[Costa - Blue Beta, Bar Area]Costa actually laughed when Halgerdur promised not to bring his baby. Unabashedly, she grinned, and offered a shrug. She was obviously very transparent when it came to the subject of the noisy, needy creatures, but she didn't exactly care. "Deal," she told her former colleague, mischief in the flash of her dark eyes for a brief moment. She picked up the rum he'd poured for her and nursed it for a few moments while both he and Leanna Mazal put Vasser on the spot with questions of their own. It was a good time to share a quick, quieter word with Alex Hust, who had just arrived. "Mi make yi kopeng, Husty¹," she said with some cheek, trying and failing for innocent nonchalance. She was leaning against the bar, left hand down by her waist. In a smooth movement she rotated her wrist, index finger pointed, making a sign for around, or all. He would notice the officers with the striking uniforms, she was sure, but what she didn't know was what he knew about them. Then, a little louder she asked, "Keting, mi mowteng wa reason fo ge mi tugut belówtwala wa rowm?²" She smiled and raised her glass to her lips. [Bar] When he'd arrived, the atmosphere and attitude presented immediately threw him off balance. First off, he'd been summoned and he didn't know why, which he never liked, but also as she indicated the uniformed persons around him. One could only hope there were no Betazoids in the room, or the unease interally would be found. However, he trusted Costa, to a point. If she thought it was good for him to be here, he'd listen for the time being. He kept his face passive and gave away as little as possible, as he nodded briefly. He didn't know who they were, but he could tell they weren't Starfleet. However, his concern was doubled when Costa spoke, and was being NICE to him. This was unexpected, and concerning. Whatever was causing it, it indicated that the meeting here was important. He'd take a passive role, listening and not saying much unless prompted. This was the Captain's decision - and for at least appearances sake the Captain had to be in charge. He'd bring up any concerns he had later. He listened as the woman - who he guessed was someone of rank - introduced a few details and shot out a pitch. That in and of itself was of note, as the pitch of "what Starfleet gave up on" made him feel a little like he was in a cult recruitment meeting. As the Rules of Acquisition clearly stated, 'The bigger the smile, the sharper the knife'. Collecting drinks - which was a pretty good motivator to at least listen - he moved his way to the background, behind Costa, who spoke for the Dog and her crew. He'd listen, but his initial unease was being replaced with a certain level of skepticism. He was being sold something, and he wasn't quite sure if he was in the market to buy personally.

When Kova said he was in over his head his smile widened. “I’ll take my chances.”
But then it seemed that Kova's interest was caught by Vasser’s words, and she wasn’t the only one. Whether she was correct in her assessment that the speech wasn’t meant for him... It wasn’t that the words meant nothing to him, or that he had nothing in common with the people who were the target audience. He did, only, maybe right now he was on an opposite path. Shavan was a misfit in Starfleet. But that fact only made him determined to carve a place for himself there in spite of it. Starfleet was his second chance, his other choice. But it hadn’t exactly been handed to him at some fancy reception; like anything he wanted, he had to take it. “I heard it.” he said more quietly. “She just made it sound too good to be true.” He downed the last of his ale. “But if you want to go talk to her, then let’s go.” Shavan gestured to where the group was gathering a few seats down the bar. He might be skeptical of what Vasser was selling, but he wasn’t one to turn down another free drink. [ Kova Sh'qaleq - Blue Beta Bar, Promenade, Front Ear Station] "Famous last words," Kova replied when Shavan said that he'd take his chances. Vasser's words seemed to ripple throughout the bar, as it seemed to be the only thing that everyone was talking about. The woman had struck a nerve, one raw with emotion. It stirred either hope or skepticism in them all. The thing was, she had left little to no middle ground, and one way or another you would have to take a side. Yet, that had been Kova's life since leaving home: trying to find out where she stood. When she thought of her time at the Academy up to right now, Starfleet had definitely given mixed signals. Shavan said that he'd heard the message, and Vasser had made it all sound too good to be true. "As opposed to utterly miserable?" she remarked. That was never the best strategy, but at the same time Kova couldn't see where Vasser had actually lied. The Andorian then found herself surprised by at Shavan's next suggestion, that they go and talk to her. Kova looked over her shoulder at those gathered around Vasser. From her point of view, just approaching the woman could say a great deal. Still, Kova had never been one to shy away from controversey. "Are you sure?" she asked the scientist. "Because the bathroom is on the other side of the bar, and it'll be hard to talk your way out of it." She followed his lead and downed the rest of her ale. "Let's go then. She slid from her stool, and then turned towards Vasser's direction.

