{Click for Judy's outfit today} [Capt. Judith Eastman(-Williams) & The Hon. Judge Estelle Roth - Lobby, Ambassador Hotel]The lobby of the Ambassador Hotel was on the ground floor, with large, sectional couches, and massive windows. It was here that the Starfleet delegation was to gather for a quick briefing, before they went out for their walking tour. Judy sat down on one of the sofas, clad in what she felt was a suitably comfortable, neutral dress (and once again - unusually for her - with her contacts instead of her bifocals), while Estelle climbed onto a coffee table in full judicial regalia and platform shoes. "Alright, kiddos. We're going on a walking tour of the city. The Caldonians believe in multitasking, so you gotta walk and talk at the same time, and take this whole thing in. Don't let the pomp and circumstance and shine and splendor fool you too much," she instructed.

[ MCPO Ozu Saya - Lobby - Ambassador Hotel] Saya had been relieved to return to her room the previous evening. The constant need to be careful of her words had been trying. She hoped today's activities wouldn't require the same level of heightened awareness, but it didn't seem likely. Today she wore a dark grey, knee-length dress with comfortable walking shoes and a long green cardigan with pockets into which she'd tucked ID, a PADD and a small fidget device that she thought might help her keep her emotions in check. Saya sat next to Judy, giving her a slightly amused raised brow as Estelle addressed their group from on top of a coffee table. ---------- Tag Judith Eastman, softs to everyone else

[ Lt Joshua Niles - Lobby, Ambassador Hotel ]The dinner had been a brutal ordeal for the young Tactical Officer. If walking on eggshells had been tough, this was trying to land the saucer section of a Galaxy-class starship onto eggshells, while balancing a stack of spinning plates on a broomstick balanced on his nose. In fact, it had been even more stressful than all the exam sessions and practical tests at the Academy and finally passing his bridge officer's examination all combined. And once he spied a member of the delegation making their way, he followed suit with almost indecent haste. And when he had returned to his suite, he could not care less about the Caldonian distaste for alcohol; there might not have been a proper bourbon available that he could afford, but he had managed to find a suitable substitute for the time being, and he allowed the booze to do its job to take the edge off his nerves, and while he normally did not particularly enjoy harsh brews, the rye-like heat of that particular bottle was welcome, giving him something else to focus on as a way to distance himself from the events of the dinner. However, unlike the event with the Talorians, he did moderate his intake quite a bit, and when morning came, he did not look nor feel like death warmed over when he made for the lobby. Gone was the formalwear he had donned the night before and he instead was in something that could be considered smart but casual dress, and in preparation for potentially a long day on his feet, he wore a pair of comfortable boots that were very much reminiscent of his issued ones. And, of course, Her Honour had chosen to address everyone in a way that, frankly, hadn't surprised him, what with being atop a coffee table, and while she gave her speech, he drifted closer to the Captain and the Chief Engineer. "Captain, Chief, good morning."

[Lobby – Ambassador Hotel] Dr. Hunt approached the Hotel Lobby for his mini briefing. He still felt out of place, and last night he did not make the Best First Impression. He was still off guard, and he still felt like a fish out of water. He figured getting back to the swing of things would be hard, but it was harder than expected. He wore a long sleeve shirt and jeans looking that has pockets. He carried a Medical Kit with him in case of an emergency, and he also carried a medical tricorder. He was wearing one of his casual attired that he hoped his fashion sense was not 50 years behind the trend. The Doctor approached the lobby, and he looked at the rest of the Federation Delegation. He recognized most individuals as it was part of his pre-mission briefing. However, he observed that the delegation size was a little smaller than expected. Maybe they would join them later? Jonathan did not think much that some of them were missing. Maybe they partook in the nightlife or had a different assignment. He was, after all, the new person, and he was assigned for this mission. He observed Chief Ozu in the lobby and listened to the Instructions. He needed to walk and talk at the same time. He could not help but chuckle at the comment, do not be overwhelmed at the pomp and circumstances. For him, that was a daily situation as he learned more and more about the Universe. He walked next to the chief, the only person he knew, and merely greeted. “ Good Morning, Chief. Good Morning Lieutenant Niles Good Morning Captain,” he said to all three of them of them. Both the Captain and the Chief were sitting, but he chooses to remain standing. He then nodded in the direction of the Captain and decided to introduce himself. Wearing casual attire and all the personnel, the Captain and the Security Officer might not even be aware of who he is. " I don't believe we have formerly met. I'm Doctor Hunt; I have been assigned to this mission." He said to them. It was not hard to figure out what type of Doctor he was as he was carrying with him a Medical Kit. Even as she was sharing the spotlight with her grandmother, she was still their Captain, a trusted and (to most) familiar presence. "Good morning," she greeted Lt. Niles and the new guy with characteristic warmth. "I've seen your file, Dr. Hunt, and I'm glad to have you on my crew," the Captain added to the new guy, tactfully neglecting to delve into the unusual parts of that record. Looking around, Judy saw that most of her small contingent was here. Unlike the judge, she didn't have much need for a spectacle to get attention. "As you can all see, we're a smaller group today than we were yesterday, and that's alright. I know this is a much harder mission than the briefings implied, so I appreciate you all being here," she said, speaking softly from her spot on the couch. She was casual and personal, extremely at ease, rather than making any displays of grandeur or power. Estelle, on the other hand, was dealing with the aftermath of her previous stunt. She poked Lt. Niles on the shoulder, gently. "Young man, would you be a doll and help me down?" she enlisted his services. There was no sign of regret to her demeanor, though perhaps she lamented that she had grown so old as to need such help.

