[Hot Candy - Blue Beta]As Jurgha read out the next clue, Candy's blonde head was cocked to one side, a frown marring her otherwise perfectly clear skin. "I'm sure I have no earthly idea," she said in response to the klingon's question. It was frustrating not being able to get it straight away, but the clue mentioned doctors, and they had a doctor on their team, so surely he'd get in two shakes of a lamb's tail, right? Wrong. As Jonathan rambled on, Candy's spirits sunk further. And they'd had such a good start. She shifted in closer to Jurgha, trying to read the text for herself. It didn't help, but she had no clue how the man had plucked "customs" from it. Maybe that drink hadn't been such a bad idea, after all. Shavan Th'zhaar , Jonathan Hunt , Eliska Bremmer

[Vaken Tariwat - Hotel Lobby -> Blue Beta -> Hotel Lobby, Twilight Hotel & Casino]Beta ShiftVaken Tariwat had been hiding under the counter for forty-three minutes. He knew that because he was counting the seconds in his head until he saw his goddess again. As soon as her voice rang out, as melodious and enticing as one hundred tiny silver bells, he popped up, his head and torso appearing as if from nowhere. "Good morning!"He beamed at the whole team, but he was all eyes for Kova. On the counter next to the Bolian's hand was a large, silver-coloured paperweight, painted to look like a strip of latinum. [ Shavan Th’zhaar - Lobby, Twilight Hotel and Casino] Shavan followed Kova as they made their way to the Twilight Casino without incident, and soon found the Bolian in question. As for first impressions… He cast an amused glance between the Bolian and Kova. Apparently he wasn't the only one with an admirer today. It didn’t take long to notice the object on the counter, but he remembered the need to be polite and play along. “Good morning. I think you have something we’re looking for?”[ Kova Sh'qaleq - Lobby, Twilight Hotel & Casino] It was rare that Kova was startled or even taken by surprise. However, Vaken's sudden appearance from behind the counter had certainly given her perception senses a run for their money. He beamed at her brightly, yet her eyes seemed to be ensnared by the Bolian. It was almost unnerving. "G-good morning," Kova said. She recalled how attentive the Bolian had been when she was last in the hotel's lobby. She could tell that his dedication to service hadn't waivered in the time that had passed. "Right," Kova said as she heard Shavan's question for Vaken. "Commander Ellis suggested that you would be able to help me... er, us. I mean us." Kova cleared her throat and smiled slightly. Her eyes dipped and noticed the paperweight near Vaken's hand. Kova's eyes lifted to meet the Bolian's gaze once more. She certainly wasn't used to this next word. "Please?" For some reason, the notion of wrestling a Klingon over hot coals seemed so much easier.

Suddenly he ceased the useless movements, and with the object in both hands he held it out and bowed. He would not move until it was accepted by a member of the team. On the underside of the decorative strip was the following engraved words:

