[ James Aubrey - Turbolift] James swallowed and thought for a moment. Even after what Harmon said, a little part of him still wanted to take part in the games. He was so excited to be on the bridge, surrounded by other officers and a commander, his mind racing with strategies and plans. But ... how could he say no to something real? Something that would really count? He flicked the right side of his nose with the pad of his thumb - a nervous tick - and clenched his jaw slightly. "Alright," he said. "What do you need me to do, Lieutenant Commander?" [LCDR Matthew Harmon - Turbolift]
Harmon could tell the kid was nervous. Who wouldn't be? He didn't especially enjoy sending people like James on missions like this, but he had little choice and the mission came first. "As you know we've been invited on board the Alliance station. They have had free reign on ours for some time, no doubt they've gathered plenty of intelligence on the layout of the station and its various functionalities. I don't know what we're looking for, your job is to take in whatever you can. What does their morale look like? How disciplined are they? Are the competent or well trained? How cohesive are they operating? If you see a panel removed from maintenance, have a look inside. Bundles of wires everywhere or is being repaired well? I've heard you've got an analytical brain, use it. Try and make your way to their holo-dome. My sources say you can access some systems from there and it will be harder for them to detect you from there. See what you can find in there. Rosters, manuals, anything," he explained. It would be a lot for the kid to take in but he was supposedly quite an intelligent young officer. "I have a mole in there, a human male, if you get caught obviously you're more important to me than him. So if you have to, use that information to try and barter with them. Say you were just lost and looking around, you're sorry, be nervous, tell them you don't know anything but heard Commander Harmon describe his asset as a human male," if he was caught the least he could do was unwittingly feed a little bit of misinformation to Chromar. "Now I can't send you in with much, but here's what I do have for you," he pulled a small box with contact lenses out of his pocket. "These are like contact lenses. They shouldn't notice them, if they do you couldn't undergo eye surgery for medical reasons so have to use these. If they try and take them from you, fumble, drop them on the floor and step on them. Make it look accidental," he handed them to Aubrey. "They'll record things for me so we don't need to pressure you with relying completely on your memory. It's still up to you to seek things out, however," he then took another, smaller item from his pocket. "This goes behind your bottom front teeth. If you need extraction push into it with your tongue, there's a button it'll send me a signal and I'll try and get you out." With that his hasty briefing was more or less concluded. "Unless you have some questions, go quickly get dressed into some casual civvy clothing."
Tag: James Aubrey [ James Aubrey - Turbolift --> Personal Quarters --> Docking Port] James listened intently, trying to ignore how intimidated he was by the sudden change the course of this day had taken. Luckily, his assignment seemed simple enough - he wasn't sure how he would make it to their holo-dome, but he was confident he could figure anything out. Suddenly, James was being handed technology he didn't even know existed. He nodded as Harmon explained what they did, sliding the smaller item behind his teeth and awkwardly popping the contact lenses in his eyes. He blinked a few times, then cleared his throat. "Okay," he said. "I'm ready." He swallowed. Soon enough, the Turbolift came to a stop. James nodded one final time at Harmon, then speed walked to his quarters. He slipped out of his uniform with a great deal of disappointment - he had been so excited to put it on that morning - and quickly pulled on some basic looking civvie clothes. He wore a black, long sleeved shirt under a brown vest, complete with black slacks and simple boots. After a quick look in the mirror, he left his room. It was a bit of a walk, but after several minutes he arrived at the docking port between the Mac and Starbase Sigma 4. He swallowed hard and boarded the station, hoping he would accomplish the tasks he had been given.