[T’Laara - Ambassador Hotel Lobby]
The morning after the dinner in the ballroom, T’Laara made her way to the hotel lobby. She had taken the advice to dress casually, and had exchanged her dress from the night before for comfortable shoes, jeans and a vaguely Vulcan style tunic top.
“Good morning,” she echoed the greeting of the others arriving at the same time, and took a seat. Having little else to say, and not being well acquainted with many of the group, she simply listened quietly as the two older women spoke.
She was quickly growing to share the common distaste for the Caldonians’ illogical caste system and primitive social rules. However, T’Laara was also a little bit curious to go on the walking tour and see the rest of the city. Whatever happened, it looked like it would be an interesting day.

[ MCPO Ozu Saya - Lobby - Ambassador Hotel] Saya offered a polite nod to each of the others as they arrived, adding, ' Good morning, Lt. Niles, Doctor,' in response to their greetings. When T'Laara sat, Saya watched her surreptitiously. She rarely interacted with full Vulcans, simply not having served with many over the years. And to be honest, she had often avoided them in the past, but she knew that T'Laara had had a significant role in helping capture the shrews that had invaded the station, and Saya hadn't had an opportunity to acknowledge that assistance. Rising, she strode to stand beside the other woman's chair, maintaining a respectful distance and clasping her hands behind her back. ' Greetings, T'Laara. I have not had an opportunity to speak with you previously. I wanted to express my gratitude and respect for the work you and your team did in capturing the shrews aboard the station without resorting to exterminating them. You all preformed exceptionally well under trying circumstances.' Saya naturally fell into Vulcan speech patterns, an old habit when speaking with other Vulcans that she'd never been able to break. ---------- Soft tags to the group, tag Shavan Th'zhaar

[Ambassador Hotel Lobby] Hunt listened to the Captain and she mentioned that she saw his file. The man looked down for a second and blushed his cheeks for a second. He was not sure what to say other than it was good to be back on duty. “ Thank you, Captain. It’s good to be back on duty” He said with a polite bow and back away. The Doctor would back away from the Captain and stood in a corner waiting to follow the group. As long as he was not needed things were going fine. The only thing that he would be useful on the team was a Medical Emergency or a Medical Opinion. However, given the rigidity of their structure and his label as a skilled worker any comments he might make could be politically charged. Tag Judith Eastman

[ Lt Joshua Niles - Lobby, Ambassador Hotel ]With the other arrivals to their little party, which was basically going to be taking a tourist expedition and turning it into an exercise in multitasking and mental flexibility, Niles found himself wondering why he hadn't just claimed illness, or found a reason to go back to the Mac. Hell, for the first time he found himself hoping that the Petty Officer who'd given him such a hard time when the Tactical Officer was merely in charge of a single torpedo bay on top of his Bridge duties would find a way to screw up that would require his immediate attention... However, he had no such luck. "Doctor," he simply replied by way of introducing himself, before turning his attention to the Andorian-Orion hybrid and the Vulcan. "T'Laara, good morning" While he'd never worked with her, he had made a point to learn the various members of their little delegation, if only should something wind up happening. And then, a bony finger poked at his shoulder, and the Judge requested assistance in descending from her perch. Well then, that was also not part of anything he had expected all right! "Of course, Your Honour," he replied before reaching up with one hand, keeping the other held back to steady the wizened jurist some more should she stumble.

