[CMO's Quarters - USS Mac] [...] " I agree it's really good and all I will say is that I had some help" Thea replied, realising that her answer might not truly satisfy the scientist within her boyfriend, but that didn't mean that he wouldn't get to know the truth whilst enjoying teasing him and being playful in the process. [Lt. Isaiah Quinn - CMO's Quarters, USS Mac] As Isaiah indulged in the meal, he became more and more certain that it was one of the best meals he'd head in a long time. As good as it tasted, he was certain that the company contributed to it being such a joyous experience as well. A long breath left his lips as she shook his head, having already sampled a hearty helping of nearly everything. "Whew! After eating all of that, I don't know how much good I'll be on the Bridge," Isaiah joked. He gave his stomach a pat, almost wondering if there was time to include a nap. "My compliments to you and your help," Isaiah said. "So, have you gone through any additional prep with your staff for this exercise?" Isaiah reached for the coffee and poured himself a cup. He held it up, as if to ask if Thea cared for some as he offered to pour.

[PO2 Bav Th'cherreq - Docking Port]
Bav scoffed and shook his head at S'Riia. He didn't particularly care if they used him as target practice. Would make for a more lively day at the very least, or mean he didn't have to put up with all the bullshit anymore. Certainly not the worst thing that could happen. "What positives?" he grumbled under his breath. She then hit him with her tail and he tried to grab it out of anger but missed. Figuring he could use a drink right about now he followed the small group that had begun to assemble. No reason he couldn't enjoy this useless assignment a little.
Tag: Isaiah Quinn , soft tag Kaya Som [NPC - 2nd Lieutenant Neema - Docking Port, Plaza Level, Starbase Sigma 4] Neema led the group of Starfleet visitors through the Plaza. The Federation parade quickly gained a set of onlookers as the residents of the station gazed upon the unfamiliar sight. They were met with a mixture of smiles, whispers and glares. Nevertheless, the young officer was still enthusiastic about her job, giving an impromptu tour as they moved along. "This is the Plaza, it's similar to your very own Promenade levels. We have a variety of shoppes, restaurants and taverns on the various levels. We have alerted all the proprietors to your visit. Any foods and drinks will be covered the Alliance with you as our guests. However, you will be financially responsible for any souvenirs you decide to purchase."It was bit of a walk, but in Neema's opinion, the final destination would be worth it. "And this place, is a personal favorite of mine, Kirby's Bar and Grill. There are several screens and one holographic ring displaying a variety of sports and competitions from a variety of worlds. Earth's baseball playoffs, Parrisses Squares match, Bat'leth tournaments... whatever your preference, chances are it's on a screen."Neema led them into the bar and found herself instantly waved over to a vacant table. Neema wasn't certain if all the officers cared to sit together or not, but she was going to give them an option. "Thank you for the table, Donna. These are my new friends. This is Kaya Som," she said introducing the young Trill she'd met. She then realized that she hadn't taken the time to introduce herself to the others that had joined them. Hopefully, not a mistake that would give them a negative impression of the Alliance. The temptation to pull their names from their minds was great, but she didn't cave to the temptation, feeling that would have been too intrusive. She allowed a moment's pause for them to make introductions themselves, preparing herself to commit their memories to name, specifically the Caitian looking female and the Andorian.

[NPC - PO1 S'Riia - Docking Port, Starbase Sigma 4] S'Riia ignored Bav's annoying question about what positives. If she'd been allowed to bring a phaser she probably would have stunned him and said that he'd fainted. She quickened her pace to catch up with Kaya. She'd heard rumors of a little blow up between the Trill and Lt. Niles from tactical. S'Riia hadn't wanted to make more of it than what it was, but she did know how upsetting the sights aboard the Jupiter Star had been. She simply wanted let Kaya know that she had her support. "This place is really fascinating, S'Riia remarked. As soon as she made the statement, her eyes fell upon a little boutique. Her keen eyesight, making short work of identifying the fabric of one of the outfits on display. "That was Andorian silk! We have to check that place out." The security officer made a mental note of the boutique, and was confident she could lift Kaya over her shoulder and carry her there to check it out if necessary. The Alliance officer led them to a pub-like place. As soon as S'Riia stepped inside, she could see that it was busy and very involved. Alliance officers were either in hearty conversations, cheering and jeering at screens and there were even about a dozen or so towards the rear hunched over a billiards table while others were throwing darts. "Reminds me of quite a few places back on Earth," she remarked. The Alliance officer led them to a vacant table. S'Riia moved to take a seat. As introductions were being made, S'Riia went on to offer her own greetings. "S'Riia," she said volunteering her name. "I suppose I should ask for a beer that won't give me a buzz." The dark-haired waitress nodded, committing the drink to memory and waited for the others to make their beverages known as she stared around the table.

