[Park - Front Ear] Leanna couldn't help but grin as Riyo lowered his head to quietly murmur about how she was the best looking one present. She knew that he was being biased but she always enjoyed his compliments and his appreciation. However before she could be respond, Judy and Max approached and greeted them. Smiling as Riyo spoke first, she was glad that they knew about her and Riyo to save any awkwardness. " Hi Judy and thank you, hey Max" she said as the arrival of Divine Temptation caught her attention. " I see that the entertainment for after the promotions is here, I hope to see you both on the dance floor".Of course they had no idea what she was planning and couldn't wait to reveal it.

[Lt. Paawin Riyo - Front Ear - Park]Riyo lowered his head to murmur quietly. "You're definitely the best-looking one here," So maybe he was biased, but he did love the way the dress and butterfly complimented her. He straightened and turned just in time to see Comman- Captain Eastman and Max approaching them. He gave the other couple a nod and smile of greeting. "Hello Captain, Max. Good to see you both. Especially in a more pleasant environment." He offered his hand to Max to shake. He'd been grateful that Perry had received regular visits, but it was always better to see people when they weren't visiting the gravely injured. Judith Eastman(-Williams) et al - Park]"It's good to see you too. Thank you for coming," Judy said to the duo, as Max firmly shook Riyo's hand. "It's not every day that you get to see your wife promoted to Captain," Max added, with evident pride. The older couple handled life as a team, as partners instead of competitors, so the accomplishments of each one were a source of joy for the other. "I'm going to promote Grandma," Michael piped up, picking up on the topic his grandpa had brought up. The six-year-old, blond and bespectacled, bore a clear resemblance to his grandmother. "Riyo, this young man is Michael, our grandson. Michael, this is Dr. Paawin Riyo," the Captain introduced her grandson to the Bajoran. "You look like a Bajoran, so Riyo is your first name, right?" Michael asked insightfully. "We might dance, although spraining my ankle again might not be the best way to start a new job," Judy added, to Lea.

[Lt. Paawin Riyo - Front Ear - Park]"That's very true. Congratulations," he replied, before his attention was captured by the child between them. He knelt down as the introductions were made, smiling in surprise as the child guessed his race and name correctly. "Very good! Your grandma is lucky to have such a smart boy to promote her!" As the subject changed to dancing, Riyo straightened and turned a playfully accusatory look to Lea. "So this was your plan all along. I should have known it was only a matter of time before you cornered me on a dance floor," he shook his head with a dramatic sigh. Of course he was referring to their first conversation, back on the night they met, when she tried to convince him to check out Delirium. He'd told her he had two left feet. While she hadn't brought up dancing since then, he hadn't forgotten her desire to. His gaze shifted back to Judy with a smile. "With both Doctor Baker and myself here, this is as good a place as any to risk an injury." It was rare for both the doctors to be in the same place at the same time, as it was normally his job to be where she wasn't. So while most would be concerned about ruining such a happy occasion, he saw no reason not to take advantage of the rarity of care available.

[Park - Deck 6, Front Ear] It was easy to forget that they weren't the only people present as Isaiah smiled at her words before agreeing to her idea of also checking out the buffet. So with that in mind and trying not to think about the possibility of spilling anything too obvious on her new dress uniform. With Isaiah escorting her across the park, Thea greeted those she knew as well as spotting other familiar faces as they stopped by the bar first. " What would you like... apart from me?" she teased quietly, before perusing the drinks list, glad that they had this and the beverage table. After all it was a party and she wasn't going to let the crew wait needlessly to get what they wanted. [Lt. Commander Isaiah Quinn - Park, Deck 6, Front Ear Station ] Isaiah contemplated it briefly before finally answering. "For now, I'll play it safe and have a water," Isaiah said. Thea's quip about wanting her hadn't gone unnoticed. "I want to be sure you have my full attention for the evening," he said. Of course, there was also the idea of guarding his uniform from stains at play as well. His eyes scanned the rooms as they collected their drinks. "Looks like quite the turnout so far."

