[Lt. Isaiah Quinn - Sickbay, Deck 7, USS Mac ] [...] His bodyguard, Derk't, was dispatched to retrieve what was needed from their quarters. Admittedly, there was a part of Isaiah that wasn't entirely sure if he wanted Derk't moving about the ship alone. Perhaps it was the look he'd gave Velal before leaving. Was it one of a warning, or something more significant? "I can take care of that," he said volunteering to see to replicating the vial's contents. Isaiah programmed the computer to scan the contents within, and replicate enough for the purpose of the ritual. "It shouldn't be long. The replication will begin once the computer has completed its structural analysis of vial's contents." Isaiah had every intention of making certain whether or not the water itself contained an agent that could... compromise any evidence. Of course, given that there was only so much that Thea would be allowed to do, their hands were tied and options limited. [ Thea - Sickbay, Deck 7] [...] " Understood Primary" she replied, as he then allowed them to witness the Rites of Do'Jame and despite the circumstances, appreciated the opportunity to do so as L'Sho explained about the cleansed waters and recited what must be some kind of prayer. When he then asked for the vial to be replicated as they would have to adapt the ceremony, Thea understood as they were very far away from Talor Prime and with Isaiah taking care of the replication, she knew that if anything was suspect, he would be able to identify it. That left them waiting along with the return of Derk't who had gone to fetch the oil that was needed. " Is there anything else that we can get you to help with the ritual, Primary?" Thea asked, wanting to do what she could, considering the limitations that they faced. [Primary L'Sho - Sickbay]"Thank you," he said to Lieutenant Quinn when the man took the vial. "Both," he added when Lieutenant Commander Baker confirmed she understood his wishes regarding the Rites of Do'Jame. He considered her follow up offer for a moment. "I think, due to the nature of this occurrence, that Sickbay will suffice for the Rite. If that is agreeable, Lieutenant Commander Baker. If we were on a Talorian ship or on our homeworld, we would remove the body to somewhere more appropriate, but we are limited here and I appreciate that you must do your due diligence."He stepped to the side, his hands clasped behind his back in his usual pose, glowing eyes averted from Kaelpra's body. "Once Derk't returns, we can begin. Once we begin, we cannot stop, for fear of Kaelpra's spirit getting lost forever in The Pit of Despair."L'Sho delivered the line with the certainty and poise of a true believer. Then, he allowed himself a moment of curiosity. By itself, that was not unusual, but that he humoured it, perhaps was. "Do humans perform similar Rites?"

Then, he allowed himself a moment of curiosity. By itself, that was not unusual, but that he humoured it, perhaps was. "Do humans perform similar Rites?" [Lt. Isaiah Quinn - Sickbay, Deck 7, USS Mac ] As Isaiah waited for the water to replicate, his attention turned towards Primary L'Sho as the man spoke. He seemed a bit different than before. Not as brisk as he had been previously. Perhaps there was something about his performing the Rites of Do'Jame for Kaelpra's spirit or even the absence of his bodyguard, but his behavior was definitely different. More... open. It may have been a coincidence, but Isaiah wasn't so sure. It may have been an unspoken norm that his position forced him to always be a beacon of strength that led to his behavior. As the replication process completed, one of the nurses moved to help Isaiah with the larger canisters of water. With the cannister on an anti-grav lift, it would be easy enough to move the cannister into position and alter the controls of the lift to raise it high enough that the water could be placed in whatever containment was set up. "The replication is complete," Isaiah announced. It may take a moment to modify the containment fields on the biobed to accommodate the rest of the ritual, but we should be able to erect a field that will allow the body to be submerged as the ceremony calls for." There was also the possibility of using the Holodeck, but Isaiah wasn't sure how practical it was to move Kaelpra's body there. Isaiah gestured for the nurse to bring the water closer. Meanwhile, Isaiah turned his attention to the console controls of the biobed. He began making the modification that would be necessary. Though, as he did so, he addressed L'Sho's question. "Some humans practice similar rites," Isaiah announced. "The entire populace doesn't yield to any particular spiritual belief. There are several similarities that the Egyptians on Earth used to practice and to that of your people. Some seek to prepare the spirit for its journey into the afterlife, while others prepare the body to journey to a new life... reincarnation." He continued to work to finalize the modifications to the field around the biobed.