[1st Lt. Robyn Banks - Operations - Bridge, NSS Soteria] Robyn chewed the inside of her cheek while she thought about Vasser's request. Even those types of systems are difficult to access from the outside, she said slowly. If I could get over there... She hesitated. Some of their officers are visiting the station, right? So what if I replicate a Starfleet uniform and combadge and just mosey on over there as if I belong? I can plant a harmless virus that will give us a backdoor to access at least those tertiary systems, possibly more if there's enough time. If they have anyone on guard, it's not likely to be anyone who knows me, and if it is, I can scrap the whole idea. But I'll just walk on, get to an empty computer console and work my magic.
We could also transport a few small surprises aboard. Nothing to cause real damage, but the equivalent of smoke bombs. Get them running around thinking there's actual damage to the ship. Transporters are a bit of a specialty of mine, she said with fond reminiscence, despite the fact that her use of the transporter had led to her downfall. [NPC - Colonel Helena Vasser - Bridge, NSS Soteria] Vasser took a moment to heavily weigh Banks' suggestion. She understood what she was asking was difficult, but she was even more impressed with Banks' willingness and dedication to attempt to carry out her orders. Finally, the commander shook her head. "As much as I admire your commitment, you're too valuable to risk like that Banks," Vasser stated. "However, the idea of getting your aboard the Mac... that may be something we can work with."What Vasser was now considering implied a little subterfuge, but nothing that would necessarily break the rules of engagement. "If you were to go aboard the station, do you think you could clone a Fleet badge signal?" Hopefully, it was a task that was more manageable. "And one follow-up: How big of a window do you need to transport from here to the Mac?" Vasser wasn't certain if Banks understood what she was asking or not. "I need to know how big of a hole make in their defenses."

[ James Aubrey - Turbolift] James swallowed and thought for a moment. Even after what Harmon said, a little part of him still wanted to take part in the games. He was so excited to be on the bridge, surrounded by other officers and a commander, his mind racing with strategies and plans. But ... how could he say no to something real? Something that would really count? He flicked the right side of his nose with the pad of his thumb - a nervous tick - and clenched his jaw slightly. "Alright," he said. "What do you need me to do, Lieutenant Commander?" [LCDR Matthew Harmon - Turbolift]
Harmon could tell the kid was nervous. Who wouldn't be? He didn't especially enjoy sending people like James on missions like this, but he had little choice and the mission came first. "As you know we've been invited on board the Alliance station. They have had free reign on ours for some time, no doubt they've gathered plenty of intelligence on the layout of the station and its various functionalities. I don't know what we're looking for, your job is to take in whatever you can. What does their morale look like? How disciplined are they? Are the competent or well trained? How cohesive are they operating? If you see a panel removed from maintenance, have a look inside. Bundles of wires everywhere or is being repaired well? I've heard you've got an analytical brain, use it. Try and make your way to their holo-dome. My sources say you can access some systems from there and it will be harder for them to detect you from there. See what you can find in there. Rosters, manuals, anything," he explained. It would be a lot for the kid to take in but he was supposedly quite an intelligent young officer. "I have a mole in there, a human male, if you get caught obviously you're more important to me than him. So if you have to, use that information to try and barter with them. Say you were just lost and looking around, you're sorry, be nervous, tell them you don't know anything but heard Commander Harmon describe his asset as a human male," if he was caught the least he could do was unwittingly feed a little bit of misinformation to Chromar. "Now I can't send you in with much, but here's what I do have for you," he pulled a small box with contact lenses out of his pocket. "These are like contact lenses. They shouldn't notice them, if they do you couldn't undergo eye surgery for medical reasons so have to use these. If they try and take them from you, fumble, drop them on the floor and step on them. Make it look accidental," he handed them to Aubrey. "They'll record things for me so we don't need to pressure you with relying completely on your memory. It's still up to you to seek things out, however," he then took another, smaller item from his pocket. "This goes behind your bottom front teeth. If you need extraction push into it with your tongue, there's a button it'll send me a signal and I'll try and get you out." With that his hasty briefing was more or less concluded. "Unless you have some questions, go quickly get dressed into some casual civvy clothing."

