interface to generate an ersatz tactical station. It wouldn't be enough to operate his systems to the best of his abilities, but at least he could get readings and reports, along with some basic functionality without too much of a headache. "Commander, shields down 86% and... mostly holding. All phaser banks inoperative, waiting on diagnostics. We have all torpedoes available except... the aft bay on Deck 13, the faulty relay blew and took out the feeding system. Reports of casualties shipwide, no count yet. And... oh Hell, the Brig has lost all power. Security forcefields on decks 7 through 10 are down."Picking away at his completely inadequate ersatz console, Niles looked up to the XO. "Ma'am, no reports about the prisoners yet, but recommend we use damage control lockouts to seal off decks 8 through 10."

[...]The next thing that caused a bit of alarm was the missing hum from the force fields that kept the prisoners in their cells. S'Riia pushed herself first to her knees and then to her feet, using the wall for support as she got to her feet. She then reached for her phaser in its holster. As she looked down to double-check the setting, making certain it was set to stun. Slowly, she moved through the darkness, approaching the cells to check on the prisoners.[...] [ The Arkarians; Benor, Malko, and Cheron | Brig ]There was a reason Benor, Malko, and Cheron had eluded justice on Arkaria for as long as they had. When the ship rocked and the brig went dark, not a one of them hesitated for even a second. Benor didn't need to see to know that her little brother Malko had dropped to a crouch and would be looking for the guard and that phaser at her hip. Cheron didn't need to tell either of them that she will have slipped out of her cell to slink for a panel or computer. And Benor herself, she stood patiently in the archway and waited. Malko was upon S'Riia quickly. Maybe Malko was due for a bit of luck, because in the dark, a Caitian was better suited than an Arkarian. Because lucky he was: S'Riia's head was down and Malko's timing was right. He lunged. His elbow found her temple, and his hands found her phaser. He shoved her hard against the wall and held her there. He sneered. "Not a muscle, Caitian.""Get the comm badge," Benor's voice followed Malko in the dark. Malko obeyed, snatching it from S'Riia's uniform and passed it to Cheron who slid by with a whistle. "I've always wanted one of these," Cheron said. She knocked it against the bulkhead, popping it open like an egg.
Action approved by S'Riia. Tag Isaiah Quinn

Mabel Henriksen - Main Bridge, Deck 1 -> Battle Bridge, Deck 18, USS Mac]Judy carefully considered the situation they were in. They were in a sticky situation with a non-functional bridge, blind, so to speak. This could not stand. "Mabel, is the emergency turbolift working?" she asked her assistant. A feature of modern ships, the emergency turbolift was equipped to head swiftly between the main bridge and the battle bridge. With a reinforced, sealed-off shaft, emergency generator, and other fixtures, it was meant to function even when many other systems did not. Mabel glanced across the Bridge, to a nondescript door with a little green indicator. "Yes, ma'am," Mabel reported. "All right," Judy acknowledged, and then raised her voice. "We're going to the battle bridge. Chief, Mr. Quinn, you can hitch a ride with us."Judy prepared to stand up, and then eyed Mabel. "A little help?"Putting a hand over Mabel's shoulders, Judy staggered, her left foot in the air, towards the emergency turbolift. "Ensign Niles, lock those decks off as soon as we get down down, and lock down the blast doors on the main shuttlebay," she ordered as she approached the lift. "I don't want them sneaking out of here with a shuttle."As soon as all who intended to take it were onboard, the emergency turbolift rocketed down to the battle bridge on deck 18.
