[Felicity Ellis - CO's Office, Deck 2, Front Ear Station]Approximately one month following the events of ANOMALY."The Mac is en route to Arkaria, but they will continue the long range scans and are under orders to investigate any lead. Other than that, Admiral, I'm sorry but there is no update on the Orunmila." Felicity steepled her fingers and shook her head, her eyes on the screen before her. It was usually hard for Rhys McKenna's handsome face to look anything other than pleasant, but he was managing an unhappy expression quite well at that moment. "It's like it simply just disappeared."The Admiral looked as though he was about to argue; perhaps to opine that ships simply don't disappear. But the truth was they both knew it happened all the time. Space was their final frontier, after all, and in the grand scheme of things what they didn't know could fill a galaxy. "Continue searching, Captain," he said eventually, before leaning back on his chair. His eyes lowered to something on his desk and he cleared his throat, signalling to Felicity that they were about to discuss the next and last item on the day's agenda. "I can't say I'm too pleased with this latest report, either. We've noted that the Nyberrite Alliance have experienced some growth in recent years, particularly following the end of the war, but we were not expecting them to start setting up shops on our outposts to quite this extent."With a few taps and swipes of her fingers, Felicity pulled up the report in question. Intelligence had been keeping an eye on the Alliance's movements on the Station, covertly of course, they were sometime allies, after all, but there did seem to be some fresh buzz surrounding the group. "They've taken some office space on the Promenade, but I've had no complaints thus far. They're cordial, and just seem to want to get on with their business. Front Ear is also one of the closest stations boasting a large civilian population. It's prime recruitment ground.""Honestly, Felicity, that's what I'm most concerned about."She rested her chin in her hand, elbow on the armrest of her chair. "I'll put someone on it.""Do that, keep me in the loop. Until next Tuesday.""My new favourite day of the week." Felicity caught the flash of amusement on McKenna's face right before he terminated the comm. She wasn't wholly exaggerating either; the Welshman might be her superior and constantly pressing for results, but he was so much easier to deal with than her mother. It had been some time since she'd heard from Antoinette, and she had no idea why she was suddenly receiving all of her orders from McKenna instead. She decided not to question the fortuitous turn too much. "Computer, show me everything we have on the Nyberrite Alliance, cross-referenced with their historical presence here on Front Ear."Twenty minutes and two very strong coffees later, Felicity was leaving her office behind and heading for the turbolift. =/\= "Ellis to Harmon. Meet me at the Blue Beta Bar & Grill on the Promenade at your earliest convenience, please. There's something I think we should see." =/\=

[Sir Dugris "Doug" Zaman, MBE, PhD, JD, MBA, RA, PE - Blue Beta Bar & Grill]Doug took another swig of his Old Fashioned, and then looked over at his drinking companion. The young Miss Riordan was an interesting woman, although with his species' listening skills, Doug was the undisputed king of gossip. "Did I tell you yet about the Captain's secret admirer?" he asked, as he set his glass back on the bar. "You'll be shocked!"That scene, two months ago, had very much resonated with Sir Doug.

