[ Lt. jg Aravis - Unknown Planet - Runabout] Aravis was still extremely confused by the presence of the civilian, but since the XO seemed to know the woman, the pilot decided it was none of her business and not worth worrying about in that moment. Instead, she followed Sven to the rear compartment to see if she could help him, shuddering as the sound of tiny feet became louder and louder as the creatures engulfed the runabout. When the security chief asked for a bobby pin, she gave him a slight smile and pulled a pin from her hair where she always had to hold down a few flyaways. ---------- Tag Carlisle , Thea Baker , Sven Aune |Runabout Roundabout, Aft compartment. || lt. cmdr. Sven Aune |The large man looked overhead as the ominous sound of critters swarmed over the vessel. It sent a shiver down his spine. He took the bobby pin from Aravis. "Thank you." he said as he bent it into a U-shape. "When I cross the contacts with the pin, there's going to be some fireworks. I'll need you to access the LCARS panel and reroute about 10% of the auxiliary power into the batteries." This procedure was going to blow a battery, but better that than his brain. He took a deep breath, touched one end of the pin to a bare contact lead. "Ready?"He touch the other end. There was a shower of sparks and the compartment was filled with the acrid smell of ozone, and Sven grunted in pain. The lights flickered in the craft as the shields were jumped and the welcoming hum of the now operational shield generator filled in around them. Along with the stench of burnt flesh. Sven held his blackened fingers, his arms trembling and twitching from the electrical energy that coursed through his body. The shields were up. But at what cost. He knew that Saya was going to murder him later. Tags Thea Baker@ozysaya Jovireh VelalCarlisle[Roundabout - Unknown Planet] Hearing the crackle from the sparks, followed by the acrid smoke that began filling the cabin, told Thea that Sven had been successful in raising the shields. However the grunt of pain instantly made her turn as the Doctor within began to visually check over the Security Chief. " I'm going to have to check you over, Chief, I think we might have another medkit in the ship".That was assuming that they hadn't all been transferred to the clearing when they had been forced to initially abandon the runabout. Then again with any luck, Hunt and the others would be back soon and she could get him to check over Sven. Either way he wouldn't have to suffer for too long, especially when the viewport cleared, leaving the natural light to shine in once more. " The creatures have gone but that doesn't mean that they won't come back. I'll contact the others and advise them of this turn of events and get an ETA on their arrival so we can try to get out of here".Tapping her badge, their was a sense of urgency in Thea's voice as she activated the channel. =/\= Baker to exploration team, the creatures have gone and I believe that they didn't particularly like our shields. I recommend that we try to leave before they come back, what's your ETA? =/\=
Tag all [ Lt. jg Aravis - Unknown Planet] Aravis' eyes widened as the security officer, who apparently also had some engineering knowledge, essentially electrocuted himself to get the shields up. But it was effective. She'd almost not had time to follow his instructions before he completed the action. Now, Commander Baker was checking him out, so Aravis hurried to the main console and started checking readings. She glanced through the blessedly clear view screen and called out, ' They're here, Commander! Right on the edge of the clearing.' She grimaced down at the readout, then glanced at the civilian who seemed to know something about Starfleet runabouts. ' Um, could you keep an eye on the power levels, please?
'Commander, I'm going to start the engine warm-up sequence. They seem to be in good enough shape. I just still don't know what caused the crash.
When the rest of the team gets closer, I'll drop the shields long enough for them to get aboard.' ---------- Tags to all

Sven was grateful for the doctors ministrations. And he was grateful that the shields were still operational. He thanked Thea for the work she had done, but his hand hurt al lot. The fingers were black and charred, venerable to infection and his arm was still twitching uncontrollably from the electric shock. He didn't say anything else. His throat was dry and raspy so he contented himself by sitting in a seat, ready to get off this planet.

[Roundabout - Unknown Planet]
The news from Aravis was like music to Thea's ears, especially knowing that the others had reached them without further incident. Not only was everyone about to be reunited but having the flight officer begin the warm up sequence and potentially be able to get them off this strange planet was an added bonus. " Keep me updated and understood, hopefully they won't take too long to get closer" she replied as Sven took a seat.