With the young ensign off on his mission, Harmon returned to the bridge arriving just as K'Dex finished giving his ideas. Harmon again took one of the centre chairs next to Eastman. [ LT(JG) Joshua Niles - Bridge, USS Mac ]The discussion was starting to go places that might be exploitable, but Commander Eastman had to put up some barriers as to how things would proceed. Of course, they would have to fight below their real capacity, going no higher than could be found through various open sources like Janes Federation Starships, just as he had suggested. But, there were also a lot of other constraints she was bringing forward. Like not angering them with being too underhanded. Which, frankly, could very well be another consideration to hide their real capabilities. "Ma'am, not showing our true capabilities and refraining from using any unconventional hardware tweaks was pretty obvious. And, I can see how using any dirty tricks we might have could very well tip our hand, plus annoy the Nyberrites more than we'd. So that means we pretty much have to stick to standard doctrine and not get too creative." If anything, Niles sounded a little bit doubtful. To deliberately restrict their hardware capabilities would already hamper them, but to have to rely strictly on established doctrine would not just be tying one hand behind their backs, it would also be breaking one of their legs. So, they had to think, all right. "Colonel Vasser knows our playbook, would have a good idea of the Mac's capabilities, and doesn't have the same ethical guidelines we do. If I was her..." The Lieutenant was starting to consider options that would be open to the Nyberrites that Starfleet could not engage in, not as representatives of the Federation who had a degree of ethics and reputation to uphold. But mercenaries had no such compunctions... "If I was her, I'd be considering espionage and sabotage. We should quietly raise the internal security level, increase patrols, increase scans, and secure all our computers and terminals. I'd suggest a communications lockdown and to jam all frequencies, including our own commbadges for the time being; communications only through wall panels will be less flexible, but it is hard-line, can't be tapped or intercepted without us knowing. Call it... running an internal security exercise at the same time." [Bridge, USS Mac] K'Dex nodded as the discussion continued. He felt a little lost, as he had seriously not been up to date on the Nyberrite issue. He found himself relying more and more on his short years with the Ferengi, they being the most off the wall species he'd interacted with, at first. Eventually he found their culture not totally unsettling, but quite different. But, a fair portion of what the Ferengi did was cheat, lie, and break most of the rules that applied to Engineering, let alone tactics or anything else. He took the Commander's curbing of his suggestion in stride, since it mostly lined up with what he had intended anyway. "Oh, I didn't mean anything particularly scary for them, just confusing. I think my favorite one time was mixing an alcohol, a lubricant, and an adhesive, which we had leaking from an empty container in a debris field." He turned to the woman at the helm. "We can set the restrictions to whatever you'd prefer, in regards to faking power loss. The actual simulation damage we take will affect the systems, but if we are faking damage, at worst you'd get a slight delay to initiate the faked loss. Unless you'd prefer we lock the fake damage to the system, in which case it might be more believable, but that will make it take slightly longer to come out of the faked damage, as we'd have to reset the system. If you feel you can fake the effects yourself and prefer the flexibility to adjust on the fly, that can be arranged just as easily." He felt an ear flick once, before continuing to the bridge as a whole. "Speaking of which, we could consider various jettisonables. If we save a few probes, those can usually be configured for a wide variety of strange phenomona. Again, Science would be better at hand for some more obscure effects. As far as defending... the tactical officer is right. Hardline communications, increased internal sensors. I don't know that they'd go so far as to transport anything, but a scrambler set for most of the typical transporter frequencies might not be exaggerated. It'd be difficult to create something for shipwide, but possibly a few small ones could be set up out of various parts or systems for critical areas. Also, we could do the reverse possibly just as well. If we can create the right opportunity, we could beam a probe onto their hull, have it set for a high penetration signal, and relay some information from their own ship. It may not end up being much, dependent on the probe, their hull, and just the environment in general." K'Dex shrugged, letting his brain expand on possibilities it was coming up with. He felt more of an officer now, attempting a brainstorm. No real propriety to the idea's coming out of his head, but just a free flow. However, he was coming up against a few walls of possibilities. Seeking inspiration, he browsed various, general files on his console. He stopped short at one obscure line of the general ship specifications. He took on a look of concentration, and pulled up 3 other files, and then a 4th, glancing through them for what he was looking for. K'Dex felt a smirk come across him. "If we have time, we could maybe rig up a weird concept. In short, we could attempt to program a few of the workerbees for 'repair' duties, but set the opposing ship as the home dock. They are equipped with short plasma cutters and electrical probes. It wouldn't do much, unless we overloaded the electrical probes. The plasma cutters might cut through a layer of various armor plates, not much more. But if they were set to something, say the main deflector, it could have unusual effects. Of course, we might lose them as well, and it'd take some figuring to configure them to the opposing ship, let alone to get them past the shields. If we placed that relay probe near the main deflector though, it might just be able to send us enough of the shield frequencies to get the chopperbees through. I doubt we have time for anywhere near all that though." He said, ending on a wistful note for his bizarre mutation of proper Federation equipment. [Cmdr. Judith Eastman(-Williams) & Ens. Mabel Henriksen - Bridge, USS Mac]Mabel turned to Aravis, aware that her boss had neglected to answer the helmswoman. "Power automatically gets throttled based on the state of the grid, but just about everything can be manually overridden," she explained. Judy, meanwhile, found herself very engaged by K'Dex's ideas. Yes, she could see a lot of potential in this kid and his ideas. "I think we'll have to check whether the simulation can account for that, but even if not, we can still use the workbees for something. Reverse the polarity of something or other, put some mild pressure on their nacelles. All we'd need to do is hit their shields hard enough to get in," she assessed. "Mabel, why don't you check if what Mr. K'Dex suggests can be simulated?"Mabel dutifully began to scroll through the parameters. With that, Judy turned her attention to Mr. Niles. "From what you say, young man, you think Vasser might try a real infiltration, which means we need to worry about our real security and counterintelligence affairs. I don't want to lock down all our commbadges, since we have so many hands already tied behind our backs, but if we can direct our commbadge signals to run through the nearest panels, maybe that could be good enough. I'll leave you and Mr. Harmon to deal with the details," she instructed. She saw many reasons to mistrust Helena Vasser, but within limits. She'd hedge that bet, but not too far. She did not address his statement about sticking to standard doctrine directly, hoping that by encouraging K'Dex, she was demonstrating that louder than words could. "Now, I'm going to get Mr. Quinn up here. He served under her before she left the fleet."=A= "Eastman to Quinn. Could you come over to the Bridge? We need your expertise," =A= she invited the young man over, framing it as a request, not an order, as she usually did.