Tag: Thea Baker [CMO's Quarters - USS Mac] It was likely that Thea would need to jog to Sickbay in order to work off the rather indulgent breakfast, although that was a small price to pay for the delicious food that she had consumed. In fact she finished off with a piece of the toast and kelpian jam purely because it was so addictive and just as tasty as everything else that she had ordered for the beginning of the celebrations for Isaiah's promotion. To Thea this was just the beginning and perhaps a holodeck programme for them to enjoy later. But for now that would just be an idea, depending on how the games went. When Isaiah then joked about how he wouldn't be much good on the Bridge after eating and patted his stomach, Thea grinned happy that breakfast had been a success. " I know what you mean, I might have to jog to Sickbay to burn some of it off" she quipped back, letting her mind wander for a moment, before he offered his compliments to her and the help, then offered to pour her a cup of coffee as he asked if she had gone through any additional prep with her staff for the exercise. " Thank you and I shall pass on your compliments to them" she replied, holding out her cup with a silent thanks, as she accepted the offer of coffee. " As for additional prep I have, especially trauma and multiple casualty situations. I'm thinking of asking Commander Eastman if we can use Cargo Bay 3 again as additional space so Sickbay doesn't end up crowded, not that I'm expecting many people to show up but I'd rather be prepared just in case". He then listened as Thea explained some of the preparation that she had undergone with her staff. He certainly hadn't expected anything less from Thea. He nodded as she mentioned making Cargo Bay 3 an additional space should Sickbay begin to overcrowd. "It's certainly no surprise, but it sounds like you're on top of things," Isaiah stated. He now, had to consider how he could prep his staff for all of this. There were certainly samples and equipment that needed to be secured, sensors maintained. But he could also lend some of his staff to other departments for support purposes as well. He sipped at his coffee and then exhaled. "Is this weird? he finally asked. "Preparing for a battle like this. I mean, I know it's a simulation, but... it hardly feels... natural."

Yes there had been other emergency situations since then, especially on Epsilon but that was when it all started. Although didn't want to dwell on that too much as she took an appreciative sip of the dark liquid, glad to be able to talk like this with her beloved before she had to be the professional Thea. Although when he then asked if this was weird, Thea gave him her attention, curious at his question before he explained and understood his concern regarding the simulation and why he was sharing this with her. " I get what you mean, something feels off about it and I can't explain why" she replied. " This is nothing like the simulations at the Academy and sure we're trained for this kind of thing but maybe I'm overthinking it".

