Fellin touched Riyo's head gently to tilt a little, but paused. "Resign?" Fellin was surprised. "Over that? Over them? I shouldn't laugh, but Riyo, anyone," (he meant Bajorans), "would have done the same given the chance. Hold still a moment." She wasn't great at waiting when she thought the greater good was at stake, but at least he answered her. In her mind it had been a 50/50 chance that he'd ignore her completely. She'd get some kind of answer this way. Even if it was just to be told that she couldn't have one, that'd just translate into another element of the story that painted the Fleet in terrible colours. While she waited, the ping from her PADD and the response from young Rimi was a nice distraction. Charlie grinned; in that moment feeling a bizarre, fleeting kind of kinship with the girl, despite not knowing anything about her. Another notification followed to let her know that Rimi, whose account she'd followed that morning at the murder site, had gone live. That was followed in quick succession by another notification: a message from Josh. She read it greedily, eyes flashing. She had a location. With renewed energy, fueled by the great injustices of the day, Charlie set off toward the gym. She'd reached the entrance to find it empty of Bajorans. =A= "Charlie, this is Josh. Gul Toolame is being held in a conference room right now, and believe me you want to get there and be recording. This is going to make your day. Niles out."=A= What about that Francophile Cardassian could possibly make her day? She arched her brow and considered, though she had already turned on her heel to leave the absurdly named 'Jungle Gym' behind her. She figured Josh could be on the reactive, or maybe dramatic side from time to time, but he would still have a fair idea of the things that could potentially make her day. It was a short list. When she arrived at the Ops HQ she went straight to the conference room, following the temporary printed signage for 'Grandview', Olsen hovering beside her, ever the present and ready companion. "Let's hope this is as good as advertised," she muttered to herself.

At least, this investigation was coming to a close, thankfully. And hopefully that would be the one and only time he would have to play criminal investigator; give him him shipping patterns, piracy trends and ship disappearances to look into and he'll be one happy Tac officer. But have him deal with these things, that may as well be torture! And, well, it would seem that the magic word out of Ito Eka came out. Well, he may have revealed that his power was not endless with regards to this investigation, but he seemed to remember that it was never a good thing to promise more than could be guaranteed; he said he could put in a good word in his report, and given that so far everything had checked out he would be able to do just that. And with things being in motion at this point in time, he had to get moving himself. "No, Petty Officer Jenkins we are staying right here. But I am indeed certain that Miss Fox would be interested in this." Well, that kind of a tip was pushing the edge of what was acceptable, but given that a diplomat was about to be on the receiving end of a security detail and criminal charges that may or may not be waved off through diplomatic immunity? Having the press handy may be a good idea. And, once more, he tapped his commbadge. =A= "Charlie, this is Josh. Gul Toolame is being held in a conference room right now, and believe me you want to get there and be recording. This is going to make your day. Niles out."=A= With that message out, he returned his attention to the interrogation. Well, officially he could not compel her to answer any questions at this time, and she certainly had the right to clam up until a lawyer would be present. But he certainly could... nudge things a little. "PO, call to the station, request one of the JAG get on the next regularly scheduled flight here."That wording was actually very carefully chosen. Of course, access to a lawyer in a timely fashion was a right guaranteed by the Federation; but that didn't mean that one had to throw a wrench into a starbase's flight operations plan by scrambling to find an available shuttle and pilot and somehow not foul up the carefully tuned machine that was an ops plan. So, the next regularly scheduled flight was reasonable, and it would also mean time. "Miss Ito, the next regularly scheduled shuttle will not get here for a little over an hour. However, long before that the Gul will be in custody and will also be interrogated. He will know very quickly you fingered him, and odds are he will also be scrambling to make a deal. The only chance you have to truly be able to cut yourself a good one with the prosecution is if you can prove yourself to be a more valuable witness than he is, and provide us with actionable information and evidence before he spills the beans himself. Of course, you can wait for a lawyer to get here, but by then the Gul could have fed the Captain everything she could possibly want, and it will not be news, not nearly as valuable. You want to be the one to supply the initial lead, not the corroboration, and since our conversation is fully recorded and timestamped I have the means to prove that you are the one to provide us with what we need first. As I said, it is your right to wait until counsel arrives, but the choice is entirely yours."And, with that said, the Lieutenant rose from his chair and made for the coffee pot that had been thankfully brought in and most unhurriedly poured himself a cup and returned to his chair and leaned back once he sat back down. Now, he had to hope she would bite. And, truth be told, he wanted her to, if only from a purely selfish standpoint: he needed the win and to have the bit that would crack the case rather than be the one to find the supporting evidence. He sent a suitable text message up. "I will tell you one thing about the Gul: his motives aren't political. He says he doesn't care about the war crimes."It was now that Jenkins realized what a political mess was unfolding. The Gul was campaigning for elected office, which under the current treaty (post-2375) nullified his immunity for certain crimes. Charlie Fox would have a hell of a time, and there was no telling how Judith Eastman would fare.