[NPC - Nick Dixon - Docking Ring, Starbase Sigma 4]Nicholas "Nick" Dixon was a human, but he wasn't in the Federation's column, nor was he a devotee of the Nyberrite Alliance; he was his own man. His primary business was in secondhand starships (a business that had started out as a used shuttle dealership), but he also dealt in other commodities, including that most lucrative commodity of all: information. He'd even been known to cut a generous deal (by his standards) to those who gave him particularly good dirt. A middle-aged human with prominent jowls, Dixon did not outwardly inspire trust. With a tailored dark-blue suit, he appeared put together and well-off, but not particularly dapper. He had a well-off air about him, but not of the posh variety. Nick saw a young man disembark from the Federation ship, dressed in civilian attire. Truth be told, he was surprised to see Eastman, cautious as she was, let any of her crew on here, but doubly so at the sight of a civilian. While hardly timid, the Starfleet commander was (from what Nick had heard) not nearly as bold (or as ambitious, for that matter) as Helena Vasser. "Hello there," Nick addressed the young civilian.

[CMO's Quarters - USS Mac] [...] It felt like a proverbial shield had dropped as it was something she hadn't considered, but now it had been suggested, perhaps that was it and why it hadn't sat right with her, since finding out about the exercise with the NA. " Maybe it is and something that I hadn't thought of until now. I don't know anyone who has gone over to them personally but you're right, we're essentially going up against our own people or the majority of them at least".[...] " I agree we can't, because I don't want us to get to complacent with this as we don't know what she might do, especially if she has Fleet knowledge ... I just think this is turning out to be a bad idea but we'll see what happens".[Lt. Isaiah Quinn - CMO's Quarters, USS Mac] In a number of ways, Isaiah felt that Thea was lucky that she didn't know anyone personally that had gone over to the Nyberrite Alliance. He had done his best to keep an open mind. He had yet to see any concrete evidence that they were working contrary to the Federation. Not to mention, it was difficult to think of Colonel Vasser as someone that would do the Federation harm. Granted, she was tenacious... fierce, but she had never done anything that would cause him to question her morals. Perhaps that was why this felt so strange to him. Thea seemed to agree that it was best not to take Vasser lightly. It was true that she had Fleet knowledge, and she studied some of the best captains. She always remarked that there was no such thing as a no-win situation if you focused on making it a no-loss scenario instead. Somehow, he saw the phrase as something more than semantics. "It's just a training exercise," Isaiah commented, trying to convince Thea as well as himself. "And it was conceived on the merits that ultimately we'd be working alongside the Alliance to keep the peace where the Tholians are concerned. Let's focus on positives."The sudden sound of Commander Eastman summoning him to the Bridge caught Isaiah by surprise. Had he overshot his expected arrival time to the Bridge. "Right away, Commander. Quinn out." He looked over at Thea almost wondering if she had any idea why he had been called. "Well, I guess I better get up there."He exhaled as he started to rise from his seat. He had no idea exactly where Thea was going, but she had stated that she needed to get to Sickbay. He rounded the table to move closer to her, and leaned over to give her a soft kiss on the cheek. "Thank you again." Looking at all that was left, he turned back to Thea. "If you think it can hold for a bit, I can try to help you clean up after the simulation. Otherwise, I will definitely make it up to you." Another brief parting kiss, and the newly minted Science Chief was on his way. Unaware of how urgent the summons was, he moved towards the door and began to make his way to the Bridge. After a brief ride in the turbolift, Lieutenant Quinn stepped onto the Bridge as the lift doors parted. Stepping onto the deck, it was out of habit that his eyes moved towards the Science station. What he saw, or rather didn't see, was Ensign Aubrey, who should have been on duty. Perhaps a mystery for another time. He moved about the Bridge, moving into Eastman's line of sight. "How can I be of help, ma'am?" he asked, unaware of the topic that had been broached prior to his arrival. Though if he had to guess, it definitely had something to do with upcoming training exercise.