[ LT(JG) Joshua Niles - Bridge, USS Mac ]The Engineering crewman on the Bridge was quick to offer ideas, but then he apologized, as though he considered himself to be too forward. And, in some circles, he might be. In fact, Niles himself was not entirely sure he approved of just how brazen he had been... but that might have been the residual attitude of commissioned superiority that had been inculcated at the Academy; since he'd arrived at his duty station, he'd taken orders from enough highly competent non-commissioned types, and had observed they tended to be at least as professional as he was (with a few minor exceptions) that he could accept their input with the same certainty he would accept that of an officer; and in some case, with even more confidence. That, and Commander Eastman was one to encourage this sort of things, and of course she was someone he respected immensely. "Mister K'Dex, while I wouldn't be willing to write off that much of the ship, not when we might need the redundant computer pathways and power conduits. But I agree we should at least relocate to the Battle Bridge. I'd be a lot more comfortable deeper in the ship going into action. Though, we should rig up some tricorders to fake our lifesigns in here, at least give them something to shoot at if they want to go for the soft-kill."Once Commander Eastman further explained the parameters of the exercise, the Tactical officer nodded. That was making things more clear to him. Of course there would be no actual sensor readings of actual damage, and the effects would be known solely within the ship as the computer would simulate weapons effects. Well, that was something they could work with. "Then, as Lieutenant Aravis and Miss Henriksen said, we will have to fake the damage, with deliberate losses in capabilities to lure them into a false sense of confidence."Frankly, it would be a lot easier if they could truly fake damage rather than just expect the other side to interpret their ship-handling. But, that in and of itself was a valuable skill to develop in its own right. "Now, in my Tactics classes, there were two things I was taught, and we need to figure out how to exploit that. The first was 'surprise is what happens when what you saw something all along and failed to recognize it', and the second was 'if you ain't cheating, you ain't trying hard enough'. So, how do we generate surprise, and how do we cheat?"And just as he finished talking, his drew his lips into a predatory parody of a smile. Oh yes, he was ready to get into it. [Main Engineering] K'Dex frowned as the Commander spoke, realizing where he had screwed up. He was thinking of the simulations at the Academy, or the internal simulations among Starfleet, where the simulation was carried by Federation software, and then regulated from a combined computer program. They wouldn't be doing that with the Nyberrites. They'd be running separate simulations, and relying on sensor data. That opened up some options, but also led to a lot less of the safety features he was used to. Either way, he'd screwed up. He heard the faint memory of a particular session focused on the idea of what to do when he screwed up cross his mind. He sent all of that to the back, breathed deep for 3 breaths, and then opened his eyes and focused on the next thing. He'd find out if he'd truly screwed up in what he did after the fact, when others could review it and bring him their criticisms, not his own. "I'd be careful with venting plasma, especially near the nacelles. Low-yield or not, it could cause problems with a misplaced shot. However, if we vented coolant, it could coincide with us dropping power levels, making it appear we are dealing with overheat problems."He considered the other words passed around. "If we were to do that, and wanted to pull a 'surprise'... It would take some calculating right now, but I could work with engineering to create a power shift program. In essence, we could simulate lifesigns, high data transfers, and power readings coming from this bridge, perhaps even fluctuating into the extremes of official safety limits for the Soverign-Class. The Mac's been upgraded to go a bit further than those limits, so it shouldn't cause much damage at all. As the battle progresses, and with damage to this fore section, we could simulated power loss, coolant leak, and whatever else seems appropriate. Then, with the 'bait' set, we could activate the program to switch to the battle bridge, and reset all systems to almost full, from shields to weapons."K'Dex considered it, realizing that he was doing exactly something he'd done before on the Ferengi ship. All too often, the Ferengi's would play dead while leaking radiation to block exact sensor readings, and then shoot off into warp to escape. This would be more difficult, especially working with only coolant as the block to sensors, and having to reactivate multiple systems instead of just the warp drive. But, he had an actual team of trained engineers to work out specifics. "The only other idea's I have coming to mind is to leak question substances and parts. Things that could lead them to assume we have technology we couldn't possibly have. Science I think would have to see what we have in storage that might work, if anything. Or create a chemical for an 'advanced' weapon coolant that we could leak instead of standard." So much of what he'd learned with the Ferengi had been misdirection, confusion, or outright lies. Of course, it annoyed the Ferengi when he would as an engineer tell them directly what they absolutely had to have, since they assumed everyone else was exaggerating too. But a few times of breaking down had eased that annoyance. But now, now K'Dex was working within the Federation. Rules, boundaries, controls. His posting here was so different from his last. Damage control was part of everyone's duties, because it was so, so much of the frontier out here. He cursed himself silently with an annoyed flick of his tail. His concentration had continued to be abysmal today. Officer. Decisions. Suggestions. Suggestions... He almost sent a short message to the officer on duty in Engineering describing the current predicament, and searching for anything from the other Engineers there, but stopped short as he remembered the communications blackout. Perhaps he could send the message, encrypted, from the Battle Bridge. Less chance of interception. He deleted the message, and the saved draft, for now. [ Lt, jg. Aravis - Main Bridge] Aravis conceded the point of the dangers of venting plasma with a nod while continuing to consider the other ideas the officers were suggesting. So, really the biggest thing we have to do is make sure our computer is showing them more damage than we actually have. A couple of questions: will the computer automatically shut down or reduce power to systems that it reads as damaged? If so, we're going to have to trick our own computer as well as theirs. Second, for my own purposes of piloting, are we going to be limited to impulse or low warp speeds? It will make a difference in the maneuvers I can use.The Ba'ku chewed her lip and considered. I could pre-program a few ship movements based on parameters it receives from the computer on our 'damage'. Some suggestions veered into diplomatically iffy territory, however. She also thought there were hints of Lt. We don't want to do anything particularly suspicious, or hit too far below the belt, because we don't want a diplomatic incident," she noted, aware that she was throwing cold water on their cleverness. However, what maybe could work, Mr. K'Dex, would be for us to fake a coolant that, on first glance, seems sophisticated and novel, but when you really look at it properly, turns out to be either implausible or just unimpressive. Something that won't draw much long-term intrigue. Maybe Mr. Quinn could have some ideas," she added, throwing in a hook to revive the Caitian's idea. "That being said, we also need to anticipate what the Nyberrites might try to do. For Vasser, this is a chance to get a little victory, to blow a raspberry at us. It's probably the only opportunity she'll get to face off against her former employer. What do we think she will do?"Judy wasn't going to divulge the fact that Vasser had lobbied, unsuccessfully, for command of their duty station. That would surely influence her thinking, but again, Judy didn't feel the stakes were high enough to merit breaking confidence, not where gossip moved at a breakneck pace.