Paawin Riyo - Kerelia - Colony Infirmary]Riyo appreciated the gentle understanding of someone who knew. There were plenty enough people who sympathized, who tried to imagine what it had been like, and how they still felt... but only those who went through it could truly know. It felt strange for him to be on the receiving end of the instructions as Fellin aimed the regenerator, but he complied without hesitation. Another soft sigh left his lips in response to the reassurance. "It's not just this." Lea had been very understanding of his past, moreso than he felt he deserved. She knew there had been malicious intent behind his actions, that he'd truly believe he had done what was best for his patients. But this... There was nothing but maliciousness intent. As a doctor, he couldn't control who was around. He couldn't walk away if there was a possibility he might be needed. He couldn't guarantee he would never end up in the same situation again. "They always ask why we can't let go and move on. No body cares that ten years later, the Cardassians continue to act like they still own us." There was bitterness in his voice, blended with defeat. Riyo was tired, and he didn't know how to keep moving forward.

[Eta Borir - Kerelia Colony] Eta barely noticed the time passing. She listened to Syl as she described the events, nodding affirmatively at some points. Sometimes, she would check in, but didn't elaborate on anything the woman wasn't willing to tell. Finally, she too raised her head. "Low tide," she croaked.
When Syl remarked that she should go back to the plaza, Eta nodded, and to the invitation to go with her, the Cardassian responded with a grin. "I will go with you," she said, and stood up. [Ens. Syl O'Connell - Kerelia Colony - Shore --> Pavilion]Syl was glad the Cardassian decided not to stay by herself on the beach, and gave her a smile and nod as she finished brushing off the sand to the best of her ability. The buzz she'd gotten from the wine now regretfully faded away, she made her way up towards the path that they had followed to get there. As they neared the buildings, she couldn't help but noticed everything was far more quiet than she had expected it to be. Had they missed the rest of the ceremony after all? It certainly seemed like it as they turned into the pavilion, to find only a handful of people at the scattered stalls. She stopped and looked around, seeing no sign of Charlie, Kova or Shavan. Weird... Where was everyone? "Ever get the feeling you missed something?" She asked Eta, a bit rhetorically.

Perhaps it Shavan's scent... his proximity... his whispers , or the combination of all three playing a part in this game that was anything but innocent. Yet, it could have been Kova's own anticipation. After all, it had been a while. Still, there was a part of Kova that wondered if Shavan knew all the rules to this little game. He was only half Andorian, but this had always been a game rooted more on instinct than anything else. She could feel his lips, brush ever so lightly against hers. The warmth of his breath washing over her flesh. She gazed into his eyes, were much more was being said than the mere words they were exchanging. Her hand rose to the side of his gently caressing it, as she weighed her next actions. "I'll be gentle," was her only reply... or warning. Kova tried to gently move her fingertips along the contours of Shavan's face. Yet, with a motion so quick, her fingers lifted from the side of Shavan's face and moved quickly to slap the hybrid. Kova barely spared a second, before her lips moved to close around Shavan's upper lip, initiating an impassioned kiss. Her hand, in the meanwhile, had gripped a handful of fabric on his torso to pull him closer. [ Shavan Th'zhaar - Kerelia Colony] The tension between them had finally reached the breaking point. Shavan was acutely aware of Kova's closeness, and of every small movement drawing him in. He inhaled sharply at the sudden sting on his cheek, which only made him want her more. Any further retorts about not needing to be gentle were then stolen as their lips met. Without thinking, he was returning the kiss with an insatiable desire, pulling her in just as roughly. And with the situation at hand, between the treaty of 2375 and the Gul's status as currently acting in his role as an accredited diplomat, that could play merry hell with just about anything that could be thrown at him, and he found himself glad that it would be the Old Lady dealing with him. Even though, under the letter of the law even someone enjoying diplomatic immunity could be detained and held for committing any crime at all while waiting for their government to determine whether or not they would waive immunity in this case. But, that wasn't for him to worry about just yet. Not when he had a talkative suspect in front of him. "I need more than just your word about motives, Miss Ito. If you truly want to be able to be in a position to negotiate yourself a deal, you need to give me hard information regarding Doctor Murra's murder. Say, tell me about this 'man in black' of yours? Did he recruit you, or did a third party put you in contact with him? By what means?"While the magic word 'lawyer' meant that she could withhold answers until conferring with legal counsel, there as nothing saying he could not keep asking questions. If she chose to answer them willingly or declare she would wait for her representation to appear before saying anything was entirely up to her. But one thing did remain unsaid: that his report supporting a call for leniency from the prosecution hinged on her willingness to cooperate. And, frankly, the thought of nailing a bloody Spoonhead to the wall was a notion that warmed the cockles of his heart, given those bastards were complicit with the Breen sucker-punching Earth.

