[Ens. Syl O'Connell - Caldonia Prison - The Pit]It sounded like they needed to find this Solin before they could do anything else. "Maybe one of the other workers can tell us where they're keeping her," she suggested. Asking around was better than wandering aimlessly. Syl picked up on the slight note of excitement in the Andorian's voice when he talked about stealing a transport. Glancing over she met his gaze, and while she wasn't quite sure what he was thinking, it seemed they shared a streak of mischief. Turning back to the rock, she took a few more one-handed swings, before Kova was spotted on the path above them. She paused and looked up, and Charlie took off to go get her. At least they were all alive, and now in one place. Whether they were rescued or forced to escape on their own... Staying together as much as possible would be best.

{Quoted Posts} [ Shavan Th’zhaar - The Pit] Everyone seemed in agreement about finding Solin, and after a brief hesitation Shavan nodded. They could use any help they could get, and didn’t have many other options. Talking to a prisoner who had been here for longer could be a valuable part of getting the sort of information they needed. And of course, if Kova was being held somewhere else, they would try to find her too. He turned away from them as he listened, so as to prevent the Caldonians from noticing them standing around talking. With difficulty, he forced himself to take another swing at the rock, trying not to show how much the action cost him. As the whispered discussion continued, he considered their other options. Charlie said that Olsen was still out there, but without access to it that wouldn’t be any use. Harmon had said back in the runabout that they were on their own. If the Caldonians and the crew of the Mac both knew they were there, Starfleet would have to renounce all ties with them. Anything else just didn’t make sense. “We can’t deal with who set us up if we don’t get out of here first. But I agree, any help would be useful. What else do you know about this Solin?” He looked between Charlie and Harmon, who seemed most familiar with the Kurjarians, wondering if they had any ideas on where to start looking for her. Fortunately this place seemed pretty low-tech, which would make getting around at least a little easier. Finding out where the shuttles docked was would be a good start. “They must regularly transport the ore out of here. Stealing a transport won’t be a problem, once we get to one.” Shavan could also help with that when the time came. He actually grinned a little when he saw the similar expression on O’Connell’s face. Maybe they had something in common. He looked up, trying to count the exits to the mining area. His gaze hardened when he saw the guard that had beat him… but then, a cluster of prisoners moved, and he spotted a flash of blue behind them. “Up there. It’s Kova,” he quickly pointed it out to the others, relieved to see that she was here after all. [Matthew Harmon - 'The Pit']
Harmon was glad that Charlie was okay, but didn't have time to dwell on it as they needed to formulate a plan. Stealing a shuttle was a good idea, and Syl seemed to think she was up to it. "We have to be prepared for if the Mac doesn't come to our aid, which is fairly likely. They're in the middle of a major diplomatic incident now, and the Admiralty is still keen to play nice with the Caldonians," he was still hoping they would be able to come and rescue them, however he wasn't going to hold his breath. "Hope for the best, prepare for the worst," he added. As for the snitch, there were enough Kurjarian collaborators and potential incentives for them that it could have been a Kurjarian, however Xoteck was still number one on the suspect list. Still, Shavan was right, it didn't really matter now. "Solin was Chief Jeren's wife. The one who...visited the station a while back," he explained in response to Shavan's question. "He says she is well respected among the Kurjarians, when she talks they listen. She's smart but passionate. Jeren promised she would help us." They then spotted Kova. Good. She was alive at least. With her back on the team their chances of escape were slowly rising from impossible to slightly less impossible. "Good to see you aren't dead," he said once Kova had joined the group, which in terms of Kova and Harmon's unique relationship was a rather touching and kind thing for him to have said.
{Spoiler}[Charlie Fox - The Pit]
Charlie's mind hadn't even processed the simple truth that the other Fleeters would leave them behind. It hadn't yet occurred to her. Strange, being that she was normally so cynical when it came to them, but Matt's words metaphorically punched her right in the gut. Her face paled even further and she averted her eyes, allowing the sounds of the other three to wash over her as they spoke quietly and planned. She felt lost in that moment, cut off, at sea. She'd spent all of her life relying on nobody but herself, why should that change now? Still, she couldn't shake it, and it wasn't until Shavan said Kova's name that she returned to the horrible present. Her eyes flew upward and she dropped the ancient tool to the ground. Muttering something unintelligible to the others, Charlie stepped back from the immovable wall of rock, and began walking parallel to the walkway above, where the Andorian seemed to be struggling. She began the short climb up the ramp toward her when her collar activated. The shock was quick, but effective. She ground her teeth, jaw clenched, hands reaching up automatically to grab at the blasted device. "If you are upright, you can dig!"The same voice as before. Her hands shook with tremors as she glanced upward, trying once more to find the source of the sound. If looks could kill the Caldonian manning these shock collars would have already been turned inside out. "I'm going to help her!" She snarled, voice raspy with pain, but insistent nonetheless. "Two upright workers are better than none, moron!"When no immediate response came, Charlie kept moving toward Kova. "We're all here," she told her in greeting, then reached out to offer her an arm, eyes sliding toward the mangled leg and the inadequate repair job. We'll be dead in under three days.[Ens. [ Kova Sh'qaleq - Caldonia Prison - The Pit] There was no way to offset the weight with each step that Kova took. And as more weight was applied to her wounded leg, a painful groan left her lips. Many of the workers kept moving past her, without a thought. Kova could see that her less-than-a-snail pace had apparently gained the attention of one of the sentries. He certainly didn't seemed pleased with it. Kova only spared a single look over her shoulder back towards the guard, and then allowed her eyes to return forward. For a moment, Kova believed that perhaps she was hallucinating. It had to be a result of either dehydration or perhaps some sort of infection had set in her wounds. Or maybe she was simply going insane, because the sight of Charlie Fox approaching her had never been a more welcome one. She offered Kova her arm for support, with the promise that they were all there. Kova hesitated. Whether it was Andorian pride that wanted her to stand on her own two feet or the fear that Charlie's image would just fade away as a cruel joke from fate, Kova was uncertain. Yet, she reached out anyway. Her eyes closed with swelling relief as she could feel the warmth from the pink-skin's arm. Had she not been dehydrated, her eyes may have welled with tears. Kova finally opened her eyes as she looked into Charlie's. Her lips parted as if she was about to speak, but the only thing she could manage was a nod. She began to follow Charlie's lead, the others coming into view as they approached. Harmon... Shavan... the rookie, O'Connell. Once she was close enough, Harmon was the first to speak. He said that it was good to see that she wasn't dead. Kova simply stared at him for a moment. Oddly enough, she had seen the look behind his eyes in her own mother's before. It was the burden of command. That sense of responsibility for those that were in your charge. Some people broke under that sort of pressure. Harmon didn't strike her as the type that would, but Kova felt the need to support him nonetheless. If they were going to survive this, they all needed to be at the top of their game. The others would take their cues from Harmon, so Kova decided to cling to normalcy as much as possible. "You run that line on every girl you're trying to ask out?" the Andorian quipped. "No wonder you're still single." Kova shifted slightly, as she tried her best to balance her weight with Charlie's support. Kova looked around at the others and then back to Harmon. "So, what's the plan and when are we getting out the f--k of here?"