[PO2 Bav Th'cherreq - Plaza Level] Bav took a hefty drink of his ale, not really listening to the conversation. It was all rather boring. "What?" Bav asked when unfortunately, S'Riia wasn't content to leave Bav alone to his thoughts and decided to ask for her input. Her mistake. "It's a little insulting the Alliance thinks it's anything important, anything that should be taken seriously. Only reason Starfleet cares about what you do out here is because Starfleet doesn't care about this region enough to put many resources here. A bit insulting you take that to mean you're our peers." He didn't really care, in fact he was still weighing up joining. It's possible the Alliance would be more tolerable than Starfleet. Though seemingly directed at the Alliance his actual aim was to annoy S'Riia for dragging him into this. [ PO2 Kaya Som | Kirby's, Plaza, Sigma 4 ]Kaya had always been blunt and while she didn't mean to start shit (most of the time) sometimes it was a natural consequence. Neema tried to explain, S'Riia tried to keep peace, and Bav wasted no words in stirring the pot. "Damn, Bav, don't hold back now," Kaya said with a lopsided grin. Then she turned to Neema. "I'm just saying what goes on up there doesn't always reflect what goes on down here. Everyone's smiling on the Mac but, uh, Alliance doesn't have many fans aboard." She shrugged and smiled. "I, for one, am happy for the break." The server returned with a tray. Something bright red for Neema, a tall glass of ice-blue ale for Bav, a golden lager of some kind for S'Riia, and something short and brown for Kaya. In a large bowl, to qualify for crunchy/spicy were what looked to be cayanne-red insect husks roasted to perfection (or replicated to look that way). Kaya lifted her glass in short toast. "To neighbors, then." [NPC - 2nd Lieutenant Neema - Docking Port, Plaza Level, Starbase Sigma 4] Neema was hardly prepared for the lashing she received from Bav in the form of an impromptu reality check. She knew that people had an unfavorable view of the Alliance, but even she hadn't expected the Andorian to be so vocal about it. She started to speak, but wasn't really sure how to rebut. The last thing she wanted to do was engage a guest to the station with an actual argument. It was then that Kaya Som spoke, winning the attention of the young blonde. The Trill didn't dispute Bav's words, but she did offer Neema a hint of hope that not everyone held the same dim view of the Alliance. Her spirits were lifted about the same time as the server returned with the drinks. Neema eagerly took hold of her glass. It's mere presence caused the cloud that had hung over her to recede almost immediately. She brought the straw to her lips and quickly began to sip, closing her eyes as she savored every drop. When she finally opened her eyes, her mouth still picking apart the colored flavor, Neema realized the food that had been brought. "Oh my, these are my favorite! You will absolutely adore them!" Neema said. It took a great deal of restraint not to just take hold of several of the crunchy treats. Her eyes surveyed each of them, before returning to Bav. "Are you happy? You seem grumpy? People typically feel grumpy if they feel... unappreciated and over-looked."She then looked towards Kaya. "People would benefit greatly from listening to your point of view," she said. "Would that make you happier?" Neema waved off the moment. "I mean... these will make you happy. Try one!" she gestured towards the red-hued ambrosia. Neema's head then turned towards S'Riia. Her brow furrowed. She didn't say anything, but after staring at S'Riia a few moments, began to avert her eyes back to the entire table, attempting to avoid the Caitians' eyes.
[NPC - PO1 S'Riia - Docking Port, Starbase Sigma 4] That bastard! He knew the damned protocols. Why he chose to act like an ass, S'Riia had yet to figure out. Were all intelligence officers such jerks? Her mind briefly flashed back to one of her recurring dreams. The Caitian was thankful for her fur, lest her blushing would have been obvious. Her eyes noticed Neema staring at her. Though, when S'Riia turned her eyes on to her, she seemed to do a bang up job of avoiding S'Riia. The security officer waved off Neema's odd behavior. She took the large lager into her hand and sipped at it. She exhaled and nodded approvingly. With one hand still on the mug, she finally glared back towards Bav. "You're a real piece of work, Bav," S'Riia commented. "You know, it wise not to antagonize your hostess. Makes it all too easy for them to walk you right out of an airlock."

