[ Kova Sh'qaleq - Blue Beta Bar, Promenade, Front Ear Station] "Famous last words," Kova replied when Shavan said that he'd take his chances. Vasser's words seemed to ripple throughout the bar, as it seemed to be the only thing that everyone was talking about. The woman had struck a nerve, one raw with emotion. It stirred either hope or skepticism in them all. The thing was, she had left little to no middle ground, and one way or another you would have to take a side. Yet, that had been Kova's life since leaving home: trying to find out where she stood. When she thought of her time at the Academy up to right now, Starfleet had definitely given mixed signals. Shavan said that he'd heard the message, and Vasser had made it all sound too good to be true. "As opposed to utterly miserable?" she remarked. That was never the best strategy, but at the same time Kova couldn't see where Vasser had actually lied. The Andorian then found herself surprised by at Shavan's next suggestion, that they go and talk to her. Kova looked over her shoulder at those gathered around Vasser. From her point of view, just approaching the woman could say a great deal. Still, Kova had never been one to shy away from controversey. "Are you sure?" she asked the scientist. "Because the bathroom is on the other side of the bar, and it'll be hard to talk your way out of it." She followed his lead and downed the rest of her ale. "Let's go then. She slid from her stool, and then turned towards Vasser's direction. [Shavan Th’zhaar, Blue Beta Bar] Of course it would be a bad recruitment speech if she made the Nyberrite Alliance sound miserable. Still.. something didn’t feel right. But he saw no harm in finding out a little more. And while he didn’t want to compete for Kova’s attention if it was on the Alliance, she seemed a little surprised when he suggested they go talk to the woman. He shrugged. “I didn’t say I wanted to stay all night.” Just long enough to take advantage of the hospitality. Shavan stood up and made to go with Kova towards the group around the Vasser. Now that he was paying attention to the people already there, he noticed the growing presence of the security officers. So he wasn’t the only one who was skeptical. Suddenly a large, drunk Zakdorn pushed into him and he stumbled back. “Hey-“ but he cut off his retort as he caught a few words of what the man was saying. Some of it echoed what Shavan had just been thinking, but what caught his interest was fakes. Now why say that if he’d simply had a miserable experience? He watched the Zakdorn go. If this was a fake, it was very elaborate and well-funded. Shavan was caught between wanting to know more and logic telling him not to get involved with things like that anymore. “Still think I should believe her?” he said quietly to Kova. Meanwhile Vasser was already attempting to eliminate suspicion by confronting the issue. A smart move, with the challenger in no state to form a coherent argument. Tag Kova Sh'qaleq

[Sir Dugris "Doug" Zaman, MBE, PhD, JD, MBA, RA, PE - Blue Beta Bar & Grill]The discussion of Avi Moz was disrupted by the Nyberrite Alliance, a far more serious source of malfeasance. The speech was... grandiose, a little self-righteous, pompous. Doug didn't have an especially positive perspective of the Nyberrite Alliance, but Vasser was something special. "She sure wants to make a statement, doesn't she?" he asked rhetorically, after the officers had finished their business-y interaction. "She's calling out for attention, and not subtly either. Kinda reminds me of my... 17th wife. She was a real egotist. In hindsight, I'm kinda glad it didn't work out with her." | Blue Beta Bar and Grill || lt. Sven Aune |Sven continued to think about what the Nybrite alliance lacky had spoken about and his brows furrowed. Immediately he thought about Xander. He would be the kind of person that they would target. An ex-fugitive trying to make a new life for himself. He also thought about Fells and Kova. This was not a good situation if indeed the alliance was up to no good. But there may be a chance they were trying to re-brand their image. He doubted it. He nodded to his superior officer. "Yes ma'am. Whatever the case may be, my team is ready for your orders. I want to ask you a personal favor. Keep an eye on Xander for me. I'm concerned that the alliance my target for recruitment. I'm sure intelligence is on top of things here, but when it comes down to the actual enforcement...." his frown deepened. He turned his eyes and saw Rio. He waved her over. "Doug, not to pry, but what is it you currently do?" He wondered if a man like Doug, as eccentric as he was, was a man that also held considerable information on current affairs and situations. [Felicity Ellis - Blue Beta Bar & Grill]Felicity took some time just to be seen. She might have sneaked in initially, but after the Alliance's speech and their very obvious intentions, she thought it best