[PO3 Jovireh Velal - Front Ear - Park]The newly-appointed Petty Officer was relieved when she saw the reassuring smile the Captain gave her. Of course, after their in-depth conversation after the debacle with the Talorians, Judy probably understood her desire for alcohol to navigate the event far better than before. And it wasn't like she had smuggled it in, so really she shouldn't have been worried... Her attention turned back to Kova as she mentioned her mother's preference for mug shots. That caused a slight raise in her eyebrow, but instead of questioning it she just laughed and shook her head. "My mother saw plenty of those in our first year on Earth, before I enlisted. One more and her wrath would be directed at me." More like severe disappointment, but it was all the same to her. Kova then went on about the manipulative skills of the humans. It was something she had never considered before... But she did have a point. "I always attributed it to their arrogance. New kids in the galaxy, and they automatically think they know better than everyone else." It was refreshing not being the only one who had a less-than-stellar opinion of the race that dominated Starfleet. Though she still made certain to keep her voice low. The last thing she needed to do was offend someone who overheard them. Judith Eastman [ Kova Sh'qaleq - Park, Deck 6, Front Ear Station ] Kova listened to the relatively brief narrative about Jovireh's past. From that, she could see that the pair of them had inverted journeys to the present. Kova had been the bound for a bright future in Starfleet, only to end up on a penal colony and a less than charmed life after the fact. Yet, Jovireh clearly began her time on Earth as a delinquent, and was now being promoted and honored on this very evening for her service in Starfleet. "Earth has always had a way of forging the destinies of people that don't originate from there."Her comment seemed to be related in a fashion to Jovireh's observation, causing the Andorian to nod along in agreement. "That is a very astute observation," she agreed. "Arrogance... romanticized to be something more humble and wholesome." A long sigh left Kova's lips. "Ironically, I find the company of a few of them... palatable." She then raised her glass to sip some of her brandy before lowering it from her lips.

[ MCPO Ozu Saya - Park] Saya stepped through the doors into the park with a harried look on her face. She was late. She hated being late, but at the last moment, Evekh had started vomiting. Saya had wanted to stay and take care of her son, but as a senior officer, this was an official function. Kyo had sent her off, assuring the worried mother that he would call her if it were anything serious. He'd bundled up the miserable 3-year-old and headed for sickbay as Saya left for the park. He hadn't called yet, so Saya assumed that it wasn't something so dire that the doctors would have called for her immediately. She glanced around at the small groups mingling about the lawns and spotted Judy and Max. Saya strode over, tugging at her uniform tunic, then smoothing invisible stray hairs on top of her head. She'd done her hair in a slightly elaborate Bajoran style; she was always worried that she'd mess up and the whole thing would come tumbling down. The only external indication of her stress by the time she approached the group was a slight crease in her forehead above her nose ridges. Captain, she said quietly, managing a small smile and nodding at the others.

[Park - Front Ear] Leanna smiled as Judy thanked them for coming before Max shook Riyo's hand and Michael spoke up. The six year old and his siblings were friends of Ari and Lea knew how close he was to his Grandma. So for him to be involved was very endearing and smiled again as Riyo knelt down to speak to him. [Capt. Judith Eastman(-Williams) et al - Park]"Thank you," Michael accepted the praise politely. He had learned to mind his manners, especially as he wanted to follow in his grandmother's footsteps and captain a starship (or station) someday. As for the grandmother in question, Judy was less concerned with the ramifications of the injury, than she was with a big, public fiasco. She didn't mind showing the crew her more human side, but seeking out a demonstration of her feebleness wasn't a good way to inspire confidence. "The fact that you and Thea are both here makes it worse. I'd have to play favorites," she quipped, evading the topic. Then along came Saya, looking just a little worried; worried enough, in fact, that Judy didn't give voice to her pithy thoughts about everyone, from her daughter to the JCC[fn]Jewish Community Center[/fn] at Utopia Planitia, addressing her by the new rank (though how the latter had heard of the promotion, she did not know). "Thank you for coming, kiddo," she said instead. "Aunt Saya is half-Bajoran. That's how I know about your people," Michael then pointed out to Riyo. He was, understandably, proud of the multicultural environment in which he'd grown up. "Let's sit down," Max suggested, not too keen on continuing the awkward dance of holding his plate in one hand and picking quiches off it with the other.

Whoever is closest tends the patient." It didn't work quite the same way in emergency triage, when patients are assigned to those with the experience necessary for treating their level of injury. But away from the infirmary, regardless of the severity of the injury, the patient was treated by whoever could reach them first. They were joined then by whom he recognized as the station's Chief Engineer, and returned her smile and nod of greeting. "To the not so arrogant," Kova said, "... for daring to be different." She tilted her glass to drink and then lowered it. Kova's eye glanced briefly in the direction of the captain and her husband, and then back towards Jovireh. "You seem... friendly with our new captain," Kova remarked. "Do you consider her to be among those few?" One could argue that such a question was loaded and put the security officer on the spot. Yet, Kova had never been known to tread lightly.
