{Quoted Posts} [NPC - Fatax - Brig]With security now present, Fatax could relax. The guard's ire would be on Avi, and she'd be kept from hurting him and his magnificent lobes. "Oh, if you knew what the Klingons were up to," he teased, dangling some knowledge, or gossip. "If only you knew..."Fatax was amazed, quite frankly, that Ellis and now Eastman had failed to bring them down. Perry was less surprising, but still. [Ens. Brad Stout - Front Ear - Brig]Brad struggled to resist the urge to roll his eyes when Avi demanded information about a Klingon - likely the one she'd gotten into a fight with at the Blue Beta. "Look Moz, I just got here," he replied, unable to keep the irritation out of his voice. "I don't know why they decided not to book your Klingon friend. Your release hasn't been approved yet, so you might as well get comfortable. If you ask nicely, I'm sure Mr. Fatax will be happy to tell you a bedtime story." As if on cue, the Ferengi spoke teasingly, clearly excited to finally have a cellmate to talk to. Stout said nothing more, picking up a PADD and wandering to the wall to lean up against it, reading the reports that the prior shifts had left while still keeping an ear on the conversation. This was his favorite part of the job - pretend to not be paying attention, and listen to the prisoners' gossip. Anything of note got tossed up the chain of command for them to sort out fact from fiction and investigate what concerned them. [ Avi Moz | Brig ]Avi dipped her knees and groaned in frustration. The guard blew her off and she could tell he'd be impervious to demands to call his boss down. She was stuck and Jurgha was strutting around free and - shit! Mott. Avi turned away from the force field and ran her hands over her bald head. She'd just have to wait it out. "Fine. What are the Klingons up to," Avi asked Fatax with a resigned sigh. Then sh sat down on the bed to sulk. There was a shred of possibility the Ferengi wasn't entirely full of impulse exhaust and had information that could help Avi get back from Jurgha was she was owed. [ Jurgha, daughter of Khar - Storage Room, Blue Beta] The man admitted that gagh did not agree with him, but he was trying to keep it down anyway, which was more than most aliens could say. Jurgha laughed. “You should keep trying, give it a chance… someday, you might be able to keep down as much as a Klingon baby.” He then tried to turn the conversation to laugh at Durwot’s expense rather than his own, but Jurgha was happy to do both. It was all in good fun, and something to do while they waited. “Ha! As if!” The idea of Durwot truly being of a great house and ordering people around was laughable. She was a little more doubtful of the captain’s idea that “The Tusk” would be caught for assault, but it was still early in their operation. Maybe she would be proven right. “We have seen their faces now. It would be easier to just smash their skulls in and be done with it!” As someone whose job was to enforce the law, which Klingons did have, she knew full well that this was just wishful thinking… but still. She shifted impatiently and chewed the mints loudly. [Gregory Ellis - Storage Room, Blue Beta]Greg laughed at the klingon's jibe, appreciating that he likely had an even lower level constitution than a baby. Considering that he was human and that an overwhelming majority of alien foods could damage him, and in many cases, straight up kill him, the comparison made total sense. He wasn't sure he'd be partaking in gagh again in a hurry, though perhaps with that sauce the others had mentioned it could be a different experience... No. Madness. He bit down on the mint and then chewed, though not as loudly as Jurgha was. At the Captain's comment, he raised a brow and leaned back on his chair. "Capone this guy ain't," he returned, his finger pointing at the individual on the viewscreen. He had been displeased, to say the least, to find out this kind of thing was going down on the Station. There were criminals everywhere, of course, and citizens with questionable morals and ways of making a living, but this one had irked him. "Or we could see what else we can learn from them, just in case there are more of them, or likely to be more of them in the future. And then we could smash their skulls in."Greg thought it was a good compromise, and he couldn't help but smile a little. It was good not to have to be so diplomatic with his words any more. Being ex-Fleet did sometimes have its perks. He watched the two undercover officers and had to admit that the one called S'Riia in particular looked the part. "Tell us more about your people, Captain?" He asked, genuinely curious, and feeling a need to know if there were certain tells they should be watching out for. [Capt. Judith Eastman(-Williams) - Storage Room, Blue Beta]Truth be told, Judy shared Jurgha's sentiment. In her heart, the old woman was an engineer, fond of common-sense solutions and Occam's razor, and not of cat-and-mouse games. However, she was also a devotee of the law and of process, and Greg was right that there was valuable information to get. She let the matter sit, and instead answered Greg's question about their people. "Chief Melihn, the Trill... well, Trill-Bajoran hybrid, under that false nose, she's an old pro. She's a sniper by trade, but she used to be the Chief of Security. The Caitian, S'Riia, is another talented one. Cool head, good judgement, went through some of the worst things this crew has been through and came out kicking. We did give them a safe word, and that's pasta."As Tusk and Bolt spoke, mostly to Durwot, Judy eyed her two companions. She wanted to see what they made of this, and what they might want to look into.