to remind some of the guests that she was paying attention. She wasn't so deluded as to think her mere presence would deter anyone, but she wanted to appear available to those who might want to talk through their options; be that with the fleet, or with the Alliance. She spied the group of Security personnel who had clustered together, and felt some relief that they were at least taking an interest in this potential security breach. They were hard to miss, of course, by virtue of the sizable Sven Aune. She had decided to check in with the department when movement caught her eye. Fells, with little Aven attached, and Lea were moving offside for what looked like a private exchange. Not wanting to interrupt, but also wanting to give the pair an opportunity to attend to their work without having to worry about the tiny, new baby, she made a quick decision and approached. She'd be lying if she didn't admit to herself that she was also very much looking for any excuse to dote over the boy. "Hi, you two," she greeted when she reached them, then put her hands up in surrender. "I came over here to offer to mind Aven for a bit while you worked, but full disclosure, I'm really just here for the godson cuddles. It's very selfish, I know." She opened her palms and looked at Fells hopefully. "May I?" "What do you think, little liefling? Want to come with Auntie Flick and read some reports? Yes?" She cooed at the baby, before quickly tapping her badge to respond to Harmon. =/\= "Acknowledged, Lieutenant. They'll get my full attention. Ellis out." =/\= Well, she though as she looked at the bundle of powdered, puking cuteness, they'd get most of her attention. [NPC - SCPO Melihn Ryah - Blue Beta Bar] Ryah’s eyes widened as Sir Doug mentioned his seventeenth wife. Seventeen wives? Prophets! Patting Sven’s arm comfortingly, she said, Of course, and you remain vigilant. I’m going to go speak to the captain. She lifted a hand to the small group and made her way over to where Felicity had just joined Lea and Fells. Nodding at the bar owner and her partner, Ryah grinned at Aven and waggled her fingers at him. She turned her attention to Felicity and said, Captain, I’m sorry to bother you, but I must admit that I’m more than a little concerned about all of this, as are some of my officers. I’d like to quietly increase our security presence, especially on the promenade, while such a large group is here. Ryah gestured vaguely at the large crowd with an apologetic shrug. It was one of those gut feelings that were so hard to explain.

|Promenade, Blue Beta Bar and Grill |It was curiosity more than anything that brought Rio to the meeting, after all, there were better things to do on a day off, but this promised the chance for some entertainment. And as Security, even though she wasn't on duty, didn't mean she wouldn't get involved if something happened. And as Security, she did have a phaser concealed under satin jacket, not that she thought it was going to be necessary. Sitting in the back of the room, she listened to the spiel, allowing as how it sounded all right, that most of what they said made sense. Of course, it depended on how you looked at the organization from the start...some saw pure mercenaries, out for profit regardless, others saw opportunistic mercenaries, looking to advance an agenda at a profit, and others saw something more akin to a charity, mercenaries helping just causes...for a profit. Regardless, there obviously wasn't enough bad dirt on them to shut them down, so they were allowed to make their case, and if people wanted to buy into it, that was their choice. She wasn't buying. But, the offer to take a tour of their ship caught her attention...something to do, and something different...she'd go along on that! And when she caught Sven's comment on the safety, she figured it wouldn't hurt to have Security along, although she was sure that the vessel had been vetted, or it likely wouldn't be docked here at all. She stood and dropped her latte cup in the recycler, then wandered closer to the group that seemed interested in the tour. [NPC - former Starfleet officer Robyn Banks - Blue Beta] Robyn made her way down to the restaurant and bar area, hoping to lose herself in the crowd without running into anyone she knew. The crowd was pretty tightly packed, however, and she found it difficult, and was forced far closer to a couple of gold-uniforms than she really wanted to be. At the same time, someone stumbled into Robyn, smelling distinctly of strong liquor. Her arms were grabbed as the person steadied themselves and she found herself looking into the the wrinkled face of a sloshed Zakdorn. [Blue Beta Bar - Fells] Flick concerns were valid and he was aware that she might have a special eye on him, given his history and current unsatisfying situation. He couldn't blame her or wven Lea if she was getting worried because the promises, fake or true, had sparked his interest.