[Derk't - Sickbay -> Shuttlebay, Deck 7]Derk't left Sickbay and stepped into the corridor beyond. He paused, catching sight of the two Security crewmen who were positioning themselves outside. The doors behind him drew closed with a hydraulic hiss, and he narrowed his eyes in suspicion at the pair. He stared for a few moments longer, and then with a displeased grunt, began to move again. Once he was far enough away, he pulled out a handheld device, Talorian in design, and inputted a few manual commands. A round, blue dot blinked on the map on his screen. Above that dot, in a font and script that would be unreadable to The Federation, was the name RELAN. Derk't loosed another irritated sound when he noted that the other Talorian was on Deck 7, and not Deck 8, where he was supposed to be working. The bodyguard decided to pay a quick visit to the shuttlebay and stepped into the nearest turbolift. What greeted him as he entered the cavernous room was a quick shout, seemingly coming from within a shuttle. As he neared he reeled at the unexpected scene. "RELAN!" His voice was a sharp crack, a warning. "You are disobeying!" In his slimy hands, Relan held a knife, and he obviously planned to use it on this randomer, who was definitely not Charlie Fox.

[ Commodore Calvin Perry - Bridge] Perry gave his attention to Niles as the man made his report and nodded in appreciation when he was done. Yes, I just came from dealing with things on Deck 12. You keep the conn for now. I imagine I'll be called away more than once as the investigation progresses. The commodore swiped a hand over his face and glanced over at the communications station. Get me whoever's in charge of this meeting on Argos Major.
Might as well give them a head's up, he added in a mutter. These were the times Perry missed being a junior officer. Usually, they were the busy ones; all he could do was sit and wait for reports. [ Lt (JG) Joshua Niles - Bridge - USS Mac ]Oh. So indeed the Commodore did know about the murder, but not only that but he'd been up to his elbows dealing with that particular situation until just about now, if Niles was reading him correctly. Howerver, given how the situation was treated as a close hold and follow-on information had yet to make it to the Bridge, the Officer of the Watch had decided to just let it ride and let Security do their job. And frankly, that was a matter of internal security that did not affect the overall operation of the ship, and as such he had decided to refrain from jogging Security's elbow, and take that hard lesson from the mission on the Medici to heart: trust the people to do their job, they'll talk to the Bridge when they're good and ready and have something to say... However, it was a bit of a surprise that he'd not been relieved; it was a rather unconventional thing, to have a very senior officer on the Bridge, in the center chair no less, who declined to be taking command and let someone monumentally their junior keep the conn; granted, he'd been under supervision by senior officers when he had been in transit on the Fawkes and while he was still getting himself through the Bridge Officer's Exam. "Aye Sir," he replied simply, before the order came to contact those on Argos Major who'd be responsible. "Aye Sir," came the reply from the relatively junior Chief at Communications, and before long a request to get in touch with the foreign affairs and diplomatic types on Argos Major was placed... and now, it was time to wait. The request to call up Argos Major was not lost on Niles. It meant that murder would have some consular implications, and that could be devastating... "Sir, there has been no information kicked this way about the murder. By your order to open a channel, should I assume it involved consular staff or delegation members in some way?"

[ Princess Elana - VIP Quarters, Deck 6] " Yes, I was fortunate to be able to bring a collection of them with me for the purposes of this visit and the talks on Argus Major" Elana replied, before Phoebe Volante commented on the JumJum flavour and how she would love to get some for herself. " Perhaps the ones who deal with your food, can help there as I believe that a shipment of Talorian food was brought aboard for the reception".Elana may not of been privy to that information initially but she wasn't as docile and clueless as some were led to believe and cared a lot more about other people, than her predecessor. When Phoebe Volante then mentioned if Elana had considered working in security and how it had its perks despite not being as glamourous as being a member of royalty. Elana wasn't sure how to respond until Phoebe chuckled and she took it as being what the Bataq called a joke. " No I'll leave that to Ostat and Lesal, although I'm sure it does have perks like you suggested".Another sip of wine was followed by more of the seafood and bread, the nourishment welcomed as Phoebe Volante leaned forward to ask a more personal question. Explaining the intricacies of Talorian relationships was something that Elana hadn't anticipated but after draining her glass and refilling it, decided to answer the question, without going into too much detail. " It's not uncommon on Talor Prime for an individual to have more than one bonded mate or for them to be of the same gender, so to answer your question, yes I have two special someone's as you call it, although we're not fully bonded yet".******************* [ Thea - Sickbay, Deck 7] As L'Sho thanked both her and Isaiah before considering the offer of any additional help to ensure that the ritual went as smoothly as they could make it. Thea was somewhat surprised by the change in the Primary from her other experiences whilst in his presence. This of course led the CMO to think that maybe he wasn't so bad after all and how this was purely down to a man wanting to do the best he could for his people. She could probably never be able to fully work him out but for the time being, listened as he answered her and asked if it was agreeable for them to remain in Sickbay for the ritual and how he understood that she had to do her due diligence. " Thank you Primary and yes it is agreeable for the Rite to be done in Sickbay" she replied as he then stepped to the side, diverting his gaze from Kaelpra as he explained about Derk't and how they would be able to begin once he returned. Thea nodded in response as Isaiah returned with the canisters of replicated holy water and L'Sho asked if humans performed similar rites. Whilst Isiah informed the Primary of what he had done and how they could accommodate the rest of the ritual, before answering his question. Thea appreciated what he had done and his explanation as she added to the conversation. " Even though there are different beliefs and practices, we also value the life of the one we have lost, so we celebrate their life through sharing stories, remembering the good times as well as eating and drinking".