[Blue Beta] “ Fine!” Hunt answered Jurgha. As she accepted his challenge after the event was over. He hope with the challenge and the appropriate time it would help them focus on the task at hand or in the other way he might have made it worse. Great! Nothing like upping the ante, now if we don’t win is a date with the Grim Reaper. Hunt thought to himself as he kept his demeanor up to par. If it came into a fight, Hunt was sure that she would probably make mincemeat out of him. Probably not the smartest move for the future but it would work at the moment. Hunt followed Candy as she took to the lead as she talked to Seamus and remained quiet. He observed as she used her charisma to the man in front of her. It was obvious that she had skills in that area. The Doctor thought maybe for a second, she could be useful in the diplomatic corps or other areas which require “people” skills. It was not long that their target was known. A barrel. He looked at the barrel and pulled out his PADD and took a holo image of it. In the event that there was a clue outside and before moving it. It would be doubtful but he learned to sometimes proceed with caution as details might be missed. He listened as Crewman Bremmer wanted to try a pint and for the team to drink one. Hunt merely responded “I’ll pass. I’m on duty plus is way, way to early for me to drink”. Hunt initial reaction was to give a “Belay that” order but he thought that it would defeat the purpose of the exercise if he acted like an officer. He would have to trust on their independent judgment. At the time Hunt was a little shocked that they would drink on a formal Starfleet Sanction event in front of a superior officer, but he was new at the Station and did not know all the norms. Starfleet has changed a lot in 50 years He thought to himself. “ Thank you Mr. Seamus, I appreciate the help. I don’t think we know each other my name is Jonathan Hunt and it’s a pleasure meeting you” Hunt said to the Irishman as he went towards the Barrell. He then explained to the team “ I took a Holo Picture of the barrel in case there is a clue outside the barrel and the position” Hunt said to the Team. Before he approached and touched the Barrel Hunt stood a second as he observed it for any triggers, traps, devices or clues. Everything appeared normal. He would grab the hammer nearby the barrel and would try loosen up the first ring unless someone would stop him. . “ Let’s find out what’s in it” Hunt said as he would try and open the barrel and accept any help trying to get it open. Wooden Barrels were notorious to open them. [Hot Candy - Blue Beta]"I just might do that, Seamus," she promised when he told her to come back there and find out. "Don't you be checking me out too hard now, you hear? A girl's got to keep some mystery." Candy moved around the bar, joining the doctor as he snapped a holopic of a very unphotogenic barrel. At the talk of a round of... beers, Candy took the time to scrunch up her nose and shake her head. "Oh, honey, no. The only tipple I will sample at this uncivilised hour is a mimosa or a Bloody Mary." Anything else was just improper. And nauseating. She moved to assist Jonathan, who had obviously never worked a shift in a bar before in his life, with the barrel. In seconds, they had it open. Inside wasn't beer, but water. And swimming in the water was a toy fish. The fish was a very pretty blue and had a beautiful tail, which swished with the faint sound of a mechanical whirr. Once removed from the barrel the team would find something written on the fish's side. [ Jurgha, daughter of Khar - Blue Beta] While she definitely wouldn't say no to Eliska’s idea of a round of drinks now, the others did have a point that this was a race. And they were going to win. “It's settled, then. We will return later to celebrate our victory.” Stepping up between the others, Jurgha peered into the barrel. It contained a fish… just like the first clue said. She reached in and picked it up, soon noticing the writing on its side. “This petty officer guards the gates today, he holds a mending tool that only a doctor may wield.” Unlike the first clue, she was sure she had no idea who this was referring to… and it sounded like they would need to know the person to determine the location, not the other way around. “Well? Does anyone know who that means?” Jurgha looked at Jonathan as she said it, because of the mention of a doctor. Though Eliska or Candy might know too. [Blue Beta] Hunt nodded in the direction of Seamus as he properly greeted the man. It seemed by the nature of the exercise was to meet and greet individuals. So Hunt was going to accomplish that as the people participating were also members to enhance our interaction. Hunt then paid attention to the clue as he first listened to what Jurgha said in her response. She appeared to be frustrated as she did not know where the clue might lead. Hunt stop and placed his hand over his chin, “ Let’s assume that the clues follow the same pattern as the previous one. So we will need to identify a location, individual and an item” Hunt theorized. He read the clue carefully as he would let the other team members give an opinion. “ Mending tool… that a doctor would wield, sounds like a Dermal Generator,” Hunt said as he tried to guess. “ It mends the flesh and it’s only used by Doctors or the medical community or other similar Tissue, Organ regenerators at most suture kits” Hunt then said as it was they were the only things that came to mind that fit the criteria as a Mending Tool that is used by Doctors. The First clue or the location could be tricky as I can see multiple interpretations. “ This petty officer guards the Gates today” Hunt then spoke out loud. “ If taken literally, I could see the Petty Officer that is on the Medical Field, working on either a Docking Bay or Customs with Medical Scans.” Then Hunt stopped and said “ That would not make that much sense, alternatively if taking in a figurative that the Gates represent triage or life or death it could also mean “Dispatch Center or Sickbay, which would make more sense why those devices are there, or lastly the Brig Medical Facility as you would have the medical device and gates as in locking people. It seems that might fit the best.” Hunt said. He mentioned the option the way he saw them but he was not sure. “ If we have no idea, we could alternatively check the duty rosters and see if there is someone with Medical Knowledge in Docking Bays, Customs before heading there” Hunt offered. He hoped that someone else had an idea of the location. " Unless someone has a better idea" Hunt said. [ Cwm Eliska Bremmer - Blue Beta, Promenade, Front Ear Station ]Federationers could be so... puritan at times. But, it would seem the notion of a beer in the morning did not appeal to them; but then again, odds are not a one of them had ever experienced working the fields at the crack of dawn before. Not that she was going to say that anywhere near this Candy person... Not that one Eliska Bremmer was ashamed of her origins, but she certainly had no intention to have them thrown in her face at every bloody turn over the course of the day. Though now that a second clue had been unearthed, or fished out as the case my be, she found herself thinking. A mending tool only a doctor could use, that could be any number of medical devices that were out there; for one thing, she doubted anyone on this station save her and a handful of others would consider sutures using needle and thread to be a form of medical mending. But one word was emphasized, Gates... That caught her attention all right. "The station's motto translates to 'Fate is at the Gate', doesn't it? That could mean the petty officer in question is either somewhere near the dedication plate, or the controls of the docking bay."