[NPC - Colonel Helena Vasser - Blue Beta Bar, Promenade, Front Ear Station] [...] As Fells offered to pour her a drink, Vasser nodded. "Yes. Thank you," she said to the drink. She wasn't sure how much comfort she took in the responses she got from each of them. Costa was willing to sit for the rum, and her colleague would likely follow his captain's lead, which said a great deal. Alex Hust. He wasn't very high on Vasser's list, but if it meant bringing in Costa, she'd take him as well despite the grief the man would likely put her CMO through. She felt that Lea was willing to listen, but possibly more out of obligation than interest. Yet, that could change because of Fells. She listened to his question about why she was trying so hard to recruit people. She chuckled slightly as he suggested she was possibly trying to equal Starfleet's numbers in the region. "If I may speak freely, the Alliance is not getting into a pissing contest with Starfleet," Vasser answered. "We're simply providing people with an option and an opportunity they didn't have before." "This is the Alliance's backyard, and there is a vested interest in maintaining its stability." Vasser took a deep breath before speaking further. "As far as my personal motives go, I may be trying hard to land some prospective recruits, but that's because I want the best." Vasser finally knocked back the shot of rum she had been holding, and then turned her eyes to each of them gathered. "I've done my homework. I know for one reason or another, the fleet gave up on you. It was their loss, and not a mistake I plan to repeat given the opportunity."Vasser looked at each of them, wondering if her words had phased them in the least. "I'm hoping that you'll at least entertain the idea of working with or joining the Alliance before dismissing it altogether," Vasser commented. "I have my own vision of how each of you could contribute, but I think it's only fair to hear from you how you see your potential involvement." Vasser took a deep breath. "Typically, someone may pull you aside and promise you a private moon and more. But as I said, I believe in transparency and am willing to discuss it all right here openly."[Blue Beta Bar - Fells] Fells was surprised to hear that Lea was willing to listen to Vesser. He would have expected her to be more careful and for her Betazoid antennas to pick up the ladies' real intentions. He mixed her a longdrink, that he had learned from Seamus, with a generous dash of whiskey while he listened. It was almost as if she was directing word only at him while she was looking at everyone else. Fells really had to work hard not to show his interest. "So you're giving people a second chance...to do what? What's the objective ...the goal of your alliance if not to be competition to Starfleet?" It was Aven, who seemed to pick up on something and started fuzzing. Fells gently rubbed his back but this time he didn't want to stop so he bounced him a little. "Excuse me." Fells then turned away and when he passed Lea, reached for her hand to pull her in a quiet corner. "I know you usually don't do this....can you read her intentions? Is this a genuine offer?" He was aware that Lea did not read people without their consent. He'd listen, but his initial unease was being replaced with a certain level of skepticism. He was being sold something, and he wasn't quite sure if he was in the market to buy personally. [Costa - Blue Beta, Bar Area]Costa remained silent for the duration, and that continued as Halgerdur asked his questions. He paused for his answer, before taking his missus by the hand and leading her off somewhere else. He was either entertaining Vasser's pitch to the extent that he was considering taking her up on the offer of a position, or he was getting ready to boot them out. Either way, the vacuum of silence continued a little longer as Costa sipped her drink and stared at the woman, trying to figure a few things out. "Na wanna job, Colonel," she said eventually. With a flick of her wrist she gestured behind her, where Hust was standing, "We got one." Seeing as she wasn't surrounded by Fleeters as she stood in the Blue Beta, a feat fairly unusual, she was automatically slipping into her more natural cadence of speech, though she kept the language fairly basic. "But tha' na mean we can't do business."Neither she nor her people were interested in becoming rank and file again. However, Costa had things that she needed, things that she couldn't get. Just beyond her reach, and the obstacle standing in her way just so happened to be Starfleet. "Dis ya neck o' the woods, ya?" The Nyberrite Alliance were Front Ear's neighbours. It stood to reason that they were very familiar with what was in their backyard - Kerelia included. "Would like ta pick ya brain." It became clear to her quickly that she wasn't the only one interested in the Colonel's brain; a small group of other guests were hovering nearby, seemingly keen to speak to her. And so, she added, "When ya got time." Then she held her empty glass aloft and shook it from side to side, signaling to whatever bartender had replaced the excited Halgerdur.