[NPC - 2nd Lieutenant Neema - Docking Port, Plaza Level, Starbase Sigma 4] Neema led the group of Starfleet visitors through the Plaza.
"This place is really fascinating," S'Riia remarked. [ PO2 Bav Th'cherreq - Plaza Level ] Bav followed the small group to the bar, immediately sitting down and making himself comfortable. His posture was terrible, but who cares? He spent his whole day behind a desk most days. "Andorian silk is overrated," he blurted out in his gruff tone before picking up the drinks menu. When the Nyberrite woman, Neema introduced Kaya he was disgusted as she referred to the group, and thus Bav as her 'friends'. I don't even know you. "I'm Bav," he said without taking his eyes of the menu. "I'll have some Andorian ale." [ P02 Kaya Som | Kirby's, Sigma 4 ]S'Riia and the ever-sour Bav fell in with Kaya and their Alliance tour guide. As Neema led them through the huge station, Kaya unzipped her uniform jacket and rolled up her sleeves. The gloom of her troubles on the Mac seemed to fade away in the change of scenery. The new places, new people, and nothing to do - it was all she needed. S'Riia was being overly cheery and Kaya knew why - at least she wasn't asking questions. Time for some sweet distraction. "Something strong," was Kaya's drink order, delivered with a new smile. "And something crunchy. And spicy?" (It was a galactic truth that all species and all cultures knew the value of crunchiness and spiciness.) "So I have an observation," Kaya began with Neema. "All this hospitality and the warm welcome stands in marked contrast to the posturing and war games about to commence, don't you think?" Tag: Matthew Harmon (Bav), Isaiah Quinn (S'Riia, Neema)

Things that'll happen quicker than I could do manually - stutters in maneuvers, things like that. And then I can 'correct' them. Just lend a sense of reality and unexpectedness.[Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) & Ens. Mabel Henriksen - Bridge, USS Mac]Judy was, mostly, encouraged by the initiative and creativity of the crew around her. That would surely influence her thinking, but again, Judy didn't feel the stakes were high enough to merit breaking confidence, not where gossip moved at a breakneck pace. [ LT(JG) Joshua Niles - Bridge, USS Mac ]The discussion was starting to go places that might be exploitable, but Commander Eastman had to put up some barriers as to how things would proceed. Of course, they would have to fight below their real capacity, going no higher than could be found through various open sources like Janes Federation Starships, just as he had suggested. But, there were also a lot of other constraints she was bringing forward. Like not angering them with being too underhanded. Which, frankly, could very well be another consideration to hide their real capabilities. "Ma'am, not showing our true capabilities and refraining from using any unconventional hardware tweaks was pretty obvious. And, I can see how using any dirty tricks we might have could very well tip our hand, plus annoy the Nyberrites more than we'd. So that means we pretty much have to stick to standard doctrine and not get too creative." If anything, Niles sounded a little bit doubtful. To deliberately restrict their hardware capabilities would already hamper them, but to have to rely strictly on established doctrine would not just be tying one hand behind their backs, it would also be breaking one of their legs. So, they had to think, all right. "Colonel Vasser knows our playbook, would have a good idea of the Mac's capabilities, and doesn't have the same ethical guidelines we do. If I was her..." The Lieutenant was starting to consider options that would be open to the Nyberrites that Starfleet could not engage in, not as representatives of the Federation who had a degree of ethics and reputation to uphold. But mercenaries had no such compunctions... "If I was her, I'd be considering espionage and sabotage. We should quietly raise the internal security level, increase patrols, increase scans, and secure all our computers and terminals. I'd suggest a communications lockdown and to jam all frequencies, including our own commbadges for the time being; communications only through wall panels will be less flexible, but it is hard-line, can't be tapped or intercepted without us knowing. Call it... running an internal security exercise at the same time."