Right now he was worried about the shouting going on in the guest area. Security was here but he didn't want Leas bar to be taken apart. "Stay out here with the baby, okay? I'll have a look." He asked Flick not to go into the crowd while she was holding Aven.
Then Fells went back to where the Colonel had now adressed the shouter. The former security officer watched the man and the rest of the crowd closely with growing concern and finally saud loud and clear. "Please keep in mind that you are in a public place. No shouting, emotional discussions or fighting in here. Keep things neutral or take them outside, please."

[NPC - Colonel Helena Vasser - Blue Beta Bar, Promenade, Front Ear Station] Colonel Vasser took a deep breath as she listened to Fells' questions. She expected a level of skepticism and caution, and the last thing she wanted to do was to feed into that. And she certainly wasn't going to shrink and withdraw when confronted with it. When he asked about the Alliance offering second chances, the colonel stared back at him with a slight smile, as if she were trying to read into his question. "Are you interested in a second chance, Fells?" she asked. He quickly followed up with the question of what their motives were if not to rival Starfleet. The smile on her face broadened as she stifled a slight laugh. "Why would we be competing with Starfleet? Their primary mission is exploration. The Alliance deals in protection and security, with the advantage of not disqualifying employees with a retroactive morality clause." She hadn't gotten far in her explanation when the child began to fuss. As dutiful parents, Fells and Leanna excused themselves to see to their son. Of course, Vasser was rather confident that her name was being passed between two of them while they were away. Next came Costa's declaration that she wasn't looking for a job. While the overall numbers were strong, it did feel as if she were beginning to miss out on several of those high-value acquisitions. "That's disappointing, but not entirely unexpected," Vasser said as she turned to face the freighter captain. "However, you're right. There's absolutely no reason that we can't continue to do business." She listened as Costa she'd like to pick Vasser's brain about the region. It was just further proof of how valuable Costa would have been, thinking several moves ahead and not merely reacting. The colonel slowly nodded, even as Costa mentioned possibly addressing the situation later when she had the opportunity. Vasser quickly noticed several people beginning to approach her. "Very well," said Vasser. She even took a bit of initiative and leaned over the bar to liberate one of the bottles of rum. She held it up for the bartender to see and then topped off her glass before giving it to Costa. "To the best XO I'll never have." Vasser lifted her glass. "And the headaches from my CMO that I've been spared from." She brought the glass to her lips and swallowed its contents. Her eyes then spotted the pair of Andorians moving closer. One of them she recognized immediately. Kova Sh'qaleq. One from the intelligence reports she'd read from her own Intelligence officer, but also from the woman's mother. Captain Sh'tarrin had to have set a record for the shortest exchange of small talk when Kova was mentioned. Of course, that only made learning about the woman more appealing. Vasser didn't do anything to impede their approach, though a spying eye towards the parents seemed to reveal that Captain Ellis was making her rounds as well. Perhaps reassuring her flock, or gauging the state of affairs in her own backyard. The colonel wasn't allowed the opportunity to expand on those thoughts before a rather raucous interruption came from the opposite direction. She could see a rather cantankerous, or just plain tanked, Zakdorn began shouting about something. It was difficult to make out every word, but he was clearly upset with the Alliance. Vasser could see some of her people already moving, either to intercept the gentleman or whisk Vasser off to safety. She held up her hand signalling for them to maintain their positions. On this evening, in this place, security was Starfleet's responsibility. For it to get out of hand could easily fall into her favor. At the same time, she wasn't going to just let the fired speech stand uncontested, despite the fact that only every other word was intelligible. She noticed the woman intercept the Zakdorn, attempting to diffuse the situation. How successful she'd be was the question. "Excuse me. If you have a grievance with the Nyberrite Alliance, I'd like to hear it out," said Vasser. Perhaps she was fanning the flames. After all, when playing with fire, one could easily get burned. "I promised transparency. That means I don't have the luxury of hiding our dirty laundry." Perhaps she was stirring the pot. Perhaps she was making a point. That would be for the onlookers to decide. [Costa - Blue Beta, Bar Area]Vasser made the Nyberrite Alliance sound like the kind of option Costa should have taken when she was younger, instead of launching herself face-first into the Fleet's ever-ready backhand. As the Colonel fielded Halgerdur's queries she couldn't help the spark of curiosity that was lit at the mention of retroactive morality. Still, sacrificing her relative freedom to put herself beneath someone's boot wasn't an option for her, even if she'd likely make more in a month with them than she would in a year as Hed on the Dog. Although, if all went according to Costa's semi-legal plan, they'd be rolling in scrip within said year. She gave the other woman a nod when she noted there was no reason for them not to do business. When she produced the bottle from behind the bar and actually toasted her, Costa couldn't help but chuckle. "Like ya kula¹, Colonel." Then she raised her glass in a toast of her own. "To alliances." She drained it and reached for the bottle, intent on pouring herself another. As Vasser moved off to deal with some drunken kerfuffle, Costa angled her body back toward the bar and held out the bottle for Hust to take. "Rowm unte wa show.