[Felicity Ellis - Blue Beta Bar & Grill]Felicity took some time just to be seen. She might have sneaked in initially, but after the Alliance's speech and their very obvious intentions, she thought it best to remind some of the guests that she was paying attention. She wasn't so deluded as to think her mere presence would deter anyone, but she wanted to appear available to those who might want to talk through their options; be that with the fleet, or with the Alliance. She spied the group of Security personnel who had clustered together, and felt some relief that they were at least taking an interest in this potential security breach. They were hard to miss, of course, by virtue of the sizable Sven Aune. She had decided to check in with the department when movement caught her eye. Fells, with little Aven attached, and Lea were moving offside for what looked like a private exchange. Not wanting to interrupt, but also wanting to give the pair an opportunity to attend to their work without having to worry about the tiny, new baby, she made a quick decision and approached. She'd be lying if she didn't admit to herself that she was also very much looking for any excuse to dote over the boy. "Hi, you two," she greeted when she reached them, then put her hands up in surrender. "I came over here to offer to mind Aven for a bit while you worked, but full disclosure, I'm really just here for the godson cuddles. It's very selfish, I know." She opened her palms and looked at Fells hopefully. "May I?" He activated his communicator. "Harmon to the cap'n. I've run those system diagnostics you requested. They've been sent to you." "What do you think, little liefling? Want to come with Auntie Flick and read some reports? Yes?" She cooed at the baby, before quickly tapping her badge to respond to Harmon. =/\= "Acknowledged, Lieutenant. They'll get my full attention. Ellis out." =/\= Well, she though as she looked at the bundle of powdered, puking cuteness, they'd get most of her attention.

[NPC - SCPO Melihn Ryah - Blue Beta Bar] Ryah hadn’t expected Sven’s reaction to Avi’s torment nor his serious question in the midst of the social event. She did smile slightly as he answered Doug’s question about Avi. While it would have been questionable for her to do so, Sven, as the victim of her prank, had every right to speak of it. Before she could formulate any kind of reply, a female began speaking from the mezzanine, drawing the attention of most of the crowd. Ryah turned and leaned against the bar to listen to the speech. Peace, she thought as the woman descended. But at what cost? It seemed odd to be making such a recruitment speech to a group made up largely of Starfleet officers. Turning back to face Doug and Sven, she finally responded, If you have no real problem with Avi, then I’ll instruct the others to leave her alone unless she commits an actual crime. I’ll leave the call up to you whether she’s pushed things too far. Just let me know.
As to your question - you’re doing fine. Believe me, you’d know if I had any problems with you. She said this with a smile up at the man towering over her. She seriously considered his concerns about the NA, but also understood that station security couldn’t treat them any differently than other residents. Lieutenant, I understand your concern, and even share it to an extent; however, their ship already passed inspection upon its arrival, and we can’t detain them further without cause. We’ll remain vigilant, as always, with regular security sweeps of the station, and I’ll bring your concerns to the captain. I think I see her over there. It was difficult for her to tell for sure, with the milling people and her lack of stature.
[Sir Dugris "Doug" Zaman, MBE, PhD, JD, MBA, RA, PE - Blue Beta Bar & Grill]The discussion of Avi Moz was disrupted by the Nyberrite Alliance, a far more serious source of malfeasance. The speech was... grandiose, a little self-righteous, pompous. Doug didn't have an especially positive perspective of the Nyberrite Alliance, but Vasser was something special. "She sure wants to make a statement, doesn't she?" he asked rhetorically, after the officers had finished their business-y interaction. "She's calling out for attention, and not subtly either. Kinda reminds me of my... 17th wife. She was a real egotist. In hindsight, I'm kinda glad it didn't work out with her."
|Promenade, Blue Beta Bar and Grill |It was curiosity more than anything that brought Rio to the meeting, after all, there were better things to do on a day off, but this promised the chance for some entertainment. Of course, it depended on how you looked at the organization from the start...some saw pure mercenaries, out for profit regardless, others saw opportunistic mercenaries, looking to advance an agenda at a profit, and others saw something more akin to a charity, mercenaries helping just causes...for a profit. Regardless, there obviously wasn't enough bad dirt on them to shut them down, so they were allowed to make their case, and if people wanted to buy into it, that was their choice. She wasn't buying. But, the offer to take a tour of their ship caught her attention...something to do, and something different...she'd go along on that! And when she caught Sven's comment on the safety, she figured it wouldn't hurt to have Security along, although she was sure that the vessel had been vetted, or it likely wouldn't be docked here at all. When Fells had briefly seen her in the crowd on the other side of the room, Flick seemed busy and Fells was preoccupied with Vesser and Costa and the baby and ...Lea, of course...and pouring drinks. So he hadn't really taken note of her until she somewhat snuck up on them just when he asked Lea to spy on Vesser.
Inwardly he jumped but on the outside he remained cool. Appearing calm and collected under all circumstances was a big asset in prison. It made you seem strong even when you were not.
The smile that followed was genuine, though. After all the woman wasn't only Lea's best friend but also responsible for his shortened stay in the penal colony, that could have been 10 times longer. "It's really good to see you." He gently handed over Aven, who had been doing a bit of fuzzing and if she wanted to calm him down, that was most welcome. "He's just started that...no idea why. But you are a woman...you probably know what to do..." Of course, seeing her reminded him how much she actually knew about him and he couldn't help the shame he suddenly felt as well. Fells tried to push it back and remind himself that he had paid his dues.
"Are you just here to babysit or on official business....keeping an eye on the lady at the bar, who is paying us a fortune to host this shameless fiasco?"