[Capt. Judith Eastman(-Williams), the Hon. Judge Estelle Roth, & Yatin - Lobby, Ambassador Hotel -> Research Boulevard]"Thank you, darling," Estelle took the hand and climbed off the coffee table without further incident. Her platform shoes, and wooden cane, were hard on the Caldonian carpet, but there she was, triumphant. She also admired her granddaughter's laid-back composure. The younger woman's height made it easy, but she seemed to be at home in this role, and that was the kind of thing that made Estelle, as a grandmother, very proud indeed. Judy, having finished her address, took out her reading glasses and a PADD, and pulled up the front page of the New York Times. The headlines indicated that the President had made a major faux pas, eating pizza with a fork, that could really hurt him with human voters. There was also the sports section, proclaiming a predictable defeat of the Knicks, a basketball team that, in almost half a millennium of play, seemed to very consistently suck. Subtly, she also kept an eye on Saya and T'Laara: Mabel had spoken fondly of the Vulcan, but Judy still worried (in her motherly way) about Saya's awkwardness with the species. Against that backdrop, Yatin made his entrance, in a tan suit of a typical Terran cut. "Good morning, my friends!" he proclaimed. "Captain, how are you today?"Judy pushed her readers down her nose, and peered over them. "Quite well, thank you."Realizing that their time was up, she put her readers and PADD back into her gargantuan purse. "Your Honor, a pleasure," Yatin moved on to Estelle, making a show of kissing the ancient woman's wizened hand, and avoiding the strap of her handbag (Judy's penchant for massive purses was clearly inherited). "Let's move it," she directed. Having had her hand kissed many times, she knew courtesy from tuchus-leckery[fn]Yiddish: ass-kissing[/fn]. "Of course, ma'am. Let's move."Yatin led them out, onto Research Boulevard, a broad, tree-lined street crossing the city, just over two-thirds of which was reserved for pedestrians (the remainder was for two-way hovercar traffic). It was flanked by massive, glassy skyscrapers, and yet was plentifully illuminated. "This is Research Boulevard, the main street of Caldonia. It connects the main capital dome, and the Knowledge Building right here, to the auxiliary dome, where our labs are," the Caldonian diplomat explained. Stepping out, Judy immediately whipped a pair of cat-eye sunglasses out of her purse, and put them on. "I think using sunscreen was the right choice," she quipped to Dr. Hunt, regarding the light and the glare.

[ T'Laara - Ambassador Hotel Lobby -> Research Boulevard] T’Laara nodded to the human man who had returned her greeting- Lieutenant Niles, if she remembered correctly. However, before she could attempt to engage him in conversation, he was called away, and she was approached by Chief Ozu. She turned to the other Vulcan woman as she formally thanked her for helping with the Caldonian shrews. T’Laara inclined her head in acceptance. “Thank you. I was simply doing what I could to help. It was logical thing to do, should I wish to remain residing on the station as normal. However, it has been an interesting experience working with the shrews.” she replied, getting up and walking next to her as the group started to leave the hotel. There had been no way to anticipate the chain of events that had started with an ordinary day in the park and ended up here. Nevertheless, she did appreciate the gesture. “If thanks are being given, we should also all be thanking you for organizing the repairs as efficiently as you have.”The group departed the hotel and steeped out onto Research Boulevard. T'Laara looked around with interest, impressed at the beautiful city around them. tag Ozu Saya , soft tag everyone

[Chief Baram - Research Boulevard]
While there were a decent number of Kurjarians who lived in the great domed cities of Caldonia, mainly in the dirty low skilled jobs, the apartheid laws of the Technocracy meant they were still barred from entering certain buildings and even entire sections of the city without permission. Usually the district Research Boulevard was in was off limits, however Baram and his two companions were given an exemption for todays negotiations. They were still not allowed into the hotel itself, however. The trio of Kurjarians had been waiting outside for about half an hour for the tour to begin. "Good morning, Captain," he said as the group emerged. He looked at Yaltin but did not address him, as was custom for a Kurjarian in the presence of a High Academic.