²" She continued to watch the unfolding drama, the corners of her mouth quirking upward in a smirk at the 'dirty laundry' jab. "Zakdorn leta wa fall fore im ge fo da Alliance bosmang, pukes ere im shiny but³," she explained, making her personal bet. Brown eyes slid toward Alex, challenging as always. "Wang botiya. Sumting gut.⁴"

Of course it would be a bad recruitment speech if she made the Nyberrite Alliance sound miserable. Still.. something didn’t feel right. [ Kova Sh'qaleq - Blue Beta Bar, Promenade, Front Ear Station] Kova was still trying to place Shavan's thoughts on the Alliance. It was obvious that he didn't approve of what they were offering, however, when she suggested that they talk to the colonel he seemed slightly annoyed. Kova could agree that if the colonel was making a pitch, then it wouldn't be one that lasted thirty seconds. "I have no intention of staying all night either," she stated. She didn't get to say much more as she felt herself being bumped either by Shavan or the haphazardly moving Zakdorn that seemed intent to get to Vasser before anyone else. He'd left a trail of annoyed people and had been intercepted by none other than Rio. Kova quickly looked around, and saw that her partner was already on the verge of pouncing into action should his partner need him. All of a sudden, it seemed that moving any closer would be more of a hazard than not. Shavan's question of the colonel's credibility was brought up once more. Kova assumed that Shavan was pointing out the Zakdorn's reaction as evidence against Vasser's credibility. "And you would take his? Right now, I doubt he could tell the difference between a bar of latinum and a candy bar." Kova took a deep breath and shook her head. "Everyone is so quick to impugn someone's reputation on hearsay and the slightest bit of gossip."This was hardly how she had seen the night going, especially when she'd bought Shavan a drink. They had gone from talk of getting into trouble to politics between the Federation and the Nyberrite Alliance. People in power always found a way to make their problems your problems. "They offered me a commission," Kova confessed. Her eyes moved towards Shavan's. She had no idea why she had chosen to share that information, and with him of all people, but it had left her lips and there was no way to draw it back in. Though she did wonder how he would react... and if that reaction would sway her decision in either direction.

|Blue Beta Bar|Rio noticed Sven's gesture and headed that way, weaving through the crowd. So far things seemed to be progressing well, but then, she wouldn't expect that an organization that wanted to project sunshine and lollipops would cause open trouble. But that didn't mean there weren't people here who had grudges...add a little free alcohol, and PRESTO! Entertainment! She hadn't heard the whole exchange with the Zakdorn, but had caught enough, and could tell from his demeanor that he was bent on trouble. Glancing Sven's way, she nodded and pointed to the guy as she trotted after him, to intercept him. "Hey!" she called as she fell in beside him, "you're Blini, aren't you?" She was making this up on the fly, but if it distracted the man, it would work. "You wrote that book right? The one on the effects of weather on combat strategy? Man, that was brilliant!"If the flattery didn't work, she was ready to get physical if it came to that. Heck, who didn't like a good fight? [NPC - Colonel Helena Vasser - Blue Beta Bar, Promenade, Front Ear Station] [...] The colonel wasn't allowed the opportunity to expand on those thoughts before a rather raucous interruption came from the opposite direction. Keep things neutral or take them outside, please." [ Drunk Zakdorn - Blue Beta Bar] I donn- do nnot know of what you are sppeaking, the Zakdorn informed the security officer with as much dignity as he could muster even while his eyes crossed as he tried to focus on her face. And then there were two more people making noises at him. The Zakdorn blinked at the man, then ignored him, instead turning slowly to the woman who had been his original target. He swayed as he tried to formulate what he wanted to say. Your pibble, people made pormishes. And they broke evvery one. I was promissssssssss-ed I would be shalli, cahllenged, but onnly menial tashks-He stopped abruptly, heaved a couple of times, and proceeded to spew a rather impressive amount of food at the feet of the director of the Nyberrite Alliance. He’d had a meal, or several, since starting his drinking binge.