[1st Lt. Robyn Banks - Operations - Bridge, NSS Soteria] A couple of seconds would do, but Colonel, I really think it would work better for me to get aboard before the fight begins. They won't be at high alert, and I should be able to just walk aboard, even if there's security at the airlock. In an ensign's uniform, with a fake combadge, I can just tell them that I forgot something in my quarters. I actually think no comm signal would be better than an extra one. Statistically, Starfleet crews are mostly human, so I'd just be one more human life sign that maybe lost their combadge if they get suspicious. If I can get in quickly and place the computer worm, I should be able to walk right back off again. Then, from here, I can mess with minor systems during the games.Robyn could picture the scene. Oh! she said suddenly. Not an ensign, a crewman. Almost invisible, but often work in sensitive areas. If there's security at the airlock, they won't be surprised that they don't recognize me, and I can grab a tool kit as soon as I get over there as cover. I can fake engineering for a little while. Yes, that would work quite well; she'd just vanish into the background as a worker-bee. Robyn waited hopefully for Vasser's approval. [NPC - Colonel Helena Vasser - Bridge, NSS Soteria] Vasser weighed the situation quite heavily. She didn't like the idea of her officer infiltrating a Federation starship, but the opportunity to put the crew of the Mac to the test was quite appealing. It wasn't as if this was an attempt to gain actual intelligence. Just a temporary reallocation of resources. It was actually an opportunity to point out some actual breaches in security that the Mac had. Better to learn at the hands of a friend than a foe. Vasser exhaled as she finally said the word. "Get it done, and do so quickly," Vasser stated. "First sign of trouble, you're done... and you're out." Vasser stood up and stepped aside, granting the woman she needed to vacate her post. "Be swift... and above all else, be careful." Vasser didn't say much more, hoping this would go off without incident. Naturally, Vasser felt completely responsible for Robyn's safety. It was always her opinion, that above all else, the safety of her crew was paramount.

[CMO's Quarters - USS Mac] Thea appreciated Isaiah's attempt to convince them both that this was just a training exercise and that they should probably not read to much into it, despite their shared concerns over the impending simulated battle. Besides he was right again in terms of them focusing on the positives rather than the negatives that had been brought up, as they had to think of the bigger picture. If this was a success then the crew had an ally in keeping the peace in this sector especially where the Tholians were concerned and ultimately that was their main goal, even if they were unsure as to the Alliance's true motives. However it seemed as though their time together and any further conversation was coming to an end sooner than the couple had anticipated as Isaiah received a summons to the Bridge from Judy and Thea knew it was time to be professional rather than being his girlfriend. Although didn't stop her from enjoying these last moments of normality as Isaiah thanked her again for the surprise and breakfast and delivered a soft kiss to her cheek. That would keep her smiling as he offered to help clean up but if it couldn't hold then he would make it up to her. " I look forward to it and see you soon" she replied, before she received another kiss, then watched as he left. The Doctor remained sitting for a few minutes, her mind replaying their conversation as she drained the last of the coffee and looked at the remains of their breakfast feast. Not wanting to come back to spoiled food if the exercise took longer than anticipated. Thea got up and began clearing the table, putting any waste in the recycler, before placing all empty dishes and plates etc, back on the anti grav trolley so she could deliver it back to the Mess Hall on her way to Sickbay. Then it was time for her to leave as she straightened her uniform and pushed the trolley out of her quarters.