[ Relan - Deck 7, Shuttlebay] Kaya's tears and attempts to escape by throwing the scanning device, grabbing hold of their sleeve and trying to hold onto the chair in front was all very amusing to the Mat'am. In fact Kaya Som was proving to be a worthy target and her death would certainly appease his thirst for extinguishing another life, before his attentions turned to the reporter. Even her cracked shout to activate some kind of alert was pitiful as was her lashing out at him, resulting in her cutting her hand on the ceremonial blade. " Now why did you have to go and do that, you pitiful creature" he snarled as struck her once more. " Looks like I'll have to do this quickly, just in case your Bataq friends decide to investigate".Angered by the thought of having to kill her more quickly rather than taking his time, like he wanted. The Killer prepared to strike once and for all as he raised the knife high, with nothing but pure evil in his eyes. As he looked at his prey, offering the ritual chant as was custom by his clan and selecting where to start first. He was interrupted, forcing him to growl in anger as he heard his name being called out and the warning that followed. " This doesn't concern you Derk't, don't you have better things to do, rather than ruin this for me!!" he called back angrily. Fury pulsed through his veins and he struck Kaya with his hand in anger.

[Ambassador Ehud Herzog - Office, Argus Major]For Ambassador Herzog, the days could be full of waiting. He fluttered around between formal events, and in between them, he just sat around. His silver hair, receding and curly (but cropped short enough), was distinguished, and the gravitas of his large desk conveyed the same air. Always wearing a tailored suit, Ambassador Herzog was perennially ready for a photo-op. His current secretary entered the office. A young man, Sapis Abbott was one-quarter Vulcan and three-quarters human, with the pointy ears of the former and the mannerisms of the latter. He had dark hair, cropped short, and donned Terran business attire like his boss. "Ambassador, there's a call for you from the USS Mac," Sapis reported, in a smooth tenor. "Thank you, Mr. Abbott. I'll take it here," Herzog answered, his own voice a rumbling baritone. He looked into the video recorder (the office had yet to receive a holorecorder), and took the call from the Mac. =A= "This is Ambassador Herzog on Argus Major. Tag Joshua Niles and/or Ozu Saya (Perry) [ Commodore Calvin Perry - Bridge] Perry heaved a sigh before replying to the junior lieutenant. Yes, one of the Talorians. Primary L'Sho has agreed to cooperate with our investigation, but I'm concerned about this raising tensions between the crew and the delegation. The commodore paused and eyed the younger man, wondering how he was handling the presence of the Talorians. Before he could ask anything, his call to Argus Major was answered, so he turned his attention to the view screen. Ambassador, Commodore Perry, he said briefly in introduction. We're still en route to Argus Prime, but we've run into a...snag. One of the Talorians was murdered this morning, an assistant of the Primary. We've begun an investigation, and the Talorians have agreed to-Perry was interrupted by a strident beeping and the computer intoning, Intruder alert, intruder alert. What now?Computer, location of intruder? The intruder report originated in the shuttlebay on Deck 7.Is security on the way?A security team has been dispatched.Perry drummed his fingers on the arm of his chair. To go or not to go? He'd wait for a report from security. They probably wouldn't like to have him underfoot in a potentially dangerous situation. Ambassador, things seem to be escalating here. I just wanted to inform you of the situation. As it stands, we'll remain on course and on time.