[Felicity Ellis - Blue Beta Bar & Grill]Felicity laughed aloud when he commented that she was a woman, and therefore knew what to do... assuming that he was joking. They'd left those kinds of gender roles back in the 20th century, after all. "Better not mention that to the Xyrillians, huh?" Felicity asked the baby, her voice delighted as she took him from his father and rested him against her chest, careful to support the head. She laid her cheek on the top of his soft crown and smiled at the news that he'd been a bit fussy. "The atmosphere in here is pretty charged. Maybe he's picking up on that?"Then, when Fells laid out some reasons for her being there, she nodded, all the while swaying a little with Aven in her arms. "Thought it was a good idea to see for myself. I can't stop anyone from joining the Alliance, but I can show up for anyone who might be confused." She smiled as Chief Melihn approached, and before turning to the newcomer, added to Leanna and Fells, "Let me know if they give you any problems.""Hi Chief!" She said brightly, turning Aven a little so that he could see her waving. Then in a more somber, soft voice, she agreed with Melihn's plan. "Do it, Chief. In conjunction, there's a report I'd like you to go over with me, I think you'll find it helpful."When a scuffle seemed to break out, Felicity automatically angled her body away from the crowd, mindful of the baby. She was pleased to see that Rio Sosa stepped in quickly; she'd expect nothing else from their Security people. "Who had 1830 HRS in the pool?" She should probably be surprised that it had taken so long for someone to get a little rowdy. [NPC - SCPO Melihn Ryah - Blue Beta Bar] Ryah stepped between the captain and baby and the rest of the crowd in case anything happened and tapped her combadge. =/\= Melihn to Gamma shift security, take your duty stations now. We’ll be doubling security until further notice. We’ve got a potential altercation in progress in the Blue Beta. I’ll have a modified schedule out by the end of the current shift. =/\= Should we get the little man out of here? And I can have a look at that report? Sosa and Aune should have things well in hand here. I have no worries with them around. She might have preferred to stay herself to keep an eye on things, but the chief was intrigued by what sort of report the captain had for her.

[ Leanna - Blue Beta Bar & Grill] " That's what I've been thinking, especially with him being half Betazoid" Lea said in agreement with what Flick had said, before she confirmed with Fells why she was here. Not that Lea blamed her best friend and certainly would confide in her, should they have any problems with the Alliance. " We will".As Flick then turned her attention to Ryah, Lea still felt a little uneasy about the whole thing, even more so when she though that the Colonel looked in their direction. Something wasn't sitting right with the Betazoid and not for the first time was glad that Flick was taking Aven away from the bar for as long as needed. Maybe she needed to rethink her hours or find suitable childcare for her son from now on. However this seemed to resonate more with her when the shouting started and it didn't long for Lea to notice the Zakdorn, clearly drunk and upset approach Vasser. This was all they needed as Fells went into full Security and protective mode, telling them he was going to have a look. Of course she was concerned as he then addressed the crowd and this was not how she imagined the night at all. Now it was a matter of whether this could be resolved without violence as Ryah stepped in to shield Flick and Aven, which was definitely appreciated as she followed Flick's orders then suggested that they take the baby away from all of this. " Thank you both, it's very much appreciated".If Melihn was confident that Aune and Sosa could handle things here, then Lea knew that any trouble would be dealt with, regardless of the Alliance's presence. For now she remained where she was until things calmed down and once she knew that Aven was out of danger, she would go back to the bar.