Patting Sven’s arm comfortingly, she said, Of course, and you remain vigilant. I’m going to go speak to the captain. She lifted a hand to the small group and made her way over to where Felicity had just joined Lea and Fells. Nodding at the bar owner and her partner, Ryah grinned at Aven and waggled her fingers at him. She turned her attention to Felicity and said, Captain, I’m sorry to bother you, but I must admit that I’m more than a little concerned about all of this, as are some of my officers. I’d like to quietly increase our security presence, especially on the promenade, while such a large group is here. Ryah gestured vaguely at the large crowd with an apologetic shrug. It was one of those gut feelings that were so hard to explain.

The crowd was pretty tightly packed, however, and she found it difficult, and was forced far closer to a couple of gold-uniforms than she really wanted to be. At the same time, someone stumbled into Robyn, smelling distinctly of strong liquor. Her arms were grabbed as the person steadied themselves and she found herself looking into the the wrinkled face of a sloshed Zakdorn. He blinked at her blearily and said, quite loudly, and trying to enunciate, Thish, this shindig ish quite the load of du- hic- cra- hic...codssswallop. He popped the P, scattering spittle. Even louder, he exclaimed, My life was r-runid by the char- shar- fakes that lead thish or-gan-i-za-tion. The Zakdorn pointed regally toward Vasser, then, alarmingly, started her direction, pushing his way through groups of people without a thought, treading on toes, poking sides, and generally making himself a nuisance.

[Promenade] Tom walked with Caroline as he heads the question about who was Jimmy Hoffa. The man looked down and chuckled as she appeared to have no clue that it was a running joke in the 20th Century Earth the location of Jimmy Hoffa. He looked at her and smiled with a small nod and merely responded “I don’t think we need to worry about him. That is unless we want to create a Union with ties with Organized Crime. In which case, we would need to worry about him.” . Tom responded as it was a long story trying to explain Jimmy Hoffa and his disappearance with organized crimes. With a mystery on which where the body is. Jett listened to Caroline's comments about the Bar and that she was on the Captain’s naughty list. She appeared that she did want to go into detail and he was not exactly the best person to be talking about their past. She listened that there was a party and basically got invited to grab their food and drink and forget about the sales pitch. They were several issues going on and Tom listened without interrupting. “Ahhh the Captain” . He said and he thought of Felicity for a second. It was different and he tried to keep his words more diplomatic and the Captain relationship with the crew is something different. It was hard to explain but it about caring about the people in your command but also be willing to do what is necessary when you are in a mission. It is a delicate and hard balance and. “She is a strong person…I’m sure that whatever you did to be in the naughty list, can be fixed and forgiven. Trust me, I have done worse, believe me. If you ever need to talk or vent I’m here” . He then thought of the time they pointed weapons at each other. He then looked down and thought of his prior conversation with Aella. “To be honest, never heard of them until recently and they have not been on my radar. So this is recent, don’t know much about them and quite frankly had no reason to.”. Tom looked down for a second as he was thinking. Why are they making a splash now? Tom wondered. “Ohh, I’m sure they are selling Timeshares with Ferengi Tactics. Personally, I would love to get one with a Pink Portico and sign up for the limited time and unlimited fees. Sounds like a Bargain. . He responded sarcastically. He then responded “Sure, we should check the food and free drinks. What could possibly go wrong?” . He said as he shrugged he did not have anything better to do and after everything. Going to a small get together seemed harmless. [Promenade - Front Ear Station] Despite still being confused by the mysterious mystery of Jimmy Hoffa, Caroline had to bite her lips to avoid the smile that threatened to spread when she saw the look on his face while he talked about Captain Ellis. Doug liked a bit of hyperbole, but he was probably right on the money there. She’d just about give her left leg to find out the story between the two of them. ”I appreciate the offer to vent. As a counselor, it’s usually the other way round, for me. People telling me their deep, dark secrets and whatnot. I probably made it sound worse than it is, don’t worry. Mostly stems from the fact I can’t fire a phaser and hit the broadside of a targ, even if it danced a meter in front of me, wearing a tutu.”She eloquently shrugged a shoulder, unconcerned. She preferred to solve her problems with words, and if that failed, there was usually someone else around to handle hostilities. It was good to have friends with a variety of skills. ”Words are my weapon of choice, Captain. I usually manage to talk myself into and out of trouble with equal ability. Well, enough about me. Onto the food and drinks, compliments of the Neverbites. I hope they’ve got good cheese.”Caroline held out her arm to Jett, in a jokingly gallant offer to escort him to the bar. ”Shall we?"