Without thinking, he was returning the kiss with an insatiable desire, pulling her in just as roughly. Whatever they had started... there was no stopping this now. [ Kova Sh'qaleq - Kerelia Colony] If there had been any concerns aboud coddling Shavan before, they had certainly been erased. His reaction and the ferocity of his lust easily matched Kova's own. Their desire was at a fever pitch, and there was only one way to quench such a hunger. [-fade to black; 3 hours later-] Kova's fingers gently trailed along the well-defined lines of Shavan's bare chest. In many ways it was like a work of art, and she felt as if she was actually searching for some sort of flaw. Of course there was none to be found. Kova's eyes rose in search of Shavan's as she perched her head in her hand as she propped her elbow on the floor. Her ivory locks falling against her skin, drenched by her own perspiration... mostly. "I think those lips of yours loosened just a little," Kova commented with a smirk. "I definitely heard some things I've never heard before."Kova looked around their current accommodations. The pair had found themselves falling through a partially constructed home. There were only three standing walls, and that was how they'd found it. Of course, there was some minor framing that needed to be replaced. Nothing too drastic, but hopefully not something either Kova or Shavan would have to explain. One could easily make an argument that the tension between them had been there practically from the beginning. Regardless, it had been worth the wait.

I have a feeling there's something going on here that we don't know about," she muttered, looking at Syl. "Any idea what we could do now?" she asked. You could hear that she didn't feel like asking anyone what had happened. Still, the Cardassian was curious about what had happened. Maybe the murderer had been caught, and was allowed to answer to the Detapa Council. That would be fun.

Leanna knew that Riyo wouldn't of been expecting such a harsh and brief response from her. However she was very much in the belief that he deserved it, especially when she had dealt with all of this before and didn't want to go through it again. Nor would she pretend that everything was okay, when it wasn't or back down either and fuss over him. " Whatever, I don't care, what's another few hours, when you've been gone this long" Lea muttered angrily to herself as she received Riyo's reply.
Screw it, if Judy was more important and yes that was the anger and disappointment talking but he had some serious explaining to do, when he decided to show up. Until then she wasn't about to cry or let it get to her, at least that was the plan as she deactivated the padd and made herself something to eat.

He didn't have to wait long to find out what it was that the captain wanted to show him. The vedek straightend and turned towards the door, hardly believing it. Just minutes before the captain had claimed the Gul's diplomatic status protected him from expulsion; he'd assumed that extended to outright arrest. But no! The true motivation quickly became clear! Murder! The vedek openly snickered and crossed his arms, quite ready to enjoy the show. At the gul's accusation, the vedek laughed, placed his hand on his chest and looked around. " Me? Oh, as if I'd waste my time." He didn't feel it necessary to elucidate an alibi, not for the gul, not for Starfleet. The vedek leaned towards the gul, delighted and gloating. If the other woman wanted to mock her in such a way after the hand she'd dealt her, well, that said more about her than it did anyone else. For the vedek though, she spared a smile, genuinely pleased to see that he was well after being stunned into submission in the plaza and then secreted away to some smelly gym. Surely not, they'd mismanaged everything else that day, they'd hardly pretend to the press and to a Bajoran spiritual leader that they were arresting a Cardassian diplomat. But, for what? She quickly raised a hand, twisted at the wrist, then with splayed fingers, made a gesture like she was tossing a ball toward Du Toollamé. Olsen whirred toward the new target, and as if on cue, the man himself started throwing a temper tantrum. The holorecorder drone spun around just the Cardassian, capturing him in 360 degrees, as Eastman captured his hands. "What do you know, this story gets a happy ending." That had never happened to her before, and she found herself quite liking it.