[CMO's Quarters] " It's something I've always liked to do, especially with some of the situations I've been in and not wanting to be caught out and not have everything to hand" Thea explained, as she held the warm mug in her hands and thought back to her medical school days and the attack on Earth. " This is nothing like the simulations at the Academy and sure we're trained for this kind of thing but maybe I'm overthinking it".[Lt. Isaiah Quinn - CMO's quarters, USS Mac] As usual, Isaiah was impressed with Thea's forethought. It was a testament to her experience and her skill as a capable officer. He made a mental note to pay even more attention, understanding that there was a lot he could learn from her in that regard as well. It seemed to be the best of both worlds, all rolled up into one. As the conversation turned to what was abnormal about this exercise, Isaiah gave it some serious thought. He agreed with Thea that it was nothing like the simulations that they'd run in the Academy. It certainly felt different from what they were trained for. He took a deep breath. He knew that it was an exercise to prepare for possible confrontation with the Tholians, but somehow the Tholians were a far distant thought. "Maybe it's more of the who, than the what," Isaiah suggested. "These people in the Nyberrite Alliance... there's a lot of them that we actually served with."He thought of his own connections to the Alliance. It certainly wasn't something that he advertised much, but he did have them. "We may have the larger ship... more fire power," Isaiah began, "but I know from experience, Colonel Vasser is a capable commander. It'd be a mistake to take her and her crew lightly." Isaiah only hoped it was advice that others aboard the ship would heed.

[PO2 Bav Th'cherreq - Plaza Level]Bav followed the small group to the bar, immediately sitting down and making himself comfortable. His posture was terrible, but who cares? He spent his whole day behind a desk most days. "Andorian silk is overrated," he blurted out in his gruff tone before picking up the drinks menu. [NPC - 2nd Lieutenant Neema - Docking Port, Plaza Level, Starbase Sigma 4] The waitress held up her hand, having Neema's drink committed to memory. As she recited it, the young blonde nodded jovially. "A Shirley Temple, that's right! And please... make it extra red. Thank you!" As the server finished getting everyone's drink orders, she disappeared to go collect them. That allowed the opportunity for the conversation between quartet that had arrived. Neema thought for a moment over Kaya's question, but didn't seem perplexed by it at all. "But... it's just a joint exercise," Neema pointed out, still smiling. "Both Starfleet and the Alliance are participating in the name of partnership in response to the Tholian threat in this region. If anything, it's a show of friendship. I choose to believe that our hospitality reflects that!" Neema seemed to pause and ponder for a moment. "After all, there hasn't been an official conflict between the Alliance and the Federation. And a number of people that serve the Nyberrite Alliance are Federation citizens. I don't think anyone has renounced their statehood." Neema shrugged her shoulders. "We're just... welcoming our neighbors."However, she began to wonder if she had somehow offended them to give them such an impression. Trills were tricky. She had no idea if this woman was joined, and how many lifetimes were likely scrutinzing her. "Have we offended you in some way? If so, I sincerely apologize on behalf of the Alliance."

[NPC - PO1 S'Riia - Docking Port, Starbase Sigma 4] If S'Riia could, she would have certainly have slapped the Andorian in the back of his head. In part for the comment about the Andorian silk. Sure, he may be Andorian, but he had no idea how the fabric felt on her body in the few occasions she got to wear any. Besides, this was supposed to a moment for them to actually undulge and have fun. Of course, one wouldn't be able to tell from her buzz-less choice of drink It certainly didn't stop Bav who opted for an Andorian ale, nor Kaya who chose something vague... but strong. Now, at their server's mercy, the woman gave a slight smirk. The Caitian's ears twitched a bit as Kaya ordered something crunchy and spicy. "Ooh... that sounds adventurous," S'Riia said. "Perhaps enough for the whole table then?" S'Riia almost regretted the fact that it seemed to include Bav by default, but she didn't want to be openly rude, when he was doing quite well at that on his own. S'Riia overheard Kaya's question to Neema, and it was a good one. She alllowed the Nyberrite junior negotiator to respond before turning towards Bav. "She hasn't insulted us at all," S'Riia said offering her opinion. "Has she, Bav?" If anyone was going to disagree it was him. Hopefully, her tone would convince him to simply agree. Still, if anyone was going to be difficult.