Interactions: Sven -> P-NPC DougSven -> ZakdonSven -> Rio "Thank's chief." he said to Rayh. Truth be told, he knew that the captain would have a plan of action and he also knew that he was part of the best damn station security team in the whole universe. As such the large man watched Rio like a hawk and was ready to excuse himself if the loud man did anything to Rio. He positioned his body ready to bullrush if needed, but he continued on with his conversation with Doug. "Mercenaries get paid. I wonder who has contracted this lot." he was being suspicious, but with something like this he couldn't be too careful. He kept partial attention on Doug. "Doug, what kind of experiments? Science, social? I'd be curious what it is you do."
He was interested, and someone like Doug came off as a person that would enjoy the social side of experimentation. Possibly the progression and propagation of verbal mimene and mnemonic nuances. Tags Ozu Saya (Zarkdon) Rio Sosa Dugris Zaman [Sir Dugris "Doug" Zaman, MBE, PhD, JD, MBA, PE, RA - Blue Beta Bar & Grill]Doug resisted the urge to go in, inspect these folks up close, get a taste for the worst of society. "My current field is zoology, focus on Kerelia," he explained. "There are extraordinary animals on that planet. The Greater PooDoo, for example, is a feline type, as tall at the shoulder as you and I, with massive claws, and the softest, fluffiest coat. I managed to tame one once, and rode it. It was like sitting in an angel's back hair."Doug had an immense number of these ancedotes, and he published many of them in his books about Kerelian flora and fauna. "Studying your species is a hobby of mine, has been for centuries. These mercs, they're an echo from your people's past," he added. Doug knew humans didn't like to be reminded about their past: the World Wars, the genocides, the rampant greed, the hatred and discrimination. Unfortunately, he couldn't always help himself.

She had no idea why she had chosen to share that information, and with him of all people, but it had left her lips and there was no way to draw it back in. Though she did wonder how he would react... and if that reaction would sway her decision in either direction. [Shavan Th’zhaar, Blue Beta Bar] The revelation that they had already offered Kova a commission explained a lot about how she was acting. It seemed as though she was considering it, but hadn’t given them an answer yet. Shavan was beginning to think that asking her how she felt about it was the wrong approach; either she’d volunteer the information or she wouldn’t give a clear answer. “Congratulations.” In spite of his suspicions he had no reason to say anything else, and he was certainly in no position to judge whatever choice she made. While he might not be the most qualified to be giving out life advice, he did know the value of taking a risk- as well as the value of going in with knowledge. Shavan considered Kova’s words. Maybe there was still a way to both resolve this conversation and get the evening back on track. “If I really wanted more information about them, I wouldn’t look for it here.” He gestured toward Vasser and the Zakdorn. “For all her talk about transparency, she is selling something, and that is just one drunk who’s about to black out.” Shavan still thought he had the right instinct about Vasser, but Kova was right about believing rumors. Given the scene that was unfolding and the growing presence of security, maybe right now wasn’t the best time to talk to someone from the Alliance after all. “I’d see what he has to say when he’s sobered up, and talk to others who've joined. Or go look around their ship while they’re all in here.” If the Zakdorn could still be found the next day. “The Alliance will still be there tomorrow. We could just get out of here instead.” he suggested, leaving it for Kova to decide since she was the one they had made an offer to. Tag Kova Sh'qaleq

"Funny," she muttered, "off duty then on, just like that!" Pity she hadn't been drinking and could use intoxication as an excuse to just sit and watch! "At least we aren't on clean-up detail!" She looked up at their drunk charge. "Hey, is is common for your species to puke blood?" She thought he looked a little pale, and with their luck he'd go into shock and pass out before they got him to the security office. And as they got to the door, Drunk-Puky-Man wobbled... [Felicity Ellis - Blue Beta Bar & Grill]"Of course," Felicity responded simply to Fells asking her not to go into the crowd. Her body still angled away from the action, and with Chief Melihn on-hand to help, they were safe from the belligerent Zakdorn. However, they could always be safer, and certainly more