Not that she blamed him for doing so until either her or Hunt could get a proper look at his injuries. Now it was just a waiting game until everyone got onto the Roundabout. Time seemed to tick by, before Aravis dropped the shields and they heard some more good news.
" Everyone secure yourselves as things might get a little bumpy but at least we're going home" she instructed as they received confirmation of the data packet.

{Quoted Posts} [Runabout - Unknown Planet] [...]
=/\= Be advised, these creatures are now surrounding the Runabout so approach with caution... Thea paused to ask those with her about the sensors. " Could one of you check the sensors and start scanning for psionic energy, it could give us answers about why we've been attacked". =/\= Stay safe Commander and we'll see you all shortly, will keep you appraised about what we find, Baker out =/\=[Jungle – Location ] He listened to the Chief Science Officer as he mentioned that the possibility of the being not being sentient but reacting to different environments. He understood basic principles of Science from his Medical degree but he was hardly an expert most of the fields. Their conversation was interrupted as they heard a distress signal coming from the camp. He listened and remained silent as he waited for his orders. As he heard the Commander staying they are heading back. The Doctor merely nodded as he listened to his orders. “ Let’s not forget out objective” Hunt said. As he stopped for a second and collected the Fruit Samples. He placed some of them in his bag as they would be able to study them in detail like the bacteria. He listened to the Commander and began thinking “ Almost any being that is energy resistant or energy absorbent would be harder to kill with phasers like the Armus” Hunt mentioned as the solution might be to switch either weapons to conventional or rather change the approach. “ It would be hard to determine without a detailed scan and analysis. If I could get close enough I might be able to figure something out” Hunt said as he would need to do a detail scan to get a better idea. [PO2 Jovireh Velal - Unknown Planet - Jungle]Jovireh watched as Hunt successfully grabbed a few samples to make the mission worthwhile, and noted with slight envy how the brambles constricted and lashed out towards him, but missed their mark each time. Lucky him knew what to expect and could prepare for it. Her hand flexed slightly, recalling the lingering pain in her wrist. Being the bait was part of her job though, she knew that coming here. Her attention turned back to Quinn when he asked her and Duff for ideas on how to disperse the mass surrounding the runabout. "Difficult to say without knowing exactly what it is... But we can try something more solid. Rocks or tree branches. May not hurt it, but if we come at it from different sides we might at least be able to run it off." In her experience... if something didn't respond to energy attacks - such as phasers - then physical attacks usually worked. And vice versa. Galaxy-wide evolution hadn't had a chance to adapt to both.
Meanwhile... the moment the shields activated, the sounds outside the runabout instantly silenced, and the blackness fell away from the viewport.
The constant buzzing in the telepath's mind once more shifted into a shrill shriek, this time drawing a strangled cry from her throat as she doubled over and clutched at her head. This time there was a sensation that came with it, and an icy feeling of dread crept through her as she gasped against the pain. It only lasted a moment before the shriek faded once more into a dull buzz, but the pounding headache and rush of adrenaline it had caused lingered. "We have to go. Now!" Her voice shook as she slowly straightened, pausing just long enough to let the stars clear from her vision before she started back the way they had come, taking point as she had on the way in. She couldn't describe the sudden urgency she felt, and only hoped that if Quinn wanted answers, he'd be willing to get them once they were back at the clearing. The Petty Officer had only taken a few steps when there was an audible buzzing coming from the midst of the berry thicket behind them. In a matter of moments, a wave of the wasp-like creatures flew from amidst the brambles, flying aggressively towards the away team. Apparently they had overstayed their welcome. "Let's move!" she called out to the others, and quickly headed down the path they had forged on their way through. She didn't stop until she had reached the edge of the clearing. The wasps had followed them the entire way, but so long as the team kept moving, they didn't get within arms' reach. Jovireh couldn't help but feel like they were being herded - by insects no less - and could only hope that they were intending to make them leave, rather than rounding them up for a slaughter. Her head was pounding, and her vision blurred if she looked around too quickly, but she had refused to stop until they made it to relative safety. As she crossed the treeline into the clearing, she looked behind her to make sure everyone else was there, and