[Lobby Ambassador Hotel --> Research Blv.] Jonathan did not have much to say to the rest of the team before they departed. Some new people joined at the last minute, but it was clear with his Medical Pack that he was Medical personnel. He observed the individual named Yatin, the one that hosted the dinner the night before. He observed how he was asked many questions about the caste system and how unfair it is. Some members in the Federation have class and caste systems; however, the rigidity of this one might be an issue. In the back of his mind, he wondered how does this affect their Medical Infrastructure. He hypnotized that the closest analogy that he could come up with was some of the countries in ancient earth that had a fractured Medical Infrastructure where there was care for many individuals. Still, the classes and wealth were a major factor in determining the quality and state of the art care. He figured that this would be discussed at some point, but the wheels were turning in the back of his mind. As he walked out of the hotel, he observed how bright it was outside. He would have loved to wear sunglasses. He heard the Captain’s comment about her choice of wearing sunscreen. He watched the Captain, and she placed her sunglasses on. He observed the Skyscrapers and the illumination, and for a second, he was blinded by how bright it was. It took a second for his eyes to adjust and observe that they were heavily leaning pedestrian society. His theory would be that they are heavily leaning towards a Transporter society, but he could be mistaken. “ Agreed, Captain.” He responded to her statement about the sunblock. “ May I say that it was also a good idea to bring those Sunglasses?” He asked. He was not sure how formal the Captain wanted to be, or his role would be. At so he would be formal and do his duties. He muttered to himself, “They would have been a huge fan of the lens flare generator era.” “ Captain, may I give you a question for the Delegation? I don’t want to speak out of place, and more importantly, since I am a skilled worker, there is a possibility that any question from a skilled worker to an Academic might be offensive, which is not in the best interest of the mission”. Hunt commented. As much as he wanted to ask about the transportation infrastructure, he understood that appearance and diplomacy matters a lot in politics. The mission comes first before his intellectual curiosity. The second delegation's arrival and the lack of comment reinforced Hunt’s theory that he might be right. The Prime Directive meant it was not their place to change their custom and norms. He merely needed to follow them. He bows a greeting to the second delegation as a sign of him accepting the question. Tag Judith Eastman

[Hetav, Ex-Chief of Clan Relar - Ambassador Hotel > Research Blvd.]The wheezing was not quiet. The overweight, middle-aged former clan chief was sweating profusely and his chest was heaving as he flung himself from the hotel lobby and out into the bright streets. Seeing the back of the departing group, he grunted, rolled his eyes, and legged it after them. "Ex... cuse... me!" He breathed heavily, his arm flying out to grasp the nearest group member in effort to steady himself. He leaned over, hands on his knees and tried to get his breath back. "A thousand..." Ragged breath in, short breath out. "Apologies." Yatin was saying something about the labs, and a few of the others were engaged in several conversations. He grinned broadly at them as he tried to straighten up. Hetav had partaken a little too much in the celebrations the night previous. He'd eaten not only his own dinner, but several others', too. He didn't see the harm; they'd all walked out and left it behind. Kurjarians would never dare to be so wasteful when presented with such a bounty. He'd been disturbed. So disturbed, in fact, that he'd enjoyed every single helping of abandoned dessert. Unfortunately, that had resulted in a food coma, which his wife had been unable to stir him from for quite some time. "Ah, greetings fellow Skilled Worker," he said to the not-hunter from the day before. Then, catching sight of his favourite chief engineer, he approached her. One last intact bead of sweat dripped from his bulbous nose. "Allow me to escort you!"

T'Laara looked around with interest, impressed at the beautiful city around them. tag Ozu Saya , soft tag everyone [Chief Baram - Research Boulevard]
Tag: Judith Eastman , soft tag all [Lobby Ambassador Hotel --> Research Blv.] Jonathan did not have much to say to the rest of the team before they departed. Tag Judith Eastman [Hetav, Ex-Chief of Clan Relar - Ambassador Hotel > Research Blvd.]The wheezing was not quiet.

[ Lt Joshua Niles - Research Blvd, Caldonia ]From what little contact he had had with Yatin, Niles did not much care for the man. There was something of the High Academic that really rubbed the Lieutenant the wrong way, and he'd found himself glad that his caste assignment had kept him as far as possible from him. Which probably was a good thing; slavery was anathema to the Federation, and knowing that his caste assignment had the connotation of jackbooted enforcer on Caldonia rather than a protector still rankled. And when they came out of the climate-controlled and managed brightness of the hotel, he found himself assailed by the sheer brightness of the outside; one thing for certain, he did not spend enough time dirtside anywhere to ever really get accustomed to open skies and the brightness of a planet's primary. If anything, he probably would turn into one of those officers who'd never accept a shore posting and would do everything in his power to remain surrounded by vacuum. And, blinded as he was, he blinked hard to clear his vision, only to open his eyes at the sight of being greeted by Baram; and just then, the Tactical Officer found himself wondering just how much could be added to the day's displeasure. At this point, dealing with a terrorist attack, a Borg incursion or do a full audit of all Tactical systems and personnel without an administrative assistant might almost seem to be a marked improvement. Baram's oiliness, even at a remove, left him feeling like he needed a shower. And speaking of oiliness, the other Kurjarian who joined them was actually seeming oily, between his stature and the fact he was dripping sweat like a freshly drawn pint on a patio at the height of his native Kingston's muggy summers. At least that, had been at least a remotely amusing sight, and he tried to get himself introduced, apparently again, to the physician. However, Niles fairly expected that he was there to be seen and not heard for the time being, and he tried to ignore the fact that this gleaming city that would be right at home on many Federation worlds had likely been built through slave labour...
Softies to all.