comfortable, so when the Security Head suggested that they make their departure, Felicity hurriedly agreed. "In that case, maybe we could use your office, Lea, until this blows over?"It was close by, secure and would like be much more calming for the baby than the Alliance kool-aid party. The route to the office was in the opposite direction of the unfolding action, so Felicity felt the pair of them could manage just fine. "Take as long as you need," she told her best friend and Blue Beta proprietor, knowing that she may have a few creases in the evening's plan to iron out. With that, she gestured toward the office area, and lead the way, baby still in her arms. [Blue Beta, Leanna's Office]Once inside, the sounds of the festivities beyond faded. Felicity moved toward Leanna's private, secure terminal, and used her own credentials to access her messages. "Lieutenant Harmon has compiled a list of potential undercover agents for us. Civilians, I believe, who are likely to be approached by the Nyberrite Alliance, and might then be persuaded to help us gather intel from the inside." She tapped away on the Computer with one hand, baby still secure in the other arm. Automatically she still swayed on her feet, a subconscious action, and it seemed that little Aven was too tired, or too relaxed, to fuss any further. Felicity brought up Harmon's very colourful report, along with Hudson's practical notes, and projected it between them so they could both read together. NAME: Fells Halgerdur FILE No.: 1 CRIMINAL HISTORY: Found guilty of accepting a bribe, corruption, criminal negligence occasioning death. Found not guilty of conspiracy to commit murder. Guilty of being annoying. PRESSURE POINTS: Appears to be close to and care greatly for his partner, Lea and his kids. Seems to be repentant, could appeal to his desire to rehabilitate himself and leverage that CHANCE OF JOINING ALLIANCE: High. Cast out from Starfleet, suspected by many on the station. Carries at great deal of stigma. Fits profile of Alliance recruits perfectly. Would likely not join if it meant separating from his family, however. SUITABILITY AS ASSET: Pros: Security training. Doesn’t seem to like me. (Note from Hudson: Why is that a pro?) Cons: Untrustworthy. Impulsive. Moderate probability of blowing cover. "Well, that was interesting," she said when she finished reading, her tone terse, but a smile fighting through. She looked over at the Chief. "What do you think?"

Sumting gut.⁴"¹ Kula - balls. ² Drinks and a show. ³ Zakdorn takes a fall before he gets to the Alliance Colonel, pukes on her shiny boots. ⁴ One bottle. Something good.
[Blue Beta]
As soon as the meeting had started, it abruptly seemed to come to a halt and disperse. Or at least, that's how it seemed to Alex. Maybe he'd just zoned out, maybe he'd been bored out of his mind and thinking of other places and people, or maybe he just liked the idea of free drinks. Regardless of the reasons or facts, it was as it had been. He'd not been stellarly impressed by the speeches and promises, but Costa had apparently found something she liked in it. She was in a good mood, as far as he could tell.
However, there were still limits to what they could move on their own. He'd want to be kept up to date on the developments - even if they didn't fall into his wheelhouse on the freighter. He'd find some way to get the information he wanted, or at least a version of it. It had the aura of money in the air, and he didn't want to miss that. As much as the Federation liked to pretend it didn't, economics and money still existed, and the innate desire of many mortals to acquire wealth still was in the code of life.
However, he still had concerns about the Alliance. Even if they only offered "Security" and "Order", those words had been used in the past by expansionist powers. Just ask the Bajorans. Of course, so long as he kept away and above it, he didn't see much wrong with taking advantage where he could. The laws of supply and demand held - if he didn't take the supply, someone else would, and his reward for abstinence would be poverty. Sometimes, you just had to do what needed to be done.
When the Colonel moved away, he graciously accepted the bottle from Costa - well, properly, that Costa handed to him. It wasn't exactly hers to give away, but those were details, and nodded at the comment of a show to come. When she made her wager, as Alex took a sip of the drink, he nodded slowly, processing the bet, weighing his odds, and then committing. "Tu on," he said. Even if he lost... well, she didn't specify his best, and he'd just happened to come across a brew he knew from experience she liked that very day.
Unfortunately, he lost.