[Lobby, Twilight Hotel and Casino] It was so loud in here, and he couldn’t hear a word over all the voices just beyond the lobby. This was a dangerous place to be. But it was just as well— he was useless anyway. Ic had been careful not say too much, not to get in the way after he’d been wrong. He tried, as he had since he’d started his very first shift, to remind himself that he was not wrong, as such— he was new. He tried, but he couldn’t be convinced. Of all ways he remained so gullible (— trusting), it was just about impossible to extend that trait to his own fallible self. He’d only been about the promenade thrice since he’d arrived, how was he supposed to know anything about the station but what the other officers talked about on duty and in turbolifts? Grateful, sorry, quiet, (pouting,) Ic hung back a little from the Andorians, unable to stop himself feeling that perhaps they were better off without him. They seemed to be on the same page with just about everything, and he wondered if this was how they were. Did the antennae confer something, the way telepathy allowed mutual understanding in his own kind? Maybe he should have switched with that Candy woman. Maybe he should not have shown up at all. The lateness, his mother would probably have said, was undoubtedly a sign. Better never than late sometimes. Especially with the very… weird… reception of Kova by the Bolian. Oh by the Four Dieties, was this was he felt like himself when he looked at the lieutenant— ? No. No, no, no, Shavan was simply agonizingly gorgeous and Ic was just weak, it wasn’t a thing. It was not. (He made the mistake of taking in the sight of brilliant teal, and wondered if he was wrong about this, too.) When it seemed that the next clue had been offered, he crept closer to peek. Impulsive, and unwilling to endure any more of this place, Ic reached for the clue and turned it over. He kept his breath held to try to stave off the raucous pink sensations of the establishment, the Bolian, his own shimmering doubt. He wrinkled his nose at the latinum. He let the Andorians read it for themselves, but didn’t say anything, disinterested in being wrong again. "Where to, team?"

[The Spotty Alibi - Turbolift] With Eta committing one of the ultimate sins by telling a bartender to put a drink back and Jorzar understandably barring the three of them. Leanna knew that she would have to try and smooth things over with the Trill later or at the very least stay away until he had calmed down. Hoping that their next destination and getting the information from Niamh would be a lot easier, the Betazoid followed Syl and Eta into the turbolift. " I agree let's start by talking to Niamh and then go from there" Lea replied as Syl then called their destination. Standing against the rail, Leanna thought about what they would find next and where it would ultimately lead them. Aside from their encounter with Jorzar, not exactly going to well, she was still confident that the Valkyries would succeed.