noticed that their pursuers had stopped about a meter behind them. She wished she knew if that was a good sign or not. The immediate threat paused, Jovireh turned towards the runabout, noticing there was no sign of the mass that Thea had indicated. There was nothing surrounding the runabout, nothing in the clearing that hadn't been there before they left. She reached for her tricorder to scan the area, but stopped when she saw movement amongst the trees across from her. All along the treeline, more flying insects appeared, hovering just beyond the clearing, and completely surrounding them. The pressure in her mind suddenly spiked once more, driving her to her knees. "Get to the runabout!" she told the others through clenched teeth. A thin sheen of sweat broke out across her face as she struggled against the pain, staggering to get to back on her feet. Her vision blurred, the white noise in her mind increasing to overpower any audible sounds. [Roundabout - Unknown Planet] [...] Tapping her badge, their was a sense of urgency in Thea's voice as she activated the channel. =/\= Baker to exploration team, the creatures have gone and I believe that they didn't particularly like our shields. I recommend that we try to leave before they come back, what's your ETA? =/\=[Jungle – Location – Getting an intensive workout due to Wasp] Hunt listed to the Petty Officer as she gave them instructions to move as the Warp-like creatures tried to approach them. As they continued their run, Hunt observed the Wasp following them. “ Maybe this would slow them down.” He said as he took a piece of cloth. During the run, he took his phaser and placed it on heat mode. In the run as well focused on what was going on. He took one of the items in the medkits to paralyze limbs in case of fractures. He took the item and wrapped it in the cloth. With great care began to fire the phaser into the cloth piece, hoping that it would get on a low fire. The effect is that he was carrying a makeshift smoke touch in the hope that the smoke would scare the Warp’s like creature away or maybe cause them to hesitate. Hunt did not know if it would work on this planet, but he knew that many animals have an instinct to avoid smoke as it would indicate fire which is a natural enemy of them. They kept the run going as he observed when they reached the clearing that they stopped their pursuit. Soon after, he observed Petty Officer Velal fall as she appeared to have a headache. She asked them to run to the runabout as the path was clear. He stopped for a second and observed her. He then remembers himself as he stayed behind on the ship. The decision altered his life forever. For a second time, he felt slow as he remembered his own feelings as being left behind. He understood the feelings. He stopped and ran back towards Jovireh; he then would try and placed his hands. He would try and give her support. With his smoke shift smoke stick, he said, “ Looks like we are stuck until we get to the end Petty Officer. Do you mind giving me a description of what you are feeling?” The Doctor asked as he debated to give her sedative medication or leave it as is. [Lt. Commander Isaiah Quinn =A= "Acknowledged," =A= Isaiah said as his communication with Thea ended. Dr. Hunt's words about remembering their objective hadn't gone unheard. Though, Isaiah couldn't deny that the safety of their colleagues was likely in contention with completing those objectives. Weighing them against one another, he knew which one would win out. "We can try to collect what we can along the way, but our priority is clear. Let's move."As they moved through the jungle back towards the runabout, Quinn saw to the collection of the samples he had recalled. It was hurried, often with him prepping the containers in mid-stride, but the team did persist in obtaining those samples. Especially, if this was their only opportunity to visit this planet. Of course, they hadn't gone far when it seemed those wasp-like creatures proved to be a threat as well. Petty Officer Velal's urgent call for them to move had definitely gone unchallenged. The race through the jungle continued until they closed on the position of the Roundabout. The mass that they had heard about didn't appear to be anywhere in view. Though, their former pursuers did seem to be catching up with them. Velal insisted that they rush on to the runabout. Though from her kneeling position, he wasn't about to blindly accept her order this time. It was clear that whatever psionic influence had impacted her before was doing so now. "On your feet, PO," Isaiah said as he reached down, his hand trying to help support her back to her feet. Dr. Hunt then fired a phaser blast in the direction of the insects, seeming to deter them before he too moved to help support Velal as they attempted to make their way back towards the runabout. It was then that Thea's voice called out asking for their ETA. =A= "About as quickly as you all can open the door. Be advised... we're coming in under pursuit." =A= The group of Starfleet officers then continued to dash towards the waiting safety of their vessel.