[Nyberrite Alliance Recruit Conor Lynch - Blue Beta Bar & Grill]Former Petty Officer 2nd Class Petty Officer 3rd Class Crewman Conor Lynch looked handsome in his new uniform. It had been difficult getting out of the quarters he shared with his mother with the thing, and he'd had to get changed in the bathroom facilities before arriving at the Blue Beta, but he wasn't ready to tell Peggy that he'd resigned from Starfleet yet. She'd kill him. Have his guts for garters. Margaret Lynch historically had little patience for her contrary son, but this move would surely push her over the edge. "Evenin' to ye."
"Evenin'."
"Lookin' well, so ye are."
"Is that a new hat on yer auld head there?"
"How are ye?"He thought it was right for him, though, and that's what was important. Starfleet had not been kind to him, despite all of his best efforts to be good. The Alliance seemed to understand that, and wanted to reward him for his loyalty. He was there to tell the others how great things had been since he'd moved. That he'd been accepted without question, that the work was fulfilling. But as soon as he spied the gathering group of Sec/Tac personnel, Lynch made a sharp right turn away from them. He continued to greet and exchange words with a few less challenging folks while on his way to find the cheese. [Sir Dugris "Doug" Zaman, MBE, PhD, JD, MBA, PE, RA - Blue Beta Bar & Grill]As his conversation partner moved off to work, Doug stood up and began to wander. He came upon a less massive man, Irish by his accent, in the uniform of the Nyberrite Alliance. This one looked like a sufficiently non-menacing fellow to approach, and maybe get a better grip on the goings-on through. "Hey there," he greeted. "Sir Doug Zaman, at your service. Can I get you a drink?"Other than the fact that his left pant leg was tucked into his sock, Doug was the image of class, taste, and wisdom. And the PooDoo scratch on his right index finger. And the fact that his socks were mismatched. But from the chest up, Doug was classy.

[Sir Dugris "Doug" Zaman, MBE, PhD, JD, MBA, PE, RA - Blue Beta Bar & Grill]Doug resisted the urge to go in, inspect these folks up close, get a taste for the worst of society.
Tag Sven Aune [ Drunk Zakdorn - Blue Beta Bar] I donn- do nnot know of what you are sppeaking, the Zakdorn informed the security officer with as much dignity as he could muster even while his eyes crossed as he tried to focus on her face. And then there were two more people making noises at him. The Zakdorn blinked at the man, then ignored him, instead turning slowly to the woman who had been his original target. He swayed as he tried to formulate what he wanted to say. Your pibble, people made pormishes. And they broke evvery one. He’d had a meal, or several, since starting his drinking binge.

Keep things neutral or take them outside, please." [NPC - SCPO Melihn Ryah - Blue Beta Bar] Ryah stepped between the captain and baby and the rest of the crowd in case anything happened and tapped her combadge. =/\= Melihn to Gamma shift security, take your duty stations now.
Tags: Leanna Mazal (exit) and Ozu Saya (Melihn) [NPC - SCPO Melihn Ryah - Blue Beta Bar - Leanna's Office] Ryah followed the captain, and the baby, to Leanna's office and to the computer terminal to read over Felicity's shoulder (or around it, really). Her brow furrowed and bobbed as she looked at each entry. Well, she said when they'd read the whole file and the captain asked her opinion. I have a feeling we weren't meant to see all of that. She chuckled. I do agree with most of the lieutenant's assessments. Exceptions might be Mr. Halgerdur and Avi Moz. I've gotten to know Fells (she switched to his given name so that she could stop murdering her throat saying his last name) a bit since his arrival. I'm acting as parole officer. Not something I normally do, but I was concerned that the nature of his crime and the explosive circumstances surrounding his arrival here might cause undue bias against him. He truly wants to make good, and I believe he could be highly beneficial in such an operation.
Moz...may be too volatile to cooperate with Starfleet, especially as I just had her in lockup for a few hours for, well, essentially microchipping Mr. Aune. She seems to enjoy tormenting him. She also didn't seem to appreciate my approach. Ryah wandered off to pace the room as she considered. I wonder what the Alliance's recruitment expectation is. I mean, how many could we safely place undercover before they became suspicious? I confess, undercover operations are not my forte.