[NPC - Colonel Helena Vasser - Blue Beta Bar, Proemenade, Front Ear Station] As she scanned the room, she could see that things were coming together rather nicely. Of course, her thoughts weren't limited to just this gathering. The numbers were important, and she was hoping to add to that count significantly. The recruitment office on the promenade had recently become quite the hotspot for the Nyberrite Alliance. Now, it was time to increase the quality of recruit along with the quantity. That wasn't to say that those that had defected from Starfleet were in any way subpar. It simply meant that were additional candidates that could uniquely contribute to their cause, and she had every intention of recruiting them. That recruitment would start right here, in the Blue Beta's mezzazine. Colonel Helena Vasser felt that a more informal setting would be more inviting and more familiar. And that was the goal: for the Nyberrite Alliance to be seen as part of the existing community, not as an outsider. Besides, the faces of the Nyberrite Alliance were already familiar. They were their neighbors, their allies, their friends. The people just needed to see that. Her hand communicator chirped, signalling a call from her ship. =/\= "Vasser, here. Go ahead, Soteria," =/\= she said as she raised her fist to speak into her hand-comm. She listened as they apprised her of their own preparations, mainly for the tour. =/\= "Understood. I'll notify you once we're ready to commence. Vasser, out." =/\=Lowering her hand, her eyes fell upon the scene once more. The banners, bearing the Nyberrite Alliance's emblem was in view, and yet not overpowering. Only a pair hanging on either side of the bar's mezzazine. The scent of the food that had been prepared filled the air and would undoubtedly draw in not only those invited, but the casual citizens that would pass by along the promenade. She gave a slow nod. It was time. She glanced at her reflection in the glass, how her raven hair was accented against the cream-color of her own uniform. She took a deep breath, as if she were about to give the performance of a lifetime. Her lips curled into a smile. Her confidence didn't need any coaxing, but a slight mental cheer told her success was at hand. Now, it was time. Time to meet the locals. A few people had already arrived, and Helena had every confidence that the room would fill up nicely. The music was low, and helped fill the ambiance. What she watned to hear were the voices of chatter. It was a little mixer, a meet and greet, but more than that, it was a welcome... and a farewell... to Starfleet's iron grip on the citizens of the Federation. Helena moved through the bar, her eyes searching first for their hostess. It was only proper that she make certain she extend her thanks once again for agreeing to host the event here at the Blue Beta Bar. It was important that Ms. Mazal knew just how instrumental she was in making Vasser's immediate plans a reality. As she traversed the room, there were brief greetings exchanged, some with nods and waves. Helena eventually, centered herself strategically, so that she could spot Ms. Mazal, though in the meantime, she did greet and welcome those that begun to arrive.

[ Leanna - Office, Blue Beta Bar & Grill] Now that Aven was 8 weeks old, Leanna felt comfortable going back to work, even if it was in a reduced capacity rather than the hours she used to do before her and Fells's son had arrived. After speaking with both Fells and Seamus, the Betazoid felt much more at ease with her decision to do two days a week then increase it to 3 and perhaps more as Aven got older. Besides it was good to be back and since she was still feeding Aven herself, it made sense for her to bring him with them, until it was time to pick Ariana up from daycare. She knew it was about getting the right balance and so far it was working. So once they had opened and welcomed the group that had rented out the mezzanine level for a special event, Lea had moved to her office in order to check on Aven and catch up on paperwork, including looking at ideas for the wedding. Having managed to get a little work done, Lea was now sat on the sofa, feeding Aven with a PADD in her free hand, perusing wedding dresses and had to admit that it was fun doing so. She never thought that she would get married and now that she was, could share in the same excitement as her friend Brooke, who had been a great help and a great source of conversation, since she was also planning her own nuptials to Greg. Lea felt as though nothing could spoil her happiness right now and once Aven was done, changed him and placed him in the baby sling, thinking it was probably a good idea to get back out into the bar and be seen, especially with those from the Nyberrite Alliance. [Main Bar Area] Walking out into the main bar area, Lea noticed that the bar had gotten a little busier since she had taken a little time out. Spotting a dark haired woman who appeared to be waiting for someone, Lea was sure she knew who it was, from discussions about the event. " Hello there, Colonel Vasser is it?".

[ Avi Moz, civilian & station resident | Low security holding cell, Brig, Deck 2 ]Avi Moz, a walking Bolian blue bad decision, had her bare feet up on the bracket that held the bed to the wall. 'Disorderly conduct' was the threatened charge but nothing had been done yet. Avi wasn't concerned, only irritated at the inconvenience. The new Starfleet leadership on the station was much more laced-up than the previous and were a lot quicker to tidy up Avi's messes. This wasn't her first brush with station security since they arrived, but it was the first time they'd followed through and dropped her in the brig to cool off. She was picking at her dark fingernails and carrying on some casual conversation with the security on duty just one the other side of the force field. "So how does that work," Avi asked the Chief of Security without looking up. "Are you like a chimaera, Bajorn on top, Trill on the bottom?"

Sven was in the gym, wearing a stringer tanktop, pants and some shoes. He was resting on the floor by the squat rack, legs extended massaging the tight muscles. Xander strode by and stood over him.
"Man. I like working out, but you take it to a whole new level. Actually, it's painful to watch you." he stood one hand on his hip.
Sven looked up. "No pain no gain."
"Ya. I think you've gained enough. You can't even reach the center of your back. I saw that incident on the promenade when that Bolian woman stuck that sticker right in the small of your back. You looked like a puppy chasing his tail trying to get it off! I was laughing so hard. And then you had to ask that crewman to take it off for you!"
Sven frowned. "You saw that?"
Xander smiled. "I think she found your weakness. Stickers and Bolian Cigars. That's two up on her."
Sven looked incredulous. "I'm not keeping track."
"But I am!" Xander laughed. "All seriousness, I'm excited to with you to the Spartan Pro."
"Me too. I'd like to do better than 3rd this year."
"You're first in my book big guy." Xander patted Sven's large shoulder.