[ Jurgha, daughter of Khar - Storage Room, Blue Beta] Jurgha grunted in agreement with Greg, who was in fact starting to grow on her. “Fine. The skull-smashing can wait. For now.” She rested her chin in her hands, glaring at the monitor for a moment. It could wait… but not forever. She scoffed at Durwot’s none too subtle approach. Then narrowed her eyes as she actually started listening, and caught what one of them said. Did he only mention Cait because of the Caitain Fleeter, or was he speaking firsthand? Maybe the idiot had already given them some information. “If they are operating out of Cait, we should investigate. That could be where we track down the rest of the petaQs.”Charlie Fox Judith Eastman

{Quoted Posts} [SCPO Melihn Ryah - Blue Beta] Other than slightly compressing her lips and squeezing her hands behind her back, Ryah didn't respond to the mocking of Durwot and Klopar. She was, after all, playing a servant, and she might as well be a decent one. Ryah narrowed her eyes as their marks approached and commented disparagingly about her and S'Riia, then offered a fake sweet smile to each before asking, ' Bloodwine for the table, ma'am? It seemed like the kind of thing a servant would do, go retrieve the drinks instead of waiting for a waiter to come to them. [Durwot, son of Sh'root - Blue Beta Bar]
At least half of Durwot's servants seemed to be slowly getting the hang of it, he thought as Ryah offered to go and collect some wine. The Caitian however continued to be disobedient. 'The Tusk' then arrived before Durwot could discipline her further. "I am Durwot, son of Sh'root!" he proudly confirmed. The Tusk kwore many battle scars, no doubt he was a formidable warrior. "It is an honour to meet you, Tusk!" his companion, Bolt seemed far less worthy of respect. He did, however, make an astute observation. "Yes, I am in the market for replacements," he said before laughing, "I kid, I kid, of course. That would not be legal," he said to Bolt before turning his head towards Tusk and offering a sly look and wink, implying he was in fact in the market but just did not want to openly admit it. That would hopefully solidify their cover and earn some trust. [NPCs - Capt. Klopar, daughter of Krak, Wetrogh "The Tusk", son of Grerohk, & Dril "Bolt", son of Gak - Blue Beta Bar & Grill]"Yes, fetch the finest vintage they have," Klopar accepted Ryah's offer, though it seemed like an attempt to escape. Oh, well, the Starfleeters were hardly renowned for their hardiness. The Tusk chuckled at the felinoid one's antics. Oh, it sure was feisty. "That beast seems fierce," he complimented Durwot, reaching out to stroke her fur. "And soft."Bolt perked up. "I hear the labor market on Cait is good for businessmen like you," he said. However, the economy on Cait was currently booming, having recovered from the PooDoo flu pandemic of '78[fn]The one that was Sir Doug's fault[/fn], so whatever labor market "Bolt" spoke of, it wasn't the legal one. [NPC - PO1 S'Riia - Blue Beta Bar, Promenade, Front Ear Station ] The word beast was thrown about so casually among the Klingons. However, from Tusk's response, it seemed he approved of S'Riia's defiance. Not necessarily the act of defying, but perhaps the venom in her actions. The half-Caitian thought it best to play into it. As he reached out to touch her fur, she allowed it, but only for a moment before jerking her head away from his touch, and carefully shifting behind Durwot. Perhaps a taste of obedience... or loyalty would make them think even more of the son of Sh'root. Her eyes glared back at Tusk, but shifted to Bolt as he spoke about the labor market on Cait. S'Riia's eyes narrowed with a hint of contempt, but only briefly. She continued to watch the two Klingons, before asking. "Shall I assist her with the bloodwine, Master?" S'Riia asked. Perhaps by removing herself as the topic of conversation, their discussion would shift to the topic at hand.