[ Shavan Th’zhaar - Twilight Hotel and Casino -> Turbolift] Stepping forward, Shavan quickly read the clue on the fake bar of latinum Ic was holding. While he rarely spent time there, it didn't take long to guess that this clue pointed to the park. As for exactly where within it to go…. Naturally, he was familiar with the different projects the science department was working on. And since getting back he had heard about the sentient plant that had moved in of its own volition. “The park.” And, (he couldn’t believe he was saying this), “There’s a plant there that can talk… telepathically, anyway.” So if they did have to talk to it, Ic would have to be the one to do it. Shavan glanced at Kova to see if she had anything to add, but was already walking back toward the turbolift. When they were on their way he considered Ic, who had so far been quiet. “So… has anyone shown you where to have fun around here yet? Because if not, I can fix that later,” he offered with a smile. [ Jurgha, daughter of Khar - Blue Beta] Well, some help the others were now. Jurgha held the fish out for them to look at if they wanted, and frowned as as she considered Hunt's theories. It was a place to start, though it appeared that none of them actually knew the person the clue was referring to. However, there was one problem with all of that. “I work in customs, and I don’t know any petty officer there that's also a doctor,” she explained impatiently. Glaring at the frustrating clue, she then considered the Blue Beta Bar, which didn't actually have much to do with fish… and the strangely named Candy. “Maybe the Brig Medical Facility is a better place to start. [Blue Beta] Hunt remained standing with his hand under his chin. He first listened to Candy to see if she had some new information to offer. She figured the last clue and wondered if she would be able to help them on the next. “ That’s ok,” Hunt responded to Candy as she had no idea. He was trying to be understanding as they could not rely on her to do everything. He then turned his attention to Eliska as mentioned that the Petty Officer might be near the plate. “ But why would a Medical Officer be near the Station’s Motto? It seems kind of odd,” Hunt said as he wondered out loud. As he was not sure either. He then looked at the Klingon as she offered information that there are no Medical individuals in customs. “ So that eliminates one Option”. Hunt then responded. Hunt then said the medical facility in the brig, which seems like a good start. He then approached the fish and read the clue again. Gates He thought as this word was confusing them. “I n Starfleet Academy, we learned when you confront a situation, and you are stuck, you need to look it at a different matter. Gates is capitalized, so if it’s a reference to a location. Why would it be Capitalized?” Hunt said out loud. As he was processing his thinking and hopefully, the team would be able to follow his logic. “ What if Gates…is not a Location but a name,” He said out loud. He then approached the computer. “C omputer, display on this monitor all Starfleet and Civilian Personnel with either the first name and last name Gates.” Hunt then observed a display of names pop up on the terminal. “ Computer, narrow down to all Gates that work on the Medical field,” Hunt continued saying out loud. It was not shortly after that the name “Kellen Gates” appeared. “ X Marks the spot,” Hunt said out loud. “ Computer, identify the location of Kellen Gates,” Hunt said out loud as he hopes he would get his location fairly soon. “ I think this might be a more solid lead than the Medical Brig and the Station's motto. What say the rest of the team?” Hunt asked as he did not want to be authoritative. Tag Eliska Bremmer Shavan Th'zhaar Felicity Ellis

[Hot Candy - Blue Beta]=/\= "Petty Officer Kellen Gates is in Primary Sickbay - Medical Storage 2." =/\= When the Computer confirmed Jonathan's theory, Candy nodded and held up a finger, pointing upward as though that's where the voice was coming from. "I would say the team says yes!"She began to move, leaving the fish to someone else to carry. She waved a goodbye to Seamus, never too busy for a smile and a wink for him, even with a new room up for grabs, and filed out of the bar and restaurant. "I'd also say that it's a fine thing we have a doctor on our team, otherwise we might run into some access issues."There was something else that had caught her interest during the team's exchange before, and that had been Jurgha's line of work. "Pardon my asking, but you said you worked in Customs?" Candy was always on the look out for connections, especially those that would be useful to her when she started her own business. "Just say, hypothetically, of course, that someone might want to import some fine cigars. How do you see that being received? Not that I'm looking for banned virgin-rolled Cuban cigars from Earth or anything, merely just a passin' curiosity..." She might as well get the lay of the land while they journeyed to Sickbay. Though it was obvious that he took his dedication to (her) service very seriously. As he bowed and presented the item to her, Kova wasn't sure if taking it would be the safest thing. Ic was the one that reached for the item. Kova wasn't sure what was supposed to happen next, but clearly this gratitude and politeness that Commander Ellis had suggested was far more dangerous than she had led them to believe. "Um... thanks," Kova said as she backed away. Ic seemed to concede the direction of where to go next to the rest of the team. Kova read over the the clue. It seemed obvious enough where to go. As Shavan mentioned the park, Kova nodded. "But what about the first line: If plants could talk? Are we supposed to find a tree with a sign?" Naturally, when Shavan mentioned that there was a plant that could talk, Kova was not sure if she was supposed to take him seriously. Then, he mentioned it being telepathic. "Telepathic plants? Really? " Kova simply shook her head and then turned towards Ic. "I guess that means you're up."As Shavan began to lead the way, Kova cast one last glance back towards Vaken's direction before joining the rest of her team towards the turbolift. Shavan's words to the young Betazoid hadn't gone unnoticed. As they waited for the lift, Kova simply rolled her eyes. "Finish the race first, fornicate later," she said, hoping to keep her team on track. As the lift arrived, Kova stepped inside and waited for the other two to join her. "Deck Six."