[ Lt Laurel Andrews - Crime Scene, Deck 12] [...] " Good work so far but considering we haven't found anything yet, I'm thinking that the killer didn't stay around for too long afterwards" she began as she looked around the immediate vicinity. " I know Primary L'Sho is currently in Sickbay and we have officers posted outside and with this deck locked down, I believe that now is the perfect time for us to conduct a search of the other decks. If you come with me Crewman, we'll make a start and I'll have other teams dispatched across the ship".It may a little extreme but with a killer on the loose, they couldn't be to complacent and this might be the only way they could catch them. [ PO1 Kaya Som | Deck 7, shuttlebay ][...]"Computer! Intruder alert!" she managed in a cracked shout, hoping the computer would register the command. Somehow, in the frenzied, one-sided melee, something registered. Markings. It was that creepy, gholbin'tema Talorian from the reception who'd commented about her spots! She cried out in anger and fear, lashing out and cutting her hand on the knife. [Turbolift, Deck 12, USS Mac] T'Karra had been accompanying Lieutenant Andrews to the turbolift to start sweeping other decks when the call came through. Her eyes locked with the Lieutenant's and she took off at a dead sprint. Petty Officer "Ma," hearing the commotion and always eager for combat pursued. More security personnel would be better, but someone had to stay behind and protect the crime scene analysts. In seconds, they covered the last 10 meters to the doors, her fingers frantically summoning the lift. Fear was illogical, she reminded herself not for the first time, but that didn't stop the tendril of unease and adrenaline that crept into her chest and spread. She pushed down the feeling and slipped into the lift the second the doors slid open, drawing her phaser and adjusting the settings. Either they would arrive in time or they would not, worrying not make them arrive any faster. More security personnel would have been better considering they had no idea if they were going to encounter one intruder or twenty, but someone had to stay behind and protect the investigators. She could only hope that more teams were dispatched to reinforce them or that someone had already arrived on scene- unlikely considering they had yet to hear a sitreps over comms. When the door opened, they would be facing the unknown. "Vulcan, throw a stunner and we'll make a criss-cross entry," said the Petty Officer as he flanked the left side of the door. T'Karra nodded, took the opposite flank, and preparred the less-than lethal device in her off hand. They looked at each other before glancing back at Lieutenant Andrews. It was the first time she had seen the Klingon seem unsure of what he wanted to say and she couldn't quite figure out why. "That is... if you approve, Lieutenant," he added, hesitantly. [USS Mac - Deck 7 - Sickbay]
The alarm echoed through Sickbay, splitting through her skull and triggering an instinctive response. Rolling onto her side in attempts to get out of bed, Jovireh paused as her reaction seemed sluggish. Her brain was foggy in spite of a throbbing headache, and her eyelids found staying open to be an impossible task. What the hell was wro- Oh. That's right... the doctor sedated her. She wasn't going anywhere any time soon. Groaning in frustration, she rolled back onto the biobed, rubbing her hands over her face. That's it... Jov was never going to Sickbay voluntarily ever again. At least if she had gone to her quarters she'd be able to wake up now. All she could do instead was send a silent prayer for protection of those involved, and then the medication overpowered her system once more, pulling her back into sleep.

[ PO1 Kaya Som | Deck 7, shuttlebay ]Relan hit Kaya and she saw stars. Nothing she did seemed to faze him - she just couldn't get an angle to push him off, nothing she could get in hand was a match to that knife. Pieces seemed to slide into place and Kaya could see the corridors of the Mac littered with corpses, viscera all taken. Another Jupiter Star. The second Talorian wasn't going to help her. How did this happen? "Don't do this," she tried, her voice hoarse. "Don't do this, don't do this, don't do this..." she muttered over and over, hands up, blood running down her arm. [ Lt Laurel Andrews - Deck 12 to Deck 7, Shuttlebay] With a team on it's way in order to watch over the investigation and maintain the lockdown on Deck 12, Laurel then proceeded to follow T'Karra and Ma towards the turbolift so they could begin their search of the other decks. That was until they received the alert from Dispatch about the activation of the intruder alert in the Shuttlebay on Deck 7, prompting the Lieutenant to speed up and enter the lift just after the others. Whilst it felt like an age for them to reach Deck 7, in reality it didn't take that long and soon she was running alongside her two officers as they then took up position just outside the main doors. Without knowing exactly what was going on inside, Laurel knew that no matter what they did, there would be risks but it was her job to ensure those risks were kept at a minimum, especially if this meant catching the Killer as opposed to the alert being set off accidentally. Then again if the chances of that happening were slim as Ma began to issue instructions about what he wanted T'Karra to do and how they would enter the bay. Whilst she admired his ability to take control, it appeared that the Petty Officer had realised that he still had to run it by her first since she was in charge. Not that Laurel would take him to task over it, especially given the fact that they didn't have time to mess around. So as she considered what was said, there was one important thing to do first. " Computer, initiate security lockdown, including all exits apart from my current location. Authorisation, Andrews - Delta - Bravo - Alpha 7".Once the lockdown had been initiated, Laurel then turned to the others, " Yes I approve, however I want the device to be used as a distraction only, so T'Karra throw it just inside the doors".Orders given and with a finality that wasn't open to modification, Laurel then got into position, phaser on stun and raised ready to enter once it was safe to do so and with a simple prayer that they weren't too late.