Tags K'Dex Ozu Saya (Aravis) Judith Eastman [Bridge, USS Mac] K'Dex nodded as the discussion continued. He felt a little lost, as he had seriously not been up to date on the Nyberrite issue. He found himself relying more and more on his short years with the Ferengi, they being the most off the wall species he'd interacted with, at first. Eventually he found their culture not totally unsettling, but quite different. But, a fair portion of what the Ferengi did was cheat, lie, and break most of the rules that applied to Engineering, let alone tactics or anything else. He took the Commander's curbing of his suggestion in stride, since it mostly lined up with what he had intended anyway. "Oh, I didn't mean anything particularly scary for them, just confusing. I think my favorite one time was mixing an alcohol, a lubricant, and an adhesive, which we had leaking from an empty container in a debris field." He turned to the woman at the helm. "We can set the restrictions to whatever you'd prefer, in regards to faking power loss. The actual simulation damage we take will affect the systems, but if we are faking damage, at worst you'd get a slight delay to initiate the faked loss. Unless you'd prefer we lock the fake damage to the system, in which case it might be more believable, but that will make it take slightly longer to come out of the faked damage, as we'd have to reset the system. If you feel you can fake the effects yourself and prefer the flexibility to adjust on the fly, that can be arranged just as easily." He felt an ear flick once, before continuing to the bridge as a whole. "Speaking of which, we could consider various jettisonables. If we save a few probes, those can usually be configured for a wide variety of strange phenomona. Again, Science would be better at hand for some more obscure effects. As far as defending... the tactical officer is right. Hardline communications, increased internal sensors. I don't know that they'd go so far as to transport anything, but a scrambler set for most of the typical transporter frequencies might not be exaggerated. It'd be difficult to create something for shipwide, but possibly a few small ones could be set up out of various parts or systems for critical areas. Also, we could do the reverse possibly just as well. If we can create the right opportunity, we could beam a probe onto their hull, have it set for a high penetration signal, and relay some information from their own ship. It may not end up being much, dependent on the probe, their hull, and just the environment in general." K'Dex shrugged, letting his brain expand on possibilities it was coming up with. He felt more of an officer now, attempting a brainstorm. No real propriety to the idea's coming out of his head, but just a free flow. However, he was coming up against a few walls of possibilities. Seeking inspiration, he browsed various, general files on his console. He stopped short at one obscure line of the general ship specifications. He took on a look of concentration, and pulled up 3 other files, and then a 4th, glancing through them for what he was looking for. K'Dex felt a smirk come across him. "If we have time, we could maybe rig up a weird concept. In short, we could attempt to program a few of the workerbees for 'repair' duties, but set the opposing ship as the home dock. They are equipped with short plasma cutters and electrical probes. It wouldn't do much, unless we overloaded the electrical probes. The plasma cutters might cut through a layer of various armor plates, not much more. But if they were set to something, say the main deflector, it could have unusual effects. Of course, we might lose them as well, and it'd take some figuring to configure them to the opposing ship, let alone to get them past the shields. If we placed that relay probe near the main deflector though, it might just be able to send us enough of the shield frequencies to get the chopperbees through. I doubt we have time for anywhere near all that though." He said, ending on a wistful note for his bizarre mutation of proper Federation equipment.