[NPC - SCPO Melihn Ryah - Blue Beta Bar] Robyn made her way down to the restaurant and bar area, hoping to lose herself in the crowd without running into anyone she knew.
|Blue Beta Bar|Rio noticed Sven's gesture and headed that way, weaving through the crowd. So far things seemed to be progressing well, but then, she wouldn't expect that an organization that wanted to project sunshine and lollipops would cause open trouble. But that didn't mean there weren't people here who had grudges...add a little free alcohol, and PRESTO! Entertainment! She hadn't heard the whole exchange with the Zakdorn, but had caught enough, and could tell from his demeanor that he was bent on trouble. Glancing Sven's way, she nodded and pointed to the guy as she trotted after him, to intercept him. "Hey!" she called as she fell in beside him, "you're Blini, aren't you?" She was making this up on the fly, but if it distracted the man, it would work. "You wrote that book right? The one on the effects of weather on combat strategy? Man, that was brilliant!"If the flattery didn't work, she was ready to get physical if it came to that. Heck, who didn't like a good fight? Sven Aune; Ozu Saya

And as Security, even though she wasn't on duty, didn't mean she wouldn't get involved if something happened. And as Security, she did have a phaser concealed under satin jacket, not that she thought it was going to be necessary. Sitting in the back of the room, she listened to the spiel, allowing as how it sounded all right, that most of what they said made sense. She stood and dropped her latte cup in the recycler, then wandered closer to the group that seemed interested in the tour. | Blue Beta Bar and Grill || lt. This was not a good situation if indeed the alliance was up to no good. But there may be a chance they were trying to re-brand their image. He doubted it. He nodded to his superior officer. "May I?" "What do you think, little liefling? Want to come with Auntie Flick and read some reports? Yes?" She cooed at the baby, before quickly tapping her badge to respond to Harmon. =/\= "Acknowledged, Lieutenant. They'll get my full attention. Ellis out." =/\= Well, she though as she looked at the bundle of powdered, puking cuteness, they'd get most of her attention. [NPC - SCPO Melihn Ryah - Blue Beta Bar] Ryah’s eyes widened as Sir Doug mentioned his seventeenth wife. Seventeen wives? Prophets! [Sir Dugris "Doug" Zaman, MBE, PhD, JD, MBA, PE, RA - Blue Beta Bar & Grill]Doug again let the security talk flow around him (and, well, into his ears), and focused on the questions directed at him. "Nowadays, I'm a consultant. I do more or less as I please," he answered. "I run my experiments, I write my books, sometimes your people call on me so I can tell you how to survive Kerelia, or how many Piano tuners there are on Caldonia."Then, the rather... immense Zakdorn began his antics. Doug knew better than to mock a man when he's down, having been down many times in the last millennium. Not that he'd had a hard life, just that a long life had more hard times than a short life. "He's not the first to be trampled in the Nyberrite Alliance's path," Doug remarked. "They're mercenaries, plain and simple."

[ Leanna - Blue Beta Bar & Grill] If there was one person that Lea loved to see more than her beloved Fells, it was her best friend Flick. So when she approached them, all thoughts about what she had just shared with her Fiance and the urge to return to the others, were soon forgotten. Yes she didn't like this whole Alliance thing, now that she was getting to understand Vasser's potential motives and what it could mean for her and her family, but at least with Flick around, it felt normal and as it should be. Besides she wasn't about to upset her relationship with the Fleet, not when they had worked together well in the past. Still as Flick then greeted them and offered to take Aven, Lea was happy for her son to spend some time with his Godmother. Smiling as she revealed her reason for doing so and not just because she wanted to help them out. Loving the special relationship that was developing between the pair as her bestie then answered a hail. As Fells then handed over their son, after greeting Flick, her Fiance wasn't far off with how Aven hadn't been himself and despite his age, Lea couldn't help but wonder if it was something to do with his Betazoid side. Whatever the reason, it wasn't like him to fuss. " I'm so happy to see you Flick and thank you .... Fells is right he's not normally like this but I'm sure some time with Aunty Flick will do him good".Picking up a hint of what Fells was feeling, Lea understood why as her Fiance then asked Flick why she was here. Shameless fiasco was quite an apt description for what was happening but at the same time, she had no idea just how popular the Alliance was on the Station. As they were then joined by Chief Melihn, Lea acknowledged the Security officer with a smile as she fussed over Aven, before speaking directly to Flick. Appreciating the Chief's concern about this whole situation and glad that she wasn't the only one to start having doubts over the presence of so many.