[ Brooke - Private Quarters] If there was one thing Brooke loved to do, apart from spending time with Greg, her friends, Greg and creating culinary delights for both home and the cafe, it was shopping. So after a successful trip to the Promenade, where she had managed to finally find the perfect pair of sandals to go with her wedding dress. Brooke had returned to the quarters that she shared with her handsome husband to be, when he wasn't out with Leeds, laden with bags as it wasn't just the shoes that she had bought. No she had definitely splurged a little, but then again it was good to do that now and again, especially on a day off. Besides Brooke always liked to surprise and also treat herself, but now that she had finished shopping, the plan was to put it away, change into something comfortable and start baking. Only this time, her cakes would be something a little more special as she wanted to try out a couple of different flavours so they could decide what would work for their wedding cake. Yes she could of gotten one of her employees to make it, but the perfectionist inside her, preferred to make it herself. So after storing away her purchases and hiding her shoes with her dress, Brooke quickly changed into a vest and comfy pants, then headed to her domain ... the kitchen. She rarely had to use a recipe but she took out what she needed, the book that she had put together herself, ingredients and equipment. Then she began to weigh them out and began baking, but not before she instructed the computer to play one of her favourite songs. Cascada

[Costa - Blue Beta Bar & Grill, Promenade, Front Ear Station]Captain Alexa Costa walked inside the Promenade's newest and shiniest hot spot, wooden box under her arm. Despite the attractive facade of the bar, Costa was in her usual civilian uniform of black combats, boots and a black vest-top, but she didn't feel under-dressed or out of place. It wasn't something she gave all that much thought to usually, but when fraternizing with the sodhza¹ some people tended to stick out more than others. You might be more likely to find her falling off a stool in the Spotty Alibi a deck or two below, but the Blue Beta had fast become one of her best customers, and one of the main reasons the Sierra - Front Ear run was still a viable one. This time around though, she'd made a stop somewhere else. Considering she'd gotten a potentially life-changing geological analysis of the Kerelia rock out of it, among other things, she thought the stopover at 349 was a fruitful one, and worth the detour and delay. The sensation of that very same prize pressed between her skin and her bra, safe and secure, reminded her that she had work of another kind to do after this fly-by. From first glance, the bar looked busy enough, with some sort of event being prepped on the mezzanine. Costa ignored it, it had nothing to with her, and approached the bar. "Bossmang² around?" She asked the bartender by way of greeting. "Need one o' they prints on dis ting."She tapped the battered custom pad that was peeping out the top of a pocket and slipped the wooden box from under her arm. Placing it atop the bar counter she leaned over, looking around her, waiting. Close by she thought she recognised one of the old mang who had been on the expedition to the green planet, chatting to a much, much younger métexeng³. She arched a brow but said nothing, then returned her gaze to one of the waitstaff. "Take a drink too, if ya offerin'."

[Shavan Th’zhaar, Blue Beta Bar & Grill]
It hadn’t taken long after arriving on the station for Shavan to learn that the Blue Beta was one of the most popular spots on the Promenade, and to become a frequent customer. After finishing his most recent duty shift and changing into civilian clothes, he walked in the doors, ready to see if there was anything happening or just relax with a drink. Or several drinks. Shavan sat down at the bar and ordered an Andorian ale. With it in hand, he idly glanced back at the room behind him, looking for someone interesting to talk to or someone pretty to flirt with. He saw the banners for an event on the mezzanine but initially paid it little attention as it wasn't why he was there.