[Blue Beta - Promenade] As much as Lea wanted to just focus on Riyo and enjoy their lunch, it wasn't as easy as she had hoped. Try as she might to tune everything out, there was still residual background emotions as if everyone was slightly on edge. That was to be expected considering the operation that was now under way and yet couldn't help but grin as Riyo joked lightly about the food and those in the kitchen. " I agree, although the bar could be on fire... oh wait it has been and the kitchen have still produced what they can. Put it this way we've survived a lot ever since Sierra".It was true, they had survived numerous bad experiences over the years, including having the bar completely destroyed but they had always come back fighting. So a bar fight and a sting operation was nothing really and the good memories always outweighed the bad. Even so as Klopar and the others met with those they were attempting to bring down, emotions seemed to heighten further as Riyo kept the conversation going, knowing how difficult it was not to intervene but she was confident that they could keep pretending that they didn't know anything. " I was thinking that we could go for a walk, maybe to the park?".Of course there were other suggestions that she could of made but at the same time, this was about making the most of their time off together from work and being child free.
Tag Jovireh Velal [Lt. Paawin Riyo - Front Ear - Blue Beta]Riyo smiled and nodded at her suggestion to go to the park. While they frequently went there with the kids, it wasn't often they went just the two of them. "That does sound nice and relaxing," he replied, taking another drink and turning back to his food. It was difficult not to be nosy and try to listen in on the Klingon's conversation, but they weren't quite close enough for him to pick out more than a couple words, and he didn't want to do anything that might be noticed and risk their operation.

[Blue Beta - Promenade] As things progressed with the Klingons and the two disguised Starfleet Officers. Leanna knew better than trying to listen too much to what was being said or observe them in any way that might draw the wrong kind of attention. However it wasn't so easy to block the emotions that were coming off of the group, despite her best efforts. Until this was over and the powers that be, got what they needed to hopefully put an end to this. Lea decided to let her abilities run in the background as opposed to raising her mental shields completely. Hoping to pick up on something that might prove useful as Riyo smiled and answered her. Grinning slightly as she reached for her drink again, Lea looked at Riyo as she spoke. " It definitely does and a nice way to break up the rest of our day, before we decide what to do later".There was a hint of teasing in her response as she was determined not to let the current situation detract from being herself and having this time with Riyo.

[NPCs - Capt. Klopar, daughter of Krak, Wetrogh "The Tusk", son of Grerohk, & Dril "Bolt", son of Gak - Blue Beta Bar & Grill]Durwot was, clearly, having fun with it all, and why shouldn't he? Unlike their staid Starfleet colleagues, the Klingons knew to mix business with pleasure. "We can order you some milk to drink, if you'd rather be a baby," Klopar herself taunted, before the group was approached by two other Klingons. "Call me the Tusk," the bigger, older one announced. "This is my butler, Bolt. You must be the son of Sh'root.""The Tusk", who unbeknownst to the others was called Wetrogh, bore the scars of many battles, a fierce warrior if ever there was one. "Bolt", whom Starfleet intelligence believed was in fact called Dril, was a more timid, diminutive fellow, by Klingon standards. "It seems you are not good enough for your master," he taunted the Trill and Caitian servants. "Else they wouldn't have turned to us for replacements.""Bolt" knew well enough what this business was, though he spoke in hints. It wouldn't do to reveal their involvement in the slave trade just like that. Isaiah Quinn [Durwot, son of Sh'root - Blue Beta Bar]

Tag: Judith Eastman, Ozu Saya, Isaiah Quinn[NPC - PO1 S'Riia - Blue Beta Bar, Promenade, Front Ear Station ] It was official: S'Riia wasn't a fan of undercover missions. At least not undercover at the beck and call of these Klingons. Suffice it to say, they played their roles all too well. They hadn't wasted any time making fun of Ryah, who'd undergone quite the makeover. Nor had S'Riia been spared, as Durwot called her a beast. A low growl of frustration left her lips at the word, but not much else. S'Riia had followed Ryah's lead in making over her appearance. She had died the fur on her head, hands, tail and her hair as well, black. She had even slipped in some contacts giving her yellow eyes as well. She had decided to go with black catsuit. The irony was not lost on her. It didn't leave to the imagination, nor did it leave many places to conceal a weapon. However, she a belt which held a dagger on one side and a non-Starfleet sidearm on the other. Her hair had been straightened and pulled back.