[Promenade, Front Ear Station] Tom continued his slow walk down the Promenade as he listened to the counselor. She mentioned that she was the one that did the listening and learning people's secrets. Which is a noble and necessary cause, however, some secret can’t be shared. He remained quiet for a second as the part of keeping secrets made him a little more guarded for a second. He thought that maybe she might be fishing for information or the statement could have been bening.
Tom stopped and looked at Cara “The offer still stands, everyone needs to talk to someone at sometimes.” . The stopped of a second and realized how hypocritical those words seemed. If there was someone that kept secrets from everyone including his own crew is himself. He opened once before and trusted people and people died. It was simple as that as he was reminded about his own mistakes.
“Words could be your weapon of choice. And I wished we lived a universe in which that is enough. I wouldn't worry I could always take you to our range in the Falcon and see what’s up with your stance or weapon of choice. More than willing to take a look at it. Different people have different natural stances and it might affect your aim. Y’know most people don’t realize that the reason why Starfleet uses Phasers instead of disruptors is that phaser can be more flexible, so we can use that to our advantage, maybe adjust the beams. Or…” .
Jett stopped a second and picked up an orange from one of the stances. “We can modify your Type II Phaser, with a follow device using the target. So if this orange is the target and my finger gun is your phaser it will naturally head towards the target and you can’t miss. In order words …rig the test. . He then smiled and continued “My guess is Captain Ellis will figure it out and she would know exactly the type of person that would come up with a cheat. . Tom said as he was pretty sure Ellis would notice that the phaser was rigged to give someone amazing reflexes and perfect aim when the person was probably not that great in the past. He then place the Orange back into the vendor’s place.
As he offered her arm Jett then said “Of Course” . As he picked up her arm.
[Blue Beta Bar (Entrance)]
Tom approached the bar and noticed that it was crowded heavily. It was like a sea of people. It was not surprising that if they were offering free drinks and food for everyone. The place was crowded and for his taste a little too crowded. The resources for pulling something like this off would be insane.
“Want to head to the Bar area?” . Tom asked Cara. As they were still at the entrance and he wondered how many people in the place he would recognize.

[Blue Beta Bar - Fells] When Fells had briefly seen her in the crowd on the other side of the room, Flick seemed busy and Fells was preoccupied with Vesser and Costa and the baby and ...Lea, of course...and pouring drinks.
"Are you just here to babysit or on official business....keeping an eye on the lady at the bar, who is paying us a fortune to host this shameless fiasco?" [NPC - SCPO Melihn Ryah - Blue Beta Bar] Ryah’s eyes widened as Sir Doug mentioned his seventeenth wife. Seventeen wives? Prophets! [Felicity Ellis - Blue Beta Bar & Grill]Felicity laughed aloud when he commented that she was a woman, and therefore knew what to do... assuming that he was joking. They'd left those kinds of gender roles back in the 20th century, after all. "Better not mention that to the Xyrillians, huh?" Felicity asked the baby, her voice delighted as she took him from his father and rested him against her chest, careful to support the head. She laid her cheek on the top of his soft crown and smiled at the news that he'd been a bit fussy. "The atmosphere in here is pretty charged. Maybe he's picking up on that?"Then, when Fells laid out some reasons for her being there, she nodded, all the while swaying a little with Aven in her arms. "Thought it was a good idea to see for myself. I can't stop anyone from joining the Alliance, but I can show up for anyone who might be confused." She smiled as Chief Melihn approached, and before turning to the newcomer, added to Leanna and Fells, "Let me know if they give you any problems.""Hi Chief!" She said brightly, turning Aven a little so that he could see her waving. Then in a more somber, soft voice, she agreed with Melihn's plan. "Do it, Chief. In conjunction, there's a report I'd like you to go over with me, I think you'll find it helpful."When a scuffle seemed to break out, Felicity automatically angled her body away from the crowd, mindful of the baby. She was pleased to see that Rio Sosa stepped in quickly; she'd expect nothing else from their Security people. "Who had 1830 HRS in the pool?" She should probably be surprised that it had taken so long for someone to get a little rowdy.