[ Shavan Th’zhaar - The Pit] Charlie, who looked to be in the best state to do so, went after Kova, and Shavan kept digging while Harmon and O’Connell confirmed his thoughts and continued to plan in whispers. The pilot suggested they talk to the other prisoners, which was probably the only way to find Solin. “Agreed. We’ll just have to wait for the right chance.” There was little else they could do right now under the watchful eyes of the Caldonians. They would have to wait for the opportune moment to slip away. Shavan swung the pickaxe at the rock to maintain the appearance of working, but the movement tore at his injuries and he paused for breath. A moment later there was a searing shock from the collar. He let out a pained hiss, leaning against the rock wall, hanging his head as he steeled himself against it. He lifted the pickaxe again, all the while a cold fury towards the Caldonians, and the entire situation, was building inside him. No one was coming for them, and even if they did pull off some daring escape, it would take time. They were stuck here, but he would get out or die trying. There were no other options. Shavan was soon shaken from these thoughts by the return of Charlie and Kova. Despite everything, he grinned at the sight of Kova and what she said. “We were just talking about that. We continue the mission, find Solin, get the lay of this place, and steal a transport out. As soon as we can, of course.” It wouldn't be a second too soon. [Matthew Harmon - 'The Pit']
Harmon looked furiously towards the Caldonian controlling the shock collars as he shocked Charlie. He gripped his mining tool tightly, wishing he could do something about the cruel, smug, bastard. However, he knew that anything he could attempt, however satisfying, would be short lived and probably lead to the lot of them being killed. Charlie then helped Kova over finally reuniting the condemned group. To his surprise she didn't begin with an 'I told you so'. She was probably thinking it, but at least she was holding off for now. He smiled as she teased him, glad that she seemed to still have her sense of humour and they hadn't beaten her personality out of her. "We should ask around about Solin, O'Connell suggested maybe one of the workers can help us find her. She might be able to help us get out. At the very least she's someone we can mostly trust who should know more about this prison than we do," he told Kova bringing her up to speed. "Unless the Captain can find a way to help, it may take us some time to get out. I don't think they would execute us, it would harm relations with the Federation to much, but we need to be careful."

[Charlie Fox - The Pit]There was something oddly reassuring about Kova's teasing words to Harmon. They fed her spirit, providing a comfort. They were all there, all of them - together. They were alive. Some were in various stages of abject misery, of course, and probably not long for this horrible world, but alive, nonetheless. And they were all fixed on the same goal. They would get out of there, or die trying. Strange, how someone like Charlie, who spent most of her time prizing her own company above anyone else's, would feel saved merely by being close to them. A slight smile, unbidden, curved her mouth as the banter broke through the alien sounds of the pit. She tightened her arm around Kova's waist and gave her a quick squeeze. "Come on, let's at least pretend to do some work. I think my brain might short if I get another shock." She moved toward their line, helping to support Kova when needed, and joined the others properly. For now, their goals were to survive and to get out. On that, there was perfect harmony.