With the young ensign off on his mission, Harmon returned to the bridge arriving just as K'Dex finished giving his ideas. Harmon again took one of the centre chairs next to Eastman. [Lt. Isaiah Quinn - CMO's Quarters, USS Mac] [...] Unaware of how urgent the summons was, he moved towards the door and began to make his way to the Bridge. [ LT(JG) Joshua Niles - Bridge, USS Mac ]And now, Niles was confused. He'd just been told to minimize the use of clever hardware tricks, yet Commander Eastman was in full support of using strictly thruster-driven, extreme short range utility small craft as a weapon, should the simulation allow for it? Well, if it meant they would be limiting themselves to things that aren't entirely past the capabilities of their hardware as was widely known, then they might have some more options. Provided they don't play too dirty. Which, as a tactician, really limited his options. A direct slugfest was probably the most basic of engagements, and wouldn't be particularly refined, and he didn't like the odds of that. They were entirely too close to even for his own taste. And, as he'd been taught, fair fights were for idiots and sporting events. However, it would at least seem that his security concerns were being seriously considered. And that was a line of thinking he was entirely ready to pursue. Especially since Crewman K'Dex had come up with something he had missed. "Yes, Ma'am, that's precisely what I'm saying. Whether a possible infiltration would strictly be limited as part of Colonel Vasser's attempt to win the simulation or actual intent to gain access to restricted or classified information and technology, I believe we need to treat it the exact same way. As the the saying goes, Ma'am, trust but verify; and besides, if I am mistaken then the worst that will have happened is that Lieutenant Andrews and the security teams got a bit more of a workout out of the wargames than they might have initially expected."And, between Commander Harmon's and Lieutenant Quinn's arrivals, he now had a full quorum to work with, between an intelligence expert who presumably had some counter-intelligence expertise to share and a character reference for Vasser. "Mister K'Dex, thank you for reminding me. Transport inhibitors would be a good thing to have active ship-wide, under control from the transporter rooms should we need to do any site-to-site transports during the exercises. Running commbadges through the nearest wall panels is a quick enough fix to internal communications and I can implement it right now. The rest, it should be left to Lieutenant Andrews."

The young Ba'ku couldn't think of anything else to contribute at the moment, so it was better to listen and learn from everyone else. She was also mentally executing the flying and evasive maneuvers that she'd developed. Commander, she said suddenly, standing, with your permission, I'd like to head to the holodeck to run a couple of quick simulations. I can forward the data to you as I go through the maneuvers.

Tag: Ozu Saya (1st Lt. Banks) [ 1st Lt. Robyn Banks - Operations - Bridge, NSS Soteria --> Airlock, Sigma-4] Yes, ma'am, Robyn said, jumping up. She raced to her quarters and replicated a standard Starfleet uniform. Crewmen didn't wear a rank insignia, so she just needed a combadge. Soon the infiltrator was dressed in gold and pinning a dummy badge to her chest. Robyn felt a bit odd being back in the old uniform, but it was for a good purpose. She grabbed a small sling bag and threw in her Alliance communcator, a few strips of gold-pressed latinum and a couple of small round objects with feet that looked something like children's toys. There were a couple of funny looks at the uniform as she left the Soteria. Robyn just grinned and shrugged as she left the ship and made a circuitous route through the station to the airlock where the Mac was docked. She paused out of sight and took a couple of deep breaths before casually approaching the doors.