[ Brooke - Private Quarters] With Greg in a reminiscing mood, Brooke always loved to listen whenever he spoke about himself or them as a couple and this was no different, especially when he mentioned about their new life on Front Ear. There was no doubt that things had gotten even better and she honestly couldn't wait to become Mrs Ellis in as little as four weeks time. Yet she wouldn't change a single thing about it either, because she was meant be with the man, who cared so much. " I know, I have to pinch myself sometimes at how lucky I've been to have the kind of life, I've always dreamed about" she replied softly as he then vowed to take his turn when it came to cooking meals and how he would need a few lessons. Brooke loved how he was willing to try so she didn't have to do everything which earned him a quick kiss as she answered him. " Sounds good to me and you know, I don't mind teaching you".Not only did she enjoy cooking in all its forms, but she also liked teaching, although could just imagine how it would go and it sounded like a lot of fun. As talk then turned to what kind of food they should go for, when it came to their wedding, Brooke quite liked the idea of a buffet rather than a sit down meal, especially when it came to catering for those with different dietary needs. " I think we should go with a buffet, much easier and less stressful than trying to cater a sit down meal".Knowing how important it was for them to discuss the final details now or at least begin too as Greg then asked about her Dad, as well as mentioning the responses he had received from some of the Leeds crew. That was good to hear, until he brought up the subject of Antoinette, that even the way his hand lingered on her back, couldn't take away. " I have and he'll get here a couple of days before it and that's good about those from the Leeds".Saving her comments about his Mother, knowing that he didn't like bringing her up but knew that they couldn't ignore it, especially with the smile he gave her, followed by his suggestion of going to get a drink when they had gotten through this. " I like that idea and I know we can't ignore her ..... I honestly don't know what to do".Taking a moment to switch the cakes over and take out the first two, Brooke placed them on the counter, then returned her attention to her husband to be, hoping they could think of something regarding his Mother.
tag Felicity Ellis (Greg) [Gregory Ellis - Private Quarters]Ever the Commander, Greg picked up his PADD, closed down his transfer orders and brought up the very complicated, very long Wedding Check-List. "Buffet it is. Let's schedule a meeting with Lea and her staff to finalise our favourite dishes. The popcorn shrimp is a definite." He sneaked a quick glance at Brooke, wondering at her reaction to that one. It wasn't exactly 'wedding fancy' but it was such a firm favourite. "Maybe as a side option?""All for lessening the stress," he muttered in agreement to her decision as he scrolled down another list, eyes darting all over the screen. "What about seating plans?" He brought up the very complicated dining diagram and frowned at it. "Since we're keeping the dinner relatively stress-free with buffet-style, should we make seating equally as free-form, do you think?" The lack of Antoinette made things a lot easier, he found. Naturally all of the Eastman-Williamses would like to sit together, Flick could go anywhere, and Brooke's dad was the perfect dinner companion. The Leeds crew would gravitate naturally toward each other, too. Perhaps they should continue to roll with the more relaxed approach. "Well, you can ignore her, babe. So can I, to an extent." Technically he was only obligated to speak to her in a professional capacity. She had, however, made some recent overtures. She'd seemed genuine, but Greg had three decades of dealing with her machinations. "I'd suggest talking to Flick about it, but I already know what she'd say." There'd be cursing involved, he was sure. He sighed, deleted Antoinette Ellis' name on the 'To Be Discussed' List, and moved on. "Long-range forecast models on Kerelia all show blue skies and balmy evenings for the week we've chosen."As Brooke placed her freshly baked sponges on the counter he eyed them with some interest. "So, tell me about these?"