tag: Ozu Saya (Melihn Ryah) [NPC - SCPO Melihn Ryah - Low security holding cell, Brig, Deck 2] For a change of view, and because she hated paperwork, Ryah sometimes did a shift at the guard station in the brig. It was usually an easy job, not requiring a great deal of thought, but it still gave her the excuse to put off dealing with the pile of PADDs on her desk for a few hours. She had one, with some light technical reading on it (okay, it was actually a sharpshooting publication - the results from the most recent interstellar championship were out). Ryah was sad to not see her own name at the top of the standings anymore. She missed competing. Maybe she could ask the captain about setting up a local match. Her reverie was interrupted by the current prisoner. Ryah turned a passable Vulcan raised brow on the Bolian. That's clearly a foolish question since anyone can see that I have spots and nose ridges.
Anyway, she said with a heavy sigh. You know, I hate seeing people like you in here. You're smart. I'd much rather see that intelligence used for good, rather than annoying my security officers, and by remote, me. It upsets the delicate balance of my symbiont. She patted her belly jokingly. And wouldn't you rather be working? You've got a little shop, right? Do you have anyone to mind the store while you're not there? Ryah knew that there wasn't much hope for her words to make a difference in the Bolian's life, but she couldn't help trying anyway, in the little bit of time she was here. Ryah had every intention of releasing Avi shortly. She had other things to deal with.

The young Miss Riordan was an interesting woman, although with his species' listening skills, Doug was the undisputed king of gossip. [Blue Beta Bar & Grill, Promenade - Front Ear Station] Caroline stirred her drink with a swizzle stick and thought about who Doug could be referring to. Her poison of choice for the moment was something called a 'Long Island Iced Tea.' An old Earth cocktail, so far as she knew there was no actual tea in it, just a lovely blend of strong alcohols. "Three guesses, but I'll only need one. Eyes like a cloudless sky, smug attitude, and the unfortunate penchant for wearing an abundance of leather?"She gave a small snort of laughter before knocking back some of her drink. In her handful of run-ins with the man in question, he'd definitely left an impression. "Sorry if that stole some of the thunder, but I definitely had a feeling there. He did or said some something blatantly obvious, didn't he? Nothing about that man screams subtle, including the pants. I'd love to know the details. And if the Captain witnessed it."A mischievous grin grew on her face, not entirely hidden by her glass. Sir Doug was a great source of all the juicy stories, and as counselor, it was good to keep her finger on the pulse. That was one way she justified her indulgence of gossip anyways. Dugris Zaman

[Matthew Harmon - Private Quarters, Deck 3]Harmon's alarm went off for the sixth time this morning. He turned it off again and tried to go back to sleep, but after a few more minutes he was again interrupted, this time by Captain Ellis summoning him. He signed and stuck his hand out feeling around his messy bedside table for his commbadge in the dark. "I'll be there soon," he groaned into the commbadge in response. A few more moments later he gathered the strength to get out of bed and turn the lights on, something he immediately regretted. The light hurt and he realised he had a splitting headache. He stumbled over an empty bottle of vodka as he headed to the shower, very much regretting last night given his current hangover.
[Blue Beta Bar and Grill]
Eventually, he made it to the Blue Beta, wearing a pair of sunglasses to help deal with the light. He looked around for the captain, contemplating ordering a drink. Hair of the dog often seemed to help.

"He was... let me put it this way."Doug punctuated his sentence with a little tap on the bar with the side of his hand, like the world's gentlest (or feeblest) karate chop, and then explained. "Are you familiar with the old Terran romantic comedy genre? Or the Kzinti rom-coms?" he asked. "It was, essentially, that." He took another swig. "Captain Leather, Captain Ellis, and myself had just finished the distraction rig on Kerelia. I'd set one of the most expert-level fires of my life, he argued with her, blah blah. Long story short, he and I run off, on her orders, and next thing I know, he's giving me this speech, of the Rom-Com variety, with every motif, no cliché left unturned. He talked about how impressive and lovely she is - which is true, how much they can't get along - fair. I think he mentioned her eyes, and I'm sure he mentioned her mother. Not to mention, he was so flustered, as I recall, to hear it said that I knew that he just dug his hole deeper, and I knew then that I had nailed it. Can't say he'll nail her, though; she's too smart."It wasn't often that Doug got a gem like that confession, and he was getting all the mileage he could out of it, to the best of his recollection. "He was so flustered, he actually, finally, called me 'Sir' Doug afterwards, like he's supposed to. It was a sight to behold; I don't think he would've been more embarrassed if his leather pants had ripped open."Doug took another swig of his glass and waited for a reaction.