Tag James Aubrey [ James Aubrey - Docking Ring, Starbase Sigma 4] Admittedly, James wasn't even sure how to begin. He had never been trained for this sort of task; he couldn't help but wonder why the Lieutenant Commander had chosen him at all. Still, it looked like he must have been one of the last of the Mac to enter the base - he stood alone in the docking ring. Alone, except for .... "Ah, eh - Hello," he responded to the stranger who had approached him. James was mostly immediately turned off from this stranger - perhaps the young Ensign simply didn't care for the prominence of his jowls - but he still forced a polite smile. Dixon seemed the imagined sneaky type - James imagined that this stranger must get along swimmingly with the Ferengi. "I'm ... " The idea to lie about his identity came to him, but James decided it was unnecessary. "Ensign James Aubrey. From the, uh - from the Mac, obviously." Another forced smile.

[LCDR Matthew Harmon - Bridge, USS Mac]"Niles makes a good point," Harmon stated. "And he's right. We're using this little event as a way to gather real intelligence, I see no reason why Vasser wouldn't do the same. We should treat any infiltration attempt as a genuine security threat, not simply another aspect of the game." He wasn't a fan of the impulsive young officer, however in this case he was absolutely correct and his suggestions were prudent. "Arm security and have them patrol in pairs, randomly checking ID of those on board. Station guards at sensitive points and block access to all but the most basic of functions of the computer on all unsecure terminals in areas where we have no guards," he added. "Anyone slightly suspicious should be reported to the Security Chief and investigated thoroughly, no accepting simple excuses even if they sound reasonable." Quinn soon arrived and Harmon turned his attention to the new Chief Science Officer. "Colonel Vasser," he stated simply. "Tell me about her," he left the question open and broad trusting that Quinn could answer best that way.

This was mainly to go through the checklist of jobs that needed attention as well as going through last minute prep for the exercise. " Whilst we don't know what will happen with this exercise, let's focus on getting everything in place" Thea began as she looked around at those gathered. " Matilda, Rex & Belinda, I want you three to make sure all beds have equipment trays. The rest of you, go ahead with your assigned tasks until we hear from the Bridge, which reminds me, I need to speak to Commander Eastman about using Cargo Bay 3 ... okay let's get to it".Dismissing her team, Thea then tapped her comm badge. =/\= Sickbay to Commander Eastman, permission to turn Cargo Bay 3 into a temporary triage centre for the purpose of the exercise =/\=

Mabel, go with Miss Aravis to run those simulations. Just don't take too long down there," Judy replied. The exercises would be starting pretty soon, after all. Judy walked over to her chair again, to look at the list on the console. It all looked acceptable to her. "Let's go with that, Mr. K'Dex. Good work," she approved, before finally getting to Quinn. "Before we get to that, Mr. Quinn, congratulations on the promotion," she detoured briefly, polite as ever. "Now, tell us about Vasser."Just then, Judy's commbadge went off. =A= "I think Cargo Bay 3 is perfect. Go for it," =A= she answered Thea, warm but succinct.

With the young ensign off on his mission, Harmon returned to the bridge arriving just as K'Dex finished giving his ideas. Harmon again took one of the centre chairs next to Eastman.

Tag Judith Eastman [Bridge, USS Mac] K'Dex could feel concepts and idea's coming together, and knew it was about to have half a dozen tasks that he wasn't going to be able to do. He opened a secured line to the Commanders arm station from his console, and starting sharing an outline of tasks that he'd need personnel assigned to, seeking approval before forwarding to Engineering. After he wrote it, he wondered if he'd missed anything. Either way, he needed to reorder tasks in what he figured would be either most important, or easiest to accomplish. Simulation Preperations
- Prepare with Science enough probes for full navigational overlap utilizing narrow-beam transmissions.
- Implement jamming frequencies for transporter main bands, set ships transporters to utilize custom bands.
- Verify with Tactical, all comm signals rerouted through nearest consoles, allow for extended bandwidth.
- Prepare excessive damage simulation, including false leak. Prepare holodeck file for intended simulations immediately and send to Lt. Aravis in regards to helm control. Place actual simulation on standby. False leak may utilize custom compound, nondangerous.
- Implement Ens Mabel's possibility assessment for workerbee/probe combat utilization if feasible.
K'Dex had stopped short for a moment after the transporter jamming tasks. Transporters were his focus of study at the Academy, and it brought one of his senior projects to mind. He wondered if it was applicable in this situation. It should be... Was it worth it? He glanced across the bridge as his mind considered, then locked eyes on the Ensign assigned to his chopperbee concept. He had other things to do. Maybe he'd bring up the idea at another time. While his ability to focus on multiple things and their priority was a key point for his damage control abilities, it had a habit of allowing random thoughts to cross in until he mentally assigned it as a non-priority. After he'd finished the assessment, he sent it to the Commander. Then, as he spoke, he pulled up 3 of the 4 files he'd looked at, pulled the relevant information that he'd tied together, and sent a rough explanation of his concept for the workerbee mutations to the Ensign. "Commander, possible task list for Engineering awaiting approval. Ensign Mabel, sent you a very rough project possibility. Lieutenant Aravis, if Commander approves, I'll have Engineering forward you a holodeck file with what they might plan for damage simulation."