Tag: Thea Baker [CMO's Quarters - USS Mac] Even if Isaiah wasn't a DH, this type of conversation was something that they could freely discuss with one another, sharing their fears, concerns as well as agreeing or disagreeing where necessary. There was something about having the comfort and reassurance, as they discussed matters that not only affected them but for the crew as a whole. Besides it was rare for them to argue or have a different opinion but that didn't meant that she didn't value what he had to say even if they did. However did feel some relief that she wasn't completely overthinking this situation or the exercise itself, when Isaiah suggested that it was maybe more to do with the who rather than the what and how there was a lot of people in the Alliance that they had served with. It felt like a proverbial shield had dropped as it was something she hadn't considered, but now it had been suggested, perhaps that was it and why it hadn't sat right with her, since finding out about the exercise with the NA. " Maybe it is and something that I hadn't thought of until now. I don't know anyone who has gone over to them personally but you're right, we're essentially going up against our own people or the majority of them at least".Okay they were no longer part of the fleet but they had been and that never left those who remained, especially after the war and it didn't make her feel any better about the whole thing. However it was the mention of Colonel Vasser that had Thea set her coffee mug down as Isaiah spoke about how they had the bigger ship, more firepower but not to underestimate the Colonel and her crew or take them lightly. It was clear to the Doctor that Isaiah knew more about Vasser and would take his warning seriously, because they couldn't get to complacent or expect to succeed if they didn't her seriously. " I agree we can't, because I don't want us to get to complacent with this as we don't know what she might do, especially if she has Fleet knowledge ... I just think this is turning out to be a bad idea but we'll see what happens".

[ P02 Kaya Som | Kirby's, Sigma 4 ]S'Riia and the ever-sour Bav fell in with Kaya and their Alliance tour guide. "All this hospitality and the warm welcome stands in marked contrast to the posturing and war games about to commence, don't you think?" [NPC - 2nd Lieutenant Neema - Docking Port, Plaza Level, Starbase Sigma 4] The waitress held up her hand, having Neema's drink committed to memory. If so, I sincerely apologize on behalf of the Alliance."[NPC - PO1 S'Riia - Docking Port, Starbase Sigma 4] If S'Riia could, she would have certainly have slapped the Andorian in the back of his head. [ PO2 Bav Th'cherreq - Plaza Level] Bav took a hefty drink of his ale, not really listening to the conversation. It was all rather boring. "What?" Bav asked when unfortunately, S'Riia wasn't content to leave Bav alone to his thoughts and decided to ask for her input. Her mistake. "It's a little insulting the Alliance thinks it's anything important, anything that should be taken seriously. Only reason Starfleet cares about what you do out here is because Starfleet doesn't care about this region enough to put many resources here. A bit insulting you take that to mean you're our peers." He didn't really care, in fact he was still weighing up joining. It's possible the Alliance would be more tolerable than Starfleet. Though seemingly directed at the Alliance his actual aim was to annoy S'Riia for dragging him into this.

Tag: Ozu Saya (1st Lt. Banks) [ 1st Lt. Robyn Banks - Operations - Bridge, NSS Soteria] A couple of seconds would do, but Colonel, I really think it would work better for me to get aboard before the fight begins. They won't be at high alert, and I should be able to just walk aboard, even if there's security at the airlock. In an ensign's uniform, with a fake combadge, I can just tell them that I forgot something in my quarters. I actually think no comm signal would be better than an extra one. Statistically, Starfleet crews are mostly human, so I'd just be one more human life sign that maybe lost their combadge if they get suspicious. If I can get in quickly and place the computer worm, I should be able to walk right back off again. Then, from here, I can mess with minor systems during the games.Robyn could picture the scene. Oh! she said suddenly. Not an ensign, a crewman. Almost invisible, but often work in sensitive areas. If there's security at the airlock, they won't be surprised that they don't recognize me, and I can grab a tool kit as soon as I get over there as cover. I can fake engineering for a little while. Yes, that would work quite well; she'd just vanish into the background as a worker-bee. Robyn waited hopefully for Vasser's approval.

[...] [ PO2 Kaya Som | Kirby's, Plaza, Sigma 4 ]Kaya had always been blunt and while she didn't mean to start shit (most of the time) sometimes it was a natural consequence. Neema tried to explain, S'Riia tried to keep peace, and Bav wasted no words in stirring the pot. "Damn, Bav, don't hold back now," Kaya said with a lopsided grin. Then she turned to Neema. "I'm just saying what goes on up there doesn't always reflect what goes on down here. Everyone's smiling on the Mac but, uh, Alliance doesn't have many fans aboard." She shrugged and smiled. "I, for one, am happy for the break." The server returned with a tray. Something bright red for Neema, a tall glass of ice-blue ale for Bav, a golden lager of some kind for S'Riia, and something short and brown for Kaya. In a large bowl, to qualify for crunchy/spicy were what looked to be cayanne-red insect husks roasted to perfection (or replicated to look that way). Kaya lifted her glass in short toast. "To neighbors, then." Tag: Isaiah Quinn (Neema & S'Riia), Matthew Harmon (Bav)