[Turbolift -> Park] He’d never talked to plants before, except to beg them to survive through his secondary school science fair. They didn’t listen. Ic had never had much success with even the most unkillable of plants, nevermind those who could bear witness to his internal screaming. But maybe that was the problem with the cactus. Maybe it did hear him. There was no way desperation could turn a plant’s insides to gelatinous mush, though. A remark like that from the lieutenant, however, could make jelly of any organic. It was as lethal as good morning, and at such suffering short range— The ensign was grateful that the turbolift had a handrail. Less so that it also had Kova. Her remark struck him like a spoon against a freshly demolded aspic, her dense determination a heavy hand. His own imagination, indulgent as it was, had not even gotten that far. “I— that— we— it was—” He had no idea what that or we we or it (or even I) was, actually, but stammering through the short remainder of the turbolift ride beat the heck out of silence when his entire being reddened, heated, wobbled, helpless. For all the mess of words, all pink, not one of them denied interest. (He’d never talked very much to people either, and he was certain now that it showed. But damnit, he was a physicist, not a socialite—) The moment the doors opened upon the green space of the park, Ic stumbled to a struggling equilibrium into grass and oxygen again.“If plants could talk,” he repeated to himself, desperate to reclaim even a shred of professionalism in the face of his thickly tingling cheeks. One eye closed to concentrate on blocking the sensations of others, Ic started on a wandering path to feel out any vegetation—rather, any non-person— sentience that might be waiting with a clue upon its…. whatever organelle it could have been that facilitated communication. Then again, a plant could have been manufacturing (a replicator?) or an informant. He supposed a telepathic vegetable could have been all of the above. The only trouble was that it was a rather busy day at the park, and Ic often struggled to filter information in even small groups of humanoids he was acquainted with, especially under emotional duress. He turned to Shavan, walking backward, but didn’t dare make eye contact under the pretense of a visual search, of course. “—what’s it look like, sir?”

[ Shavan Th’zhaar - Park] At Kova's comment, Shavan just rolled his eyes, neither acknowledging nor denying such intentions. “I said later, didn't I?”Resisting the urge to add something else, he let the subject of fornicating with either of them (or perfectly professional tours of the station) drop for the moment. They arrived at the park, and Shavan looked at Ic (had he been that pink the whole time?) as he turned the topic back to the telepathic plant, and started leading the way down the path toward it. “You’ll know when you see it. Huge, vines everywhere, lots of thorns…” Maybe not the most detailed description, but Shavan wasn’t actually a botanist…. and the thing was hard to miss. Kova Sh'qaleq Ic Arbrell

[Eta Borir - The Spotty Alibi -> Turbolift]
Eta couldn't say she was heartbroken over the bartender's reaction. He really didn't seem to be in a good mood today. But he could well have asked her for the Latinum instead of just trying to grab it. With a quick glance, Eta looked around the bar again before leaving it behind Syl.
Syl seemed to know where to go, and so Eta willingly followed her. "I'll go where you go," she replied cheerfully, waiting for the turbolift to stop on the indicated deck. Once she arrived, she was the last one out of the turbolift and lined up behind the ladies.

[Ens. Syl O'Connell - Front Ear - The Spotty Alibi]For once knowing exactly where she was going, Syl led the way out of the turbolift and through the hangar. The Caldonian transport vessel was unmistakable amongst all the Starfleet runabouts, and she pointed to it as they passed. "That's the Erudite." While she couldn't think of any other reason their clue would have been written on a 'get out of jail free' card, she wasn't looking forward to setting foot in there any time soon. Reaching O'Leary's office, Syl knocked on the door as she poked her head in. "Hey, Chief," she greeted with a friendly smile. "Why do we need your clearance to fly?" It felt weird, asking that question to her superior, but that seemed to be what the clue instructed.