Spotting a dark haired woman who appeared to be waiting for someone, Lea was sure she knew who it was, from discussions about the event. " Hello there, Colonel Vasser is it?".[NPC - Colonel Helena Vasser - Blue Beta Bar, Promenade, Front Ear Station] It was right on the tail-end of a greeting that Helena heard her name. Turning to face the woman, who had told her hello and wished to confirm her identity, Helena deduced the same. "Ah, Ms. Mazal. It really is a pleasure," she said. Of course, her deduction hadn't been based merely on context clues. "I also wanted to thank you once again for allowing us to host our event here. Your staff has been nothing short of incredible when it came to accommodating us."Helena exhaled. She pivoted slightly to glance at everything once more. "Everything looks grand," she stated once more. "On behalf of the Nyberrite Alliance, I have to express our utmost gratitude for everything you've done, as well as apologize for the inconvenience. I'm afraid our timing couldn't have been any worse." Helena paused a moment. "I understand that you've been on maternity leave lately. Am I right? The last thing I'd ever intentionally do is infringe upon such precious and personal time as this for you and your family."Helena's nose scrunched slightly as she stared at Helena. "I'm afraid I have one more odd, and rather intrusive request," Vasser said delicately. "And please, feel free to refuse, but I was wondering if you had any pictures of the baby?" Vasser stood there smiling. Her curiosity in the child was genuine. It was prudent that she make a genuine effort to get to know Leanna Mazal. It helped that the woman seemed pleasant, but one could only tell so much from first impressions, which Helena was counting on.

[ Leanna - Blue Beta Bar & Grill] As the Bar Owner waited to see if she had been correct with her assumption as to who she had greeted, she noticed that the bar had begun to fill up a little more, especially taking note of Costa's arrival and knew that Seamus would take good care of their business associate and potential friend until either herself or Fells could get to her. For now Leanna's attention was on the Colonel as Vasser confirmed who she was and thanked her again for allowing them to host their event in the bar as well as complimenting her staff for being so accommodating. " I appreciate your kind words Colonel as will my staff and I'm glad that we were able to offer you the space" Lea replied as Vasser then continued with the compliments as well as an apology regarding the timing and how she was aware of Aven's arrival. Lea listened and again appreciated what the Colonel was saying to her and knew that it wasn't exactly a secret about her being on maternity leave, but still it was nice for that to be recognised. " It was no trouble at all, Colonel ... my Fiance and staff well I can't fault their work ethic when it comes to organising such things and thank you its appreciated ... I'm slowly getting back into work although its nice to have less hours and have that balance between the two".Whilst she didn't have a great insight into the Nyberrite Alliance, Lea knew enough about Promenade life to know who your neighbours were and establish a decent and cordial relationship with them all. Whether that changed or not well that was the risk associated with being out here, especially on the fringes of space. Still so far Vasser hadn't done anything for Lea to mistrust or become suspicious and their conversation was pleasant and her words sincere. However when she then looked at her more intently and spoke of her request, Lea smiled as she thought it was nice of her to ask to see pictures of Aven. However Lea could do one better than show pictures of her son. " Actually I don't mind at all, in fact you can see the real thing" Lea said as she turned so Vasser could see Aven in the baby sling that was secured around her front. **************************** [ Seamus - Blue Beta] The Bar Manager was currently stood behind the main bar, quietly observing the area as well as the various customers, including Sir Doug and his drinking companion. Although the Irishman refrained from joining in with the gossip currently being shared by the two of them as he wasn't the type to indulge in such things, at least not yet. No the Irishman's mind was firmly on the group who had rented out the mezzanine level, unsure as to whether he trusted them or not but as always would reserve judgement until it was required. So he did what he did best and tend bar, noting Lea's arrival as she stopped to speak to the Colonel, before his attention shifted to the arrival of one Lex Costa, one of the few Freighter Captain's that he liked. " They are and one of them should be over soon" Seamus replied in answer to their business associate question and request that she needed either Lea or Fells to sign the PADD that she had on her. There was a slight curiosity about the box, that Costa placed on the bar top, but rather than focus on it, he listened as she enquired about a drink. " Of course, I'll get you your usual".Seamus then turned momentarily to fetch the bottle off the shelf and then poured Costa a healthy measure of her preferred tipple, then placed in it on the counter in front of her.