Fells was surprised to hear that Lea was willing to listen to Vesser. The Bar Owner was saved from being the first to comment as Fells spoke to Vasser and questioned her further. Hoping that he wasn't considering joining, before Aven became unsettled and Fells excused himself, but not before he took hold of her hand and she followed, sensing his urgency in doing so. She knew what he was asking and it went against everything she upheld when it came to using her abilities. " I don't know, it's difficult to tell with so many people around and without reading her further with permission. Although I get the feeling that if we turn her down, she won't give up until we say yes or make our life difficult in the process, until we have no choice but to accept" she replied quietly. " We better get back over there and see what she knows about us, plus Flick will be joining us soon". Costa remained silent for the duration, and that continued as Halgerdur asked his questions. [...] If there was one person that Lea loved to see more than her beloved Fells, it was her best friend Flick. [...] Picking up a hint of what Fells was feeling, Lea understood why as her Fiance then asked Flick why she was here. [NPC - Colonel Helena Vasser - Blue Beta Bar, Promenade, Front Ear Station] Colonel Vasser took a deep breath as she listened to Fells' questions. She expected a level of skepticism and caution, and the last thing she wanted to do was to feed into that. And she certainly wasn't going to shrink and withdraw when confronted with it. When he asked about the Alliance offering second chances, the colonel stared back at him with a slight smile, as if she were trying to read into his question. "Are you interested in a second chance, Fells?" she asked. He quickly followed up with the question of what their motives were if not to rival Starfleet. The smile on her face broadened as she stifled a slight laugh. "Why would we be competing with Starfleet? Their primary mission is exploration. The Alliance deals in protection and security, with the advantage of not disqualifying employees with a retroactive morality clause." She hadn't gotten far in her explanation when the child began to fuss. As dutiful parents, Fells and Leanna excused themselves to see to their son. Of course, Vasser was rather confident that her name was being passed between two of them while they were away. Next came Costa's declaration that she wasn't looking for a job. While the overall numbers were strong, it did feel as if she were beginning to miss out on several of those high-value acquisitions. "That's disappointing, but not entirely unexpected," Vasser said as she turned to face the freighter captain. "However, you're right. There's absolutely no reason that we can't continue to do business." She listened as Costa she'd like to pick Vasser's brain about the region. It was just further proof of how valuable Costa would have been, thinking several moves ahead and not merely reacting. The colonel slowly nodded, even as Costa mentioned possibly addressing the situation later when she had the opportunity. Vasser quickly noticed several people beginning to approach her. "Very well," said Vasser. She even took a bit of initiative and leaned over the bar to liberate one of the bottles of rum. She held it up for the bartender to see and then topped off her glass before giving it to Costa. "To the best XO I'll never have." Vasser lifted her glass. "And the headaches from my CMO that I've been spared from." She brought the glass to her lips and swallowed its contents. Her eyes then spotted the pair of Andorians moving closer. One of them she recognized immediately. Kova Sh'qaleq. One from the intelligence reports she'd read from her own Intelligence officer, but also from the woman's mother. Captain Sh'tarrin had to have set a record for the shortest exchange of small talk when Kova was mentioned. Of course, that only made learning about the woman more appealing. Vasser didn't do anything to impede their approach, though a spying eye towards the parents seemed to reveal that Captain Ellis was making her rounds as well. Perhaps reassuring her flock, or gauging the state of affairs in her own backyard. The colonel wasn't allowed the opportunity to expand on those thoughts before a rather raucous interruption came from the opposite direction. She could see a rather cantankerous, or just plain tanked, Zakdorn began shouting about something. It was difficult to make out every word, but he was clearly upset with the Alliance. Vasser could see some of her people already moving, either to intercept the gentleman or whisk Vasser off to safety. She held up her hand signalling for them to maintain their positions. On this evening, in this place, security was Starfleet's responsibility. For it to get out of hand could easily fall into her favor. At the same time, she wasn't going to just let the fired speech stand uncontested, despite the fact that only every other word was intelligible. She noticed the woman intercept the Zakdorn, attempting to diffuse the situation. How successful she'd be was the question. "Excuse me. If you have a grievance with the Nyberrite Alliance, I'd like to hear it out," said Vasser. Perhaps she was fanning the flames. After all, when playing with fire, one could easily get burned. "I promised transparency. That means I don't have the luxury of hiding our dirty laundry." Perhaps she was stirring the pot. Perhaps she was making a point. That would be for the onlookers to decide.

[Gregory Ellis - Private Quarters]Ever the Commander, Greg picked up his PADD, closed down his transfer orders and brought up the very complicated, very long Wedding Check-List.
Tag: Leanna Mazal (Brooke). [ Brooke - Private Quarters] Cakes now cooling, Brooke returned her attention to her Fiance as he took hold of the PADD again to add their idea to their very long list. Okay it could probably be shorter, but at the same time, she was the type not to want to miss anything out and at least with Greg now home more, they could work their way through it and take off what they didn't need. So as he then suggested arranging a meeting with Lea and her stafft to finalise their wedding favourites, she smiled when he mentioned popcorn shrimp. That smile became a grin with the way he then looked at her and spoke about it being a side option. " Sounds good to me and as Maid of Honour, Lea will no doubt have a few surprises for us too .. but as for popcorn shrimp, that's a definite and I'm happy to have it be amongst the main dishes".Even the mention of it, had her salivating and knew that she would definitely have to order some when they got to the bar. As one thing was sorted, next came the idea of them making the seating arrangements just as relaxed as their menu choices, which wasn't a bad thing as they were both in agreement of making it as less stressful as possible. When she was asked what she thought, Brooke was quick to answer. " I think that's a great idea, then we don't have to worry about a top table and who needs to be on it and where to seat everyone ... oh that reminds me we should have an extra guest on the list" Brooke then paused for a moment, then shared who it was. " Little Aven who is just the cutest".When the topic of his Mother came back up, he was right she could ignore her and so he could he to a certain extent. Although that didn't make it any easier but she couldn't argue with the reasons why she was no longer invited or what Flick's reaction would be to it either. " You're right I can and yeah I can imagine Flick's reaction if you did" she replied as he then informed her of the weather conditions for their planned week on Kerelia. " Perfect, just what we need for our wedding week".Then she grinned again when Greg became interested in the sponges that she had taken out of the oven. " We have a plain chocolate and chocolate orange, then we have a red velvet, plain vanilla and a lemon drizzle sponge that are now baking ... I wanted to give us a selection so you could pick your favourites for the cake".