" It's not uncommon on Talor Prime for an individual to have more than one bonded mate or for them to be of the same gender, so to answer your question, yes I have two special someone's as you call it, although we're not fully bonded yet".[Ens. Phoebe Volante - VIP Quarters, Deck 6] The Security Officer chuckled lightly when the Princess said she would leave that to her two bodyguards, "That seems reasonable, they do seem built for the job. I'm not sure any sane person would try and force their way past those two. Besides, I'm sure royalty has it's perks too. Lavish quarters, Lovely dresses, Receptions thrown in your honour." While she was a little jealous of the all the nice things Elana would have because of her status, she was sure she wouldn't envy the cons of the role too. Phoebe listened as Elana described the general culture of their bonding and how many she had waiting for her back on Talor, "Must be nice. Due to humans varied beliefs our bonds also vary, but as a general rule gender doesn't matter but only have a singular bond. And the more cultures we learn about the more and more the singular bond thing seems weird. Many cultures have multiple bonds, and some don't even have the concept." She leaned back slightly in thought, only snapping back to reality a moment later when she remember there was nothing to ret her back ona dn she had to flail slightly to fall over. What's the matter?" =A= With the Federation flag draped behind him, beside the magnificent view from the window, Herzog looked like a portrait of himself. [ Commodore Calvin Perry - Bridge] Perry heaved a sigh before replying to the junior lieutenant. [ Lt (JG) Joshua Niles - Bridge - USS Mac ]A member of the Talorian delegation was the victim. Just lovely. Granted, Niles was not going to shed any tears over the victim; his experiences with the Talorians had not exactly been pleasant, and he reckoned he might not be a particularly well-liked person among those people either. However, he was hardly blind to the matters of having murderers loose on the ship and the diplomatic implications of Talorian consular personnel being murdered while in transit on any Federation starship, let alone one that had been involved in a serious incident with Talorian ships... So, the information first took him by surprise, and it took him a few heartbeats to school his features back to a more expressionless mien. "I see..." That was all that Niles had the time to say before the viewscreen came to life with the office of a neatly-dressed and well-groomed man who simply oozed the aura of a long-time careerist civil servant, and the young Lieutenant simply sat in the XO's chair, seeking to look calm and professional while he might be in the pickup of the transmission going to Argos Major. That was, until the Intruder Alert sounded and Commodore Perry, though he'd decided against taking the watch, queried the computer. However, this gave Niles an opportunity to get himself from under the direct gaze of the ambassador, and he rose from his chair before heading towards the second Tactical station, which stood unmanned. "Ensign Bromski," he called to the officer at Ops, "Lock down the shuttlebay doors and all of our small craft. Tactical, ready tractor beam in case they get past Ops' lockouts. Do not let anything get out of our warp bubble."With security teams already dispatched to the shuttlebay itself, and most likely in the hands of someone better at that sort of operations than he was, he was more than happy to manage the 'ship' aspect of that crisis without jostling someone's elbow down on Deck 7.

[Ens. Thea Baker (Princess) [ Princess Elana - VIP Quarters, Deck 6] " You are most correct Phoebe Volante, only the foolish have tried and soon regretted that they did" Elana replied in response to the comments made in regards to Ostat and Lesal. Evoking memories of her first meeting with them and their almost sibling like relationship since, even if she did occasionally test their patience. As Phoebe Volante then mentioned the perks of being royalty, she made it sound so exciting but in reality, Elana preferred the company of only a few people and not having to wear any clothes. " Yes I guess it does, but one must not forget their beginnings or the value of privacy".When the conversation turned to the topic of relationships following Elana's explanation of how Talorians were bonded to one another and how they could have multiple partners, regardless of gender. The Princess listened as Phoebe Volante explained how Human relationships worked as well as her experiences from learning about others. Single bonding was unheard of in her culture and yet the concept interested Elana as she wondered what it would be like to be with just one person for her entire life. " That is fascinating, to be bonded to just one person ... so tell me Phoebe Volante, do you have someone special?".