The selling of intelligent beings for, well, for any reason, was disgusting. She was going to have to spend some extra time in the sonic shower to feel clean after this. Maybe a scalding water shower, too. She headed for the bar, smiling thinly at Jack as she approached. Ryah wasn't sure how much the staff of the bar had been told, but knew he'd probably recognize that she wasn't there in her usual capacity as security or as a patron on her own. ' Your best vintage of bloodwine for the table there,' she said pointing at the Klingons and raising her voice so that they'd be able to hear that she'd followed her instructions. Under her breath she added, ' Can we add a tranquilizer to it?' Jack grinned and reached under the bar, pulling out a couple of bottles and setting them on a tray along with the obligatory metal cups. Ryah balanced the heavy tray carefully and started back to the table. ---------- Tag Judith Eastman, Matthew Harmon, Isaiah Quinn Soft tags Leanna Mazal and Jovireh Velal

That could be where we track down the rest of the petaQs.” [Gregory Ellis - Storage Room, Blue Beta]Greg listened to the Captain's rundown of her people, both pleased but also somehow unsurprised that her opinion of them was so high. He would expect the best people available for the job to be put forward, though trust was hugely important in any operation, most especially one that was required with little notice for preparation. Then, he arched a brow. "Pasta?" He asked, obviously amused. "What a seamless and completely subtle safe word." He'd once used "beetlejuice" in an Op from his younger days, so he couldn't talk. He, like Jurgha, became interested in the mention of Cait. He dropped his feet softly to the floor and leaned forward, toward the portable console set up that had been hastily rigged together in the cramped storage room. He began tapping out a couple of key words for a search. Luckily, Judy trusted him enough to give him the access required for a little sleuthing, despite the fact that he was no longer strictly Fleet. "Agreed," he said in response to the Klingon's sentiments. "Let's see if we can find any sign of our friends there."He cross-referenced local authority reports from the main ports first, then widened the net just a little to include media mentions. "Tusk and Bolt are names that have both come under scrutiny on Cait lately." He pulled up and enlarged the mentions, then shared them to other, smaller screens, careful not to interrupt the feed from the bar. "One is mentioned in this witness statement, the other was actually detained for a short time before being released - lack of evidence to hold."

[Durwot, son of Sh’root - Blue Beta] “She is,” he agreed when Tusk noticed her ferocity. “I will keep an eye out for any merchandise that strikes my fancy,” he responded as Bolt spoke. When S’Riia suggested helping with the bloodwine said nothing, instead waving his hand to signal for her to join Ryah. Soon Ryah began to return with the bloodwine. “So, shall we get down to business?” He asked as he took a cup of bloodwine. Tag: Judith Eastman, Ozu Saya, Isaiah Quinn

"Took your precious time."She didn't want to be mean, but it was simply necessary for the role to be a complete asshole. The Tusk remained focused on Durwot, accepting that a sentient pet was bound not to be quite as succulent as a good targ. "Yes, son of Sh'root, business. What kind of workforce is suited to your business?" he asked, unfamiliar with agriculture. Bolt, meanwhile, leaned in towards the servants, a bit bored. "Are they always like this?" he whispered.

Judith Eastman(-Williams) - Storage Room, Blue Beta]For the first time, they seemed to have some Federation-Klingon synergy, with Greg and Jurgha thinking in a similar vein. "That's very interesting," she mused, pulling up reports on her own PADDs. "Intel suspects they know Bolt's real name: Dril, son of Gak. Apparently he's a 73.8% facial match, with the main disparity being the nose."Sure enough, but unbeknownst to Judy or Intelligence, Dril/Bolt had gotten a nose job. "Jurgha, look more into our friend Dril. Greg, keep digging into Cait, and the crimes these guys are tied to."Judy herself kept her bespectacled eyes trained on the monitors, paying attention to the operation.

[ Jurgha, daughter of Khar - Storage Room, Blue Beta] Having no argument for the moment, Jurgha pulled up a portable computer screen of her own, to do some preliminary investigating. She glanced up, and scoffed, as those that they were supposed to be observing partook of the bloodwine and gave no new information. Then her attention was caught as the search she had run began to turn up some results. The name Dril, son of Gak was one that did indeed come up in the Empire’s customs records. “Could be a fake nose. Just like your half Bajoran.” As much as she would rather be somewhere else, there was a job to do. Despite any evidence to the contrary that the Federationers might perceive, she did take it seriously on occasion. Jurgha typed into the PADD, making some corrections and further searches. “Dril has been reported as a suspect in smuggling operations out of Qo’nos multiple times. He was arrested in 2377, but again, had to be let go over lack of evidence. If we can prove that is indeed ‘Bolt’ and connect him to crimes on Cait as well, it could be enough to reopen the case.” And then Jurgha could reopen the case of bloodwine and be done with it. Too many had to be let go over "lack of evidence". These two would not be anymore, if she had anything to do with it. Charlie Fox Judith Eastman