[ LT(JG) Joshua Niles - Bridge, USS Mac ]And now, Niles was confused. Tag Ozu Saya , Thea Baker , Isaiah Quinn , K'Dex , Joshua Niles , and Matthew Harmon [ Lt. jg. Aravis - Bridge --> Holodeck 1] Thanks, Ensign, Aravis said quietly to the Caitain engineer with a smile. That will be helpful.
Let's go, she added to Commander Eastman's aide as she headed for the turbolift. It was so weird to be higher rank than people she still considered her peers. We'll be quick, Ma'am.As she and Mabel entered the 'lift, Aravis grinned excitedly at the other woman. I can't wait to try this out. It's going to be so much fun to put the Mac through her paces. In a couple minutes, the pair was outside the holodeck and Aravis was skimming through the computer's program options. Since shipboard holodecks were often used for training, it wasn't difficult to pull up one that focused on piloting. She pulled it up and entered the battle bridge of the Mac, heading right for the helm. I'm going to do a couple of run-throughs of my maneuvers for practice. As soon as engineering sends through those damage sims, will you upload them without telling me? I'd like to test the moves against surprise.

[ 1st Lt. Robyn Banks - USS Mac] Robyn slid past the bored security officer at the airlock with a casual smile and wave. Her first stop was a maintenance locker where the generic code she'd used on the Front Ear got her access to a repair kit. This in hand, Robyn found some empty quarters and 'repaired' her way in. Even if her life-signs were detected here, they weren't likely to automatically think to check if they were actually assigned to anyone. After all, if some members of the crew had been allowed to come along, but not participate, it made sense that some might stay in their quarters instead of going to the station. She sat at the computer console and took a moment to stretch her arms and back before accessing the computer. Within a few minutes, she'd planted the (relatively) harmless worm that would let the Soteria access some of the Mac's minor systems. That done, she went to engineering, keeping her head down and hoping anyone would assume she was on a mission. Robyn snorted to herself - she was, just not on one for this ship. Robyn knelt by a panel in a corner and reached into her bag with one hand while opening the repair kit with the other. In the busyness of preparations, one more crewman fiddling behind panels was hardly noticeable. She pulled out one of the little walking devices and set an electronic timer, then set it in the space behind the panel. At some point during the exercises, it would activate and start clacking around and making random noises. No actual harm would be done, but the engineers would have to waste time hunting down the issue. The power output was so low that it wasn't likely to be picked up by any scans.

Just then, Judy's commbadge went off. =A= "I think Cargo Bay 3 is perfect. Go for it," =A= she answered Thea, warm but succinct. [Sickbay - USS Mac] =/\= Acknowledge, Baker out =/\= With the warm response and approval of Judy, Thea quickly answered with her acknowledgement before closing the comm link. Then it was time for getting her team into action, especially as it wouldn't be long before they departed Sigma 4 for the start of the exercise and the last thing the CMO wanted was for things to be rushed and not in place by that time. With a quick call to request the additional equipment that she would need, Thea then gathered her emergency response team and the extra supplies, before exiting Sickbay. [Cargo Bay Three - USS Mac] When Thea and her team arrived in the cargo bay, the Commander was briefly reminded of the last time she was here, not that she could forget the autopsies and the dead bodies in stasis, after they had discovered what had happened to the Jupiter Star. But at the same time she had to push that to one side, despite it haunting her dreams occasionally so she could focus on setting up the triage centre, quickly and efficiently before she reported in to the Bridge. The first major job was to put the beds in place and so she got into the thick of it, helping the support personnel and her team to move them into position then erected screens up to section off the areas they would need.