[ Vedek Dima Emmari | Ops ]Dima followed the captain into the conference room to find Charlie Fox and a few others already there. He smiled at her despite his foul mood. He didn't have to wait long to find out what it was that the captain wanted to show him. The vedek straightend and turned towards the door, hardly believing it. Just minutes before the captain had claimed the Gul's diplomatic status protected him from expulsion; he'd assumed that extended to outright arrest. But no! The true motivation quickly became clear! Murder! The vedek openly snickered and crossed his arms, quite ready to enjoy the show. At the gul's accusation, the vedek laughed, placed his hand on his chest and looked around. " Me? Oh, as if I'd waste my time." He didn't feel it necessary to elucidate an alibi, not for the gul, not for Starfleet. The vedek leaned towards the gul, delighted and gloating. "Prophets, two blessings in one day." [Charlie Fox - Ops Centre]Well now, that's just a lie.Charlie arched a brow when Eastman declared it good to see her, and did not deign to otherwise respond. If the other woman wanted to mock her in such a way after the hand she'd dealt her, well, that said more about her than it did anyone else. "I believe there will be no further interruptions to your Ha'mara, Vedek," she said briefly, eyeing the angry Cardassian. "No interruptions but his guilty conscience," the Gul protested. "You know you have framed an innocent man, monsieur. You must live with that forever."A fleet security officer shook him slightly. "You have the right to remain silent. Everything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you wish, one can be provided to you. Do you understand these rights as they have been read to you?""This is a tragedy!" "Do you or do you not?""I do.""You two, leave," the security officer ordered the Cardassian bodyguards, and they complied. Judy herself began to head towards the plaza. If either Dima or Fox wanted to dawdle with the Gul, that was for them - and him - to decide.

Jenkins & Ito Eka - Grandview Conference Room]Joshua Niles didn't seem to realize he'd been teased, which was for the better, as Jenkins slowly realized the sheer audacity in him doing such a thing. They weren't friends, and he wasn't even Mabel, who could get away with anything just by the force of her midwestern charm and naivete. "I'll see who JAG can send," he acknowledged. He sent a suitable text message up. "I will tell you one thing about the Gul: his motives aren't political. He says he doesn't care about the war crimes."It was now that Jenkins realized what a political mess was unfolding. The Gul was campaigning for elected office, which under the current treaty (post-2375) nullified his immunity for certain crimes. Charlie Fox would have a hell of a time, and there was no telling how Judith Eastman would fare.

And with the situation at hand, between the treaty of 2375 and the Gul's status as currently acting in his role as an accredited diplomat, that could play merry hell with just about anything that could be thrown at him, and he found himself glad that it would be the Old Lady dealing with him. Even though, under the letter of the law even someone enjoying diplomatic immunity could be detained and held for committing any crime at all while waiting for their government to determine whether or not they would waive immunity in this case. But, that wasn't for him to worry about just yet. Not when he had a talkative suspect in front of him. "I need more than just your word about motives, Miss Ito. If you truly want to be able to be in a position to negotiate yourself a deal, you need to give me hard information regarding Doctor Murra's murder. Say, tell me about this 'man in black' of yours? Did he recruit you, or did a third party put you in contact with him? By what means?"While the magic word 'lawyer' meant that she could withhold answers until conferring with legal counsel, there as nothing saying he could not keep asking questions. If she chose to answer them willingly or declare she would wait for her representation to appear before saying anything was entirely up to her. But one thing did remain unsaid: that his report supporting a call for leniency from the prosecution hinged on her willingness to cooperate. And, frankly, the thought of nailing a bloody Spoonhead to the wall was a notion that warmed the cockles of his heart, given those bastards were complicit with the Breen sucker-punching Earth. [NPCs - PO2 Roland L. Jenkins & Ito Eka - Grandview Conference Room]"If you want to know that, you might want to get that lawyer here faster."Eka was scared, but she wasn't stupid. All her people could tell when they were being squeezed, and would ultimately then be screwed. If Starfleet wanted to get, they had to start giving. She was willing to bet that Du Toollame wasn't one to sing. Jenkins looked at Niles, not sure if the officer wanted to keep pushing, or report back to their captain.
